JENNIFER M. COX

Jennifer Michelle Cox, 13, Independence, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997.

Jennifer was born March 19, 1984, in Kansas City. She was a student at Bridge Junior High School.

Her survivors include her parents, Kenneth and Kathy Cox of the home; a half sister, Tyetta A. Pennington, Kansas City; paternal grandparents, Marjorie Cox and Gerald Cox of Independence; maternal grandparents, George and Grace Sheppard, Kansas City; and paternal great-grandmother, Ruby LaGore, Hale, Mo.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Raytown, 6224 Blue Ridge Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the church.

NAOMA E. DENISON

Naoma Elizabeth Overton Denison, 97, Lee`s Summit, formerly of Independence, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997, at the John Knox Village Care Center in Lee`s Summit. Mrs. Denison had lived in Independence for 60 years before moving to Lee's Summit two years ago. She had also lived in California. She was a member of the First Christian Church and a former member of the Forest Hill Christian Church in San Francisco. She was a former a member of Casimir Chapter 252 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Golden Gate Masonic Temple. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Doral Lee Denison.

Her survivors include nieces and nephews, Edward P. Overton, Tampa, Fla., Laurie Wolfgang-Haynes and R. Brian Wolfgang, both of Independence, Valerie M. Jarrett, Raytown, H. Alan Wolfgang, Chicago, Leesa Wolfgang-Brown, Concord, Mass., Helen Higgins, Olathe, Kan., and Delbert Overton.

Graveside services were Oct. 21 at Forest Hill cemetery, Kansas City.

ALBERT W.L. MOORE SR.

Albert Wilson Luce Moore Sr., 87, Liberty, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at Ashton Court Nursing Center.

Mr. Moore was born Sept. 1, 1910, in Ray County, Mo., and lived in the Independence area most of his life. He had lived in Liberty for one month. He was an insurance agent for the Prudential Insurance Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1974. He attended the First Christian Church of Independence. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Moore in 1946.

His survivors include his wife, Faith MarieMoore, and a son, Albert W.L. Moore Jr., both of Independence; a daughter, Marticia Lou Madory, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; a brother, Arthur E. Moore, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; a sister, Margaret Moore, Rancho Cordova, Calif.; and two grandsons.

Private burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Noland Road Chapel.

MAPLE S. OWEN

Maple S. Owen, 84, Liberty, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997, at the Ashton Cart Care Center.

Mrs. Owen was born Aug. 18, 1913, in Cross Timbers, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne C. Owen, and a great-granddaughter, Sherry Dover.

Her survivors include a son, Danny Owen; a daughter, Wilma Stotts; a sister, Osie Walker; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Brooking cemetery, Raytown. The family suggests contributions to the Parkinson`s Society, 7808 Foster, Overland Park, Kan. 66204.

J. ANDREW SLOAN

J. Andrew Sloan, 37, Independence, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mr. Sloan was born on March 18, 1960, in Independence, and was a lifelong Independence resident. He had been a printer for the Center Stake of the RLDS Church. He served as a deacon in the New Walnut Park RLDS congregation. He was preceded in death by his father, Delmar Sloan in 1971.

His survivors include his mother, Marjorie Drown, Independence; and two brothers, Jared Sloan, Independence, and Charles Sloan, North Kansas City.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Gift of Hope Hospice Fund.

WALTER T. STEVENSON SR.

Walter T. Stevenson Sr., 78, Capaldo, Kan., formerly of Independence, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, at Mount Carmel Medical Center, Pittsburg, Kan.

Mr. Stevenson was born July 12, 1919, in Kansas City, and lived in Independence before moving to Capaldo in 1973. He was a graduate of Northeast High School, Kansas City, and received a bachelor`s degree in vocational education, a master`s degree in education, and an education specialist degree, all from Pittsburg State University. He worked in the electronics industry and had taught vocational electronics in the Kansas City (Kan.) area Vocational Technical School and PSU. He owned and operated an electronic specialty shop in Capaldo for 18 years. He was a member of the Pittsburg RLDS congregation, Mensa International and was listed in the Mension Newsletter. He was an Army veteran, serving from 1937 to 1940, and a Navy veteran, serving from 1944 to 1945. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Fox Stevenson in 1970.

His survivors include his wife, Shirley Winters Stevenson of the home; four sons, Walter T. Stevenson Jr., Topeka, Arthur Stevenson, Raytown, Phillip Stevenson, Headrick, Okla., and John Stevenson, Gardner, Kan.; two daughters, Beth Blanton, Hillsboro, Mo., and Susan Sage, Independence; a stepson, Roger Winters, Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Forrest T. Stevenson, Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8 tonight at the Fiskel Funeral Home, Frontenac, Kan. The family suggests contributions to the Mount Carmel Cancer Center, and may be left at, or sent to the funeral home, 230 E. McKay, Frontenac, Kan. 66763.

CHESTER G. TAYLOR

Chester George Taylor, 78, Independence, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at the Good Samaritan Center in Olathe, Kan.

Mr. Taylor was born July 1, 1919, in Blue Springs. He worked for Sears & Roebuck for 30 years, retiring in 1982. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion, where he had served as chaplain. He had been in the Civil Air Patrol, serving as information officer, and holding the rank of 1st lieutenant. He was a member and ordained deacon in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Taylor.

His survivors include a son, Robert Taylor, and a daughter, Kathy Hammond, both of Olathe; a brother, Forest Taylor, Washington; nine grandchildren, Jason Taylor, Joe Taylor, Jill Taylor, Christopher Taylor, Julie Bauer, Geordan Hammond, Sulena Hammond, Loren Hammond and Jayne Hammond; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. Burial will be in Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Good Samaritan Center.

ROBERT W. TSCHIRHART

Robert W. Tschihart, 76, Blue Springs, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997, at Monterey Park Nursing Home.

Mr. Tschihart was born in Independence. He was a carpenter superintendent for Schweiger Construction Co. for 47 years, retiring in 1985, and a member of Carpenters Union Local 61. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of St. John LaLande Church, Blue Springs, and a Eucharistic minister and usher.

His survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ileen E. Tschihart of the home; two daughters, Pamela Foster, Independence, and Denise Bentley, Blue Springs; two brothers, John Tschirhart, Gainesville, Fla., and Bernard Tschirhart, Shawnee, Kan.; three sisters, Margaret Sulzen, Shawnee Mission, Kan., and Justina Miller and Dorothy Ziegler, both of Belton, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Michelle Street, Robert Bentley III and Erica Bentley.

Services were Monday at the Muehlebach Funeral Home, Kansas City. Burial was in Mount Olivet cemetery, Raytown.

GEORGE R. WEBB

George Roger Webb, 85, Lee`s Summit, formerly of Independence, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, at the John Knox Village Care Center in Lee`s Summit.

Mr. Webb was born in Bates City, and lived most of his life in Independence. He was an auto mechanic for Interstate Bakery for 32 years, retiring in 1973. He was an elder in the RLDS Second Church congregation, and a member of Independence Masonic Lodge 76 and was a Shriner. He was preceded in death by a son, Harry Webb in 1995.

His survivors include his wife, Virgie M. Webb of John Knox; four sons, Paul Turnbow, Warsaw, Mo., Charles Webb, Bates City, George P. Webb, Kansas City, and Jack Webb, Independence; 18 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. Burial will be in Bates City cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Diabetes Association.

WILBUR E. WHITESIDE

Wilbur E. Whiteside, 80, Independence, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation in Smithville, Mo.

Mr. Whiteside was born in Wichita, Kan., and had lived in this area for 60 years. He was a self-employed paper hanger, retiring in 1980. He was an Army veteran, a Mason and a member of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Whiteside in 1974.

His survivors include two sons, Terry Whiteside, Independence, and Tim Whiteside, Texas; a sister, Vernadeen Willix, Long Beach, Calif.; a friend, Sheila Arnold, Kansas City; grandson, Byron Whiteside, Independence; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 6 p.m. Thursday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel.

ANASTASIA E. WITBOLSFEUGEN

Anastasia Elizabeth WitbolsFeugen, 18, Independence, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, in Kansas City.

Anastasia was born July 14, 1979, in Kansas City. She attended Red Bridge Elementary School and Center Junior High. She had been a Girl Scout and played the clarinet. She had attended The First Covenant Church of Kansas City and the College Park RLDS Church of Independence. At Martin Luther King Middle School, she was a member of the National Junior Honor Society and participated in Math Counts competition and National Academic League. She was a 1997 graduate of Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, and while a senior, she was reporter-historian of the Junior Classical League and participated in the state Latin competitions. She had been enrolled at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She worked at the KCPT Store of Knowledge and had previously worked at AMC Theaters. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frederic William Jung, Hugo Christiaan WitbolsFeugen and Irene Elizabeth Schaeneweis Jung, and her step grandfather, Clyde Milton Marshall Jr.

Her survivors include her father and stepmother, Robert WitbolsFeugen and Diane Marshall of the home; her mother and stepfather, Elizabeth and Richard Bart Owens, Raymore, Mo.; three sisters, Francesca of Independence, Katrientje and Teminka, both of Raymore; a half sister, Emma of Independence; two stepsisters, Anna Garriock, Kansas City, and Dr.Lisa Goin, St. Joseph, Mo.; a stepbrother, John Bart Owens, Smithville, Mo.; paternal grandmother, Melanie WitbolsFeugen, Hinsdale, Ill.; step grandmothers, Ila Marshall, Independence, and Norma Owens, Camden Point, Mo.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mount Moriah &Freeman; Funeral Home, Kansas City. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Latin Club at Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, 2111 Woodland, Kansas City, Mo. 64108.

ONA F. BRICKEY

Ona Fay Brown Brickey, 64, Lone Jack, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997, at the home of her daughter in Greenwood, Mo.

Mrs. Brickey was born May 27, 1933, in Greenwood, Mo., and had lived in Lone Jack since 1950. She recently returned to Greenwood. She was a member of the World Wide Church of God in Kansas City. She played the guitar, and when she was younger, she and her twin, who played the mandolin and were known as the Brown Twins, played locally at churches, schools and pie suppers. In their early teens they sang and played on KIMO in Independence, and later entertained on WHB on the Cowtown Jamboree. She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Brickley II on March 14, 1986.

Her survivors include seven children, Shirleen Herrick, Windsor, Mo., Lanora Campbell, Springfield, Mo., Shannon Thomas, Danville, Ind., John S. Brickey III, Walter Brickey, Mounds, Okla., Marilyn Sturgeon, Greenwood, and Willis Keith Brickey, Pleasant Hill, Mo.; three brothers, Eugene Brown and Merle Keith Brown, both of Lone Jack, and Kenion R. Brown, Kingsville, Mo.; two sisters, Lanora McKay, Holden, Mo., and her twin sister, Nona May Van Os, Hannibal, Mo.; 22 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. Burial will be in Brown cemetery, Oak Grove. Friends may call from 6 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
