Aldon Kincy
Aldon Kincy, 77, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He was born March 10, 1925 in Dexter, Mo., son of Howard and Ella (Temples) Kincy. He married Lenora Cato in Piggott, Ark. on Nov. 7, 1946. To this union six sons were born. Prior to entering the United States Navy in December 1943 to serve during World War II, he worked as a milling machine operator in Detroit, Mich. He returned to Missouri after his discharge and spent three years as a sales distributor for Curtis Candy Co. and 30 years for Gordon Potato Chips, which later changed to Sunshine and Old Vienna. Survivors include five sons and four daughters-in-law: David and Wilma Kincy, Steve and Rose Kincy, Jimmie and Rosemary Kincy, all of Jackson, Mo., Dennis Kincy of Hercules, Calif., Randy and Volanda Kincy of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; four granddaughters, Kim Holly of Fenton, Mo., Michele Campbell, Tracy Poston and Amanda Kincy, all of Jackson, Mo.; two step-grandsons, Ben Kirkpatrick of Poplar Bluff and Steven Kirkpatrick of Bernie; nine great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Lucille Dowdy and Bernice McCarty, both of Dexter, and Dorothy Gibson of Vallejo, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife Lenora; one son, Micheal; his parents; two brothers; and two sisters. He will be missed by many family and extended family. Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 4 - 7 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2002. Funeral services will then be conducted at 7 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Luther Rhodes officiating. There will be a private family graveside service at 10 a.m., Friday, March 15, 2002 at the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Mo.
Wilma M. Mayberry
Wilma M. Mayberry, daughter of the late Roy and Mary Ilene Gamel Mayberry, was born at Bell City on July 10, 1930 and died at Puxico on Oct. 20, 2001, at the age of 71. Ms. Mayberry had spent her entire life in the Puxico and Advance communities. She was resident of Puxico at the time of her passing. She is survived by two sons, Donald Mayberry of Advance and Dennis Mayberry of Potosi; by two brothers, George 'Bud' Mayberry of Advance and Harold Mayberry of Fort Leonard Wood; by seven grandchildren; and by six great-grandchildren. Visitation was held at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield on Monday, Oct. 22 from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Chapel with Bro. Billy Davis officiating. Interment followed in the Walker Cemetery with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of all arrangements.
Louise Price
Louise Price of Dexter, daughter of Pearl Adams Cathey of Dexter and the late Fred Monroe Cathey, was born on Nov. 16, 1927 at Portageville and died in the Vintage Villa Nursing Center in Dexter on Oct. 21, 2001, at the age of 73. Mrs. Price was a homemaker and a resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Delmar Carson Price on Jan. 18, 1946 at St. Louis, he preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1994. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Harris of Dexter; by her mother, Pearl Cathey of Dexter; and by two grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter on Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery with Rainey Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
Robert Hood
Robert H. Hood of Cape Girardeau, son of the late Henry and Daisy Skaggs Hood, was born on April 11, 1921 at Gipsy and died on Oct. 19, 2001, at the St. Louis Veterans Hospital at the age of 80. Mr. Hood was a retired head sawyer for many different mills throughout his life. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Glenda Randolph on Jan. 17, 1960 at Zalma, she preceded him in death on July 3, 1997. Survivors include two step-sons, Marion Thomas Conder of Clubb and Trennis Lee Conder of Gipsy; by one step-daughter, Evelyn Marie Conder of Cape Girardeau; by one brother, Glen Hood of Gipsy; by one sister, Moneda Cook of Fredericktown; and by one step-grandson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and one step-son. Visitation was held at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance on Sunday, Oct. 21 from 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral services were conducted in the Morgan Funeral Chapel on Monday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Porter officiating. Interment followed in the Berrong Cemetery in Gipsy. Morgan Funeral Home of Advance was in charge of all arrangements.
Lora Bess
Lora Frances Bess, daughter of the late Harvey Hamilton Harrah and Anna Mae McNeil Harrah, was born on April 6, 1907, at Palisade, Neb., and died in the Cypress Point Healthcare at Dexter on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at the age of 95. Mrs. Bess was a member of the First Christian Church in Dexter, a retired seamstress at Elder Manufacturing Company in Dexter, and a resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Everett Carl Bess on April 17, 1926, at Loveland, Colo. Mr. Bess preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1985. Survivors include one son, Carl Franklin Bess of Southriding, Va.; three daughters, Vera Bess and Sylvia Hill, both from Dexter, and Linda Baker of St. Charles; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Homer Harrah, Charles Harrah, and twin brother Frank Harrah; and two sisters, Bertha Shafer and Lela Garr. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will then be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Vaughn Wright and Rev. Dan Sitze officiating. Interment will follow in the Rock Point Cemetery at Swinton.
Earnie Estes
Earnie L. Estes of Marshall, son the late Steven Douglas Estes and Nancy Cowans Estes, was born in Powe on Sept. 11, 1932 and died at the Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at the age of 69. Mr. Estes has lived in Marshall most of his life, was a house painter and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was united in marriage to Juanita Christine Mausey on May 19, 1951, she survives of the home. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Earnie Joe Estes and by 19 brothers and sisters. Survivors include five sons, George Estes of Mahomet, Ill., Bobby Estes of Green Ridge, Leroy Estes and Doug Estes of Camdenton, and Don Estes of Kansas City, Kan.; by four daughters, Barbara Hoyle of Waverly, Mary Johnson of Holt, Tina Estes of Marshall and Sue Leuck of Orlando, Fla.; by three sisters, Ella Brown, Julia Ferrara and Marie Mossman, all of Bernie; by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall on Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Campbell-Lewis Chapel on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Vernon Maxted officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery near Marshall with Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Missouri Department of Conservation.
Rose Grady
Rose Grady, daughter of the late J.B. and Vandora Haddock Grady, was born on Feb. 2, 1935 at Arbyrd and died in the emergency room at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Oct. 18, 2001 at the age of 66. Ms. Grady was a member of the Bernie Church of Christ, was a graduate of Harding University in Searcy, Ark., with a bachelors and masters degrees. She was a retired high school mathematics teaching, working for various school districts throughout Southeast Missouri. She belongs to the Stoddard County Retired Teachers Association and served on the State Retired Teachers Association membership committee. She was a member of the Breast Cancer Support Group and a resident of Dexter. Survivors include one sister, Jewel Grady of Dexter; by four sisters-in-law, Dora Grady of Dexter, Helen Grady of Sikeston, Ellen Grady of Fairview Heights, Ill., and Georgia Shearer of Benton; by four nephews, Gary Grady of Dexter, Verlon Grady of Atlanta, Geo., Sam Grady of Sikeston and Kurt Grady of Fairview Heights, Ill.; by two nieces, Elisa Turnbull of Knoxville, Tenn., and Shirley Wood of Dexter; by 16 great nieces and nephews; by 15 great-great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Melvin Grady, Paul Grady, M.H. (HAMP) Grady and Walter P. Grady. Friends may call at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 until 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001 in the Rainey Funeral Chapel with Jim Faughn and Stan Dauck officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Betty Hough
Betty L. Hough died Friday, March 8, 2002. She was a graduate of Bloomfield High School in 1950. She and her family moved to the St. Louis area in 1960, after the closing of the Malden Air Base. Survivors include her husband, Willis M. "Bill" Hough; and two daughters, Nancy Lowery of St. Ann and Susan Untiedt of Melbourne, Fla. A memorial service will be held in St. Louis, today, Wednesday, March 13. Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, March 16 at 11 a.m. at Triplett Cemetery, South Pleasant Valley Church with Robert Bentley officiating.
Anita D. Jacobs
Anita Diane Jacobs, the daughter of Leon Cox and the late Delores Nelson Moore, was born in Dexter on June 13, 1972 and died at her home in Sikeston on March 5, 2002, at the age of 29. Ms. Jacobs was a former resident of Gary, Ind. for eight years, Parma for 13 years and had lived in Sikeston for the past four years. She had attended the Parma and New Madrid Schools and was a member of the Pilgrim's Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Canalou. Surviving are three sons, Christopher Bonner, Darrius Jacobs, and Torres Jacobs, all of Sikeston; one daughter, Kaysha Jacobs of Sikeston; her father, Leon Cox of Parma; two brothers, Robert Louis Jacobs of Minneapolis, Minn. and Antoine Lamond Moore of Sikeston; five sisters, Beverly Lee of Sikeston, Debra Nelson, Janice Jacobs, and Sylvia Jacobs, all of Milwaukee, Wis. and Armentha Jacobs of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; three step-brothers and three step-sisters. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 11 after 10 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will then be conducted on, Monday March 11 at 12 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel with Elder Moses Grayson of Essex officiating. Interment will be at the Macedonia Cemetery in Malden with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
