Bessie Beaty
FISK -- Bessie M. Beaty, 92, of Bakersfield, Calif., died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at her daughter's residence in Bakersfield.
Mrs. Beaty was born Nov. 24, 1910, in Fisk. For over 20 years she was a member of the Restaurant Employees International Union, and worked in the restaurant industry for over 30 years. She was a member of Victory Chapel in Bakersfield.
Survivors include two daughters, Lois Jeanne (Galey) Osborn of Bakersfield and Barbara L. (Galey) Snider of Pittsburg; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were three husbands; four brothers, four sisters; and two daughters, Ora Marie Galey and Dorothy M. (Galey) Brown; two grandchildren; and her parents, William T. and Minnie M. (Winans) Hayden.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John McFarlen officiating. Burial will be in Puxico cemetery.
Lloyd K. Bounds
Lloyd Keneth Bounds, 79, a retired house painter, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at his residence in Poplar Bluff. He had been suffering from lung cancer for the past year.
Mr. Bounds was born Sept. 30, 1923, at Griffithville, Ark., to Roy and Florence Bounds. He was a member of Fellowship General Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and vegetable gardening. Mr. Bounds was known for his sense of humor, hard work and family dedication. He served in the Army Air Corps in the European Theater during World War II. On Sept. 28, 1945, he married
Dorothy Wilma Gilliam. She preceded him in death on Oct. 9, 1962. On Dec. 3, 1965, he married
Mary Estelle Fulton Davidson. She survives.
Other survivors include his children, Linda Bounds, Portsmouth, N.H., Janice Pyle, Liberty, Nancy Bounds, Blue Springs, Cynthia Andrews, Cape Girardeau, and Aneta Balcom, Weeki Wachi, Fla.; three stepchildren, Michael Hugh Davidson, Phoenix, Ariz., Patrick Davidson, Cape Girardeau, and Elizabeth Ann Rebstock, Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Marion Bounds, Abilene, Texas, and Norman Bonds, Dotham, Ala.; two sisters, Juanita Clayton and Lois Tedrick, both of Poplar Bluff; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A son, Steve Keneth Bounds, died at birth.
Visitation begins at 7 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Byron Beck will officiate with burial in City cemetery.

Jason M. Flanery
Jason Michael Flanery, 22, of Reynolds died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, as the result of an automobile accident in Reynolds County. His girlfriend, Sarah Stevens, also died in the crash.
Mr. Flanery was born June 6, 1981, in St. Charles. He was a sawmill worker and a former Fremont Fire Department volunteer. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, building models and making people laugh. In his spare time, he enjoyed working as a mechanic.
Survivors include his parents, Cheryl Ann and Ronald J. Flanery of Chaffee; two sisters, Melissa Flanery of Reynolds and Jennifer Flanery of Chaffee; and his grandmother, Phyllis Jones of Irondale.
Visitation begins at noon Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Dunning cemetery in Butler County with the Rev . Ronnie Webb officiating.
Eugene Epperson
DONIPHAN -- Eugene Claude Epperson, 68, of Festus died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003 at his residence.
Mr. Epperson was born June 28, 1935 in Ellsinore. He was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God in Granite City, Ill. He was a retired truck driver who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On Oct. 26, 1967, he married
Loretta Robertson in Doniphan and she survives.
Other survivors include four daughters, Donna Sonnenburg of Houston, Tx., Diane Epperson of Cleveland, Ohio, Cindy Wurst of Clam Gulch, Alaska, and Shannon Backes of Festus; three sons, Tracy Epperson, Kevin Epperson and Russ Epperson, all of Festus; one sister, Mary Henson; one brother, Harold Epperson; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Bro. Lynn Ham officiating. Burial will be at Grandin cemetery.
Maxine Ivey
Maxine Ivey, 79, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Oakdale Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Ivey was born Jan.. 30, 1924, in Van Lear, Ky. She had been a resident of Poplar Bluff for 20 years. She was of the Pentecostal faith and was a homemaker. She married
Charles Ivey on May 16, 1968. He died in February, 2002.
Survivors are two sons: Kenneth Singer of Leadwood and Danny Singer of Valley Park; two daughters: Jenna King of Park Hills and Phyllis Clayton of Campbell; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jim Sanders will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
Melvin Loness
Melvin Loness, 60, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare-North Campus.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bob Healy officiating. Burial will be in the Little Brushy cemetery.
LaVonne Bess
LaVonne Bess, 71, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, in Poplar Bluff.
Arrangements are pending with Cotrell Funeral Service.
Ronald Meyer
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Ronald J. Meyer, 58, of Glen Carbon, Ill., died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare-North Campus in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Meyer was born May 30, 1945, in St. Louis. He was employed at Architectural Millwork of St. Louis, a division of Boa Construction Company, for eight years as a cabinet maker. He was also a member of the Carpenters Union.
On May 19, 1990, he married
Brenda Creason in Maryville, Ill. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughters, Tina Kuehn of Ft. Myers, Fla.; one son, Keith Meyer of Harveys Landing, Penn.; four brothers, William Meyer of St. Louis, Robert Meyer of Edwardsville, Ill., Kenneth Meyer of Ft. Myers and Michael Meyer of Millersburg, Ill.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Saksa Mateer Funeral Home in Edwardsville. The funeral service will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with Father John Corredato officiating.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Pleasant Valley cemetery in Greenville.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Paul Lowery
Paul Junior Lowery, 79, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at the Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Lowery was born June 3, 1924, in Arkansas. He had worked as a cannery lineman.
On Oct. 18, 1947, he married
Ruby Williams in Mayfield. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Debbie Cox of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Daisy Mae Potts of Mississippi; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at Poplar Bluff City cemetery.
Lee A. Shaw
DEXTER -- Lee A. Shaw, 43, of Dexter died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003 at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Giraradeau.
He was born in Parma Feb. 4, 1960.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Committal Shelter in the Missouri Veterans' cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors provided by the Missouri Military Honor Guard.
Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
Isabel Beck
Isabel (Gildehaus) Beck, 89, of Poplar Bluff, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Beck was born April 10, 1914, in Atchison, Kan. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church and was a school secretary for the Madison, Wisc., school district.
On Oct. 2, 1938, she married
Henry Wallace Beck in Atchison. He preceded her in death Dec. 19, 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce Beck of Poplar Bluff and Christopher Beck of Arlington, Texas; one daughter, Stephanie Knighton of Arlington; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Aug. 31, 2003, at the Community of Christ Church in Grand Prairie, Texas.
