Jim Fox
Jim Fox, son of the late Claude Fox and Emma Ivy Fox was born on September 17, 1927 at McCamry, TX, and died in the Missouri Baptist Medical Center at St. Louis on June 16, 2002 at the age of 74. Mr. Fox was a member of the Dudley Community Church, a retired Chief Boat Swain?s Mate in the United States Navy, a retired agent with the Butler County Soil Conservation Service, a member of the Fleet Reserve and a resident of Dexter. He was united in marriage to Juanita Reed on September 27, 1949 at Yuma, Arizona. Mrs. Fox survives of the home in Dexter. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, James L. Fox and Gene Robert Fox both of Dexter; by three brothers, Herman Fox of Granbury, TX., Norman Fox of Dallas, TX. and George Fox of Rising Star, Tx.; by three sisters, Wanda Jacober of Anderson, Calif., Linda Pancake of Breckenridge, TX, and Berniece Williams of Eastland, TX; and by two grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Fox and Claudie Fox; by one sister, Lucille Harrigal. Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 18. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11a.m., Wednesday, June 19, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Donald Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter, with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Linda Lou Carney Fulkerson
Linda Lou Carney Fulkerson, daughter of Alice Carney, of Dexter, and the late James H. Carney, was born on April 8, 1947, at Poplar Bluff and died at the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dexter on June 17, 2002, at the age of 55 years. Mrs. Fulkerson was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Dexter, a former L.P.N., home-maker and resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Richard Spencer Fulkerson on Nov. 2, 1994 at Pocahontas, Ark. Mr. Fulkerson survives of the home in Dexter. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Shonda Pierce and Tonya Michael, both of Springfield; by her mother, Alice Carney of Dexter; by two brothers, James D. Carney and Kenneth Carney both of Dexter; by three sisters, Phyllis Stewart of Dexter, Becky Carney-Stuart of Anchorage, Alaska and Brenda Elldred of Springfield; and by two grandchildren. Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2002. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
Sabrina Bolton
Sabrina Leigh Bolton, the daughter of Jim and Cathy Stanfield and Harry Bolton, III, was born Sept. 16, 1983, in Poplar Bluff, and died Monday, March 17, 2003, at her residence in Bernie. She was a member of the Kimball Baptist Church in Malden. Survivors include her parents, Jim and Cathy Stanfield of Bernie; one sister, Samantha Bolton of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Travis Stanfield of Bernie; grandparents, Al and Gladys Hartsfield of Malden, Elizabeth Bolton and the late Harry Bolton, Jr. of Malden, and Jay and Betty Stanfield of Bernie. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Bolton, III. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at the Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden with Bro. Charley Shrum and Bro. Jim Cornman officiating. Allan D. Meers
Allan D. Meers, son of the late William Alfred Meers and Emily Babbs Meers was born on February 24, 1928 at Danville, Ill., and died at his residence near Dexter on June 16, 2002 at the age of 74. Mr. Meers was a former track repairman for Conrail Railroad, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII, and was a resident of Dexter. Survivors include one son, Stephen Meers, of Dexter; one daughter, Patricia Medlin, of Risco; and one grandchild. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Mr. Meers was cremated. A service will be held at a later date with arrangements to be made by Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Wilson 'Gary' Clay
Wilson 'Gary' Clay of High Ridge, Mo., son of Ansel and Margaret Clay of Dexter, was born March 19, 1950 in Sikeston and died June 15, 2002, at the age of 52. Mr. Clay was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces. He was the manager of auto sales at Sapaugh Auto Sales in Herculaneum, Mo. He was united in marriage to Jenny L. (Guenzler) Clay, she survives. Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by one daughter, Renee R. Wiesler of Fenton; by one son, Chad B. Clay of Fenton; by one sister, Sara M. Knight of Eureka; two brothers, Jim Clay of Sikeston and Jerry Clay of Essex; and by three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at First Baptist Church of Murphy, Mo. on June 19 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart, Mo. with Pastor John McCaherty officiating. Janet Bunch
Janet Bunch of Gray Ridge, was born on September 7, 1940, and died at Beverly Health Care in New Madrid on June 13, 2002, at the age of 61 years. She is the daughter of Opal Brazzel Duncan and the late Eugene Haskins of Gray Ridge. Janet had resided in Gray Ridge before moving to Memphis Tenn. where she lived for 15 years and has lived in Morehouse the last 6 years as a retired nurse. She was a member of the Methodist Church. On August 12, 1961 she was married to Leslie W. Bunch Jr. in Buffington, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1990. Surviving is her mother, Opal Duncan of Morehouse, visitation was held from 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Graveside services were conducted on Saturday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, with Rev. W. H. Worth of Essex officiating. Interment followed in the Dexter Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
Byron H. Smith
Byron H Smith, the son of the late Joseph and Mary Juenger Smith, was born in Okawville, Ill., on March 13, 1904, and died at the National Health Care in Maryland Heights on June 14, at the age of 98 years. He was a resident of Puxico for many years before moving to St. Louis three years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Puxico. On April 23, 1927, he was married to Elizabeth Rodgers at St. Louis. She preceded him in death on March 6, 1999. Surviving are one daughter, Betty Muth of St. Louis; three grand-children; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 17, after 11 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico. Funeral services will be conducted in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel on Monday, June 17 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Marshall Link of Puxico officiating. Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
Darrell Ward
Darrell R. Ward, the son of the late Dale and Mamie E. Farris Ward, was born in Bloomfield on July 10, 1940, and died at his home in Dexter on April 12, 2002, at the age of 61. Mr. Ward had lived in California for several years before returning to Dudley in 1982. He moved to Dexter in 1990. He was the Vice President of Sales at W.W. Wood Products in Dudley. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On May 24, 1996, he was married to Beckie Baker in Piggott, Ark. Surviving are his wife, Beckie Ward of Dexter; one daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Mark Candau of Gresham Oregon; two grandchildren: Justin and Sarah Candau, both of Gresham, Oregon; two brothers: Sie Ward of Poplar Bluff and C. L. "Dink" Ward of Hermiston, Oregon. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kyle and Pete Ward, and one sister, Thula Taylor. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 14, from 1-3 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2002, at 3 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Wayne Dismuke officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith-Stevenson Cemetery near Dexter with Watkins and Sons funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Ruth Reinhart
Ruth Maxine Reinhart of Advance, the daughter of the late William Joseph Butler and Martha Wright Butler, was born March 5, 1929 in Welling, Okla. and died at the St. Francis Medical Center Emergency Room in Cape Girardeau on Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at the age of 73. Ruth was a retired sewing machine operator at Columbia Sportswear in Chaffee and a member of the Fairview General Baptist Church near Arbor. She was united in marriage to Rev. Earl Reinhart on May 4, 1947, and he survives of the home in Advance. Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Ruth Burnett of Greenville; by one brother, Harvey Butler of Tahlequah, Okla.; by four sisters, Emma Day of Branson, Dorothy Sumpter of Hartshorne, Okla., Gloria Lee Casas of Rose, Okla. and Mary Davidson of Tahlequah, Okla.; by two grandchildren; and by two great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Visitation will be held at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Chaffee on Thursday, April 11 at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m., Friday, April 12 with Rev. Mike Huffman officiating. Interment will follow at the Morgan Memorial Park in Advance with Amick-Burnett Funeral Home of Chaffee in charge of arrangements.
Stella Connor
Stella Mae Connor, daughter of the late Charles Downen and Elsie Brown Downen, was born at Essex, Mo. and departed this life on April 10, 2002 at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Hospital in Dexter. Mrs. Connor was a housewife, a former resident of Essex and Parma, Mo. and was currently living in Dexter for the last four years. She was united in marriage to William Raymond Connor in 1927 at Leachville, Ark. Mr. Connor preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1978. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Kay and David A. Dierks of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, William Jay Downen of Bloomfield, Mo.; by one grandson, Michael A. Dierks of Boston, Mass.; by extended family, Clay, Dixie, Ronnie and Nickki Prough of Dexter; also by other relatives and many friends.
