Dean L. Smith
Dean L. Smith, 76, of Columbia, Mo., died Monday, March 29, 2010 at University Hospital and Clinics.
Dean was born Jan. 10, 1934 in Lock Springs, Mo., to Thesler and Letha Shively Smith and they preceded him in death. He was married
to Joan Carol Rice on March 6, 1981 in Columbia, Mo., and she survives.
Dean was a graduate of Chillicothe High School and attended Chillicothe Business College. He worked for the Missouri Job Service for 36 years, managing the Columbia office from 1969 until his retirement in 1996.
He was a member of the NRA at the Benefactor level and enjoyed waterfowl hunting.
Survivors also include his children, Steve Smith and wife Cathryn, Flippin, Ark., Kristi Stricker and husband John, Vancouver, Wash., Scott Smith and wife Patti, Jefferson City, Mo., Bev Stephens and husband Bruce, Ariz., and Barb Nunnery and husband Ron of New Bloomfield, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Rex Smith.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, Mo. Burial will follow in Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 1 at the funeral home.

Donald L. Gastineau
Donald L. Gastineau, 71, of Slater, Mo., died Friday, March 26, 2010 at his home.
Donald was born June 1, 1938 in Caldwell County, the son of the late Oscar L. and Maxine Eichler Gastineau. On Feb. 28, 1970 he married
Ruth A. Willis in Carrollton, Mo. She preceded him in death on Feb. 27, 2007.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Slater, Mo. He was a United States Navy veteran. He worked at the Banquet Foods Plant in Carrollton, Mo., for a number of years before transferring to Con-Agra Foods in Marshall, Mo. He moved to Slater, Mo., from Marshall, Mo., in 1975 and worked at BHA and later GE Energy in Slater, Mo., as a welder until his retirement.
He is survived by two sons, Brad Gastineau and his companion Megan, Marshall, Mo., and Cameron Gastineau and his companion Ann Marie, Boston, Mass.; a daughter, Pamela Witt and husband Michael, Bolivar, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Joshua Michael Witt, Darcey Leigh Witt, Addison Bailey Witt, Lily Brooke Witt, Connor Patrick Gastineau, Alexis Dianne Gastineau and Brayden Lee Gastineau; two brothers, Billy Dean “Bill” Gastineau and wife Rosalee, Simi Valley, Calif., and Steven Mark Gastineau, Wash.; and a sister, Elizabeth “Sue” Taylor, Goodyear, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sharla Lynn Gastineau, and two brothers, Clyde Gastineau and Arnold Gastineau.
Graveside services with military honors will be Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at Ridge Park cemetery, Marshall, Mo., with Michael Witt officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Weiker Funeral Home, Slater, Mo.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Slater.

Shirley Ruth Layman
Shirley Ruth Layman, 86, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Mo.
She was born Aug. 5, 1923 in Winigan, Mo., the daughter of Colonel F. and Daisy V. (Morton) Greenstreet. On Dec. 27, 1941 she married
Leroy Layman in Chillicothe, Mo. He survives of the home.
Shirley was a homemaker and was employed by Des Moines Glove, Des Moines, Iowa for some time.
She is survived by one son, Terrill Gene Layman, Arlington, Wash.; two daughters, Patricia Short, London, England, and Sandra Kay Layman, Lafayette, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo., on Friday, April 2, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call from 8 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.

Oliver Perry Clark III
Oliver Perry Clark III, 70, a former resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died Sept. 9, 2009 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Oliver was born Feb. 6, 1939 in Chillicothe, Mo., to Perry and Mary Susan (Estill) Clark. Later in life he moved to Texas with his wife Carmen “Connie” Clark.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Clark; two sisters, Sabra Rice and Julie Clark; a step-brother, Paul Kitt and wife Betty; nephews, Tim Rice, Paul Clark Rice and wife Jenny, and Andrew Rice and wife Theresa; five nieces and nephews, Jason, Paula, Kathleen, Abby, and Matthew Rice; three step-children, Louis Dracoulis and wife Danielle, Patrick Dracoulis and Meshelle, and Suzette Dracoulis; and stepgrandchildren, Joshua, Louis Daniel, Aaron, Jordan, Jeremy, Jessica and Andrew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a baby sister, Rebecca Susan.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Edgewood cemetery, Chillicothe, Mo. Friends are invited to visit with the family, all of whom will be attending from out of town.

Joseph J. Hinnen
A wonderful husband, dad, and grandfather, Joseph J. Hinnen, was born Dec. 31, 1922 in Chula, Mo., the son of Joseph J. Hinnen, Sr. and Mary Ann (Ruddy) Hinnen and died July 13, 2010 at Solara Hospital in Muskogee, Okla. He married
Mary Nadine Biswell on June 13, 1944 in Chillicothe, Mo. He served in the Army in World War II. He was a man of many talents and skills. One of his grandson’s remarks “he is the smartest man I know.” He had been a farmer, carpenter, truck driver and custodian. He retired in 2009 as custodian of the First Church of the Nazarene. He was also a dedicated member of the church and a faithful follower of the Lord. He married
Laurene Yochum, May 15, 2004 at First Church of the Nazarene in Muskogee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 56 years and mother of his children, Mary Nadine, a twin daughter, Karon Faye Hinnen Simpson, and a sister, Betty Ann Diegelman. He is survived by his three daughters, Patricia Ann Willis and Larry, Sharon Kaye Jones and Jim, Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma, Kathy Marie McEntyre and Dearl of Oktaha, Oklahoma and one son William (Bill) Joseph Hinnen and Thela of Hewitt, Texas; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Patrick and Vicky Willis, Stephen and Lea-Ann, Seymour, Missouri, Lisa Marie Jones Lane, Brandon and Ashley, Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma, Jeffrey Simpson and Jonathan, Sedro Wolley, Washington, Joshua Hinnen, Austin, Texas, James Kevin Jones, Drake and Cade, Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma, Jeremy and Jessica Hinnen and Marcianna, Hewitt, Texas, William Billy Jones, Ft. Gibson, James and Becky Jones Jacobs, Hayden and Noah, Oktaha, Oklahoma, Jason and Michelle Durossette, Dylan and Tyler, Warner, Oklahoma and Brandon Clagg, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Funeral services were 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010 at First Church of the Nazarene in Muskogee. Interment followed in Ft. Gibson National cemetery. Pallbearers were Billy Jones, James Jacobs, Brandon Lane, Patrick Willis, Stephen Willis and Brandon Clagg. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral service arrangements were under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home in Muskogee, Okla.
Hayden Dale McGinnis-Parker
Hayden Dale McGinnis-Parker, 4-month-old infant of Mindy Frohnhoefer and Kevin Parker, passed away Friday, July 16, 2010.
Hayden was born April 3, 2010 in Chillicothe, Mo.
He is survived by his parents, Mindy Frohnhoefer and Kevin Parker, Chillicothe, Mo.; two brothers and two sisters, Kayli and Dominic Cole, and Isaac and Abbygayle Wilson; maternal grandparents, Teresa (Don) Ives, Hamilton, Mo., and David McGinnis, Richmond, Mo.; paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Triesa Parker, Cameron, Mo.; great-grandparents, Teresa Howell, Breckenridge, Mo., and Gilbert Parker, Altamont; aunt, Lahoma Oliver, Chillicothe, Mo.; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Wells of Joy Church, east of Hamilton, Mo. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Wells of Joy cemetery.

Susan Esther Coon
Susan Esther Coon, 48, of Milan, Mo., died Monday, June 28, 2010 in Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo.
She was born Dec. 7, 1961 in Higbee, Mo., the daughter of Geraldine Smith. On June 4, 1977 she married
Gary Dean Coon, who preceded her in death on May 16, 2005.
Mrs. Coon was raised in the Milan, Mo., area and attended Milan C-2 schools. She was a member of the Milan Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Geraldine and Bill Ingram, Milan, Mo.; four sons, Jesse Coon, Monroe City, Mo., and Larry, Aaron and Jonathan Coon, all of Milan, Mo.; three daughters, Rosemary and Karen Coon, both of Trenton, Mo., and Kathy Coon, Green City, Mo.; two brothers, Clint Smith, Savannah, Ga., and John Washington Smith, Higbee, Mo.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Travis Coon on June 25, 2000 and her father-in-law, Dean Coon.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2010 in the Glenn E. Kent & Son Funeral Home in Milan, Mo., with Robert Hutchinson officiating. Music will be selected recordings. Burial will be in the Shatto cemetery. Casket bearers will be Ethan Richardson, Bill Casteel, Frank Leslie, Randy Custer, Rocky Magney, Patrick Dickson, Mark Frazier, and Steve Riker. Honorary bearers will be Steve Jordan, Trent Jones, and B. R. Richardson.

Anna L. Houston, 86, a former resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Carroll County Hospital, Carrollton, Mo.
Anna was born Dec. 31, 1923 in Collinsville, Mo., the daughter of Carl and Julia (Worley) Bowman. On March 13, 1943 she married
William F. Houston in Unionville, Mo.
She is survived by her husband, William Houston, Carrollton, Mo.; two daughters, Deana Carr and husband Tom, Yukon, Okla., Dorothy Thrasher and husband Joseph, Blue Springs, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, Kirk Houston, Kirksville, Mo., Carla Tucker, Oak Harbor, Wash., Kim Houston, Hallsville, Mo., Chris Houston, Newtown, Mo., Jeanie Coin, Newtown, Mo., Rebecca Licon, San Antonio, Texas, Robert Springston, Jr., Chillicothe, Mo. Frank Sprinston, Nashville, Tenn., Grace Atchison, Milledgeville, Ga., Shane Houston and Shawn Houston, Ames, Iowa, Cheryl Stephens, DeSoto, Kan., and Karen McCune, Salanis, Calif.; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Marion Houston.
Services will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. There will be a scheduled family visitation on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 from 12 to 9 p.m.

Catherine Lucille (Boelsen) Ellison
Catherine Lucille (Boelsen) Ellison, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 10, 2010, with family by her side. She was born in a farmhouse on Dec. 22, 1914 at Miami Station, Mo., to Louis T. and Helen C. Boelsen. Known as “Lucille” by her family and friends, she was the first child born into the Louis Boelsen family in the rural farmland of northwestern Missouri. All of the years of her childhood and youth were spent on the farms in Carroll County, Mo., living most of the time on the family farm about five miles outside of Hale, Mo.
After graduating from Hale High School, Lucille attended William Woods College, where she studied home economics and education. She graduated in 1935 and moved back to the family farm and began teaching elementary grades at Hale School, a one-room schoolhouse. In April 1941, Lucille married
Irvin Ellison, who was also a school teacher, administrator and coach. She continued to teach in elementery schools in Hale, Avalon, Gilman City, Deepwater and Norborne, Mo., where they raised their three children.
In 1985, Irvin and Lucille, with their three children, Barbara, Robert and Richard, moved to sunny California for the hope and opportunity of the West Coast. They started Coast Appliance Parts in partnership with Leonard and Volly Ellison, Irvin’s brother and sister-in-law. Lucille served as the corporate secretary, bookkeeper and partner in the company. For the next 25 years, they built the company into a successful business expanding throughout Southern California, eventually selling the company in the early 1980s. They retired and continued to live in Northridge, Calif.
Lucille had a lifetime of commitment and involvement with her church and PEO International. She will be remembered by all as a faithful Christian servant, a loyal friend, loving caregiver and an intelligent businesswoman, all traits she maintained throughout her life. She had a wonderful sense of humor, genuine concern for others and an infectious laugh that could brighten the day for those around her.
Lucille is survived by her children, Barbara Johanson of Bethel Park, Penn.; Robert (Toni) of North Hills, Calif.; and Richard of Chico, Calif.; grandchildren, Samantha (David) Zeiders, Nathaniel (Kristen) Johanson and Andrew Johanson; and great-grandchildren Dylan Zeiders and Logan Zeiders.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sister, Marjorie Ellwein. She is fondly remembered by many family, neighbors and friends, whose lives she touched with her warmth and generosity.
A memorial service was held June 15, 2010 in Northridge, Calif., with burial at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth, Calif.
