Patricia Ann Medlin
DEXTER -- Patricia Ann Medlin, 32, of Dexter died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at her residence.
Mrs. Medlin was born Aug. 23, 1972, at Danville, Ill. She formerly lived in Friendship, Tenn. She was of the Baptist faith.
She married
Donald Medlin Feb. 10, 1995 in New Madrid County. He survives.
Survivors include a daughter, Paige Mystique Medlin of Friendship, Tenn.; a brother, Stephen Meers of Dexter; a sister, Elizabeth Cheeseman of Indianapolis, Ind.; and her mother Mary Lewis Beatty of Indianapolis, Ind.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. The memorial service will be at noon with burial in the Dexter cemetery. The Rev. Gene Lancaster will officiate.
Mary Dilks
Mary L. Dilks, 64, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at her residence after an illness of several months.
Mrs. Dilks was born June 5, 1940, at Chicago and graduated from Barrington High School in Barrington, Ill. She received her Associate of Arts degree from Elgin Community College, her Bachelor of Arts degree from Northern Illinois University and her Law Degree from St. Louis University. An attorney for the Missouri Public Defender's Office, she was a member of the Missouri Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She was a member of the St. Andrew's Lutheran Church and the Altrusa Club.
On Nov. 24, 1962, she married
John P. Dilks at Barrington, Ill. He survives.
Other survivors include one sister, Judy Fisher of Gainsville, Fla.; two brothers, Ed Fisher and wife, Judy, of Waynesville and Mark Fisher and wife, Elsie, of Duson, La.; one brother-in-law, Tim Hinckley; one nephew, Robert Dilks of Palatine, Ill.; two nieces, Debbie Dilks of Bradley, Ill., and Emily Hinckley of Tacoma, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosemarie (Tomasick) and Edmond Fisher Jr.; one sister, Kim Hinckley; one brother, Greg Fisher; and her grandparents, Julia and Edward Tomasick and Mary and Edmond Fisher.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Poplar Bluff with the Rev. Dan Snider, Pastor William Ferretti and Judge John Bloodworth officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Boy's and Girl's Club of Poplar Bluff, the Haven House, the United Gospel Rescue Mission or the Ripley-Butler County Juvenile office for educational materials.
Cotrell Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
Virginia Songer
PUXICO -- Virginia (Townsend) Songer, 89, of Chaffee died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was a former Puxico resident.
Mrs. Songer was born Oct. 10, 1915, at Jonesboro, Ark. A homemaker, she was of the Baptist Faith.
She was married
to Gilbert Townsend. He preceded her in death in 1974. Later, she married
Mitt Songer. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Survivors include one son, David Townsend of Chaffee; one sister, Maxine Cheeks of Jonesboro, Ark.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Morgan Sifford Funeral Home in Puxico. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ray Placher officiating. Burial will be at the Fagan cemetery in Puxico.
Jean Yeager
DEXTER -- Jean Yeager, 79, of Dexter died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, in the Crowley Ridge Care Center at Dexter.
Mrs. Yeager was born Jan. 15, 1925, at Bernie. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter where she served as a nursery worker for 34 years. She was employed 30 years at Paramount Headwear in Dexter before she retired.
She married
Eugene C. Yeager Jan. 11, 1947, at Caruthersville. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1987.
Survivors include one son, Steve Yeager of Dexter; one daughter, Debbie Yeager of St. Louis; one sister, Thelma Plympton of Waterford, Mich., and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday with the funeral beginning at 11 a.m. at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Vaughn Wright will officiate. Burial will be in the Dexter cemetery.
Bruce R. Simmons
GREENVILLE - Bruce R. Simmons, 74, of Greenville died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.
Mr. Simmons was born Dec. 11, 1929, at Pontiac, Miss. He retired from General Motors Corp. and had lived near Greenville for 21 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army from 1951-1953. He was a lifetime member of the U.A.W. and had held many offices in the Wayne County Eagles, most recently as treasurer. He was also a member of the AMVETS.
He was married
April 18, 1953, to Dorothy Ricketts at Corinth, Miss., and she survives.
Also surviving are three children, Diane Akers of Fairhope, Ala., James Simmons of Seattle, Wash. and Ralph Simmons of Imperial; three brothers, Bruce D. Simmons and Roy Simmons, both of Clarksville, Tenn., and Bobby Joe Lasseter of Kissamee, Fla.; three sisters, LaVeda Rogers of Visale, Calif., Cathryn Reeves of Kennett and Malinda Smith of Caraway, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Morrison-Worley Chapel in Greenville. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel with Bro. Dan Ross officiating. Burial will be in the Greenville cemetery.
Harold Hood
BLOOMFIELD -- Harold Hood, 69, of Bloomfield died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Mr. Hood was born Aug. 8, 1935, at Sturdivant. He attended First General Baptist Church.
On May 30, 1964, he married
Sharon Clayton. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Angie Parks of Bloomfield and Elizabeth Wright of Jackson; one son, Ralph Hood of Bloomfield; one brother, Raymond Clois Hood of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Kevin Eskew officiating. Burial will be in the Bloomfield cemetery.
Lovedia Eastwood
QULIN -- Lovedia J. Eastwood, 84, of Qulin died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. She had been a resident of Qulin most of her life.
Mrs. Eastwood was born June 12, 1920, at Portageville. A homemaker, she was of the Pentecostal faith.
On June 21, 1962, she married
Melvin Eugene Eastwood. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1995.
Survivors include one daughter, Doris Jean Melton of Broseley; one brother, Jasper Ramsey of Portageville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at noon Saturday with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin. Burial will be at the Brown Chapel cemetery.
Clarence Britt
PIEDMONT -- Clarence Britt, 60, of Long Beach, Calif., died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at his residence.
Arrangements are pending with Ruegg Funeral Home in Piedmont.
Memorials may be made to the family or to the charity of one's choice.
Mary McCord
CORNING, Ark. -- Mary Ellen McCord, 88, of Equality, Ill., formerly of Corning, Ark., died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, in Equality, Ill.
Mrs. McCord was born Feb. 15, 1916. A homemaker, she was a member of the Church of Christ.
On June 25, 1935, she married
J.C. Clifton McCord. He survives.
Other survivors include two brothers, Robert Barnhill of Lonoke, Ark., and Dr. Bruce Barnhill of Tallahassee, Fla.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon Friday at Ermert Funeral Home until a graveside service at 1 p.m. in the Corning cemetery. Burial will follow.
Johnnie Boykin
DONIPHAN -- Johnnie Lee Boykin, 48, of Billings died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at Maryville.
Mr. Boykin was born Aug. 12, 1956, at Colorado Springs, Colo. He was a cook.
He was formerly married
to Rainey Boykin.
Survivors include one daughter, Johnell Boykin of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one son, Jeremiah Boykin of Denver; two sisters, Patricia Robinson of Loveland, Colo., and Judy Pelc of Applevalley, Calif.; one brother, Richard Boykin of Madria, Calif.; and his parents, Emery and Donna Boykin.
Visitation will begin at noon Saturday at Edwards Funeral Home. A graveside service with burial will follow at 1 p.m. in the Goodhope cemetery with Brother Ronny Quinton officiating.
