LEE SUTTON
Lee Sutton, 79, Blue Springs, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, at St. Mary`s Hospital of Blue Springs.
Mr. Suttonwas born March 20, 1918, in Clark, S.D. He later lived in Burlington, Colo., where he was owner and operator of Hoof and Horn Restaurant. He moved to the Blue Springs area in 1976.
He worked for the Blue Springs School District from 1976 to 1984 when he retired. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Dollie Sutton, in 1997.
His survivors include a son, Duane Lee Sutton, Pleasant Hill, Mo.; a daughter, Barbara J. Mead, Blue Springs; a brother, Lyle Sutton, Vinita Okla.; a sister, Maxine Hinsch, Ilse, Minn.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, at Mt. Moriah and Freeman Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Moriah cemetery.
SHIRLEY A. CRUSE WALTER
Shirley A. Cruse Walter, 45, Blue Springs, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 1997, at her home.
Mrs. Walter was born April 12, 1952, in St. Louis. She had lived in Ludlow, Mo., before moving to the greater Kansas City area 30 years ago. For 10 years she worked as a sales representative for The Jones Store in Independence. She was a member of the River Boulevard Baptist Church.
Her survivors include her husband, Brad H. Walter of the home; two sons, Brandon H. Walter and Andrew J. Walter, both of the home; a daughter, Lori Moon, Blue Springs; a brother, John W. Cruse, Wheeling, Mo.; three sisters, Janice T. Michael, Overland Park, Kan., Karen Sue Howell, Lee`s Summit, and Dixie L. Cruse, Hyattsville, Md.; and two grandsons.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills East cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Independence Community Gift of Hope Hospice fund.
ROYAL E. DOSS
Royal Eldred Doss, 88, Independence, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at Columbia Independence Regional Health Center. Mr. Doss was born Dec. 29, 1909, in King, Ark., and lived in California before moving to Independence in 1972. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in southern California for 30 years, retiring in 1972. He attended A&M; College in Magnolia, Ark., and was an Army veteran of World War II. He served as a chaplain at the Resthaven Retirement Home for 23 years, was an evangelist in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and was a member of the Pleasant Heights RLDS congregation. He was also a member of the American Legion.
His survivors include his wife, Mildred Doss of the home; one son, Daniel Doss, Santa Fe, N.M.; two sisters, Opal Ward, Bethesda, Md., and Cleo Bassham, Gillham, Ark.; and one grandson, Sean Curtis.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the RLDS Temple Endowment Fund.
BETTY J. GARTON
Betty Jean Garton, 75, Fort Myers, Fla., died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998.
Mrs. Garton was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin Garton in 1991, and a daughter, Peggy Welsch in 1978.
Her survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas E. and Janet Garton, Fort Myers; three grandchildren, Kimberly E. Powers, Kelly J. Lowman and Brian T. Welsch; and two great-grandchildren, Quentin Powers and Nathan Powers.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 12:45 p.m. Thursday at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs.
EDITH HICKS
Edith Hicks, 94, Independence, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at the Gardner Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Hicks was born Dec. 23, 1903, in Igo, Mo., and had lived in Independence for 50 years. She had been a seamstress for Donnelly Garment Co., and was a charter member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church. Her husband, Herman Orvel Hicks, died in 1990.
Her survivors include one daughter, Mary Ellen Odell, and one grandson, David Odell, both of Independence; four brothers, Clarence Sallee, Kelley Sallee, Jim Sallee and Glesco Sallee, and two sisters, Clella Sallee and Mae Sallee, all of southern Missouri.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the church.
LEAH V. KATSANTONESS
Leah Virginia Katsantoness, 83, Overland Park, Kan., died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at St. Luke`s Hospital.
Mrs. Katsantoness was born Nov. 11, 1914, in Kansas City, Kan., and lived in Kansas City, Clinton and Warsaw in Missouri before moving to Overland Park. She owned restaurants in the areas in which she lived.
Her survivors include two sons, Donald L. Huffman and Antonie L. Katsantoness Jr., both of Overland Park; one daughter, Sharon Patricia Kerr, Independence; one brother, Richard E. White, North Little Rock, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at Park Lawn Funeral Home, Kansas City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Harvester`s Food Bank.
BARBARA "JEAN" McCORMICK
Barbara "Jean" McCormick, 60, Buckner, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998.
Mrs. McCormick was born in Chelyan, W.Va., and lived in Marmet, W.Va., and the Charleston, W.Va., area before moving to Buckner in 1964. She was an accountant for Ronson Manufacturing in Independence. She was a 1955 graduate of East Bank High School, Marmet, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Buckner, where she served as Sunday schoolchildren`s division director and church treasurer.
Her survivors include her husband of 40 years, Donald R. McCormick; two sons, Mike McCormick, Leawood, Kan., and Randy McCormick, Lee`s Summit; one brother, Charles Williams, Marmet;two sisters, Marilyn "Marly" Webb and Judy Buttress, both of Buckner; four grandsons, Chris, Tyler, Nathan and Keegan; and many nephews and nieces.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Buckner cemetery.Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the church. The family suggests contributions to the church or St. Mary`s Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brown Funeral Home, Buckner.
FRANCES J. McLELLAN
Frances JoAnn McLellan, 53, Independence, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at Columbia Independence Regional Health Center.
Mrs. McLellan was born Aug. 29, 1944, in Hogansville, Ga., and lived in Pensacola, Fla., from 1969 until moving to Independence in 1981. She was a cook for the CIRHC Dietary Department from 1981 to 1995. She was a member of the Buckner Restoration Branch.
Her survivors include one son, Anthony Shane McLellan, Independence; three sisters, Yvonne Anderson and Joyce Wiggins, both of Hogansville, Ga., and Wanda Jones, Grantville, Ga.; one brother, Wendall Wiggins, Columbus, Ga.; two grandchildren, Michael Shane McLellan and Courtney Elisabeth McLellan, both of Independence; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Restoration Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, South Avenue and Delaware Street; cremation. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the family.
DAVID RAMEL
David Ramel, 27, Independence, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Ramel was born July 29, 1970, in Kansas City. He was apress assistant for J-2 Printing, and an Army veteran. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Buckmasters, Promise Keepers and the First Baptist Church of Independence.
His survivors include his mother, Joyce Ramel of the home; his father and stepmother, Larry and Sandra Ramel, Independence; two brothers, Rick Ramel, Kimberling City, Mo., and Bill Prentiss, Independence; a half sister, Melony Ramel, and his paternal grandmother, Edith Ramel, both of Independence; a stepson, Dylan Houston; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Blue Springs Chapel. Burial will be in Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the David S. Ramel Memorial Fund.
LAWRENCE J. REEVES
Lawrence J. Reeves, 51, Kansas City, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at Baptist Medical Center.
Mr. Reeves was born Sept. 9, 1946, in Kansas City. He was a lifetime member of the Amateur Radio Relay League, president of the Quarter Century Wireless Association, and a member of the Kansas City DX Club. He attended Grandview United Methodist Church. His survivors include his wife, Marsha M. Reeves of the home; two sons, GlenKroll and Alan Reeves, both of Grandview; two daughters, Jennifer Cook, Belton, Mo., and Cheryl Reeves Green, Independence; his mother, Alberta Travers, Independence; a foster daughter, Michelle Davis, Belton; seven grandchildren; and three foster grandchildren.

MARC A. WARREN
Marc Alan Warren, 35, Buckner, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, in Ray County, Mo.
Mr. Warren was born Feb. 13, 1962, in Carlisle, Pa.
His survivors include his wife, Daun Warren, one son, Miles Warren, and two daughters, Chelsea Warren and Jessica Warren, all of the home; his mother, Julia Ann Warren; two brothers, Terry Warren and Lynn Warren; and two sisters, Pam Lightskey and Mary Jenkins.
Graveside services are 1 p.m. today at Mount Washington cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel.
LULA ADAMS
Lula Odom Adams, 79, Independence, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at her home.
Mrs. Adams was born June 1, 1918, in McKenzie, Ala. She was a graduate of Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa, and a member of the East Alton RLDS congregation. Her husband, Loyd Ray Adams, died in 1988.
Her survivors include two sons, Ray Adams, Overland Park, Kan., and Jim Adams, Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Judy Kramer, Independence, and Charlene Adams Frater, Harrisburg, Pa.; a sister, Patsy Helton, Cantonment, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at Mound Grove cemetery. Memorial services will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the RLDS Temple Endowment Fund or Graceland College.
