George E. Case
George E. Case, 82, Carthage, died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at St. Luke's Nursing Home.
Mr. Case was born June 6, 1921 in Jasper County, Missouri, to George R. and Edith Mae (Frost) Case.
He lived in Jasper County his entire life, and worked as a farmer. He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Methodist Church of rural Carthage.
He married
Dana Grieb on May 11, 1947 in Carthage. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, George A. Case of Carthage; a daughter Diann Frantz of Alexandria, Va.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, at Weng Funeral Home in Jasper.
Visitation is set for 7-8 p.m. Thursday, June 26 at Mt. Moriah Methodist Church in Carthage.
Burial will be at Park cemetery in Jasper.
Memorial contributions can be made to Mt. Moriah Methodist Church.
Marilyn L. Barrow
Marilyn L. Barrow, 61, Princeton, Iowa, died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Barrow was born May 20, 1942 at Belleview, Wash. to Charles and Hazel (Fugate) Kruse. She moved to Princeton, Iowa in January of 1998.
She was of the Christian faith, and was a member of the Daughters of the Revolution. She married
Gary Barrow July 3, 1981 at Golden City, Mo. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Billy Schnaufer of Lamar and Craig Schnaufer of Fort Stewart, Ga.; three daughters Kathy Whitemyer and Angela Barrow of Jasper, Mo. and Beverly Claypool of Lamar, Mo.; ten grandchildren, a brother, Roy Kruse of Lake City, Fla.; and two sisters, Aletha Brown of Yacima, Wash., and Dorothy Carter of Las Vegas, Nev.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2003 at Nigh cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home.
Judy J. Sneed
Our loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, Judy J. Sneed, Carthage, Mo., went to be with Jesus on Thursday, June 26, 2003. Judy was born on April 19, 1943 in Bremerton, Wash. to John and Grace Bays. Both preceded her in passing.
She married
Richard L. Sneed on Nov. 16, 1963. They have four children and 11 grandchildren. She lived her life loving others and opening her home to friends and family.
She was an employee of McCune-Brooks Hospital for the past 25 years. She was also a member of BYKOTA Church. Judy is survived by her husband of 40 years, Richard Sneed, a daughter, Joni Shivley and husband, Brian, and three sons, Richard E. Sneed and wife, Andi, Bill Sneed and wife, Dawn Marie, and Jim Sneed and wife Nancy.
Her grandchildren were the light of her life, one of whom preceded her in death, Little Meagan. From oldest to youngest, they are Grace, Kayla, Alex, Anthem, Preston, Morgan, Joshua, Meagan, Hope, Avery, and Justin.
Judy is also survived by two brothers, John Bays and wife, Becky, of Carthage, Mo., and Jim Bays and wife, Tasha. Her nieces and nephews are John Anthony, Shannon, Kent, Kendra, Shawn, and Leslie. There are also many brothers and sisters-in-law and other relatives and friends that will miss her.
Visitation will be at Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 28. A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 29, at 4 p.m. at BYKOTA Church.
E. Junior Buster
Services for Junior Buster, who died Sunday, June 22, 2003, were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2003, at the First Christian Church, Carthage. Minister Bob Lyttle and Minister Bob Teegarden officiated. Mary Ann Gremling was the pianist. Sarah Buster, Junior's granddaughter, sang "Shine Jesus Shine." The congregation sang "One Day at a Time," and "How Great Thou Art."
Pallbearers were Joe Buster,Mike Buster, Roger Burkhart, Adam buster, Ron Baker, Phil Wilson, Glenn Cunningham, Kevin Smith, Elgan Snyder, Junior Snyder, Lloyd Kahl, Bill Kahl, Lloyd Thorn and Joe Weng.
Burial was held at Fasken cemetery, located east of Carthage.
Arrangements were under the direction of Weng Funeral Home.
Charlton Anderson
Services for Charlton Anderson, who died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, were held at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 26 at Weng Funeral Chapel in Jasper. Rev. Kenneth Carney officiated. Lois Dodson was the organist. Rayetta Bates, vocalist, sang "How Great Thou Art," "In the Garden," and "I'll Fly Away."
Burial was held in Mitchell cemetery, located east of Jasper.
George Case
Services for George E. Case, who died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, were held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper. Minister Walter Wicklund officiated. Winona Knight was the organist. Case's grandchildren, nieces and nephews sang "Precious memories," "How Great Thou Art," and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Pallbearers were Christopher Frantz, Allen Case, Chad Case, Daniel Osborne, Joshua Thomas, Jeremy Thomas, Jim Gresham, John Larson, Bill Knight, Gale Knight, Cy Knight and Bill Howell. Military rites were given by the Missouri Honors Program.
Burial was held in Park cemetery, Carthage.
James R. Hatfield Sr.
Services for James R. Hatfield Sr, 56, Jasper, who died on Tuesday, June 24, 2003, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 27 at Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage.
Rev. Bob Jones officiated, with song selections including "Hurt" by Johnny Cash, "Go Rest High on that Mountain," by Vince Gill, and "Amazing Grace," on the bagpipes.
Pallbearers included James Hatfield Jr., Clayton Smith Hatfield, David Vance, Larry Graham, Lonnie Knight, O.T. Brewer and Tracy Vance.
Burial was at Water's cemetery in Jasper. Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
Wanda Bentley
WICHITA, Kan. - Wanda Bentley, 84, Wichita, Kan., a former Carthage resident, died on Sunday, June 29, 2003.
Mrs. Bentley was a retired expediter for Boeing.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Bentley, Wichita, Kan., a daughter, Jennifer Summers, Derby, Kan., two sisters, Darlene Napier of the state of Oklahoma and Betty Salisbury, El Dorado, Kan., and two grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Services are at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, at Old Mission Mortuary, Wichita.
Memorials are suggested to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita.
Franklin "Roy" Pennell
LAMAR, Mo. - Franklin "Roy" Pennell, 79, Lamar, died at 5:50 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2003, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, following a short illness.
Mr. Pennell was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Barton County, Mo., to Alfred and Enola Parrish Pennell. He was a retired truck driver from Lamar Concrete Company. He was of the Baptist faith and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Burns, Lamar; three sons, Robert Pennell and Dale Pennell, both of Lamar, Bill Pennell, state of Florida; five brothers, Loyd Pennell, Luther Pennell and Lonnie Pennell, all of Lamar, Louis Pennell, Jasper and Harold "Nick" Pennell, Osceola; four sisters, Edith Pennell, Wilma Pennell, both of Lamar, Rosie Kaderly, Jerico Springs, and Mary Harris, Hardin; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 10 at Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home. Burial will be in Round Prairie cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Opal Pearl Poulson
Services for Opal Pearl Poulson, 83, Carthage, who died July 4, 2003, were held Tuesday at Ulmer Funeral Home. The Rev. Kent Hogan officiated.
Organist Don Poulson Jr., accompanied Sonya Young as she sang, "Amazing Grace" and "Old Rugged Cross."
Pallbearers were Clifford Williams, Shannon Poulson, Roy Williams, Robert Williams, Rick Williams, Bobby Duke.
Burial was in Fullerton cemetery, Carthage.

Franklin "Roy" Pennell
LAMAR, Mo. - Franklin "Roy" Pennell, 79, Lamar, died at 5:50 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2003, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, following a short illness.

Ida Mary Brumback
Ida Mary Brumback, 95, Carthage, died at 2:55 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2003, at Carthage Health & Rehab in Carthage.
Mrs. Brumback was born May 21, 1908, in Seymour, Mo., to Jacob Lorenz and Lena Smith. She was a longtime Carthage resident and owned and operated Brumback Plumbing and Heating in Carthage for several years with her husband, Roy. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carthage for over 50 years.
She married
Roy E. Brumback on March 11, 1925. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1981.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary F. Williams and her husband, Gene C. Williams, of Bolivar; a daughter-in-law, Pat Brumback, Carthage; a sister, Helen Joslen, Riverside, Calif.; two dear friends, Ruth Kenney and Darlene Wilson, both of Carthage; nine grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Ervin E. Brumback and Ronald Dean Brumback; her parents; three sisters and four brothers.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16 at Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Dr. S. Ray Crews will officiated.
Burial will be in Park cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Mary J. Stevenson
LAMAR, Mo. - Mary J. Stevenson, 93, Lamar, died at 11:20 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2003, at Lakeview Healthcare, Lamar, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Stevenson was born Aug. 23, 1909, in Apache, Okla., to Walter and Etta Comer Dodson. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church, Lamar.
She married
Paul Stevenson on Jan. 21, 1933, in Greenfield, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1996.
Survivors include three brothers, Carl Dodson, Ardmore, Okla., Richard Dodson and Kenneth Dodson, both of Elgin, Okla.; a sister, Carol Gieger, Sterling, Okla.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Albert Dodson, Elmer Dodson, Jim Dodson, Homer Dodson, Don Dodson, and a sister, Loretta Armstead.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 16 at Maple Grove cemetery under the direction of Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home, Lamar.
