Gladys Rinnert

NEELYVILLE -- Gladys Rinnert, 92, of Naylor died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at her residence.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville.

Leatrice Limbaugh

PUXICO -- Leatrice Mae Limbaugh, 78, of Puxico died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Limbaugh was born Jan. 3, 1925, at Holcomb. She was a homemaker and had lived all her life in Puxico.

She married Van Limbaugh Jr.; he survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Ronnie Limbaugh of Puxico and Lindsey Limbaugh of O'Fallon. A son, Danny Limbaugh preceded her in death.

She is also survived by two brothers, Earl Trout of Dexter and Bill Trout of Puxico; four sisters, Mary Hicks of Cape Girardeau, Mavis Gray of Puxico, Opal Wilson of Arnold and Jean Lambert of Dexter; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Buril Trout; two sisters, Neville Abernathy and Dora Trout; and by her parents Orie Trout and Dot Wright Trout.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Morgan Sifford Funeral Home in Puxico. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Puxico City cemetery.

Velma Veatch

CAMPBELL -- Velma Veatch, 87, of Rombauer, formerly of Qulin, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at her residence.

Arrangements are pending with Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.

Charles E. Morrison

Charles E. Morrison, 87, an active and well-known businessman in Poplar Bluff, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare-North campus.

Mr. Morrison was born Oct. 11, 1916, in Ayrshire, Iowa. He graduated from Ayrshire High School and Muscatine Community College. He served in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the Army Signal Corps. He attended Officers Candidate School in New Jersey, and trained in amphibious operations with headquarters in Fort Ord, Calif. He served in the Pacific with assault landings on Leyte, Luzon and Okinawa.

In 1957, he and his wife opened Morrison's Children's Store in Poplar Bluff, which they operated until the mid-1990s. He also owned the Mansion Mall Hallmark Store for over 20 years. Mr. Morrison was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and served on the board of the Margaret Harwell Art Museum.

He married Mary O'Brien in Muscatine, Iowa, on Nov. 14, 1942. She died Sept. 20, 2003.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathie Reed of Blue Spring and Joie Proffer of Poplar Bluff; one son, Jim Morrison of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A Rosary will begin at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, followed by visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Monsignor Michael Swalina officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery in Poplar Bluff.

Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic School.

Ralph Cossiart

BLOOMFIELD -- Ralph Cossiart, 89, of Paducah, Ky., died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at the Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.

Mr. Cossiart was born March 3, 1914, in Bloomfield. He was a member and Deacon Emeritus of the First Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church in Paducah and retired as superintendent of Bride Construction. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army where he was awarded three Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal and a Merit Unit Service Insignia.

In 1953, he married Mary Bornemann. She survives.

Other survivors include one daughter, Nancy Whitley of Rock Mount, N.C.; one sister, Ruth Wilson of Bloomfield; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dan Masden officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Point cemetery.

John Quigley

John Quigley, 85, of Poplar Bluff died Monday Dec. 8, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Quigley was born Oct. 8, 1918 in Ripley County and was a long time resident of Poplar Bluff. He was of the Baptist faith and was an edge trimmer for the Florshiem Shoe Company. He enjoyed gardening, farming, hunting, watching Cardinals baseball and spending time with his grandchildren.

On Oct. 17, 1942, he married Nola Mitchell in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Betty Ragland, Brenda O'Connor and husband James, all of Poplar Bluff and Lynn Roberts and husband Curtis, of Wyoming; two sons, Terry Quigley and Rick Quigley, both of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren, Brandi Smith and husband Phillip, Kristy Bettuo and husband Trace, John Quigley, and Christopher O'Conner, all of Poplar Bluff; four great-grandchildren, Trevor Cody, Haley and Ethan Bettuo and Ava Smith, all of Poplar Bluff.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Dowd officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn cemetery.

Ricky Gammons

PIEDMONT -- Ricky Lee Gammons, 47, of Piedmont died suddenly Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003 at his residence.

Mr. Gammons was born July 30, 1956 at Advance. He attended the Trinity United Methodist Church in Piedmont and he was a 1974 graduate of Clearwater High School and was a professional musician.

He is survived by his mother, Luella Gammons of Piedmont; four children, Mandy Gammons, of Decatur, Ill., Alisha, Ashley and Ricky Gammons, all of Piedmont; one sister, Loretta Gammons, of St. Charles and one brother, Charles Earl Gammons of Piedmont.

Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Morrison-Worley Funeral Home in Piedmont. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the chapel with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope cemetery in McGee.

Ray O'Dell

ELLSINORE -- Ledru Alva "Ray" O'Dell, 79, of Ellsinore died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 at the Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis.

Mr. O'Dell was born Nov. 17, 1924 in Ellsinore, where he had resided most of his life. He was a retired welder and had worked for the A.O. Smith Company. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Eagles Club in Marble Hill as well as the AMVETS in Van Buren. Mr. O'Dell was a United States Army veteran, having served in WW1.

On March 3, 1949, he married Darlene Pyle. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include four sons, Raymond L. O'Dell, Larry A. O'Dell and John H. O'Dell, all of Edwardsville, Ill., and Mark S. O'Dell of Warden, Ill.; four sisters, Inez Harvitan and Evelyn Boots, both of Van Buren, Verna Mae Dalhen, and Betty Lou Wallace, both of Wood River, Ill; four brothers, George O'Dell of Van Buren, James O'Dell of Wood River, Ill., Lloyd "Bill" O'Dell of Morgantown, Ky. and Charles "Sonny" O'Dell of Salem, Ill.; ten grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellsinore. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Ronn Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the Gresham cemetery.

Verle Talkington

MALDEN -- Verle Talkington, 74, of Dandridge, Tenn., formerly of Malden, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 in Dandridge.

Mrs. Talkington was born Feb. 15, 1929 in Malden. She was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker.

She was married to Billy Gene Talkington. He preceded her in death Sept. 11, 2000.

Other survivors include one son, Michael Talkington of Dandridge; one sister, Merle Gray of San Angelo, Texas; one brother, Jeff Hutchison of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden. The funeral service will follow a 1 p.m. with the Rev. O.H. Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.

Charles McDonald

MALDEN -- Charles Lee McDonald, 68, of Malden died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Mr. McDonald was born Nov. 8, 1935 at Magness, Ark. He was an active member of the Marble Hill United Methodist Church and was involved with the United Youth Fellowship, as well as a member of the adult choir, a lay speaker and a Sunday school teacher. Mr. McDonald was a graduate of Malden High School and received his Master of Science degree from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. He began his teaching career at Woodland R4 school district in Marble Hill and was a former resident of Marble Hill, moving back to Malden after retiring in May 1982. Upon returning to Malden, he worked for Maco Construction in Clarkton for more than five years. He was very active in the community, as a member and past president of the Rotary Clubs of Marble Hill, and Malden; a member of the Malden and Marble Hill Jaycees; he served on the Malden School board for 12 years, a number of those as president. He served on the Malden Airport board for 13 years; served as a Boy Scout leader; coached Malden Little League baseball. During the time he was teaching in Marble Hill, he became the official scorekeeper for the Woodland basketball and volleyball teams.

Survivors include four brothers, Lawrence McDonald, Bob McDonald, Terry McDonald and Roy McDonald, all of Malden, and 12 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Wigger officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.

Memorials may be made to the Charles McDonald Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o First State Community Bank in Malden.
