Glenna Cline
Glenna W. Cline, daughter of the late Charles William Houchins and Tennie Tate Houchins was born on February 27, 1944, in Portageville and died on January 9, 2002 at the Missouri Delta Medical center in Sikeston. Mrs. Houchins was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. On May 28, 1960, she married Harold Vernon Cline, who survives of the home. Besides her mother, Mr. Cline is survived by: two daughters, Glenna Juanita Moore and Roberta Ann Swilley, both of Sikeston; four brothers, Larry Houchins, Frank Houchins and Charles "Bud" Houchins, all of Essex and Gary Houchins of Bloomfield; three sisters, Ann Oliver of Sikeston, Jo Copeland of Morely and Bonnie Sue Byrd of Benton; and four grandchildren. In addition to her father, Mrs. Cline was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy Kaye Cline, in 1980. Friends may call Friday, Jan. 11, from 5-8 p.m., at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. The Rev. John Bouldry pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
Paul Faris
Rev. Paul Faris, son of the late H.B. and Winnie J. Tadlock Faris, was born on Oct. 31, 1926, in Franklin, Ark., and died at 12 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at his residence in Charleston. Mr. Faris was ordained into the ministry in 1954. He had lived in Charleston since 1962 where he served as pastor of the Trinity Pentecostal Church for 35 years. In 1962, he and his wife opened Faris Shoe Repair in Charleston, expanding to Sikeston in 1963. They operated both businesses until closing the Sikeston shop in 1991 and the Charleston shop in 1994. He married the former Dorothy Herndon on Dec. 16, 1944, and she survives of the home. Also surviving are one son, Donald B. Faris of Dexter; three daughters, Lela Mae Tucker, Rose Marie Bard and Paula Louise Boner, all of Charleston; two brothers, Fred Faris of St. Louis and Buster B. Faris of DeKalb, Ill.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. One daughter, Betty Lou Faris, five brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, with Rev. Jim Suits of Hodgensville, Ky., officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Jack Cochran
Jack H. Cochran of Dexter, the son of the late John and Amy Freeman Cochran, was born April 14, 1914 at London, Ark. and died Feb. 25, 2002 at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, at the age of 87. Jack was a farmer and of the General Baptist faith. He was united in marriage to V. Beulah Chesser on Feb. 8, 1936 in Clarksville, Ark. She preceded him in death on May 31, 1996. Survivors include two sons, Jim Cochran of Advance and John Cochran of Dexter; one brother, Early Cochran of Rise Junction, Mich.; two sisters, Maggie Dodd of Chaffee and Ruby Nelson of Sikeston; 14 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Lee Cochran; three grandchildren; four sisters; and two brothers. Visitation was held at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance on Feb. 27 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. Funeral services were conducted on Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. in the Morgan Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bob Quinton officiating. Interment followed at the Old Bethel Cemetery near Sikeston with Morgan Funeral Home of Advance in charge of arrangements.
Glynn Anderson
Glynn Riddle Anderson, 97, passed away on Jan. 04, 2002. She was born in Bernie, Mo., on January 9, 1904. She was married to John "Bill" Anderson who preceded her in death in 1963. She moved to Phoenix in 1980 from Flint, Mich., where she lived for 50 years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Chillicothe Business School in Missouri. She was an office manager for a Michigan beverage company for many years. Her favorite pastime was the love of bridge at which she was superb. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra A. Finn (Stephen) of Scottsdale, Az.; her son, Louie Anderson (Sandra) of Holland, Mich.; two beloved nephews, Leon and Joel Swatzell (Sharon), who she raised from childhood; five grandchildren, Thomas Carleton Arnold, Jr., (Cindy), Breck Anderson Arnold (Christine), Whitney Anderson-Jensen (Patrick), Alexa Anderson, Megen Anderson-Latimer (Erik) and four great-grandchildren; Channing and Chase Arnold; Austa and James Jenson. Also her great nephews and niece; Steve, Paul and Dana Swatzell and Bob and Jerry Brown; Vivian Adkins; Maxine and Jack Hickman who loved her so much. We are grateful to the staff who cared for her at Plaza Healthcare, Scottsdale, AZ, and to her many extended relatives, old friends and new friends in Scottsdale. She will be remembered as an intelligent woman of great character who was totally unselfish and with a sense of humor that everyone loved. She was dearly loved by all that knew her and will be sorely missed. Private services will be held at a future date. Dolly Farmer
Dolly Farmer, daughter of the late Isaac Cecil Wilson and Noah Ward Wilson, was born on July 4, 1913, at Senath and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at the age of 89. Mrs. Farmer was a member of the Senath Church of Christ, a homemaker and resident of Bloomfield. She was united in marriage to Hershel Truman "Jack" Farmer on Oct. 5, 1932, at Paragould, Ark. Mr. Farmer preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1985. Survivors include two sons, Donald Ray Farmer of Bernie and Gerald Farmer of St. Charles; three daughters, Anita Cullum and Phyllis Farmer, both of Bloomfield, and Vickey Hartline of Dexter; by 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Eddie Farmer and Hershel Odell Farmer; six brothers, Thomas Wilson, Elmer Wilson, Cecil Wilson, John Wilson and two in infancy; six sisters, Kate Tidwell, Avabel Hardin, Virginia Rains, Julia Unger, Doris Montgomery and Cordelia Farrar. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Dale Grissom officiating. Interment followed in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.
Wilma Lee Middleton
Wilma Lee Middleton, daughter of Willene Kimbrel Clark, of Dexter and the late J. L. Simpson, Jr., was born on Oct. 21, 1946 at Dexter and departed this life at Miner, Mo., on January 8, 2002 at the age of 55. Mrs. Middleton was a member of the Father's Arms Fellowship at Scott City, had attended Bloomfield High School and was a former hairdresser in Bloomfield and Dexter. She was united in marriage to Gary Middleton on Nov. 05, 1982 at Advance. Mr. Middleton survives of the home in Scott City. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons; Ron Edwards 2nd, and his wife Sheila of Dexter, Parish Lee Edwards and Fiancé Jessica Johnston of Cape Girardeau; by her mother, Willene Clark of Dexter; by one brother, Jerry Leland Simpson of Dexter; by two sisters, Glenda Sue Johnson, of Dexter and Patty Musgrave of Bloomfield; by four grandchildren, Allan Duncan, Justin Duncan, Chelsea Edwards and Devon Richard Ray. Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 11, 2002 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with David Hardin and Rev. Karen Oldham officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
Ottis Howard
Ottis Wiley Howard of Matthews, the son of the late Clarence and Bertha Howard, was born Aug. 1, 1921 at Lexon, Mo. and died Jan. 8, 2002 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 80. Ottis was a farmer, a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army and a member of the V.F.W. of Morley. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Flint on Dec. 16, 1959 at Sikeston. She preceded him in death in 1995. Survivors include three sons, Alan Howard and Clarence Howard, both of Lilbourn, and David Howard of Dexter; one daughter, Marceline Hunt of Marston; two brothers, J.L. Howard of Florence and Tollie Howard of Sikeston; four sisters, Venece Hickerson of Cedar Hills, Mo., Elouise Bell of Bellview, Mo., Sue Roper of Advance and Celeste Alexander of Cape Girardeau; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Howard; two sisters and one brother. Visitation will be held at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance on Wednesday, Jan. 9 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Morgan Funeral Chapel on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Murrell Duffie officiating. Interment will follow at the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield with Morgan Funeral Home of Advance in charge of arrangements.
Nina Randolph
Nina Lucille Randolph, 81, daughter of the late Thomas Alvin Walker and Lilly Hayes Walker, was born on Sept. 20, 1921, at Bloomfield, and died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at Gideon Care Center. On Sept. 16, 1939, she was married to Homer Lee "Buster" Randolph at Malden, and he survives of the home. She was a homemaker and a member of Stanfield General Baptist Church in Gideon. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Savanah Hargraves of Wasilla, Ark., and Arvilla Early of Bernie; three sons, Buddy Randolph of Gideon, Larry Randolph of Rogers, Ark., and Dencel Randolph of Gideon; one sister, Norma Keene of Bay City, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. One granddaughter, two sisters, Thelma Pippens and Vivian Campbell, and two brothers, "Rank" Walker and Junior Walker preceded her in death. Visitation was held after 6:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Stanfield General Baptist Church in Gideon with Dr. Kenneth Kennedy and Rev. Andy Evans officiating. Interment followed at the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton.
