Elizabeth Moody
DONIPHAN -- Anna Elizabeth Moody, 81, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan.
Mrs. Moody was born Dec. 23, 1921 in Woodriver, Ill. She was a member of the Fairview Church of God, and obtained her GED in 1993, and enjoyed books. Mrs. Moody was a retired Avon lady.
On Sept. 23, 1940, she married
William Allen Moody in Newton, Iowa. He preceded her in death April 4, 1990.
Survivors include one son, Herb Moody of Dexter; two sisters, Darlene Hayes of Phoenix, Ariz., and Betty Barron of Huntsville; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Brother Donnie Sanford officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove cemetery.
Lois Lorber Ruff
Lois Elenore Lorber Ruff, 94, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Westwood Hills Healthcare in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Ruff was born Sept. 15, 1909, in Doniphan. A homemaker, she was a member of the Highland Church of Christ.
She married
DR. T. Eugene Ruff on Nov. 14, 1931, in Columbia. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1991.
Survivors include one brother, W. Nelson Lorber of Rochester, Minn.; one sister, Margaret Hurber of Love Park, Ill., and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral beginning at 11 a.m. Mr. Jerry Robertson will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Pitman, Ark.
Flora Knight
GIDEON -- Flora Cummings Knight, 90, of Harrisonville died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 at Cass Medical Center in Harrisonville.
Mrs. Knight was born Dec. 28, 1912 in Marietta, Miss.
Survivors include one son, Robert Lee of Harrisonville; one brother, Lee Cummings of Poplar Bluff and two grandchildren, Sylvia Roedel of Lee's Summit and Shelly Cunnningham of Garden City.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Gideon. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Bill Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Gilead cemetery in Clarkton.
Jimmie Brooks
NEELYVILLE -- Jimmie Ray Brooks, 32, of Scott City died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Brooks was born Nov. 10, 1971, in Thayer. He had formerly lived in Sikeston, and was a graduate of Naylor High School. He liked model cars and worked on small engines and had won a state competition award in small engines.
Survivors include his parents, Trudea Mae White of Sikeston and Jimmie R. Brooks of Jackson; grandmother, Essie Brooks of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Patty Lynn Brooks of Witchita, Kan.; one brother, Raymond Patrick Brooks of Cape Girardeau, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel with the Rev. Donnie Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the Naylor Masonic cemetery.
James DeClue
PIEDMONT -- James E. DeClue, 59, of Piedmont died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. DeClue was born Dec. 20, 1943 in St. Louis. He attended Harvest Baptist Church in Piedmont and was a self-employed carpenter.
On Nov. 4, 1961, he married
Patsy S. Cravens. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Robert E. DeClue of Mill Spring and James E. DeClue, Jr. of Patterson, and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Ruegg Funeral Home in Piedmont. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wayne Street officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic cemetery in Piedmont.
Mamie Dell
DEXTER -- Mamie Pearl Dell, 95, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Mrs. Dell was born Oct. 22, 1908, in Moark, Ark. She was affiliated with the Baptist faith and was a homemaker.
On April 5, 1927, she married
Charlie M. Dell in Corning, Ark. He preceded her in death July 14, 1975.
Survivors include two sons, Delmar Gene Dell of Ellington and Jerry W. Dell of Imperial; two daughters, Violet Clemons of Imperial and Peggy Baker of Dudley; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Earl D. Dell and the Rev. Phil Warren officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in the Williams cemetery in Moark.
Billy Knox Sr.
Billy Carroll Knox Sr., 75, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Knox was born April 20, 1928, in Springfield, Ill. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired truck driver who enjoyed the outdoors, working on his tractor, riding his horse and reading.
On Feb. 14, 1954, he married
Hazel Anderson in St. Louis. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Billy C. Knox Jr. of St. Charles, Dennis Knox of Foley and Terry Chambers of Herndon, Va.; four daughters, Carol Comeaux of Naples, Fla., Deborah Doelger of Mancos, Colo., Christine Bankert of Atoka, Tenn., and Rebecca Hunt of Viesburg, Miss.; one brother, Bob Knox of Cahokia, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in the Missouri State Veterans cemetery in Bloomfield.
Memorials may be made to the United Gospel Rescue Mission.
Colten Stoker
DEXTER -- Colten Lee Edward Stoker, the infant son of Ben Stoker and Lacy Eakes of Dexter, was stillborn Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare-North Campus.
Survivors include his parents; one brother, Taylor Jordan Sanders of Dexter; his grandparents, Linda and Odell Stoker of Essex and James Eakes and Tammie Keeler, both of Dexter; and his great-grandparents, Billy and Diane Brooks of Phenix, Ala.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Hagy cemetery with the Rev. Mike Watkins officiating. Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
Daronda Neal
Daronda Jean Neal, 46, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare-North Campus.
Mrs. Neal was born Nov. 30, 1956, in Poplar Bluff. A homemaker, she was a member of the Oak Grove Homemakers Club. She attended the First Assembly of God Church for 42 years, where she worked with the Children's Church and the Missionetts. Her hobbies were painting, needlework and writing poetry and songs. She especially enjoyed helping others.
On Oct. 27, 1978, she married
Thomas Neal in Poplar Bluff. He survives.
Other survivors include her children, Sara Neal of St. Louis and Josh Neal of the home; her parents, Chester and Betty (Riepe) Stroud of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Lennis Stroud of Puxico; and one sister, Debbie Arnold of Poplar Bluff.
Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ralph Kirkman officiating and Mike Stevenson assisting. Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City cemetery.
Patsy Straub
MALDEN -- Patsy Ann Straub, 68, of Malden died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Straub was born Dec. 15, 1934, in Ridgely, Tenn. Over 20 years ago, she purchased a small country store, which she turned into a thriving business. After marrying, she helped managed Straub Trucking with her husband. Three years ago, she began attending the Spoonerville Baptist Church and on June 15, she was baptized there. Among her many accomplishments, she raised seven children and participated in the upbringing of many of her grandchildren.
On Dec. 24, 1982, she married
Carl Robert Straub in Malden. He preceded her in death Dec. 12, 1991.
Survivors include three sons, Floyd Ray Pierce and wife Viola and Billy Wayne Pierce and wife Debbie, all of Covert, Mich., and Douglas Payne and wife Jackie of Malden; three daughters, Judy Ann Turner and husband Paul of Ellsinore, Sandy Kramer and husband Ron of Festus and Rebecca Payne and husband Scott of Malden; two brothers, Phillip "Chuckie" White of Akron, Ohio, and James Robert Straub of Hayti; 17 grandchildren, Cindy, Paul Wayne, David, Chrissy, Pammy Jo, Tommy, Jennifer, Michael, Tyler, Jacob, Amanda, Michael, D.J., Daniel, Chris, Cody and Taylor; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip Carl and Flossie Laverne (Mingle) White; one son, Carl Pierce; and one sister, Jesse White.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Richard Blagg officiating. Burial will be in the Brown Chapel cemetery in Broseley.
