Moudlene Fears
ELLINGTON -- Moudlene M. (Freeman) Fears, 82, of Ellington died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.
Mrs. Fears was born Dec. 8, 1920, in Bunker. She was a member of the Ellington First Baptist Church and a homemaker.
On Aug. 26, 1939, she married
Samuel Fears in Centerville. He preceded her in death Dec. 1, 1987.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Fears of St. Charles, Ronald Fears of Hillsboro and Larry Fears of Hawk Point; two daughters, Melba Starks of St. Charles and Glenda Brunk of Ellington; one sister, Hazel Martin of Bunker; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellington. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Ellington City cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Ellington Senior Citizen Nutrition Center or the American Cancer Society.
Edward Riley
Edward V. Riley, 82, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Arrangements are pending with Cotrell Funeral Service.
Velma Veatch
CAMPBELL -- Velma A. Veatch, 87, of Rombauer died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Veatch was born May 22, 1916, in Dunklin County. She was a former resident of Qulin and was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. She was a homemaker.
On May 26, 1934, she married
Wilburn Paul Veatch in Campbell. He preceded her in death Feb. 3, 1985.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Veatch and Vickie Minehart, both of Poplar Bluff; two sons, David Veatch of Rombauer and John Veatch of Monroe, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Tuesday at Landess Funeral Home in Campbell. The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James "Jim" Schremp officiating. Burial was in the Elder cemetery in Campbell.
Jessie Lee Klutts
CAMPBELL -- Jessie Lee Klutts, 82, of Campbell died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Ark.
Mrs. Klutts was born Feb. 14, 1921. She was a member of the Malden Church of God and a homemaker.
She married
Clifford Klutts, Sept. 11, 1937; he died Oct. 31, 1975.
Surviving are three sons, Phillip E. Klutts of Memphis, Paul Roberts of Bellingham, Wash., and Jerome Klutts of Dexter; three daughters, Dorthy Branam of Parkersburg, W.Va., Ernestine Pattillo and Joyce Ross, both of Malden; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Landess Funeral Home of Malden. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. James Wampler officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn cemetery at Campbell.
Pauline Williams
Pauline Lola Williams, 95, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Williams was born Sept. 21, 1908, in Harviell and was a homemaker.
In 1951, she married
Zelbert Ray Williams. He preceded her in death Sept. 16, 1985.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Joe Glenn of Park Hills and Harold R. Glenn of St. Charles; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Clara May Gutierrez of California and Genevia Dollins of Mission, Texas.
A graveside funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Friday at Memorial Gardens cemetery in Poplar Bluff with the Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Cotrell Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Maxine Macauley
Maxine A. Macauley, 88, a former resident of Poplar Bluff for 46 years, died Sept. 22, 2002, at her son's residence in King George, Va.
Mrs. Macauley was born July 25, 1914, in Gerald. She was a retired nursing supervisor, as well as the wife of the late Dr. Bernard Joseph "Dr. Mac" Macauley, a former prominent Poplar Bluff physician.
Survivors include one son, Phillip Macauley of King George; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A private family graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Gardens cemetery in Poplar Bluff. Cotrell Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Wayne Black
CHARLESTON -- Wayne Stark Black, 69, of Charleston died at 7:59 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Black was born Oct. 26, 1934, in Charleston. He served with the U.S. Air Force for nine years. He lived in Blodgett while he was employed with the Sikeston United States Post Office for 40 years. He returned to Charleston upon his retirement where he had served on the board of the Charleston Nutrition Center and was known for his delivery of smiles as well as meals. An active giver to Red Cross Blood Drives, he had received numerous recognitions for his continuous donations. He also attended the Assembly of God Church..
On Oct. 7, 1989, he married
Sharron Black Friend. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Judith Diann Miller of Blodgett and Dayna Michelle Laseter of St. Louis; two stepsons, Lowell Friend of Covington, Tenn., and Oral Friend of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Lucille Stephenson of Poplar Bluff and Shirley Hughes of Dexter; two grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gerald Penn officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Flossie Pollard
RECTOR, Ark. -- Flossie M. Pollard, 79, of Rector, Ark., died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Mrs. Pollard was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Nimmons, Ark. She was a homemaker and was affiliated with the United Pentecostal faith.
She was married
to Enos Pollard. He survives.
Other survivors include one son, Franklin Stidham of Rector; four daughters, Carol Sue Brown of Ravenden, Ark., Betty Marie Johnson of Rector and Wilma Lee Guiltner and Connie Lindley, both of Jonesboro; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Monday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector. The funeral service was held Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with Wayne Bowman officiating. Burial was in the Nimmons cemetery in Nimmons.
Juanita Moeller
PUXICO -- Juanita Moeller, 96, of Wentzville died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, in Wentzville.
Mrs. Moeller was born Dec. 31, 1906. She was a former resident of St. Louis and a homemaker.
She was married
to Clarence Moeller. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Visitation will begin at noon Friday at Morgan-Sifford Funeral Home in Puxico. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with John Admans officiating. Burial will be in Puxico City cemetery.
Clarence Thompson Jr.
Clarence Thompson Jr., 38, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare-North Campus. He had been in declining health for the past several years.
Mr. Thompson was born Aug. 18, 1965, in St. Louis and was of the Baptist faith. He was employed at Three Rivers Community College in the maintenance department. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include two brothers, Anthony Thompson and Prince Thompson, both of Poplar Bluff; four sisters, Vanessa Hopson of Poplar Bluff, Diane Whitaker of Wardell and Tina Thompson and Marsha Thompson, both of St. Louis; one stepbrother, Michael Davis of Poplar Bluff; and four stepsisters, Dorothy Turner, Loraine Banks and Deborah Davis, all of Indianapolis and Velma Daffin of St. Louis.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Johnny Williams officiating and the Rev. Andrew Jefferson assisting. Burial will be in Morocco cemetery in Butler County.
Eva Bottens
DONIPHAN -- Eva E. Bottens, 91, of Doniphan died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan.
Ms. Bottens was born March 22, 1912, in Palmyra. She was a member of the Doniphan Church of God and was retired from the Hudson House Cannery in Forest Grove, Ore.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan with Bro. Larry Bashaw officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove cemetery.
