Clinton Ray “Skip” Perry
Clinton Ray “Skip” Perry, age 59, Jasper, Mo., passed away at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Perry was born July 16, 1943 at Heber Springs, Ark. He was the son of Clinton E. and Margaret Elizabeth (Hurst) Perry. He lived most of his life in Jasper County, Mo., and worked as a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Jasper. He had dual membership in the Alba Masonic Lodge No. 369 and the Masonic Lodge Mount Hope of Odessa, Mo. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years. He was a former director and vice president of the Missouri Pet Breeders. He served in the U.S. Air Force in 1963.
Mr. Perry was united in marriage to Patricia Kay Sadler on Sept. 1, 1962 in Kansas City, Mo. She survives.
Additional survivors include his mother, Elizabeth Perry, Carthage, Mo.; two sons, Jon Perry, Carthage, and Clinton R. Perry Jr., Higginsville, Mo.; one daughter, Carol Reynolds, LaMonte, Mo.; one brother, Jon D. Perry, Boone’s Mill, Va.; one sister, Toni Pennington, Independence, Mo.; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper. Burial will be in Waters cemetery, northwest of Jasper. Masonic rites will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at the funeral chapel, followed by visitation from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Joplin or the Masonic Home in care of the funeral home.
Gary S. Hurst
Gary S. Hurst, U.S.N. Ret., 65, of New Port Richey, Fla., died Saturday, June 19, 2010.
He is survived by his wife Marion; son, Chad; father, Stanley; stepchildren, Deborah, Kevin and Paula; brother, Warren Lee and a granddaughter.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 25, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dobies Funeral Home, Seven Springs Chapel., New Port Richey, Fla.
Garland Jack Gladden
Garland Jack Gladden, 80, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Carthage, Mo., died at 9:35 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, in Kindred Hospital, Fort Lauderdale.
Mr. Gladden was born Feb. 27, 1922, in Prosperity, Mo., to W.O. Gladden and Ethel Davis Gladden. He was a graduate of Carterville High School class of 1940. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, Carthage, and the Sojourners Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the Pacific. He was a storeroom clerk for the Atlas Powder Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1984. He married
Bettie Mae Barton on Feb. 14, 1947 in Webb City, Mo. She preceded him in death on Aug. 7, 1992.
Survivors include one daughter, Christy Selvidge and her husband, Gary, Fort Lauderdale; three sisters, Nona “Bebe” McKibben, Joplin, Berneice Willard, Joplin, and Glenna June Johnson, Marysville, Wash.; and one granddaughter, Robyn Selvidge, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers and two sisters.
A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, in the First Baptist Church, Carthage, Mo. Dr. Keith Miles will officiate. Burial will be in Park cemetery, Carthage. Memorial gifts may be made to the First Baptist Church, Carthage. Charlene Leah Fordham, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011
Charlene Leah Fordham, 81, of Chillicothe, Mo., formerly of Wichita, Kan., died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011 at Morningside Center in Chillicothe under the care of her family and Hedrick Hospice.
Charlene was born June 5, 1929 in El Dorado, Kan., the daughter of Charles Percy Parker and Leona Ethel Park Parker.
She was a graduate of Wichita East High School and Studied at Wichita State University.
Charlene was a licensed real estate broker and appraiser and was the owner of Fordham Real Estate & Appraisal Co. in Wichita, Kan. In her youth she was a reporter for the Wichita Beacon.
She is survived by a son, Craig Fordham and fiancé Norma Stratemeier, Hamilton, Mo.; a daughter, Denise Fordham and partner Gail Persily, San Francisco, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Jack Gregory Fordham.
A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2011 at White Chapel cemetery, Wichita, Kan.

Junior Lansaw
W.F. “Junior” Lansaw, age 71, Joplin, passed away at 10:51 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at a local hospital, after an illness.
Mr. Lansaw was born Oct. 24, 1931 in Greeley, Colo., and had lived in Joplin since 1939. He worked for Wayne Lansaw Produce as a salesman and was also an independent truck driver. He was active with the Assembly of God Church, where he served as a leader of the Royal Rangers and drove the church van. He was active with the Outreach Ministries, visiting local nursing homes.
He married
Jenell Bankson in 1949. She preceded him in death in 1980. Junior was also preceded in death by his father, W.F. Lansaw Sr.; a grandson, Brent M. Deslatte; three sisters, Shirley Irene Lansaw, Geneva Lansaw and Reva Grimmett; and a brother, Gene Lansaw.
Survivors include his mother, Lora Elizabeth Lansaw, Joplin; two daughters, Pamela Sue Deslatte, Joplin, and Victoria June Blood, Joplin; brothers, Wayne Lansaw, Wyandotte, Okla., Lee Warren Lansaw, Joplin, and Johnny Lansaw, Joplin; sisters, Lora Metcalf, Joplin, Joyce Robinson, Wyandotte, Okla., Janice Lansaw, Sanora, Calif., and Sherra Cognetti, Joplin; grandchildren, Ashlee Victoria Emory, Diamond, Jordan Elizabeth Blood, Joplin, Lynsey Hunter Blood, Joplin, and Aaron Marshall Deslatte, Jefferson City, Mo.; and two great-grandchildren, Ruth Alisha Emory and Andrea Rose Emory.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Hank Deslatte will officiate. Interment will follow at Fairview cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Parker Mortuary Chapel.
Edna May Duncan, 84, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011
Edna May Duncan, 84, a resident of Hale, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe, Mo.
Edna was born May 23, 1926 in Marceline, Mo., to Charles Wesley and Opal Racine (Brammer) Powell. On Dec. 12, 1948 she married
Thomas Newton Duncan in Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in death Dec. 19, 2000.
Edna was a member of the Merry Minglers and Leaton Homemakers Club.
She is survived by three sons, Tom Duncan, Marshall, Mo., George Duncan and wife Gayla, Meadville, Mo., and Ben Duncan, Marshall, Mo.; one brother, Wesley Powell and wife Sharlene, White Bear Lake, Minn.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom, and a brother, Irvin Powell and grandson Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Mo., on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011 at 1 p.m. Family visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Mo., on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. Friends may call Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Mo., on Friday from 12 to 9 p.m. Interment will be in Cameron cemetery, Hale, Mo.

Lewis Robinson
Lewis Dale Robinson, age 75, Joplin, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at his residence, after an illness.
Mr. Robinson was born Sept. 10, 1927 in Blue Mound, Kan. to the late Harry A. Robinson and Zula Ann Barger Robinson, and had lived in Joplin since 1985, moving from Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. He worked for the Fort Scott, Kan. Police Department for 18 years, the last six of which he served as chief of police. Following retirement, he worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 11 years. He was a member of the Kansas Peace Officers Association for over 40 years; Rising Sun Lodge, AF and AM; Fellowship Lodge No. 345 AM and AM; was a life member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Fort Scott; and was a life member of Olson-Frary-Burkhart VFW Lodge No. 1165, Fort Scott. He was a longtime member of Mirza Shrine Temple, Pittsburg, Kan., and was associated with the following clubs and organizations with the temple: Bourbon County Shrine; Crawford County Shrine; the Kickoff Club, East/West Shrine Kansas Shrine Bowl; Quetzlcoatl; Mirza Temple Legion of Honor; Director’s Staff; and Hospital Dads. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Fort Scott, and served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He married
Martha Jane Allison on March 29, 1956 in Fort Scott, Kan. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include his stepson, Daniel G. Lyman, Topeka, Kan.; four step-grandchildren, Craig Lyman, Aaron Lyman, Kevin Lyman and Clint Lyman, all of Topeka; two step-great-grandchildren, Trent and Nicholas Lyman; a daughter, Marsha Ann Carr, Des Moines, Iowa; two grandchildren, Ashley Carr and Richard Carr, both of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Yvonne Cellner and her husband, Charles, Joplin; nephews, Craig Cellner, Kansas City, Mo., and John Cellner, Joplin; and nieces, Janice Tremayne and husband, Neil, and Sherry Maynard, all of Kansas City, Mo.
Mr. Robinson has been taken for cremation.
Memorial graveside services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Scott, Kan. National cemetery. The Rising Sun Lodge AF and AM will officiate. Military honors will follow, conducted by the Olson-Frary-Burkhart VFW Lodge No. 1165. The family will receive friends at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Scottish Rite Almoners, P.O. Box 789, Fort Scott, Kan. 66701; Mirza Shrine Transportation; or to St. John’s Hospice, in car of Parker Mortuary.
Mr. Robinson was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He touched the lives of everyone he met, especially the young people.

James Edward Brown, 84, of Kansas City, Mo., with family by his side, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010.
Jim was born Jan. 24, 1926 in Nashua, Iowa, to Ray and Edna Brown.
Jim married
Virginia Lee Anderson of Lock Springs, Mo., on Dec. 13, 1958.
He was raised in Knoxville, Iowa, where he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. Jim moved to Kansas City in 1948. He drove a Yellow Cab part-time for the next 25 years. In 1951 Jim went to work for the city of Kansas City in the transportation department as a traffic accident analyst and traffic engineering aide where he worked for the next 51 and a half years.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Ray Brown and wife Tanya; daughter, Carol Gonzales and husband Terry; three grandsons, Jared and Trevor Brown and Anthony Kinnard; sister, Betty and brothers, Dick and Jack.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his brother Bill and sister Mary.
Funeral services will be held at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 West Linwood Boulevard, Kansas City, Mo., on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held at McGilley Midtown Chapel on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at Clear Creek cemetery in Lock Springs, Mo., on Monday at 1:30 p.m.

Vera C. Plummer
Vera C. Plummer, 72, of Anderson, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at 5:25 p.m., at Seneca House, after a long illness.
Vera Plummer was born on Feb. 5, 1930, in Neosho, Mo., to the late Claude Justice and Lilly Ellen (Davenport) Soard. She was a beautician and owner of Vera’s Beauty Shop in Neosho in the late 1960’s. She then worked at Buddy L. in Neosho until retirement. Since that time, she has been a homemaker.
She married
Joe Plummer on Jan. 5, 1987, in Anderson, Mo., after having met him while taking square dance lessons. Joe and Vera continued their love of square dancing throughout their time together. Vera was a member of the Lost Creek Promenaders Square Dance Club. She was also an avid fisher woman and enjoyed sharing her catch by having her annual Plummer Fish Fry for family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Joe, of the home in Anderson, Mo.; one daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and John “J.D.” Lafley of Noel, Mo.; one son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Donna Linton of Nampa, Idaho; daughter, Beth Menefee, Joplin; granddaughter, Savanna Menefee of the home; two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Gayola and Gary Dodson, Joplin, and Carolyn and Frank Williams, Goodman, Mo.; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Ron and Janie Plummer, Branson, Mo.; 13 other grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Vera Plummer will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at 2 p.m., at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. Burial will be in the New Bethel cemetery in Anderson, Mo.
Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 8 p.m.
Doris M. Shull, 93, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010
Doris M. Shull, 93, a resident of Braymer, Mo., died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 in Liberty, Mo.
Mrs. Shull was born Oct. 4, 1917, the daughter of Joy and Bessie (Owens) Miller at their farm home south of Tina, Mo., and grew up in Hill Township west of Coloma.
She attended college at CMSU in Warrensburg, Mo., and taught in rural schools in Carroll and Livingston counties for ten years. She was a former member of the First Christian Church and the Christian Women’s Fellowship at Brookfield, Mo., the Linn County Christian Women’s Fellowship and the Review Club in Brookfield, Mo. She lived most of her life in and around Hale, Mo., and was a current member of the First Baptist Church in Braymer, Mo. She was an active and avid member of the PEO Sisterhood and the Sunshine Neighbors Club of Hale, Mo. She was a life member of the Carroll County Historical Society of which she was a past president, she was honored with a Life Membership by the Hale Parent-Teachers Association and was a member and past president of the Carroll County PTA during which time she organized a PTA at Wakenda, Mo., and was an installing officer of Carrollton, Bogard, Tina-Avalon, Hale and Wakenda PTA’s.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Dee Shull, Hale, Mo., and Bessie E. Lightfoot, Braymer, Mo.; two grandchildren, Betty Lynn Englert and Jerry, Hale, Mo., and Trenneth (Trenni) Lightfoot and Wendy, Bogard, Mo.; four great grandchildren, Brian Englert and Melissa, Scott Englert and Kelley, all of Chillicothe, Mo., Marcy Judy and Nathan, Hale, Mo., and Cody Lightfoot, Bogard, Mo.; six great-great grandchildren, Andrew Englert, Myra Englert, Isabella Englert, Addison Englert, Cole Michele Judy and Ely Scott Judy; and Florence of Johnson, Vermont and their siblings, Joseph Owens of Chesapeake, Va., Marsha Curtis, Johnson, Vt., and Ralph Owens, Ala., and their spouses and families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother William Elmo Miller; three husbands, Ottis Colliver, Carl C. “Mandy” Wilson, and Bill Shull; and two sons-in-law, Buddy Shull and Roy E. Lightfoot and foster brother, Homer Lee Owens.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Mo., on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at 10 a.m. Burial will be held in the Coloma cemetery, Tina, Mo.
