NEELYVILLE -- Lyle Baccas, 27, of Siloam Springs, formerly of Naylor, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, near Neelyville.

Everett Thompson
ELLINGTON -- Everett C. Thompson, 80, of Ellington died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at the Reynolds County Memorial Hospital in Ellington.
Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 22, 1923, in Shannon County. He was baptized at the United Church of Christ Nov. 19, 1967, in Salem. He was a past member of the VFW and the Fraternal Order of the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. in Poplar Bluff. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army and had worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Reynolds County Highway Department. He loved hunting deer and turkey, pulling pranks on people and a good laugh.
On Nov. 17, 1945, he married
Cathern Howard in St. Charles. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, David Thompson of Ellington; one daughter, Donna Buford of O'Fallon; three sisters, Wilma Riley of Raymore, Georgia Martin of Ellington and Erma Brawley of Ballwin; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellington. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jim Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the Ellington Memorial cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Oscar J. Brady
BLOOMFIELD -- Oscar J. "Shorty" Brady, 76, of Bloomfield died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at Beverly Health and Rehab Center in Bloomfield.
Mr. Brady was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Walnut Ridge, Ark. He had lived in Bloomfield since 1946, and was a retired concrete construction employee of Jarrell's Concrete Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He married
Virginia Martin on March 26, 1948; she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Sandra Pilcher of Clarksville, Tenn.; a son, Martin Brady of Zanesville, Ohio, a brother, Utah Brady of Houston, Texas; and a sister, Winnona McGuire of Gulfport, Miss.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The funeral will be held at 9:45 a.m. Monday at the Watkins & Sons Chapel with Mike Watkins officiating. Military Rites will be conduced at the Missouri Veterans cemetery at 11 a.m. Monday preceding burial, with the Southeast Missouri Honor Guard of Poplar Bluff officiating.
John Rush
BERNIE -- John D. Rush, 64, of Oakman, Ala., died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper, Ala.
Mr. Rush was born April 13, 1939, in Oneonta, Ala. He was a former resident of Bernie and was a member of the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church. He had worked in hotel security before retirement.
On June 30, 1956, he married
Faye Garrison in Kennett. She preceded him in death Jan. 13, 2003.
Survivors include four sons, Marty Rush of Austell, Ga., David Rush of Kennett, Travis Rush of Lithia Springs, Ga., and Benjamin Rush of Dexter; seven daughters, Paula Collier and Wanda Rush, both of Dexter, Joanne Coblentz of Sarasota, Fla., Treca Rush of South Point, Ohio, Johnetta Garbiso of Walsenburg, Colo., Sandi Podskoc of Warner Robbins, Ga., and Beckie Collier of Sikeston; one brother, Sherman Rush of Shannon, Miss.; one sister, Sarrah Porter of Oakman; 21 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Earnest Puckett and the Rev. Jimmy Porte officiating. Burial will be in the Smith-Stevenson cemetery in rural Bernie.
Katherine Hamilton
PIEDMONT -- Katherine Hamilton, 85, of Piedmont died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at the Clark's Mountain Nursing Center in Piedmont.
Mrs. Hamilton was born Nov. 19, 1917, in Piedmont. She was a lifetime resident of Piedmont and was the bookkeeper for W.M. Luna Hardware Store in Piedmont for 41 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had served as secretary for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
On May 23, 1937, she married
Coyle Hamilton in Corning, Ark. He preceded her in death Jan. 17, 2002.
Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Little of Wilmington, Del.; one sister, Sheila Lovelace of Piedmont; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Morrison-Worley Funeral Home in Piedmont with an Eastern Star service beginning at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jack Little officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic cemetery.
Ralph Markham
DONIPHAN -- Ralph Markham, 90, of Doniphan died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan.
Arrangements are pending with Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.
Bessie Mae Talley
PIEDMONT -- Bessie Mae Talley, 86, of Wappapello died Friday Nov. 7, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Talley was born Nov. 16, 1916, in Corridon. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God church.
She married
Omer Talley Aug. 8 1936; he survives.
Also surviving are a son, William "Bill" Talley of Wappapello; two daughters Peggy Jo Blunt and Wilma Hawley, both of Wappapello; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at Ruegg Funeral Home of Piedmont. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Joe Zarro officiating. Burial will be in the Sutton cemetery at Vulcan.
Loren Killmer
DEXTER -- Loren "Bud" Killmer, 68, of Dexter died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Alma Gray
FISK -- Alma Gray, 95, of Dexter died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Gray was born Oct. 9, 1908, in Poplar Bluff. She had lived in St. Louis for several years and had been a resident of Dexter for 13 years. She owned and operated Gray's Trailer Park in St. Louis County until she retired in 1978. She loved gardening and yard work.
She was married
to Chester Gray who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one niece, Freda Miller of Romulus, Mich.; four great-nieces, Carol Jarrell, Janet Hoffman, Denise Spicer and Sandy Lowe; four great-nephews, Danny Miller, Steven Miller, Randy English and Tim English; five great-great-nephews; 11 great-great-nieces; and 12 great-great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alice Franklin Koonce; one sister, Lillie English; one brother, Allen Koonce; one nephew, Frank English Jr.; two great-nephews, David and Kevin Miller; and one great-great-niece, Tracie English.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Metcalf, the Rev. Donald Morgan and T.L. Jarrell officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City cemetery.
Bertha Brown
BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- Bertha "Bea" (Clark) Brown, 68, of Belleville, Ill., died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.
Mrs. Brown was born Aug. 29, 1935, in Poplar Bluff. She had been manager of the Cahokia Village Laundry for the past 18 years and was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Belleville.
On May 29, 1953, she married
Clyde Brown in Poplar Bluff. He survives.
Other survivors include three children, Clyde R. Brown Jr. of Belleville, Kathy A. Brown of Everett, Wash., and Janice L. Pyszka of O'Fallon, Ill.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and siblings, Bud Clark, Mary Ann Trentlemann, Delores Rushin, Loretta Boyd, Bill Clark, Stanley Clark, Donald Clark and Helen Mitchell.
A memorial mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Belleville with Father Marvin Volk officiating. Barnes-Styninger Funeral Home in Belleville is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Wisdom
PIEDMONT -- Charles E. Wisdom, 60, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Piedmont, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Wisdom was born June 28, 1943, in Bunker. He had worked at an electric warehouse and was past master of the Masonic Lodge in Ellington and Marble Hill. He was also past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star. He sang for many years in gospel and bluegrass groups in the area and was of the Baptist faith.
On Aug. 17, 1968, he married
Pat Keister at Bunker. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Eva Barnes of Annapolis; his mother, Ellen Roney of Salem; three brothers, Robert Wisdom of Sharon, Tenn., and Gary and David Wisdom, both of Bunker; four sisters, Wanda Gehr and Dorothy Akins, both of Bunker, Vera Luttrell of Salem and Deborah Batson of Park Hills; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will begin after 5 p.m. Friday at Morrison-Worley Funeral Home in Piedmont with a Masonic service beginning at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bunker Tabernacle in Bunker with the Rev. Kenneth Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Greeley cemetery in Bunker.
