VELMA E. FRANCKA
Velma Ellen Francka, 81, Blue Springs, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at St. Mary`s Hospital of Blue Springs.
Mrs. Francka was born Jan. 31, 1898, in Pleasant Hope, Mo. She was a licensed practical nurse for Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Mo. She was a Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Francka, and a son, Kenneth Francka.
Her survivors include two sons, Carl L. Francka and Donald R. Francka, both of Blue Springs; a brother, Virgil Thompson, Bolivar, Mo.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn cemetery, Springfield, Mo. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs.
IRENE S. GOODEN
Irene S. Gooden, 74, Independence, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at the Columbia Independence Regional Health Center.
Mrs. Gooden was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Independence and was a life-long area resident. She was a member of the East Alton RLDS congregation, where she sang in the choir.
Her survivors include her husband, Lawrence "Larry" Gooden of the home; three sons, Dean Gooden, Sibley, Warren Gooden, Warrensburg, Mo., and John Gooden, Oak Grove; two brothers, Ray McCarty, Independence, and Bill McCarty, Cross Timbers, Mo.; a sister, Dorothy Love, Independence; and nine grandchildren, Daniel, John, Holly, Emily, Jessica, Nina, Amy, Kirsten and Alexander.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Monday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel.
ZONA E. NICKELL
Zona Elzada Nickell, 88, Lee`s Summit, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at the John Knox Village Care Center.
Mrs. Nickell was born May 10, 1909, in Douglas County and lived more than 50 years in this area before moving to Lee`s Summit in 1996. She had worked for a land title company for many years. She was a member of the Susquehanna Baptist Church. Her husband, Robert Nickell, died in 1994.
Her survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Newcomer`s Noland Road Chapel.
Burial will be in New Salem cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. at the chapel.
The family suggests contributions to the Susquehanna Baptist Church.
FORREST B. WARREN
Forrest B. Warren, 73, Lee`s Summit, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Warren was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Howard County, Mo.
He was a past master of the Masonic Lodge 263 in Lee`s Summit.
He was a Marine Corps paratrooper in the South Pacific during World War II.
He earned a bachelor`s degree from the Finley Engineering College in 1949.
He retired in 1986 from TRW after 35 years of service.
His survivors include his wife of 51 years, Nina Warren of the home; a son, Cuba Warren, Blue Springs; two daughters, Diana Slee, Independence, and Jacque Weeda, Lee`s Summit; a brother, Granville Warren, Ozark, Mo.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Langsford Funeral Home, Lee`s Summit.
Burial will be in the Lee`s Summit cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where Masonic rites will be held.
The family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice.
ERIC E. SIDNEY
Eric Earl Sidney, 24, Bloomington, Ind., died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, in Bloomington.
Mr. Sidney was born July 2, 1973, in Kansas City.
He was a 1991 graduate of Blue Springs High School and a 1997 graduate of Southwest Missouri State University and was a student at the University of Indiana in Bloomington.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Raytown.
His survivors include his mother, Shirlie Sidney, Blue Springs; father and stepmother, John W. and Dollie Sidney, Lee`s Summit; a brother, John W. Sidney, IV, Lee`s Summit; a stepbrother, W. Scott Swain, Washington, D.C.; a sister, Leah M. Sidney, Lenexa, Kan.; a stepsister, StaceyL. Swain, Lee`s Summit; and maternal grandfather, Earl Sturgeon, Parsons, Kan.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, at Speaks Suburban Chapel.
Burial will be in the Lee`s Summit cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday, at the chapel.

EMMA L. JOHNSON
Emma L. Johnson, 86, Glasgow, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at her home.
Mrs. Johnson was born Sept. 2, 1911, in Harmony, Mo.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Francis Johnson, died July 29, 1995.
Her survivors include four sons, James L. Johnson and Dale Johnson, both of Glasgow, Kenneth Johnson, Independence, and Larry Johnson, St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter, Judy Morris, Muskogee, Okla.; and 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary`s Catholic Church.
Interment will be in Washington cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 5 and 7 to 9 tonight at the Friemonth Funeral Service Inc., Glasgow, where the rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.
The family suggests contributions to St. Mary`s School or to the church.
JOY A. KEADLE
Joy Ann Keadle, 54, Independence, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at her home.
Mrs. Keadle was born Oct. 5, 1943, in Tyler, Texas, and had lived in Independence for 10 years.
Her survivors include two children, Jack Keadle and Laura Worley; her parents, William and Betty Allen; two sisters, Jeannette Parker and Betty Allen; two brothers, William J. Allen Jr., and Bob Allen; and five grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.
JAMES M. "JIM" PARDEE
James M. "Jim" Pardee, 70, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998.
Mr. Pardee was born Jan. 30, 1927, in Kansas City and had lived in Independence most of his life.
He was a security guard. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by a son, Herbert William Pardee in 1983.
His survivors include his wife, Ann Pardee of the home; a son, Jim Pardee, three daughters, Gail Holland, Melanie House and Sherry Hoskins, all of Independence; a brother, Herbert Pardee, Oak Grove; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.
LOUIS N. "DEAN" WHITEHEAD
Louis N. "Dean" Whitehead, 76, Independence, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at Columbia Independence Regional Health Center.
Mr. Whitehead was born in Logan, Iowa, and lived in Warrensburg, Mo., before moving to Independence.
He was a school counselor for the Kansas City School District, retiring in 1983. He attended Graceland College, University of Iowa, University of Wyoming, Central Missouri State University, University of Colorado, University of Missouri-Kansas City and the University of Missouri-Columbia.
He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he had been on the Standing High Council for 19 years. He had also been a pastor at the Eden Heights, Englewood and Enoch Hills congregations.
He was presently an evangelist patriarch and attended the Cornerstone congregation.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
His survivors include his wife, Elma "Deanie" Whitehead of the home; one daughter, Vicky Cain, Kansas City; one brother, Harold Eldon Whitehead, Independence; and four grandchildren, Sara Cain, Emily Cain, Bradley Cain and Bethany Cain, all of Kansas City.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. Entombment will be in the Mound Grove cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the RLDS Cornerstone Church building fund.
