MARTHA A. JOHNSON
Martha Almeda Johnson, 84, Cole Camp, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct.15, 1997, at Columbia Independence Regional Health Center.
Mrs. Johnson wasborn Dec. 25, 1912, in Redland, Okla. She was a housewife and a member of Ozark Tabernacle Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack E. Johnson, on May 3, 1997, by one son, Monroe, one sister and three brothers.
Her survivors include three sons, Carl T. Johnson, Cole Camp, and Edward L. Johnson andWillard Johnson, both of Independence; eight daughters, Gracie Johnson, Wanda Johnson, and Mildred Warrix, all of Urbana, Mo., Phyllis Boutross and Deanna Tiemey, both of Independence, Joyce Johnson, Cole Camp, Brenda Lindstrom, Riley, Kan., and Debra Wright, Olathe, Kan.; one sister, Rebecca Hamby, Sedalia, Mo.;two brothers, William Moore, Gravois Mills, Mo., and Oscar Moore, Kansas City;36 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, at the Fox Funerl Home in Cole Camp. Burial will be in Memorial cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
LOIS L. KEMPLE
Lois L. Kemple, 74, formerly of Oak Grove, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997, at Persian Memorial Hospital in Brookfield, Mo.
Mrs. Kemple was born in Macon County, Mo., and lived in Oak Grove for many years before moving to Marcelilne, Mo., 17 years ago. She worked as a hairdresser and restaurant owner in Oak Grove and was a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church.
Her survivors include her husband, Thomas Kemple, of the home; one step-son, Thomas E. Kemple of Redmond, Wash.; one sister, Virginia Manley of Oregon; 10 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grovewith burial in the Oak Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the chapel.
GERALD L. KITCHEN
Gerald Lee Kitchen, 56, died Friday, Oct. 17, 1997, at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City.
Mr. Kitchen was born Nov. 19, 1940, in Kansas City, and was a lifelong resident of Independence. He was a truck driver.
His survivors include one brother, Ronald Kitchen, Independence, and one sister, Carolyn Williams, Independence.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, at the George C. Carson and Sons Independence chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the chapel.
PALMER C. PHILLIPS
Palmer C. Phillips, 87, Independence, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997 at his home.
Mr. Phillips was born Nov. 20, 1909 in Dochester, Mass. and lived most of his life in Independence. He worked as a journeyman layout inspector for Ford Motor Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of the RLDS Stone Church.
His survivors include a son, Robert C. Phillips, Livingston, Texas; a daughter Donna G. Gallardo, Tacoma, Wash.; three sisters, Viola Maitland, Independence; EvelynHysell, Overland Park, Kan.; and Virginia Bryce, Merritt Island, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Monday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Graveside services are at 2 p.m., Monday at Rose Hill cemetery, Lamoni, Iowa. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday at thechapel.
LELIA L. WALLER
Lelia L. Waller, 90, Blue Springs, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997, at the Monterey Park nursing home.
Mrs. Waller was born Aug. 3, 1907, in Hutchinson, Kan. She was a homemaker and member of the Eastgate Christian Church in Independence, where she lived most of her life. She waspreceded in death by her husband Harvey E. Waller, in 1975.
Her survivors include two sons, Cecil Waller, Wheatland, Mo., and Delbert Waller, Independence; one daughter, V. Jean Schmitz, Raytown; three sisters, Lucille Freeman, Wichita, Kan., Ester Smith and Jeannie Bass, both of Hutchinson, Kan.; three brothers, Kenneth Chitwood, Henderson, Colo., Vernon Chitwood, Commerce City, Colo., and Warren Snyder, Audubon, Iowa; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Monday, at the George C. Carson and Sons Independence chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery in Kansas City. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday, at the chapel.
WANDA E. WILLIAMS
Wanda E. Williams, 72, Clinton, Mi., died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997, at Macomb Hospital Center in Warren, Mich. Mrs. Williams was born Jan. 21, 1925, in Detroit. She worked for the ChryslerCorp. for 25 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, enjoyed needlework, the piano and crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delma O. Williams, in 1996.
Her survivors include one daughter, Karen F. Reinke, Huntington Woods, Mi.; one brother, Elwood E. Smith, of Independence; one sister, Helen Crooker, of Oak Grove; two grandchildren, Christopher and Patrick; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m., Monday, in Royal Oak, Mi. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, and 2 to 9 p.m., Sunday. Interment will be in Oakview cemetery in Royal Oak, Mi.
SYLVAN T. WILSON, III
Sylvan T. "Tom" Wilson, III, 71, Kansas City, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997, at his home. Mr. Wilson was born Jan. 17, 1926, in Malta Bend, Mo. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. In 1948, he joined Trans World Airlines as a flight engineer. He retired, as a captain, in 186. He owned and operated the Raytown Hobby Shop from 1961-1965. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Kansas City hangar of the "Quiet Birdmen." He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn L. Wilson, in 1979.
His survivors include his wife, PatriciaS. Wilson; one sister, Louise Blosser, Elizabeth, Colo.; four sons, Tom Wilson, IV, Mike Wilson, Steve Wilson, and Jerry Wilson; three daughters, Bunny Tuttle, Diane Kennedy, and Janice Schwartz; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., today, at Floral Hills Chapel.
TRENTON S. BARKER
Trenton Scott Barker, infant son of Scott E. and Laura L. Barker, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997.
Trenton was born May 28, 1997, in Independence. His survivors include his parents and his sister, Darian D. Barker, all of Grain Valley.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, at D.W. Necomer`s Sons Floral Hills Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m., at the chapel.
LUCY L. FEEBACK
Lucy Lea Feeback, 88, Latour, Mo., died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997, at Cass Medical Center in Harrisonville, Mo.
Mrs. Feeback was born July 21, 1909, near Latour, Mo. She worked in the comptroller department, then later as a switchboard operator, at the General Motors Leeds Plant in Kansas City until she retired in 1971. She was a member of the Latour Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah Mae Wheat, and a brother, Lowell French.
Her survivors include her husband, Forest Feeback, of the home; one daughter, Joyce Aszmus Herman, Lee`s Summit; two step-sons, L.D. Feeback and Don Feeback, both of Garden City, Mo.; a step-daughter, Bonnie Hon, Harrisonville; one granddaughter, Janet Herman Franklin; two great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and a niece

KIRK M. LYONS
Kirk Michael Lyons, 34, Independence, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997, at his home.
Mr. Lyons was born April 13, 1963, in Independence. He was an Eagle Scout and a U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Lyons, in 1995.
His survivors include his father, David Lyons, Odessa, Mo.; one brother, David Lyons, Jr., Independence; two sisters, Lara Allen, Kansas City, and Kelli Hurley, Grandview; and a daughter, Kathryn Bennett Shaw Lyons, Independence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1400 W. Sheley Road, Independence. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, at the D.W. Necomer`s Sons Floral Hills Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to defray funeral expenses.
MURREL I. MART
Murrel I. Mart, 70, Lincoln, Mo., died Thursday, Dec.18, 1997, at the Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Mo.
He was born on Aug. 5, 1927, near Humansville, Mo. He later moved to Independence. He worked for Union Wire Rope in Kansas City for 31 years, retiring in 1986. In 1988, he and his wife, Agnes, moved back to Lincoln, Mo.
His survivors include his wife, Agnes, of the home; five sons, Bruce Mart and Stephen Mart, both of Independence, Cris Mart, Lee`s Summit, Murrel Mart, Blue Springs, and Scott Mart, Holden, Mo.; two brothers, Roy Mart, Grain Valley, and Marvin Mart, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; five sisters, Elsie Rosicka and Ethel Coffin, both of Tulsa, Okla., Mildred Tally, Little Rock, Ark., Meta Darringer, Humansville, Mo., and OpalZucca, Independence; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln, Mo. Friends and family may call from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday. Cremation.
LETA B. MORIARTY
Leta B. Moriarty, 92, Independence, died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997, at Rosewood Health Center.
Miss Moriarty was born Feb. 26, 1905, in Crestline, Kan. She was baptized in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Aug. 22, 1917.
Her family moved to Independence in 1923. She graduated from Kansas City Junior College in June 1925, then studied at Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg. She later studied by correspondence with the University of Kansas.
Miss Moriarty assisted Richard J. Lambert, "Saints Herald" managing editor, at the General Conference press table in 1926. She later worked at the Herald Publishing House in Independence, first as secretary, then as assistant editor. She also wrote for the Stepping Stones, Zion`s Hope, and Vision.
She also worked as a legal secretary in Kansas City, then returned to church work as a secretary and public relations assistant at the RLDS Auditorium. She retired from that position in 1972.
Miss Moriarty had been a member of the RLDS Stone Church congregation since 1926, where she sang in the choir. She also sang in the Messiah Choir for 31 years and was a member of the church`s first Radio Choir. She taught Sunday school and was active with the Girl Scout movement from 1933 to 1935. She was also a piano teacher in Independence.
Her survivors include her sister-in-law, Jerry Moriarty, Spokane, Wash.; a niece, Barbara Anderson, Pleasant View, Tenn.; a nephew, Bruce Moriarty, Spokane, Wash.; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m, Monday, at Speaks Midtown Chapel in Independence. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday, at the chapel.
