DEXTER -- Ruby Myers, 88, of Dexter, died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Bennie Osborn
QULIN -- Bennie F. Osborn, 93, of Qulin, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare-North Campus in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Osborn was born Feb. 1, 1910, in Osborn Community. He attended Osborn General Baptist Church and served on the Qulin cemetery Board for several years. He was a retired farmer and loved fishing and hunting.
On Nov. 9, 1929, he married
Marie Lancaster. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Darlene Duncan of Dexter; two sons, Charles Dewayne Osborn of Poplar Bluff and Frank L. Osborn of Bunker; one sister, Hazel Petty of Qulin; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were one son, Augustus J. Osborn; his parents, Ike and Daisy (Stroud) Osborn; three sisters, Eva Wagner, Cinnie Herrington and Maggie Smith; four brothers, Irvin, William, Johnny and Alfred (Jude) Osborn; and two grandchildren, Donna Osborn and Charles D. Osborn Jr.
Visitation will begin at 6 tonight at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mark Book officiating. Burial will be in Qulin cemetery.
Lewis Moore
PUXICO -- Lewis Moore, 86, of Puxico, formerly of Dudley, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Puxico Nursing Center in Puxico.
Mr. Moore was born Sept. 6, 1916, at Wappapello. He was a member of Bluff City United Pentecostal Church in Poplar Bluff. He was a farmer and managed and owned Puxico Stock Yards and Auction for 20 years. He enjoyed his grandchildren and loved to hunt.
On May 16, 1935, he married
Artie Pearl Andrews in Poplar Bluff. She preceded him in death Feb. 2, 1997.
Survivors include one son, James Moore of Dudley; one daughter, Betty Mattingly of Dudley; one brother, William Franklin Moore of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin after 6 tonight at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico with Bro. Ted Elledge officiating. Burial will be in Little Brushy cemetery at Wappapello.
Novella Cornelison
BERNIE -- Novella Jean Cornelison, 72, of Bernie died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
Mrs. Cornelison was born March 31, 1931, in Lavelle. She had been a resident of Bernie for over 20 years and was a member of the General Baptist Church in Bernie. She was a homemaker.
On Jan. 16, 1959, she married
Alva Elvis Cornelison in Bernie. He preceded her in death Aug. 1, 2001.
Survivors include two children, William Craft of Tonopah, Ariz., and Scott Cornelison of Dexter; one brother, Dennis Craft of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Nell Brown of Bernie, Lula Middleton of Radcliff, Ky., and Wanita Gibson of St. Francis, Ark.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Arvil Edmonds officiating. Burial will be in the Bernie cemetery.
George Moncey, Jr.
DES ARC, Mo. -- George W. Moncey, Jr., 79, of Des Arc died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003. He was born Dec. 31, 1923 in St. Louis and was raised in Des Arc.
Mr. Moncey was a member of Pipefitters Local No. 562 and was an active member of Alton Eagles and Florissant Elks.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Henderson Moncey; one daughter, Linda Church of Florissant; three sons, Wayne Moncey, Steve Moncey and David Moncey, all of Florissant; one stepson, Drex Oldaker; three stepdaughters, Debbie Barnard, Sharon McCarthy and Lynn Chapman; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Stygar Family of Funeral Service's Stygar Florissant chapel.
The funeral will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Stygar Florissant Chapel and then will proceed to St. Norbert Church for a 10 a.m. service. Interment will be at Sacred Heart cemetery.
David Townsend
DEXTER -- William David Townsend, 61, of Dexter died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Feb. 3, 1942 at Fisk.
Mr. Townsend was a retired salesman, and had been a resident of Dexter the past 25 years. He was an active member of the Dudley Community Church in Dudley. On July 1, 1967 he married
Barbara Holyfield. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Melissa Hahn and Carla Pixley, both of Dexter; six brothers, Carl Townsend of Malden, Bob Townsend of St. Louis, Larry Townsend of Pacific, Jerry Townsend of Dudley, Louie Townsend of Piedmont and Pete Townsend of Jackson; three sisters, Shirley Bender of Puxico, Emma Lou Hobbs of Dudley, and Joann Horn of Farmington; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Don Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Bloomfield cemetery.
Orion Reatherford
Orion Reatherford, 78, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Reatherford was born Feb. 15, 1925, in Pana, Ill., and was of the Christian faith. He was a retired blacksmith as well as a heavy equipment operator. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a member of the DAV. He enjoyed working on lawnmowers.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Reatherford of Poplar Buff and Bob Reatherford of Pana; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Millie Clark of Poplar Bluff.
Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Riley Mathias officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Erich Hemmerlein
GREENVILLE -- Erich Earnest Hemmerlein, 84, of Greenville died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Hemmerlein was born May 17, 1919, in Corning, Ark. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1982, after working for the Caterpillar Company for nine years and also working as a self-employed mechanic for several years.
On March 13, 1948, he married
Lois Bailey. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Earnest Lee Hemmerlein of Williamsville; one daughter, Virginia Phelps of Williamsville; one brother, Martin Hemmerlein; two grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ruegg Funeral Home in Greenville. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Pierce officiating. Burial will be in the Cool Springs cemetery in Williamsville.
Elsie Lewis
CAMPBELL -- Elsie Lewis, 83, of Campbell died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Ark.
Mrs. Lewis was born Feb. 4, 1920, in Qulin. She was a member of the Campbell Church of Christ and was a retired bookkeeper for L & O Venture Ford Tractor.
On Sept. 11, 1943, she married
Harold Ralph Lewis in Flint, Mich. He preceded her in death Nov. 22, 1988.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Tranum of Memphis, Tenn; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Landess Funeral Home in Campbell. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with Albert Gardener officiating. Burial will be in the Dunklin County Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Betty Nelson
GREENVILLE -- Betty L. Nelson, 59, of Silva died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at the Camelot Nursing Home in Farmington.
Mrs. Nelson was born Nov. 27, 1943, in St. Louis. She had been a resident of Silva for the past seven years and was a homemaker. She attended the Evangel Baptist Church in Silva.
On March 7, 1963, she married
Glen Nelson Sr. in St. Louis. He preceded her in death Feb. 1, 2001.
Survivors include two sons, Glen Nelson Jr. of Silva and Kevin Nelson of Jackson, Minn.; one brother, James Pruyn of Brush Prairie, Wash.; one half-sister, Kathy Stewart of St. Louis; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Morrison-Worley Funeral Home in Greenville. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Rowland-Woods cemetery in Patterson.
Billy Sutton
PIEDMONT -- Billy R. Sutton, 64, of Piedmont died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at his residence. His death was sudden and unexpected.
Mr. Sutton was born Feb. 20, 1939, in Riverside in Reynolds County. He had been a resident of Piedmont for the past 17 years and was a retired dozer operator. He also raised cattle.
On Aug. 17, 1962, he married
Anna Eaton in Piedmont. She survives.
Other survivors include four children, Theodore Reynolds of Ellsinore, Cindy Winningar and William J. Sutton, both of Piedmont and Kimberly Bennett of Fredericktown; five brothers, Gene Sutton, Jim Sutton, George Sutton and Norman Sutton, all of Piedmont and Bob Sutton of Des Arc; three sisters, Berniece Kimes of Piedmont, Agnes Neslong of Texas and Carolyn Street of Patterson; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Morrison-Worley Funeral Home in Piedmont. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with Bro. Jack Ruble officiating. Burial will be in the Eaton cemetery in Piedmont.
