Freida West
ALTON, Ill. -- Freida F. West, 64, of East Alton, Ill. died Friday, June 18, 2004, at Christian North East Hospital in St. Louis.
Mrs. West was born June 24, 1939, at Parma. She was employed as a supervisor with Star Bedding in St. Louis for 34 years and as a stand manager at Busch Stadium for 30 years. She will be remembered for her love of her family and traveling. She enjoyed reading and spending time at doughnut shops with her granddaughter.
Survivors include one daughter, Ginger Mowder of East Alton; one son, Charles Mowder of East Alton; one sister, Eldora Clifton of Doniphan; one granddaughter, Demora Mowder of East Alton and other family members.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elias-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory in Alton, Ill. Visitation will continue from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at Bethany cemetery in Campbell with a graveside service at 1 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Brenda Bruce
NEELYVILLE -- Brenda Bruce, 58, of Oxly died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Mrs. Bruce was born Dec. 26, 1945, in Torch and was a lifetime resident of the Naylor area. She was employed at Gates Rubber in Poplar Bluff. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading, animals and the outdoors. She was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Oxly.
On June 7, 1964, she married
Kenneth Bruce at Oxly. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Lisa Bruce of Poplar Bluff and Shelly Bruce of Oxly; two sisters, Donna Hogan of Poplar Bluff and Gloria Pritchard of Doniphan; one brother, Jack Kinnard of Rockford, Ill.; several nephews, nieces, other family members and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Delmer Kinnard; her mother, Mary Pippin Alderson; stepfather, Gene Alderson; and one brother, J.B. Pippin.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral chapel with Donnie Fowler officiating. Burial will be in the Naylor Masonic cemetery.

Rex Davis
DEXTER -- Rex B. Davis, 85, of Gideon died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at the Gideon Care Center in Gideon.
Mr. Davis was born Oct. 26, 1918, at Parma. He had lived in Michigan for 45 years, where he owned and operated three service stations. He spent seven years in Florida and had lived the past five years in Gideon. He was a retired mechanic with the Phillips Petroleum Company. He was a former member of the Sadlers Chapel United Methodist Church in Dexter and had been attending the First Baptist Church in Gideon.
He was married
to Mildred Crook. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include four daughters, Alma May Lewis of La Vergne, Tenn.; Rita Beschorner of White House, Tenn., Elizabeth Ann Kalis of Dryden, Mich. and Linda Lee Simpson of Waterford, Mich.; one son, Butch Davis of Moriarty, N. M.; one sister, Betty Bowman of St. Louis; one brother, O. B. Davis Jr. of Enid, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchild and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Lloyd Anderson of Dexter officiating. Burial will be in the Sadlers Chapel cemetery near Dexter.

Leo Lucas Sr.
DEXTER -- Leo Joseph Lucas Sr., 88, of Bloomfield died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation in Bloomfield.
Mr. Lucas was born July 10, 1915, at Wild Rose, Wis. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter.
On Aug. 20, 1938, he married
Rose Ann Kuhns at Chicago. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Bernadette Fuwell of Bloomfield and Bernadine Willard of Chicago; one son, Leo Joseph Lucas Jr. of Chicago; two sisters; one brother, Georgie Lucas of Chicago; 11 grandchildren; 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the funeral chapel. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter with Father David Dohoghn officiating. Burial will be in the Essex cemetery.
Marvin Hill
DEXTER -- Marvin "Bob" Hill, 65, of Clarkton died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Clarkton.
Mr. Hill was born March 12, 1939, at Parma. He had lived most of his life in the Malden area. He was a retired farm laborer and was a member of the New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church near Essex.
Survivors include four daughters, Sharon King of Belleville, Ill., Kim Hill and Evette Hill, both of California and Debra Mathis of Malden; four sons, Melvin Hill of East St. Louis, Ill., Darrell Hill and Tony Hill, both of Belleville, Ill. and Marvin Hill Jr. of San Bernardino, Calif.; his mother, Harriett Hill of Essex; five sisters, Betty Gay and Willie Lee Bailey, both of Malden, Mabel Jacob and Annie Thompson, both of Essex and Mildred Hill of Flint, Mich.; six brothers, Chester Earl Hill of Essex, Donnie Wayne Hill of St. Louis, Ben Hill of Chicago, John Lee Hill of Sikeston, Charles Edward Hill of New Madrid and Ernest Hill of Marion, Ind.; 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The funeral service will be at noon in the funeral chapel with the Rev. James Turk of Sikeston officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia cemetery in Malden.
Marie Lamb
CORNING -- Marie Lamb, 81, of Arnold, formerly of Corning, Ark., died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at her residence.
Mrs. Lamb was born Oct. 31, 1922, at Neodesha, Kan. and was retired from Wal-Mart.
She was married
to Willard Lamb. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Foresyth of Arnold and Sue Ketner of White Wright of Texas; one sister, Erma Cupit of Garland, Texas; one brother, Lewis Jones of Garland, Texas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning, Ark. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Carl Thomason officiating. Burial will be in the Corning cemetery.
Jimmie Pullam
DEXTER -- Jimmie Pullam, 69, Oak Forest, Ill., formerly of Dexter, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at Palos Hospital in Palos, Ill.
Mr. Pullam was born May 27, 1935, near Dexter. He had lived in Michigan, Illinois, Colorado and Ohio before moving to Dexter four years ago, he had moved to Oak Forest one month ago. He was a retired trucker and trucking company manager. He had attended the Assembly of God Church in Dexter.
On May 24, 1952, he married
Dorothy Ragsdel in Pocahontas, Ark. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Sharon Lee Ramirez of Beacon Park, Mich. and Karen Joyce Howlett of Aurora, Colo.; one son, Stanley Ray Pullam of Oak Forest; one sister, Joyce Whiteside of Melvindale, Mich.; two brothers, Paul Pullam of Hopkinsville, Ky. and Dallas Pullam of Aurora, Colo.; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Michael Kohlbaker of Dexter officiating. Burial will be in the Hagy cemetery in Dexter.
Ray Kindrick
ELLSINORE -- Ray Wilburn Kindrick, 83, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, June 11, 2004, at Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Kindrick was born March 3, 1921, in Ellsinore. He had resided in the Walton Chapel Community near Ellsinore most of his life, before moving to Poplar Bluff in 1977. He was a United States Army veteran having served in W.W.II, a retired farmer and construction worker and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was a member of the Calvary General Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and raising cattle.
On June 7, 1947, he married
Lilley Mae Kearbey in St. Louis. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Pearl Sheets of Poplar Bluff; one son, Wayne Kindrick of Walton Chapel; one sister, Opal Kretschmar of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two brothers, Alfred Kindrick of Portland, Ore. and Leroy Kindrick of Ellsinore; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and many other relatives.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellsinore. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Bill Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Walton Chapel cemetery.
Edward Brown
Edward Brown, 91, of Broseley died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Brown was born Oct. 25, 1912, in Mound Bayou, Miss. He was a member of the New Home Missionary Baptist Church and retired from Union Pacific Railroad. He was also a member of the National Association of Retired Veteran Railroad Employees, and a past member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed gardening, especially raising watermelons, and hunting and fishing.
On Jan. 9, 1934, he married
Lillie B. Fields in Harviell. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Darlene Brown, Pauline Taylor and Diane Marie Williams, all of Poplar Bluff; four sons, Willie Brown and Jeweral Brown, both of Broseley, Willard Brown of Atlanta, Ga. and Edward Brown Jr. of St. Louis; two sisters, Ollie Stevens of Vancouver, Wash. and Theresa Taylor of Los Angeles; more than 40 grandchildren and great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at noon Monday at New Home Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Ivory Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Morocco cemetery.
