Eva Matchett
QULIN -- Eva Lee Matchett, 77, of Broseley died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Matchett was born Jan. 8, 1927, in St. Francis, Ark. She had resided in Butler County most of her life and was a resident of Westwood Hills Health Care for the past few years. She was a former member of the Fagus General Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to the Brown Chapel General Baptist Church, where she was the pianist. She was a graduate of Arkansas State University and had been an elementary school teacher for 36 years. Mrs. Matchett started teaching at the Caldonia School near Broseley and later taught at Elk and Fagus. She then taught at Qulin until her retirement from the Twin Rivers school district in 1981.
On Nov. 30, 1945, she married
Hubert Matchett Sr. He survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Eva Barnett and husband Dennis of Broseley; one son, Hubert Matchett Jr. and wife Lesa of Harviell; three sisters, Edith Moffitt, Lois Bond and Jeanette Bradley; one brother, Bob King; three grandchildren, Melissa Dowd of Poplar Bluff, Kelly Null of Qulin and Barry Barnett of Broseley; and three great-grandchildren, Drew and Mackenzie Dowd and Karson Null.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jonah and Cora King; two sisters, Lavora Comer and Irene Pattillo; and two brothers, Billy King and Marvin King.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Gary Hancock officiating. Burial will be in the Brown Chapel cemetery.
Lorene Greer
FREDERICKTOWN -- Lorene Esther Greer, 87, of Coldwater died Tuesday Jan. 6, 2004, at the Festus Manor Nursing Home in Festus.
Mrs. Greer was born Oct. 8, 1916, in Greens Chapel and was a member of the Coldwater United Methodist Church. She loved cooking, sewing and quilting and had baby-sat for many years.
On Nov. 11, 1938, she married
Allen Emery Greer. He preceded her in death March 23, 1980.
Survivors include two daughters, Dona Young and Joan Elaine Halbrook, both of St. Louis; one son, Dayne Earl Greer of Coldwater; one brother, Earl Spain of Coldwater; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown and from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the Coldwater United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Willis Guess officiating. Burial will be in the Coldwater United Methodist cemetery.
Ginny Grandberry
NEELYVILLE -- Ginny Y. Grandberry, 37, of Neelyville died Thursday, June 19, 2004, at her residence.
Mrs. Grandberry was born Aug. 19, 1966, at Poplar Bluff and was a lifetime resident of Neelyville. She was employed with the Tyson Chicken Company and enjoyed hunting and fishing. She enjoyed playing basketball and had played for Neelyville and the Three Rivers Community College Lady Raiders. She was a member of the New Light Missionary Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff where she served as an usher.
On March 2, 2002, she married
David Grandberry at Neelyville. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Cody Harris and David Grandberry Jr., both of Neelyville; two sisters, Mary Robinson and Linda Harris, both of Neelyville; four brothers, her twin brother, Jerry Harris of Texas, George Harris of Kansas City, Raymond Harris of Arizona and James Harris.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Johnny Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Neelyville cemetery.
Marjorie Kirk
Marjorie V. Kirk, 68, of Wappapello died Sunday June 20, 2004, at the Puxico Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Puxico.
Mrs. Kirk was born July 19, 1935, in Liberty, Neb. She was a sales clerk for J. D.'s Quick Stop in Poplar Bluff and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed playing bingo and bowling and served on the Board of Directors for the Poplar Bluff Women's Bowling Association. She was also voted Member of the Year for the Bowling Association.
On Nov. 6, 1954, she married
Bill Kirk in Blue Springs, Neb. He survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Dollie Markham and husband, Grayson, and Brenda Dortch and husband, Eddie, all of Poplar Bluff and Sue Kirk and husband, Bruce Hindman, of Wappapello; one son, Randy Kirk and wife, Sherry, of Mackinaw Valley, Wash.; two sisters, Lois Whitehead and Maxine Hackbarth of Beatrice, Neb.; five grandchildren, Scott Markham and wife, Leslie, Carl Markham and wife, Amber, Lacey McClintock and husband, Jeremy, Jessica Markham and Eddie Joe Dortch and four great-grandchildren, Thomas Markham, Trevor McClintock, Brooklyn Kirkley and Alyssa Kirkley.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Susie Hampton officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
Helen Fisher
PIEDMONT -- Helen L. Fisher, 90, of Piedmont died Saturday June 19, 2004, at ClaRu DeVille Nursing Center in Fredericktown.
Mrs. Fisher was born June 19, 1914, in Redford. She attended Beulah Baptist Church then became a member of the First Baptist Church in Fredericktown and was a homemaker.
On March 27, 1939, she married
Dee Fisher. He preceded her in death in 1974.
Survivors include one daughter, Adell Clements of Piedmont; one son, Jay Fisher; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Ruegg Funeral Home in Piedmont. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Beulah cemetery in Brunot.
William Lawson
DEXTER -- William H. Lawson of Dexter died Saturday June 19, 2004, at the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation in Dexter.
Mr. Lawson was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Dexter and a member and past president of the Dexter Kiwanis Club. He was a 40 year member and past president of the Gideon's International Dexter Camp and the a former office manager of Poplar Bluff Building and Loan at the Dexter branch office before retiring.
On Sept. 4, 1943, he married
Mary Matacaroff at Granite City, Ill. She survives.
Other survivors include one brother, Curtis Lawson of Paducah, Ky.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mike Kohlbaker officiating. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Sunset Hills cemetery in Edwardsville, Ill.
Larry Struyk
VAN BUREN -- Larry L. Struyk, 63, of Garwood died Saturday June 19, 2004, in Ellington.
Mr. Sturyk was born June 6, 1941, in Sacramento, Calif. He had made Garwood his home since moving here in 1993 and had formerly lived in Texas and Minnesota. He was a truck driver with the J. B. Hunt Trucking Company and was of the Lutheran faith. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in the Vietnam War and was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed baseball, football and boating.
On Dec. 10, 1988, he married
Patricia D. O'Dell in Smith County, Texas. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Larry L. Sturyk II and Tyler Delane Struyk, both of Garwood; one stepdaughter, Aleesha Gloyd of Grandin; one sister, Sandra Gober of Arlington, Texas; one brother, Dennis Struyk of North Carolina; one grandson and many other relatives.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Crowley officiating. Burial will be in the Gresham cemetery.
Chuck Malone
CORNING -- Chuck Malone, 68, of Corning, Ark. died Saturday June 19, 2004, at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center in Dyersburg, Tenn.
Mr. Malone was born May 29, 1936, in Canton, Ohio and was retired from the United States Air Force. He served as a deputy sheriff of Clay County, Ark. for 10 years before retiring. He was a former employee of the Randolph County Sheriff's Department and a former mayor of Maynard, Ark. He enjoyed fishing, camping, yard work and working with dogs.
On July 6, 1998, he married
Patty Lynn Pulliam. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Anthea Davis of Pocahontas, Ark. and Trina Mayes of Canton, Ohio; one son, Mike Malone of Maynard, Ark.; one stepdaughter, Brenda Malloy of Houston, Texas; one stepson, Paul D. Leonard of Corning; one sister, Carol Petettie of Canton; one brother, Jim Malone of Canton; one stepsister, Pat Knepper of San Diego; three stepbrothers, Dick Grant, Dennis Houston and Joe Houston, all of Canton and his stepmother, Alice Malone of Canton.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. The funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Larry Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Corning cemetery.

Frances Duncan
Frances Irene Duncan, 73, of Wappapello, formerly of Flint, Mich., died Monday, June 7, 2004 at her residence.
Mrs. Duncan was born Feb. 7, 1931, at Leachville, Ark. She retired in 1982 from General Motors in Flint, Mich. as an inspector. She was a member of the 326 retired chapter of the UAW in Flint, and of the local union chapter of the Retirees Drop-In Center of Poplar Bluff. She was a member of the Westwood Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, where she was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the choir and a member of the Living Singing Christmas Tree program. She enjoyed spending time with her family and going to yard sales.
On April 22, 1950, she married
Eugene Carl Duncan in Paragould, Ark.
Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Rocheleau of Flint; three sons, Randall Duncan of Clarksville, Tenn., Rodney Duncan of Flint and Mark Duncan of Poplar Bluff; five sisters, Betty Taylor of Leachville, Ark., Doris Robertson of St. Johns, Millie Higgens, Madeline Bridges and Edna Melrose, all of St. Louis; two brothers, Weldon Wright of Kansas City and Wilborn Wright of Edmundson; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel at Wappapello. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Westwood Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff with the Rev. Steve Proctor officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens cemetery.
