Donald Maurice Mackie
(December 12, 1933 - November 21, 2014)
Our family mourns the loss and rejoices in the knowledge that Don M Mackie went home to be with the Lord on November 21, 2014 after a long and courageous struggle.
He was born in Little Rock, AR to Fonta (Crunk) and Arthur Mackie on December 12, 1933. He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Arthur.
Don was an "army brat" and lived in many different states. When he was 13, his family traveled to Japan with the first occupying forces after WWII. There were no schools yet, so his father enrolled him in his first diesel mechanics class when other boys were learning to put a chain on their bicycle. He became an avid tennis player and long bow competitor until he lost the sight in his left eye making a frog gig.
He graduated from high school in Alexandria, VA and attended some college.
Don moved to Eureka Springs, AR in the late 1950's and owned the Esso Gas Station located at the junction of Hwy 62/Hwy 23.
On a cold December night in 1962, Don had a catastrophic accident during the construction of the Beaver Dam. The Lord heard his cry-Romans 10:10-"Call on the name of the Lord and you shall be saved". The doctors told his family he would not make it through the night, however God had plans for him and he walked out of the hospital 7 days later.
Don worked in heavy construction and pipelines which allowed him to travel all over the country, Mexico and Canada.
He was Equipment Superintendent on the Alaska Pipeline from 1975-1978, and orchestrated the largest airlift at that time of 1000's of tons of heavy equipment in the Thompson Pass section.
Don owned and operated Don's Machine Shop in Big Spring, TX for many years before moving back to Eureka Springs in the late 1980's.
He owned and operated Golden Precision Machine in Eagle Rock MO from 1988 to the present. He also owned and operated White Dove Manor Bed and Breakfast in Eureka Springs, AR from 1992-2008.
Don was very knowledgeable and respected in the marine business and taught engine rebuilding classes to other marine technicians in Florida and Tulsa, OK over the years.
The last 30 years of his life he was known as a "Pastor to Pastors" and supported and uplifted others work. He traveled frequently to preach and teach the Word of God.
Don married
his loving wife, Jane, on June 14, 1999, who survives. He has one son, Cabel Mackie and his wife Cindy of Big Spring, TX; one step-son, Josh Tennis and his wife SaraJane and grandson Jackson, of Holiday Island, AR and extended family and friends.

Billy "Bill" Arthur Norman
(August 19, 1929 - December 2, 2014)
Billy “Bill” Arthur Norman, 85, died December 2, 2014. He was born August 19, 1929, to Arthur Gray Norman and Greta Mae Smith in Pomona California. He is preceded in death by two amazing women: his beloved Juanita Marcine Morgan Norman, 1989; sweet Teresa Ortiz, 1992, and his precious grandson, Jared William Lewis.
Even though his life started from humble beginnings, Bill lived a full and happy life. Bill married
Marcine during their senior year of high school in 1947. They quickly started adding to their family with two children being born over the next two years. Bill was a devoted husband and father.
Bill had an easy smile and quick wit, immediately making those around him laugh. His love of cars was always in the conversation; what was he driving, what he had his eye on and what the next adventure was. Even in his last years traveling with his daughter, he could tell you every make and model he saw and was not happy when he finally had to give up his keys and his car had to be sold.
Bill put his smile and charisma to work and went on to hold several occupations including a milkman, insurance salesman, employee at Bendix Corp, and a Real Estate Broker. He was also very proud to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and would serve in many positions within the church including High Priest group leader in Blue Springs, Missouri and the Bishop in Odessa, Missouri.
During his life he would serve two missions for the church as well. Bill and Marcine served eighteen months in the New Zealand Christchurch mission. Later he also served with second wife Teresa in the Dominican Republic Santiago Mission. After the loss of Teresa, he took care of his sister and later his mother, until they both passed away. He continued to stay active in the church, serving in the Arizona Temple as a volunteer for many years, visiting church members and attending meetings in Sun City, Arizona where he had retired.
As his health deteriorated, his daughter moved him to Missouri to be closer to family. He continued to smile and touch many lives in Peachtree Assisted living, Holly House, and Brighten Ridge.
Bill is survived by his son, William Thomas Norman (Deanna Gordon Norman) of North Kansas City; daughter, Sharon Marie Norman Lewis (Samuel W. Lewis) of Shell Knob, Missouri; grandchildren: Jamie Norman Jensen, Shelley Norman, Zachary Norman, Sean Lewis, Seth Lewis and eight great-grandchildren.
