Don Lerbs
DONIPHAN -- Don William Lerbs, 63, of Doniphan, died Oct. 27, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Lerbs was born Aug. 13, 1940, in Washington, Mo. He grew up in Berger and lived in Doniphan for 25 years.
Mr. Lerbs was retired and of the Christian faith. He was an organ (eyes and skin) donor.
Survivors include five children; Kirt Lerbs, Kent Lerbs, Kelly Lerbs and Kimberly Burke, all of St. Louis, and Daniel Pulliam of Acworth, Ga.; his stepfather, Wilford LaBoube of Herman; five grandchildren; and his special friend, Rose Plogger.
The funeral service was Nov. 10 in Herman. Burial was at Berger cemetery.
Loretta Ligons
MALDEN -- Loretta Earnheart Ligons, 69, of Malden died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Ligons was born Jan. 8, 1934, in Leachville, Ark. She attended the Qulin Assembly of God Church.
On Sept. 21, 2001, she married
Lavern Eldon Liggons in Piggot, Ark. He survives.
Other survivors include one son, Lynn Hufford of Jackson; two daughters, Tammy Eads of Malden and Carol Nelson of Oregon, Ill.; two stepsons, Van Ligons of Fenton and Keith Ligons of Bakersfield, Calif.; two brothers, A.J. Earnheart and Kenny Earnheart, both of Malden; one sister, Peggy Earnheart of Malden; her mother-in-law, Bertha Ligons Raley of Campbell; eight grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Earnest Puckett officiating. Burial will be in the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton.
Willie Ward
Willie Ward, 102, of Broseley died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Ward was born March 14, 1901, in Grady, Ark. A homemaker, she was a member of the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.
She was married
to Iodia Ward. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include one brother, Charlie Reed of California; one sister, Leveda Jones of St. Louis; and a niece and caregiver with whom she lived, Rosie Lee Britton of Broseley.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Andrew Jefferson officiating. Burial will be in the Morocco cemetery in Butler County.
Cotrell Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Zack Tinker
MOLINE, Ill. -- Zack H. Tinker, 79, of East Moline, Ill., died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island, Ill.
Mr. Tinker was born Dec. 16, 1923, in Williamsville. He was a very active member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served during World War II. He enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Tinker of the home; two daughters, Robin Thomas of Springfield, Ill., and Kim Angel of East Moline; two sons, Michael Bragg and Vern Tinker, both of East Moline; and 13 grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Moline. Burial was in the Greenview Memorial Gardens cemetery with full military honors.
Hope E. Dugger
Hope Elizabeth Dugger was still born on Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at the Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus.
She is survived by parents, John Kevin Dugger and Kristie Lynn Raper Dugger of Doniphan; grandparents, Vernon and Mary Raper of Doniphan and Mitchel and Juanita Dugger of Fairdealing; and a brother, Dylan Dugger of Doniphan.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Fairdealing cemetery. Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. Ron Fowler will officiate.
Lois Campbell
MALDEN -- Lois Jewell Campbell, 79, of Bernie died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Campbell was born Nov. 30, 1923, in Steele.
She was married
to Taylor Campbell who preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Norman Austill of Tacoma, Wash., Harold Wayne Austill of Greer, S.C., and Danny Austill of Memphis, Tenn.; three daughters, Carolyn Carver of DuQuoin, Ill., Sharon Austill of Dutchtown and Linda Randall of Hurley, Miss.; two sisters, Dora Willy of Barnhart and Doris Ridge of Cape Girardeau; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Joe B. Masters and the Rev. Mel Carver officiating. Burial will be in the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton.
Wilburn Elder
Wilburn Clyde Elder, 71, of Poplar Bluff died at 3:12 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus.
Mr. Elder was born Oct. 9, 1932, near Greenville. He was a member of the Little Brown General Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he was well known for his fish frying.
On March 13, 1953, he married
Stella Stovall in Pocahontas, Ark. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Gary Clyde Elder of Madison, Miss.; one brother, LaVern Elder of Poplar Bluff; four sisters, Vernice Seratt of Poplar Bluff, Velma Chapman of Rochelle, Ill., Veda Lechner of Emrrillan, Wis. and Violet Bennett of Machesney Park, Ill.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sunday at the Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Willis Smith officiating and the Rev. Bill Orr assisting. Burial will be at Memorial Garden cemetery.
John Shewmon
John Curtis Shewmon, 72, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. His death was sudden and unexpected.
Mr. Shewmon was born May 16, 1931, in Dayton, Ohio. He graduated from the Naval Academy in New London, Conn., and retired from the U.S. Navy in 1973 as Chief Petty Officer with a submarine fleet. He was an active member of the New Covenant Fellowship Church in Poplar Bluff. He enjoyed spending time with his family, Bible study, hunting, camping and traveling.
On Dec. 22, 1952, he married
Marjorie Ann Armour in Dayton. She survives.
Other survivors include four children, Kathleen Sue Rott of Union, Deborah Lynn Nelson of Kingman, Ariz., Robert Scot Shewmon of Poplar Bluff and Thomas Armour Shewmon of Linwood, Kan.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at New Covenant Fellowship Church. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Jerry Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the New Covenant Fellowship Church Harmony Retirement Community Fund.
Norman Green
PUXICO -- Norman M. Green, 83, of Indianapolis died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, in Indianapolis.
Mr. Green was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Puxico. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 17 and Union Local 1111 Retirees. He retired from the Ford Motor Co. in 1986 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was married
to Rosemary Green, who survives.
Other survivors include one son, Greg Green; and one daughter, Roseanne Cameron.
Visitation will begin at noon Saturday at Morgan-Sifford Funeral Home in Puxico. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Puxico City cemetery.
Larry Pace
CAMPBELL -- Larry "Joe" Gene Pace, 57, of Campbell died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at the Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Mr. Pace was born Feb. 6, 1946, in Campbell. He was a farm laborer.
Survivors include his father, Lavern Pace of Campbell; one brother, Garland Pace of Campbell; and two sisters, Peggy Smiley of Malden and Gail McCain of Holcomb.
Visitation will begin at noon today at Landess Funeral Home in Campbell. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Elder cemetery in Campbell.
