Charles "Leon" Henderson

Charles Leon Henderson, age 85 of Seligman, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 7, 2011, at Cassville Health Care and Rehabilitation.
He was born in Rocky Comfort, Missouri, July 30, 1926, the son of James Henry and Nannie May (Cox) Henderson. He was united in marriage to Geneva Mahurin on August 26, 1944, and to this union two children were born, Charles and Leta.
Leon is survived by a son, Charles Henderson and his wife, Annette of Seligman; a daughter, Leta Lloyd and her husband, Efton of Rogers, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Kristy Henderson, Chuck Henderson and his wife Ruth, Justin Lloyd and his wife, Sarah and Mason Lloyd and his wife, Alicia; five great grandchildren, Jessica, Charlie, Kelsea, Korbin and Carson and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruby.
Leon received his education at Rocky Comfort where he grew up. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. Following his discharge, he returned home where he drove a truck most of his life. He delivered propane to customers all through out Barry County. He was a member of Seligman First Baptist Church, Pythagoras Lodge # 383, Cassville and American Legion Post # 118 of Cassville.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 9, 2011, in Chitwood cemetery, Wheaton, Missouri, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Reverend Bob Scott will conduct the services.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, in Fohn Funeral Home.

Gary Wayne Kirk

Gary Wayne Kirk, age 65, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011, in his home.
He was born December 10, 1945, in Midway, Indiana, the son of Samuel William and Elsie (VanWinkle) Kirk, who preceded him in death.
On November 8, 1969, he was united in marriage to Betty Byers and to this union two children were born. Surviving are his two children, Brian Kirk and his wife, Kristi of Cassville, Missouri and Kimberly Clark and her husband, Joe of Columbia, Illinois; three brothers, Dewey Kirk and his wife, Connie of Jasper, Indiana, Robert Kirk and his wife, Karen of Columbia, Illinois and Terry Kirk and his wife, Yvette of Crestview, Florida and four grandchildren, Garrett Kirk, Gabe Kirk, Hunter Clark and Cail Clark.
Gary received his education in Chrisney, Indiana, where he graduated from high school. During the Vietnam War he served in the United States Army and then the Missouri National Guard. For seventeen years Gary resided in Missouri and Illinois, traveling back and forth spending quality time with his family. He was employed for Chrysler in the Maintenance Department, retiring November 30, 2001. Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, going to car shows and truck pulls with his pulling truck.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 16, 2011, in Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran cemetery, Columbia, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, in Lawlor Funeral Home in Columbia.

William "Bill" Donald Willard
(March 14, 1933 - November 14, 2011)
William Donald Willard, 78, beloved father, husband, and avid golfer passed away Monday, November 14, 2011, in Springfield, Missouri, after a brave battle with cancer.
Bill was born March 14, 1933, in Cherokee, Kansas, to Ted and Gertrude Willard. He had six siblings, three brothers and three sisters, who preceded him in death, as well as, his parents. He was raised and educated in Pittsburg, Kansas, where he met and married
Bonnie Jean Pilkenton. He was a Korean War Veteran and had a long, celebrated career as an agent for the Prudential Insurance Company for thirty-two years. A kind man and a gentle soul, Bill loved the Ozark region, having settled here after retiring from Columbus, Kansas. He loved to fish, boat, garden, and putter around on the greens, never caring much for the final score of the game. In his view, it was always how you played the game that mattered. In that light, Bill Willard was a champion in all aspects of life. He valued honesty and an unflagging trust in God. Bill was a member of the All Faith United Methodist Church in Eagle Rock, Missouri. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Columbus, Kansas and a Shriner.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie, of Golden, Missouri and his three sons, William G. Willard and his wife Teresa of Springdale, Arkansas, Bradley Willard and his fiancée Megan Gurera of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Christopher Willard of Breckenridge, Colorado; he has two granddaughters, three grandsons and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 19, 2011, in All Faith United Methodist Church, Eagle Rock, Missouri, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Reverend Karen Tutac will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be held at a later date in the Fayetteville National cemetery, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, Bill wished that donations be made to All Faith United Methodist Church.

Bessie Faye Purler

Bessie Faye Purler, age 68, of Exeter, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011, in her home.
She was born April 16, 1943, in Essex, Missouri, the daughter of Eli and Ida (Fields) Payne, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were three brothers, James, Freddie and David Payne and three sisters, Mary Payne, Jewell Hinshaw and Wilma Lee Rayburn.
Surviving are her partner, Lee Wilson; one son, Bobby Rayburn and his wife, Kim of Exeter, Missouri; four daughters, Carolyn Bowers and her husband, Rick of Exeter, Missouri, Sandra Mitchell of Cedar Hill, Missouri, Sissy Rayburn of Exeter, Missouri and Sally Morris and her husband, Chuck of Exeter, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Bessie grew up and received her education at Sikeston, Missouri, where she graduated from high school. She then took CNA courses and later became a certified med tech (CMT). For several years she was employed at Rose Inn in Owensville, Missouri. In 1997, she moved from Owensville, Missouri, to Exeter to make her home. Some of her favorite pastimes were quilting, sewing, crocheting, going to yard sales, fishing and cooking, but her passion was taking care of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 19, 2011, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri. Pastor Doyle Russell will conduct the services. Burial will be in Fields cemetery, Shell Knob, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

Bonnie Louise Stewart

Bonnie Louise Stewart, age 83, of Marionville, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 18, 2011, at her home.
She was born in Miami, Oklahoma, September 7, 1928, the daughter of William Franklin (Jack) and Ella Mae (Stark) Stewart, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, George, Bernard and Jack, Jr.; one sister, Gwendolyn Myers; her dearest friend, Marilyn Hunt and many other dear friends and family.
She is survived by one brother, Don Stewart and his wife Edna Mae of Texas City, Texas; one sister-in-law, Wanda Stewart of Wheaton, Missouri; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and family who will miss her.
Bonnie graduated from Wheaton High School and continued her education at St. John’s Nursing School in Joplin, Missouri, where she became a registered nurse. On December 11, 1951, Bonnie joined the United States Air Force and served during both the Korean War and Viet Nam War. Throughout her service career, she received several medals, badges and commendations which included a Bronze Star. After serving over twenty years, she retired as a Lt. Colonel on January 31, 1972, at Biloxi Mississippi. She moved to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, following her retirement and became very active in the Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder. Bonnie was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, bowling and traveling. She traveled to many different countries and all over the United States. Playing cards, especially, bridge and just being with family and friends was always special to her. In 2007, she moved to the Methodist Manor at Marionville, Missouri. She started a single’s group at the Manor and was active in all functions.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 3, 2011, in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton, Missouri. Reverend Linda Jordan will conduct the services. Burial with full military honors will be in Muncie Chapel cemetery, Wheaton.

Dorothea "Dot" Jane Redding
(May 3, 1917 - November 21, 2011)
Dorothea Jane (Madison) Redding, age 94, of Cassville, Missouri, departed this life Monday, November 21, 2011, in Cassville Health Care and Rehab, where she had been a resident three years.
She was born May 3, 1917, in Coffeyville, Kansas, the daughter of Roy Levi and Wilhelmina Jane (Phillips) Madison. On October 16, 1937, in Oak Ridge, Missouri, she was united in marriage to William Uel “Pete” Redding, who preceded her in death on February 25, 2002. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Pearl Seago and three brothers, Elzie, Kenneth and Leslie Madison.
Surviving are two daughters, Gaylene Vaught and her husband, Larry of Cassville, Missouri and Jane Martens and her husband, Jim of Carthage, Illinois; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
“Dot” as many called her attended Longfellow School in Coffeyville, Kansas. The depression began and the factories were only open one or two days a week so a person couldn’t make a living that way. Dorothea’s parents owned some land near Hailey, Missouri, so when she was fifteen they moved there and farmed, raising cattle and chickens to sell cream and eggs. Dot was an avid gardener, housekeeper, cook, wife and mother. She loved her family and enjoyed living on the farm and taking care of her chickens and other farm animals. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Dot’s hobbies were cooking, knitting and crocheting, her hands were never idle.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, November 23, 2011, in Clio cemetery, Jenkins, Missouri, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Doyle Russell will conduct the services.
There will be no visitation.

Artie Grace Tucker
(February 8, 1912 - November 22, 2011)
Artie Grace Tucker, age 99, of Clearwater, Kansas, formerly of Exeter, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011, in Clearwater Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born February 8, 1912, in Exeter, Missouri, the daughter of Charles and Florence (Moore) Haddock. On January 27, 1934, she was united in marriage to George Reams and to this union three children were born. George preceded her in death on December 5, 1985. In 1988, she married
Tom Tucker, who passed away on August 24, 2000. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Ray Reams; six sisters and four brothers.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen Belgard and her husband, Tom of San Diego, California and Ruby Ryherd and her husband, Marvin of Haysville, Kansas; one sister, Mary Butler of Carthage, Missouri; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Artie grew up and received her education at Exeter, graduating from Exeter High School. For several years she was employed as an office clerk for the Sedgwick County Assessor. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Haysville, Kansas. She was an avid reader and she liked to write.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 28, 2011, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri. Pastor Russ Ryherd will conduct the services. Burial will be in Maplewood cemetery, Exeter, Missouri.

Mary Francis Higgs

Mary Francis Higgs, age 103, of Pierce City, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011, in St. John’s Hospital, Aurora, Missouri.
She was born August 1, 1908, in Exeter, Missouri, the daughter of James Elmer and Lena Eliza (Davidson) Tucker. On August 5, 1928, in Stella, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Jess Higgs, who preceded her in death on July 31, 2001. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Grace Higgs at the age of 14; three sisters and four brothers.
Surviving are one daughter, Helen Fisher and her husband, Floyd of Pierce City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Rex Black and wife, Rhonda and Dianna Ward and husband, Scott; three great grandchildren, Cherry Rexwinkle and husband, Jim, Jarrod Harrall and wife Kylie, and Jessica Shockley and husband Mat, two great-great grandchildren Landen Shockley and Sophia Rexwinkle. There are also three step-grandchildren, Ricky Fisher, Janie Moon and Carol Hays; four step-great grandchildren Rochelle, Amanda, April and Crystal and five step-great-great grandchildren Kole, Lane, Emily, Jamie and Clay.
Mary grew up in Barry County, Missouri and received her education at Doss School. Most of her life was spent in the Exeter area, living in California a few years and spent the last sixteen years at Pierce City. She had been employed for Max Cooper Grocery and worked several years at Johnston Variety Store.
She was a member of Pierce City First Baptist Church, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 29, 2011, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri. Reverend Rex Black and Reverend Justin Guffey will conduct the services. Burial will be in Maplewood cemetery, Exeter, Missouri.
