Harold Gromer
DEXTER -- Harold E. Gromer, 77, of Bernie, formerly of Essex, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Gromer was born April 6, 1927, at Morley. He was a member of the Word of Faith Christian Center in Bernie.
On Dec. 21, 1946, he married
Imogene Williams at Bloomfield. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Janie L. Gromer, Connie D. Gromer and Charlotte Yates, all of Bernie; one son, Roger Gromer of Dexter; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Gromer and Virgie Allen, both of Dexter, Dorothy Edwards of Essex and Ann Pruett of Bloomfield; and three brothers, Cecil Gromer of Columbia, Charles Gromer of Dexter and Allen Gromer of St. Clair.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Dale Hartle of Bernie officiating. Burial will be at the Chalk Bluff cemetery in Dexter.
Bertha Walz
Bertha Walz, 94, of Poplar Bluff, died Jan. 3, 2005 at her daughter's residence in Beaufort.
Mrs. Walz was born on July 29, 1910 in Dixon, Ill. She along with her husband, owned and operated a dairy farm and in the early years, they made home deliveries of bottled milk.
Mrs. Walz was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a member of the St. Ann Altar Society. She was also a member of the Farm Bureau and in 1967, she was named woman of the year in recognition of outstanding accomplishment in Farm Bureau. Mrs. Walz was a 4-H leader for 50 years.
On Sept. 7, 1931 she married
to Raymond M. Walz in Chillicothe. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 1958.
Survivors include six children, Juanita Miner of Beaufort, George Walz and Jane Arnold, both of Poplar Bluff, Father Richard Walz O.S.B. of Subiaco, Ark., Frieda Fris of Mill Spring, Mary Howell of Binger, Okla.; 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
A Rosary Service will begin at 6 p.m. today at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with visitation following the Rosary service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Michael McDevitt officiating and concelebrating with Father Richard Walz. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic School.
Calvin West
CORNING, Ark. -- Calvin Isaiah West, 25, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004 at Colcord, Okla.
Mr. West was born on Jan. 4, 1979 in West Plains. He worked as an electrician and on a riverboat.
Survivors include four children, Katie West, Levi West, Hallie West and Corey West, all of Reyno, Ark.; two sisters, Kimberly Lane of Knobel, Ark., and Patricia Statford of Hardy, Ark.; his mother and stepfather, Carol and Wayne Nickason of Corning, Ark.; his father, Burt Hebrock of Scott City; and his grandfather, Jack Drowns of Corning, Ark.
The visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning, Ark. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kelsey Vallance officiating. Burial will be at Hosea cemetery in Knobel, Ark.
Mayola Gibson
DEXTER -- Mayola Gibson, 76, of Desoto, Texas, former resident of Dexter, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004 at the Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas.
Mrs. Gibson was born on Feb. 25, 1928 in Bernie. She lived in Dexter before moving to St. Louis in 1969 and then to Desoto, Texas until her passing. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Mesquite, Texas before she became ill.
On Oct. 22, 1944, she married
Charles Gibson in St. Louis. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Michael Gibson of Knoxville, Tenn., and Mark Gibson of St. Louis; one daughter, Pamela Gibson of Mesquite, Texas; three sisters, Velva Robisky of Dallas, Evelyn Robinson of Jackson, and Martha Duffie-Reynolds of Bernie; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Brother Ron Dunavin officiating. Burial will follow at Bernie cemetery.

ELLINGTON -- Jay Black of St. Elmo, Ill., died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2004, at his residence.

ELLINGTON -- Hazel M. Goldsborough, 76, of Ellington died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004, at the Brett B. Tinnin Manor in Ellington.

Zelma Hibner
VAN BUREN -- Zelma Hibner, 85, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Hibner was born Jan. 28, 1919, at Ellsinore. She was of the Protestant faith. Before retiring in 1989, Mrs. Hibner was a custodian for the Ozark National Scenic Riverways building. She loved her work and referred to the other park service employees as her children.
On Jan. 4, 1941, she married
Lyman Hibner at Fremont. He preceded her in death Jan. 8, 1986.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Ruth Klepzig of Neelyville and Juanita Pettit of House Springs.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at McSpadden Funeral Home of Van Buren. The funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Bruce Hawkins officiating. Burial will be at the City cemetery of Willow Springs.

Joann Reed Whoberry, 49, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at her residence.
