Joseph Breeden
Chillicothe, Mo. - Joseph Breeden, 78, a resident of Laclede, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009 at his home.
Joseph was born May 1, 1930 in Livingston County, Mo., son of James Everett and Lydia Olenena (Cisco) Breeden. He married Betty Constant in Blue Mound, Mo., on March 19, 1971.
Joseph worked as a truck driver and an animal control officer. He enjoyed horseback riding, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; three sons, Donnie Breeden and wife Lisa, Brookfield, Mo., Bryan Bennett and wife Sandy, Chillicothe, Mo., James Breeden and wife Tammy, Breckenridge, Mo.; three daughters, Jodie Harper and husband Kenneth, Laclede, Mo., Mary Taylor and husband Robbie, Chillicothe, Mo., Caryoln Vo, Breckenridge, Mo.; one brother, Harold Breeden, Tenn.; one sister, Georgie Schmidt, Waverly, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, Ronnie; one brother, William Breeden; three sisters, Lois Graves, Jane Venneman and Louise Wilson.
A scheduled family visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 from 12 noon until 9 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. A graveside committal service will be held at Wheeling cemetery, Wheeling, Mo., on Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Wheeling cemetery, Wheeling, Mo.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Samaritan Dialysis, Macon, Mo., and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.

Marvin Eugene Baxter
Chillicothe, Mo. - Marvin Eugene Baxter, 84, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Mo.
Marvin Eugene was born April 23, 1924 in Wheeling, Mo., son of George and Burla (Snow) Baxter. He married Geraldine Blanche Tomlin in Chillicothe, Mo., on March 10, 1948. She survives of the home.
He was a 1941 graduate of Wheeling High School, Wheeling, Mo. He served in the United States Army from 1944 until 1946 during World War II, touring in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater and earning a Victory and Good Conduct Medal and a Bronze Battle Star.
Eugene worked as a farmer for most of his life and was owner of Baxter and Son’s Trucking. He was a member of the Wheeling Baptist Church, Wheeling, Mo., as well as Roy L. Burkett VFW Post #858, Chillicothe, Mo., and Vern R. Glick American Legion Post #25, Chillicothe, Mo. Eugene bowled on a league for 29 years, was an avid Kansas City Royals and George Brett fan and enjoyed years of traveling, card playing and coffee shop visits with friends.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine, of the home; one son, Danny Eugene Baxter and wife Barbara, Chillicothe, Mo.; three daughters, Brenda June Heller, Blue Springs, Mo., Kim Alane Walz and husband Jerry, Chillicothe, Mo., Kristine Lea Cranmer and husband Tim, Chillicothe, Mo.; two sisters, Doris Hendrix, Chillicothe, Mo., and Lucille Shrimpton, Ozark, Mo.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Celia Ruth Arthaud; one brother, Russell Baxter and three sisters, Cuma Mumpower, Merle Miller and Barbara Owen.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. There will be a scheduled family visitation on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009 from 12 noon until 9 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Mo.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wheeling Baptist Church and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.

James Timothy “Jim” Gibson
Chillicothe, Mo. - James Timothy “Jim” Gibson, 78, a resident of Seattle, Wash., formerly of Livingston County, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 at his home in Seattle, Wash.
James was born March 15, 1930 in Livingston County, the son of William A. and Mary Elizabeth (Regan) Gibson.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953. He then started work in the construction business as a member of Laborer’s Union Local 242 in Seattle, Wash.
He is survived by his brother, William “Bill” Gibson, Chillicothe, Mo.; sister, Mary Jean Davies, Sunrise Beach, Mo.; three nieces; and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Raymond Gibson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Columban’s Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Mo., on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009 at 10 a.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009 from 12 noon until 9 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Burial will be in Rickett cemetery, Chula, Mo.

Howard E. Durnil
Chillicothe, Mo. - Howard E. Durnil, 74, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009 at his home.
He was born the son of Glen and Dorothy V. (Wright) Durnil on Dec. 17, 1934 in Avalon, Mo. He married Dollie Etta Durnil on Sept. 7, 1973 in Miami, Okla.
Howard worked as a farmer in the Chillicothe area and was a member of the Oakland Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife Dollie Durnil, of the home; three sons, Howard and wife Sonja Green, Bogard, Mo., Forest Durnil, Chillicothe, Mo., and Michael Kelso, Chillicothe, Mo.; five daughters, Donna and husband Alan Miles, Ludlow, Mo., Dolores and husband Keith Willis, Dixon, Mo., Carmelia and Gary Bannan, Chillicothe, Mo., Lori Spainhour and Christopher Hulett, Mooresville, Mo., and Doris Hicks, Chillicothe, Mo.; one sister, Phyllis Hunt, Leawood, Kan.; one aunt, Gladys Durnil, Kewani, Ill.; as well as many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Dorothy Durnil; two brothers, Marvin and Bruce; and two sisters, Violet and an infant, Betty.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Braden cemetery, Tina, Mo. There will be a family visitation on Monday, Jan. 19, 2009 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, 2009 at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Burial will be at the Braden cemetery, Tina, Mo.

Roy R. Haley
Chillicothe, Mo. -
Roy R. Haley, 86, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died at his home on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009.
He was born on Oct. 12, 1922, the son of Earl W. and Olive A. (Rose) Haley in Chillicothe, Mo. He served in the United States Army from 1942 until 1945 during World War II. On Jan. 15, 1949, he married Clarice Walker in Chillicothe, Mo. She survives of the home.
Roy worked as a Warehouse Foreman for Farmer’s Electric Cooperative for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Clarice, of the home; two sons, Raymond Haley and wife Wanda, Chillicothe, Mo., David Haley and wife Karen, Olathe, Kan.; three sisters, Eunice Rutledge, Bogard, Mo., Melvina Campbell, Joplin, Mo., Irene Bates, Albia, Iowa; six grandchildren, Clint Haley and Lisa Brown, Chillicothe, Mo., Laura Haley, Milan, Mo., Eric Haley, Kristen McCullough and Andrea Haley, Olathe, Kan.; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Irvin W. Haley; two sisters, Madylon Pulverente and Elizabeth Walker; great-grandson, Gabriel Navarrete.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo., on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009 at 10 a.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call on Monday after 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. and on Tuesday after 8 a.m. until service time at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Mo.

Delila Faye Hawkins,
Chillicothe, Mo. - Funeral services were held at Concordia Baptist Church with the Rev. Derek Steinmuller officiating. Burial was in Braymer cemetery.
Mrs. Hawkins was born on Feb. 26, 1942, at Mountain View. She was the daughter of Ernest and Gladys Irene Ewing McGuire. She was a 1960 graduate of Chillicothe High School. She married Clarence Hawkins on May 29, 1960. She had lived in Concordia for the last 30 years, moving from Higginsville. She had worked as an inspector for Unitog in Concordia for 30 years. She was a member of Concordia Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hawkins is survived by her husband, of the home; two daughters, Sherrie Kamery of Concordia, and Patricia Gammill, of St. Joseph; two brothers, Don McGuire of Mendon and Harold Eugene McGuire of Higginsville; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the church.
Arrangements were made by Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home, Concordia.

Vivian Lee Van Dyke
Chillicothe, Mo. - Vivian Lee Van Dyke, 73, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009 at his home peacefully surrounded by his family.
Vivian was born June 7, 1935 in Linneus, Mo., the son of Claude and Effie (Sailsbury) Van Dyke. He married Alice Pfaff in Chillicothe, Mo., on April 19, 1958.
He was a 1954 graduate of Meadville High School, Meadville, Mo.
Vivian served in the United States Army from 1958 until 1960, where he received a Good Conduct Medal. He worked for Churchill Trucking for 32 years until his retirement. He worked at CarQuest for 13 years, drove for Chillicothe Ford, and worked for Lindley Funeral Home for many years after his retirement. He was a member of the St. Columban’s Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Mo.
Survivors include his wife, Alice, of the home; three sons, Kevin Van Dyke and wife Ronda, Lathrop, Mo., Robert Van Dyke and wife Rebecca, Norfolk, Va., and Daniel Van Dyke and wife Jenifer, Jacksonville, Fla.; four daughters, Catherine Pease and husband Robert, Kansas City, Mo., Linda Drummond and husband Dennis, Plattsburg, Mo., Audrey Large and husband Tom, Independence, Mo., Carolyn McGeeney and husband Tim, Gladstone, Mo.; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Junior Van Dyke, Russell Van Dyke, Edwin Van Dyke, Earl Van Dyke; three sisters, Frances Woolridge, Ruby Herring and Dorothy Kirby.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Columban’s Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Mo., on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. A parish rosary will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo., on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009 at 7 p.m. There will be a family visitation following the rosary. Friends may call after 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2009 and from 12 noon until 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009 at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Burial will be at St. Columban’s Catholic cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bishop Hogan School and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.

Tina M. Wever Frazier
Chillicothe, Mo. - Tina known as “Tee”, age 43, of Monroe, Michigan, passed away Monday, January 5, 2009 at the University of Michigan Hospital.
Tina touched the hearts of so many, young and old. She was always willing to put her family and friends’ needs above her own. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Nana, Daughter, Sister, and Aunt. There was one person that brought Nana Tina the most joy in a very small period of time, her one and only granddaughter Emalee. Tee’s other pride and joys included Gwin, Sammie, Nate, Lonnie, Derek, Blake, who she loved watching grow. Tina is survived by her husband of 22 years, Jeff Frazier of Monroe, Michigan; daughter, Kristy Hill and granddaughter Emalee Hill of Cape Coral, Florida; stepmother, Bonnie Wever of Independence, Missouri; brother James L. Wever of Hamilton, Missouri; sisters, Tammy Sperry and Teresa Griswold both of Independence, Missouri; nieces, Kandy Wever and Kindra Sperry of Independence, Missouri; great-nephews Isaiah and Damian; and many friends. Tina is preceded in death by both her parents, Adelbert and Ruby Wever; sister, Patricia Lynn Wever; brothers, Terry Joe Wever and Lloyd Merle Wever; and nephew Jeremy Ly An Wever. Tina was loved by all and will truly be missed!
Services will be on Saturday, January 17, 2009. Family and friends are asked to be at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri at 10:00 a.m., and then we will proceed to the services/burial at Utica cemetery.

Miss Lola Mack
Chillicothe, Mo. - Longtime Trenton teacher Miss Lola Mack, 96, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, Mo.
Miss Mack was born on Nov. 30, 1912 in the Rabbit Ridge community in Grundy County, Mo., the daughter of the late Woodford and Sallie Slonecker Mack.
She attended the Pleasant Grove rural elementary school. She became a member of the Liberty Chapel Church. She graduated from Trenton High School in 1930. After attending Trenton Junior College she graduated from Northwest Missouri State Teachers College at Maryville, Mo., with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education.
Miss Mack was a teacher in the rural Grundy and Livingston Counties one room schools for 11 years. After moving to Trenton she taught fourth grade in the Trenton R-9 school system for 36 years.
Miss Mack was an active member of the First Christian Church and the Grundy County Retired Teachers Association. For a while she was a deacon at the church and among her other responsibilities she taught Sunday school classes, was a member and President of the Christian Women’s Fellowship and the church librarian for several years. She also was a member and past president of the Trenton Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was the secretary of the Church Women’s United and recently was an active member of the Church Women’s Campbell Circle.
Miss Mack is survived by several nieces and nephews; step-nieces and nephews are Mrs. Lolila Cramer, Ludlow, Mo., Mrs. Letha Woodard, Trenton, Mo., Wallace Mack, Chula, Mo., and Anna Lou Martin, Columbia, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a step-sister Mrs. Lida Altenderfer; 2 step-brothers, Charley and Oscar Mack, all from Grundy County, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Trenton, Mo. Visitation will begin after 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009 at the Whitaker Eads Funeral Home in Trenton, Mo. A scheduled family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Maple Grove cemetery at Trenton, Mo.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Whitaker Eads Funeral Home, Trenton, Mo.

Charles W. Marriott
Chillicothe, Mo. - Surrounded by family and friends Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, Charles Marriott ended his four-year battle with multiple myeloma at the age of 67.
He was born on Aug. 24, 1941 in Stover, Mo. He was the second son of Gilbert and Mildred Taylor Marriott. As a graduate of Hale, Mo., in 1959 he was an excellent basketball and track athlete.
On July 1, 1961, he married Margie Hall at Chula Baptist Church in Chula, Mo. Later they began attending Calvary Baptist Church in Chillicothe, Mo., where he remains an inactive deacon. He enjoyed fishing and hunting all types of wild life especially deer, turkey, and taking yearly trips to Colorado for elk. Several other hobbies included going to rodeos, fishing, caring for and riding horses, going camping and going to different family activities. His Sunday schedule included church, family breakfast, NASCAR, and riding his horses: Pardner, Cheyenne and Drifter. His organizations included American Paint Horse Association, American Quarter Horse Association, and American Archery Association. After 22 years of dedicated work he retired from Hy-Vee.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gilbert Marriott Jr. and Phillip Marriott. Charles is survived by his loving wife Margie of 47 years; three children, Wayne and Pam Marriott of Chula, Mo., Matt and Janet Marriott of Chillicothe, Mo., and Charlene and Vern Constant of Chula, Mo.; 10 grandchildren: Michael and Brett Marriott of Columbia, Mo., Monica and Kristen Marriott of Columbus, Neb., Derek Marriott (USMC) of San Diego, Calif., Rachel Kline of Chillicothe, Mo., Charlie and Shelby Constant of Chula, Mo., and one brother, Robert and Shirley Marriott of Chillicothe, Mo. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
While having a son and grandson in the United States Marine Corp. and a son in the United States Army, Charles was a strong supporter of our troops. The two most important things he held near to him were his love for his family who were by his side Thursday afternoon and God who is still by his side today.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church in Chillicothe, Mo. at 3 p.m.
The Rev. Alan Brock officiated the ceremony, assisted by Rev. Larry Reeter.
Music was provided by taped selections.
Pallbearers were Micheal Marriott, Brett Marriott, Derek Marriott, Charlie Constant, Jeff Marriott and Dale Marriott.
Honorary Pallbearers were Bob Denton, Robert Denton, Dean Bonnett, Gordon Kemp, Wayne Mendenhall, Donald Marriott, and Jim Carver.
Interment was at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe, Mo.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe.

Hunter Joel Fidler
Chillicothe, Mo. - Hunter Joel Fidler, 13 months, of Trenton, Mo., died at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009.
He was born on Dec. 12, 2007 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Dwayne and Renee Pippin Fidler.
Survivors include his parents, maternal grandparents, Rob and Debbie Pippin of Adrian, Mo., and Missy and Scott Pierce of Kansas City, Kan.; paternal grandparents, Tom and Diane Pittman of Breckenridge, Mo.; paternal great-grandmother, Betty Fidler of Chillicothe, Mo., and great-grandparents, Howard and Nora Pittman of Breckenridge, Mo.; maternal great-great grandmother, Delores Pippin of Raymore, Mo. He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandfather, Denzil Fidler and maternal great-grandfather, Jim Pippin.
Funeral services were held at the Soul’s Harbor Church of God in Chillicothe, Mo., on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009 at 10 a.m.
Bishop Beryl Darnell officiated.
Pallbearers were Rob Pippin, Tom Pittman and Scott Pierce.
Honorary pallbearers were Kyle Pittman, Burt Hawkins and Will Jackson.
Interment was at Evergreen cemetery in Cameron, Mo.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe, Mo.
