Felix Buckner
Felix Buckner, 93, of Wheeling, Mo., died at Indian Hills Nursing Home in Chillicothe, Mo., on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010.
He was born on Dec. 27, 1916, the son of Henry W. and Ina Barnett Buckner in Linn County, Mo. He graduated from Chula High School, Chula, Mo., in 1934. He served in the United States Navy from 1944-46 in World War II. On Feb. 10, 1945, he married
Helen Constant in Oakland, Calif. She survives of the home.
Felix was a resident of Wheeling since 1935 where he was a proud and successful farmer. He loved to play cards and work in his flower garden. Felix loved his family and was especially proud of his grandkids. He always looked forward to their visits.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Wayman and husband Gene of Blue Springs, Mo., and Pat Williams and husband Keith of Savannah, Mo.; six grandchildren, Melissa McKerlie of Kansas City, Mo., Mike Hamer of Utica, Mo., Jennifer Hamer of Blue Springs, and Scott E. Shannon, Todd Shannon and Emily Shannon of Chillicothe; and one great-grandchild, Hannah Hamer of Blue Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and four sisters.
Services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010 at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, at 1:30 p.m. There will be a family visitation on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wheeling cemetery, Wheeling. Memorial contributions may be made to Livingston County Senior Center and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.

Dixie Lee Bradshaw Vitt
Dixie Lee Bradshaw Vitt, 81, of Lawrence, Kan., died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, Kan.
Dixie was born Feb. 23, 1928 in Lock Springs, Mo., the daughter of Grover E. and Mary Lee Eads Bradshaw. She married
Wayne Joseph Vitt on July 23, 1947 in Lawrence, Kan. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2000.
She graduated from Lock Springs High School, Lock Springs, Mo., in 1946. She worked for the Douglas County Treasury Office, she was a secretary at Cordley School, and was employed at Janelle’s Dress Shop. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church and had been a past member in the Trinity Episcopal Church Alter Guild.
She moved to Lawrence, Kan., from Lock Springs, Mo., in 1946.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane Hendry and husband Joe, Lawrence, Kan., Cheryl Mitchell and husband Steve, Lawrence, Kan.; two brothers, Howard Bradshaw, Excelsior Springs, Mo., Ritchie Bradshaw, Blue Springs, Mo.; three sisters, Ruby Williams, Kansas City, Kan., Nadene Stamper, Utica, Mo., Helen Bradshaw, Gladstone, Mo.; four grandchildren, Andrew Mitchell and wife Amy, Lawrence, Kan., Jared Mitchell, Lawrence, Kan., Stacy Mitchell, Emporia, Mo., Joanna Jones and husband Patrick, Weatherford, Texas; one great-grandson, Enzo Mitchell, Lawrence, Kan.; long time friend, Velma Mignot, Lawrence, Kan.; and a great many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Marian Bradshaw and one brother, Robert Bradshaw.
Memorial services were held Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 at Trinity Episcopal Church. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Kansas Lung Association and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence, Kan.

James Vandiver
James Lee Vandiver, 67, died on Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, after complications from pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome at Kaiser Permanente Hospital, San Jose (Santa Teresa), Calif.
Jim was the beloved husband of Jean, devoted father of Alex (Pamela) and Lee Ann; loving grandfather to George and Alexandra; dear brother of Sue (Paul) Loth, dearest son of the late Dale and the late Margaret Vandiver; and loved dearly by a host of other relatives and very dear friends.
Originally from Missouri, Jim met his wife of 44 years while both were teaching high school near Kansas City in 1965. His passion for education continued throughout his professional life spending more than 35 years in educational publishing while residing in Illinois, Texas and California.
He was a sportsman, playing football and basketball for Chillicothe High School and later varsity basketball at Missouri Valley College. Jim’s lifelong love of golf manifested many friendships and a wealth of memories, including five hole-in-ones. Whether as a high school basketball coach, a coach for his children’s junior teams or a mentor to many of his colleagues, Jim always found time to support others in their pursuits.
Mr. Vandiver was a member of the Silver Creek Valley neighborhood of San Jose since 1998. He also served on Silver Creek Valley Country Club’s Board until the end of 2009.
All friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service Saturday, February 13 at 10:00a.m. at the Santa Teresa Hills Presbyterian Church, 5370 Snell Avenue , San Jose , CA 95123. A luncheon reception nearby will follow shortly thereafter.
