Norma Ann Carpenter, 79, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., passed away Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo., on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 2 p.m. There will be a scheduled family visitation held prior to services from 1 to 2 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Friends may call on Saturday, April 11, 2009 from 12 noon until 5 p.m. and on Monday, April 13, 2009 from 8 a.m. until service time at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Burial will be in Stucker cemetery, Laredo, Mo.

Cannon McMillan, 78, of Meadville, Mo., died Thursday, April 9, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

Cannon Malone was born March 11, 1931 in Hope, Ark., son of Mack Albert and Mertie (Ebling) McMillen.

John M. Trageser
John M. Trageser, 52, of Braymer, Mo., passed away at his home on Monday, April 6, 2009 in the arms of his sister, Mary Helen, with his pet dog, Romeo and his friend and nurse, Beverly Copple, by his side.

He was born Sept. 13, 1956 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of John Joseph and Margaret Ann Crahan Trageser. He was a 1974 graduate of Braymer High School, Braymer, Mo. He attended the Chillicothe Vocational Technical School, Chillicothe, Mo.

Barbara A. Biggerstaff
Barbara A. Biggerstaff, 79, a resident of Wheeling, Mo., and Chillicothe, Mo., passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Mo.

Services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Wheeling, Mo., at 10 a.m. Family visitation will be held Thursday, April 9, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Friends may call from 12 noon until 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo.

Ilah Mae Higgins, 94, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Hedrick Medical Center with her family by her side.

Ilah was born Jan. 19, 1915 in Meadville, Mo., the daughter of J. Lindley and Grace (Lay) Norman. She married Cecil E. Higgins in Kansas City, Mo., on Nov. 23, 1941. He preceded her in death.

Jake Ray Stroup
Jake Ray Stroup, 78, a resident of Braymer, Mo., passed away on Monday, April 6, 2009 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.

Jake was born Dec. 15, 1930 in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Richard B. and Elizra M. (Clark) Stroup. On March 20, 1954 he married Doris in Kansas City, Mo. She survives of the home.

Suzanne Hatcher
Suzanne Hatcher, 61, a resident of St. Joseph, Mo., passed away at the Arbor View Nursing Facility, St. Joseph, Mo., on Wednesday, April 1, 2009.

Suzanne was born Sept. 9, 1947 in Phoenix, Ariz., the daughter of Claude Oscar Jr., and Edna (Kastner) Hatcher.

Ilah Mae Higgins, 93, of Chillicothe, Mo., died at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe, Mo., on Sunday, April 5.

William “Bill” Pfaff
William “Bill” Pfaff, 76, of Odessa, Mo., died Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs, Mo.
He was born March 23, 1933 in Chillicothe, Mo., the son of Carl Pfaff and Margurite Murphy Pfaff.
On Aug. 6, 1994, he married LaVonna Mae Beemer Crumpley in Odessa, Mo. She survives of the home.

Ernest W. “Dub” Timmons
Ernest W. “Dub” Timmons, age 82, a resident of Wheeling, Missouri passed away at his home, in the same farmhouse in which he was born, on Saturday, April 4, 2009.
Dub was born on September 14, 1926, in Wheeling, the son of Ernest William Sr. and Mary Ellen (Nell) Lawler Timmons.

John M. Trageser, 52, of Braymer, Mo., died at his residence on Monday, April 6, 2009.

Ruth Wilson Storey
Ruth Wilson Storey, age 89, of Chillicothe, Missouri passed away at her home on April 4, 2009, surrounded by her family and friends. Ruth was born July 14, 1919 in Sturges, Missouri. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend.

Franklin (Frank) George Maberry
In accordance with his express wishes, the family of Frank Maberry is hosting a gathering of his family and friends in his honor, at his home in Apple Valley, California. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life on the anniversary of his birth, April 18, 2009, beginning at 2:30p.m. Food and drink will be served. Jennie Lynn Taylor
Jennie Lynn Taylor, 75, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., passed away at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Mo., on Thursday, April 2, 2009.

Jennie was born Jan. 22, 1934 in Chillicothe, Mo., the daughter of Nicholas and Dorothy Henrietta (Colvin) Williams. She was a 1951 graduate of Chillicothe High School and a 1953 graduate of Chillicothe Business College. On Sept. 18, 1955, she married Byron David “Doc” Taylor in Chillicothe, Mo. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2008.

Frank William Brunia
Frank William Brunia, 61, died Sunday, March 22, 2009.

Frank was born May 14, 1947 in Des Moines, son of Frank and Lois L. Brunia.

He attended country school in Warren County and graduated from Indianola High School. He then attended Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Mo., for a year and then enlisted in the military serving in Berlin, Germany from 1967 to 1973. After service, he returned to NWMSU where he met his future wife, Edith Harris.

Don W. Kirkpatrick
Don W. Kirkpatrick, 71, died on March 29, 2009 unexpectedly at his home in Independence. Don was born January 3, 1938, in Warrensburg, MO son of Jessamine and James C. Kirkpatrick.

Don married his high school sweetheart, Annetta Fraley, on June 23, 1956. He is survived by his wife, Annetta: a daughter, Dee A. Yancey and husband Craig of Holden; and two sons, James K. Kirkpatrick and wife Kristy of Pleasant Hill and Larry D. Kirkpatrick and wife Marla of Warrensburg; 6 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dorothy Jane Lee
Dorothy Jane Lee, 85, of Holts Summit, Mo., died Friday, March 27, 2009 at The Boone Medical Center, Columbia, Mo.

Dorothy was born on May 17, 1923 in San Jose, Calif., daughter of William and Dorothy Butterfield Harworth. She married Charles D. “Don” Lee on Dec. 8, 1951 in Carson City, Nev. He survives of the home.

Norman J. Lain
Norman J. Lain, 46, of Liberty, Mo., passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009, peacefully at his home after a long courageous battle with brain cancer.

Norm was born Jan. 29, 1963 in Merriam, Kan, son of Franklin K. and Virginia Lain. He was a 1981 graduate of Shawnee Mission Northwest High School.

Kenny Hoskins
Kenny Hoskins, 83, of Linneus, Mo., died Monday, March 30, 2009 at his home.

Kenny had operated Powell Motors in Linneus, Mo., with his father-in-law, Claude Powell and for the last 36 years with his sons, Kerry and Tony, his daughter, Kathi and long time employee, David Foster.

Nancy Graves
Nancy Graves, 60, a resident of St. Joseph, Mo., passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2009 at her home in St. Joseph, Mo.

Nancy was born Dec. 6, 1948 in Chillicothe, Mo., daughter of Kenneth and Nancy Jean (Keith) Graves.

Raymond Ellis Hall
Chillicothe, Mo. - Raymond Ellis Hall, 69, of Purdin, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 in Brookfield, Mo.
Raymond Ellis was born Aug. 22, 1939 in Chillicothe, Mo., son of Raymond Owen and Rosie May (Allnut) Hall. On July 1, 1966 he married Linda Waltz in Purdin, Mo.
Raymond Ellis was in the Army National Guard. He worked as an iron worker. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Purdin, Mo.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; two sons, Terry Hall, Purdin, Mo., and Ronnie Blair, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Cindy Allen, Kansas City, Mo., and Holly Burkholder, of the home; three brothers, Max, Owen and Gary Hall; two sisters, Carolyn Hall and Pam Bower; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two nephews, Nick Bower and Phillip Hall, and his father and mother-in-law, Floyd and Geraldine Waltz.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the Gods Garden Church, Brookfield, Mo., with Pastor Frank Bolin officiating. Burial will be in teh Purdin cemetery, Purdin, Mo. Visitation will be held Friday, June 5, 2009 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at God’s Garden Church, Brookfield, Mo.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Rhodes Funeral Home, 216 Linn Street, Brookfield, Mo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield, Mo.

Mary Stamper Bosler
Mary Stamper Bosler, 87, of Chillicothe, Mo., died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Mo.

Mary was born on July 26, 1921 in Utica, Mo., daughter of Ashford Jackson Stamper and Hazel Kent Stamper Remick. She married Marvin Edwin Bosler in Utica, Mo., on Dec. 27, 1941. He preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 2006.

Bob R. Moss
Chillicothe, Mo. - Bob R. Moss, 83, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at his home.
Bob was born March 7, 1926 in Eldon, Mo., son of Edwin and Vinita Allen Moss. On Sept. 4, 1949 he married Ruby Gattermeir at the Christian Church in Olean, Mo.
He graduated from Eldon High School, Eldon, Mo., in 1944 and immediately joined the United States Air Force. He served as a cryptographer until his discharge in April 1946.
In 1950 he graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo., with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. In June of that year, they moved to Chillicothe, Mo., and Bob was employed by Ted J. Frick, C.P.A. After passing the C.P.A. exam he became a partner in the firm which eventually became Harden, Cummins, Moss and Miller. Bob retired in Sept. 2005.
He was active in the First Christian Church, 50 year member and past-president of Kiwanis, at one time danced with the Peppy Promenaders Square Dance Club, was a member of the Friendship Lodge No. 89 and until recently was treasurer of the Masonic Temple Board. He played in dance bands while a student at the university; was organist of the First Christian Church for 35 years and was pianist for Kiwanis. He enjoyed music and antique cars.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Ruby, and daughters, Jane Johnson, Reno, Nev., Ann Bornsheuer, Overland Park, Kan., Martha Taylor, Liberty, Mo., and Marilyn Buck, Tallahassee, Fla; sons-in-law, Charles Johnson, Bill Bornsheuer, Buzz Taylor and John Buck; and seven grandchildren, Sara and Chris Johnson, Dan, Andy and Lauren Taylor, and Abigail and Laura Buck.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Chillicothe, Mo. Burial will be in Edgewood cemetery, Chillicothe, Mo. Friends may call on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 after 9 a.m. and family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or Hedrick Medical Center Hospice and may be left at or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo.

Mary Elizabeth Crist
Mary Elizabeth Crist, 86, a resident of Braymer, Mo., passed away at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, Mo., on Sunday, April 19, 2009.

Mary was born April 14, 1923 in Cowgill, Mo., the daughter of William and Mabel (Webster) Orr. She married Woodrow Basham on June 1, 1940. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1960. She married Lamont Crist on March 1, 1969. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1984.
Mary lived in the Cowgill-Braymer, Mo., area all of her life.

Woodrow W. Ewen
On Saturday, April 18th, 2009, Mr. Woodrow W. Ewen, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Mabel E. Ewen; loving father of Woodrow W. Ewen II, David L. Ewen, Dudley B. Ewen, Marilyn E. Ewen, Eric W. Ewen, and E. Bambi Wilson; cherished grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, passed away at the age of 88 years.

Peggy Meek
Chillicothe, Mo. - Peggy Meek, 73, a resident of Trenton, Mo., passed away on Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Indian Hills Retirement Center, Chillicothe, Mo., where she had resided since Jan. 31, 2009.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1935 in Trenton, Mo., the daughter of Ralph and Agnes Holt Lankford. She was married to Charles W. Meek on Sept. 16, 1955 in Trenton, Mo. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2002.
She worked in customer service at the local Trenton cable TV company. She was active in the community in various organizations.
Mrs. Meek was a member of the Tenth Street Baptist Church where she was active in many functions.
Mrs. Meek is survived by a son, Wayne Meek and his wife Becky, Siloam Springs, Ark.; a daughter, Rebecca Newkirk and her husband Scott, Trenton, Mo.; a brother, Bill Lankford and his wife Carolyn, Fulton, Ill.; six grandchildren, Natalie Ferguson, Brian Meek and his wife Lindsey, Craig Meek, Richard Leeper and his wife Cassie, Christopher Clause and his wife Courtney, and Rhiannon Clause; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a granddaughter, Gretta Leeper.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Tenth Street Baptist Church, Trenton, Mo. A scheduled visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Resthaven Mortuary, Trenton, Mo. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Trenton, Mo.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Grundy County Relay For Life or the Tenth Street Baptist Church, these can be left at or mailed to Resthaven Mortuary, P.O. Box 587, Trenton, MO 64683.
Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Mortuary, Trenton, Mo.

Irene Murphy
Irene Murphy, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., passed away at her residence Sunday, April 19, 2009.

Irene was born Feb. 28, 1915 in Ludlow, Mo., the daughter of Edward and Julia (Dooley) Murphy.

Irene was a 1932 Chillicothe High School graduate, Chillicothe, Mo. She managed the family farm all of her life. She was a member of the St. Columban’s Church, Chillicothe, Mo. Irene was also active in the St. Ann Altar Society at St. Columban’s Church.

Ruth Lenore Boyles
Ruth Lenore Boyles, 94, of Chillicothe, Mo., died Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Mo.

Ruth was born Sept. 17, 1914 in Boomer, Mo., the daughter of Galen Weaver Lewis and Erma Lenora Clinefelter Lewis. On Sept. 10, 1937 Ruth married Glenn Harter Boyles in Linneus, Mo. They were married for 54 years. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1992.

Clifford Jack Lamp
Clifford Jack Lamp, 84, of Sedalia, Mo., passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009, at his home.

He was born Jan. 25, 1925, in Livingston County, Mo., son of Samuel and Anna Nibarger Lamp. On Feb. 23, 1946, in Albert Lea, Minn., he married Georgia F. Dust, who survives of the home.
