Nell Bolin
BLOOMFIELD -- Nell L. Bolin, 95, of Bloomfield died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004 at her home.
Mrs. Bolin was born on June 13, 1909 in Oak Ridge. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield. She worked at Sugar Creek Creamery in St. Louis. She also worked for several years at Elder Manufacturing Company in Bloomfield.
On Aug. 26, 1926, she married
Wesley Bolin. He survives.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. The funeral will follow, beginning at noon, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ron Dunavin officiating. Burial will be at West Pleasant Valley cemetery.
Rava L. Riddle
DEXTER -- Rava Lucille Riddle, 80, of Bernie died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Riddle was born on Aug. 31, 1923 in Himmel. A lifelong resident of Southeast Missouri, she had lived in Bernie since 1946. She attended the Bethany General Baptist Church near Campbell.
On Sept. 13, 1941, she was married
to Alvis Russell Riddle near Dexter. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1978.
Survivors include four sons, Dennis Riddle of Bernie, R. J. and Terry Riddle, both of Bloomfield, and Daryl Riddle of Jackson; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Noble Bollinger of Swinton, Talmage Bollinger of Cape Girardeau; and one sister, Norma Jean Hahn of Cape Girardeau. Other relatives and friends also survive.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bryan Johnson of Campbell and Rev. Dale Hartle of Bernie officiating. Burial will be at Smith-Stevenson cemetery near Dexter.
Willene Helms
WAPPAPELLO - Willene Helms, 80, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Helms was born Feb. 27, 1924 in Pocahontas, Ark. She was of the Pentecostal faith, and a retired restaurant manager. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
In 1945, she married
Arvel Helms. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1978.
Survivors include four daughters, Betty Stanichuk of Detroit, Mary Ann Graham of Pontiac, Mich., Shirley Helms of Arnold, and Debbie Helms of Poplar Bluff; four sons, John Childers of Wappapello, Donald Helms of Crystal City, and Alan and Kenneth Helms, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; 21 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Wappapello. The funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel in Wappapello. Burial will be in Little Brushy cemetery at Wappapello.
Lowell Stephens
ADVANCE -- Lowell B. Stephens, 81, of Advance died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Stephens was born on Nov. 19, 1922 at McGee. He was a retired rural mail carrier in Advance for 33 years. He was a United States Army Air Force veteran, having served in World War II. He was also a member of the Advance Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a son, Doug Stephens of Marble Hill; a daughter, Jeanne Pettit of Perkins; a brother, Claude Stephens of Advance; two sisters, Trella Shirrell of Advance and Opha Young of St. Louis; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. The memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Brad Moore officiating. Burial service with full Military Rites will be at McGee New Hope cemetery in McGee.
Barbara Doublin
PUXICO -- Barbara Doublin, 79, of Puxico died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Mrs. Doublin was born on Oct. 2, 1924 in Bell City. A housewife, she lived in Puxico for the past 54 years and attended the Life Chapel Assembly of God.
On May 23, 1946, she married
Slick Doublin. He preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1973.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Frank Doublin; three daughters, Bonnie, Margaret (Sue), and Shirley Sue Doublin; six brothers, Willie, Wattis, Leon, David, Glen, and Carl Overbey; and three sisters, Floy, Ima Jene, and Dorothy Overbey.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis and wife Janet Doublin of Puxico, and Larry and wife Laurie Doublin of Jackson; a daughter, Brenda Phillips and husband Lester of Puxico; four brothers, Willie, Bennie, and Brownie Overbey, all of Illinois, and Jerry Dean of Wappapello; eight grandchildren, Tim and Charlie Doublin, Steve, Scott and Justin Phillips, Christy Lindsey, Jeff and Tyler Doublin; and 10 great-grandchildren, Ashley and Dustin Doublin, Matt and Danielle Phillips, Ashley, Jeremy and Hanna Phillips, Ty, Jared and Hayden Lindsey.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at Morgan Sifford Funeral Home in Puxico. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Life Chapel Assemply of God with Ray Placher officiating. Burial will be at Puxico cemetery.
Mary Summers
MALDEN -- Mary "Aileen" Summers, 84, of Malden died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at the Kennett Dialysis Center in Kennett.
Mrs. Summers was born July 19, 1920, at Campbell. A homemaker, she was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Malden. She taught Sunday school and worked in the Youth Camp. Mrs. Summers volunteered at the Campbell General Baptist Nursing Home and for other mission society work at the church.
On July 5, 1939, she married
A.O. "Shorty" Summers at Campbell. He preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1978.
Survivors include two sons, D.W. Summers of Malden and Garlan Summers of Kingman, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Landess Funeral Home in Malden. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with The Rev. David Wigger officiating. Burial will be at the Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.
Alva Widger
ELLINGTON--Alva Thurman Widger, 79, of Pevely died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, in his residence.
Mr. Widger was born Jan. 7, 1925, in Centerville. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1968 when he retired. Then he worked 16 years at McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis.
He married
Annice White on July 29, 1967, in Elizabeth City, N.C., and she survives.
His hobbies are woodworking, gardening and fishing.
Other survivors include: one son, Joseph E. Widger of Jackson, Tenn.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Ray Widger of Bunker; and three sisters, Deloris Shady of St. Louis, Doris Beck of Ellington and Barbara Crisco of Bunker.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today in McSpadden Funeral Home at Ellington. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral chapel with the Revs. Ted Wisdom and Carlton Mathes officiating. Burial will be in Bunker City cemetery at Bunker.
Memorials may be directed to Shriners Children's Hospital.
Cleon Worley
FISK -- Cleon Worley, 57, of Broseley died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004.
Mr. Worley was born May 28, 1947, at Poplar Bluff. A lifetime resident of the Broseley and Qulin area, he operated the Cedar Valley Boarding Home.
On July 8, 1967, he married
Sue Hesselrode. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Clete Worley and wife, Jill, and Jeff Worley, all of Broseley; one sister, Marilyn Presson and husband, Larry, of Millington, Tenn.; one sister-in-law, Vicki Jenkins and husband, Don, of Poplar Bluff; his mother, Mildred Worley Alford of Qulin; three grandchildren, Jase, Jentri and Cylas; and two godchildren, Colt and Lyndse.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Worley.
A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shain Memorial cemetery with the Rev. Larry Ward officiating.

Wanda Bacon
Wanda Powell Bacon, 86, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Indiana, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Bacon was born Sept. 17, 1918, at Poplar Bluff. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Poplar Bluff and enjoyed painting and art. A former catering business owner and operator, she retired after 21 years from the LTV Steel Mill in Whiting, Ind., where she resided for 55 years. Mrs. Powell's father, Hubert Powell, was a deputy sheriff under a pioneer sheriff, Lennis Hogg. Her grandmother, Henrietta Brown, was the mother of a son that was killed in WWI. The Brown-Mabrey American Legion Post was named for this son.
In 1939, she married
William W. Bacon at Crown Point, Ind. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1987.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Helen Powell of Alhambra, Calif.; one niece, Peggy Powell of California; one nephew, Steve Powell of Alhambra, Calif.; and cousins, Barbara, Ted and Jerry Armstrong, Ken and Dale Pendleton and James Goforth, all of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Ethel Smith Powell; two sisters, Mildred Powell Reed and Inez Powell Messing; and one brother, Delmar D. Powell.
Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. today at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
