Millie Bratton, a resident of Lawrenceville, Ga., formerly of Dexter, died Aug. 28, 2002, in the Gwinnett Medical Center at Lawrenceville, Ga., at the age of 92. Funeral services are being planned for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, in the Faith Lutheran Church at Dexter.
Ida O. Johnson
Ida Ozella Johnson, daughter of the late Lonnie T. Hampton and Janie Vanhosser Hampton, was born on Oct. 25, 1925, at Black Oak, Ark., and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter on Aug. 29, 2002, at the age of 76. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Northside General Baptist Church in Bernie, had worked at Brown Shoe Company in Bernie for 31 years until her retirement and was a resident of Bernie. She was united in marriage to James A. Johnson on Feb. 1, 1947, at Weona, Ark. Survivors include her husband, James A. Johnson of Bernie; one son, Jim Johnson of Dexter; one brother, Ira Hampton of Clarkton; and two granddaughters. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Chapel with Rev. O.H. Brooks and Rev. Tim Ingels officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
Lesa J. Blankenship
Lesa J. Blankenship, 42, of Advance, was born Sept. 12, 1959, at Sikeston, the daughter of Mary McMillion Thompson and the late Charles 'Sonny' Thompson, and died Aug. 29, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Mrs. Blankenship was a homemaker. On Sept. 27, 1980, she was married to Harold Blankenship at Advance, and he survives of the home. Other survivors include her mother Mary McMillion Thompson of Advance; paternal grandmother, Lillian Thompson of Advance; maternal grandmother, Mary McMillion of Bloomfield; two brothers, Clay Thompson of Puxico and Brandon Thompson of Advance; two sisters, Julie Vandermierden of Glennon and Rena Thompson of Puxico. Her father preceded her in death. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at the Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at the Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance with Rev. Ray Placher officiating. Interment will follow at Morgan Memorial Park at Advance.
