Aggeler, Virginia
Virginia L. Aggeler, age 82, of Versailles, passed away Tuesday evening, August 30, 2005 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. She was born February 10, 1923 in Idalia, MO, the daughter of Simon Zander and Mila Ann Hale Weaver. Virginia worked at Brown Shoe Company in Versailles for twenty years, was a homemaker, and member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by one daughter, Kay Newcomb and husband Terry, of Poplar Bluff, MO; two sisters, Lillian Schultz of Alton, IL, and Virgie Palmer of Poplar Bluff, MO; two grandchildren, Paula Robinson and Justin Newman; five great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Stephen, Dani, Jeremy and Zoe, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Ray Brothers, two brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 3, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Versailles cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 Saturday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
Akin Peggy
Peggy L. Akin, age 71, of Versailles, passed away Tuesday evening, October 5, 2004, at her home. She was born November 15, 1932, in Norborne, Missouri, the daughter of T.H. and Carrie Mabel Kite Schultz. She was united in marriage with William F. Haley who preceded her in death on April 1, 1979. On January 14, 1984, in Versailles, she married
Norman Akin who survives of the home. Peggy was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Versailles, W.I.N. Investment Club in Versailles, and O.E.S. Versailles Chapter 410. She enjoyed photography, spending winters in Biloxi, Mississippi with Norman and their friends, and spending time with her very special grandson, Dawson. In addition to her husband she is survived by one son; Mark Haley and wife Michelle of St. Louis, two step-sons; Larry Akin and wife Sue of Versailles, and Kenny Akin and wife Shiela of Diamond, MO, one step-daughter, Vicki Akin of North Kansas City, MO; one grandson, Dawson Haley of St. Louis, five step-grandchildren; Suzanne Akin of Versailles, Landon Akin of Columbia, Ryan Akin and Jason Akin of Rockford, IL and Cody Akin of Diamond, MO, and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ola F. Byard. Funeral services will be at 5:00 P.M. Friday, October 8, 2004, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with the Reverend Jim Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date in Mt. Moriah cemetery in Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Betty Belle Albers, age 86, of Versailles, passed away Saturday morning, October 11, 2003 at her home. She was born August 30, 1917 in Houston, Texas, the daughter of Warren and Lucille Moore Boles. She married
Orva Albers who preceded her in death on February 5, 1965. Mrs. Albers was a homemaker and member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by cousins, Pat & Larry Stephens of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and their daughters, Rachel Terrell of Paris, Tennessee, and Susan Stephens of Tuscan, Arizona; Jack Moore and Joe McArthur; brother-in-law Harold Albers and wife Ella Ruth of Boonville, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 16, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. Jeanie Leeper officiating. Interment will be in the Versailles cemetery. ALBERT E. PLACKE
Albert E. Placke, age 94, of Gravois Mills, passed away Sunday morning, July 25, 2004 at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. He was born May 11, 1910 at St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Henry C. and Catherine Moeller Placke. Mr. Placke worked at the General Motors Fairfax Plant for 27 years, and was a member of the U.A.W. Local 31. He is survived by two sons, Albert R. Placke of Sunrise Beach, and Edward H. Placke of Bonner Springs, KS; one daughter, Patricia D. Dawson of Gravois Mills; 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wives, Pearl Placke, Florence Placke, and Margaret Placke; one stepson Paul Andrew Bensen, and a stepdaughter Lois Kaminski. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.
Alexander Jane Betty

Betty Jane Alexander, age 83, of Versailles, passed away Sunday morning, September 14, 2003 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. She was born April 12, 1920 in Orrville, Ohio, the daughter of Walter and Gail Harriet Steiner Stocksdale. She was united in marriage on February 24, 1946 in Orrville, Ohio with Lloyd Alexander Jr., who survives of the home. She graduated from Canton Business College and was a bookkeeper for Shearer Farm Equipment for 19 years in Ohio, and later worked at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was a member of Glensted United Methodist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #410 in Versailles. In addition to her husband she is survived by four daughters, Louise Marie Dudgeon of Fredericktown, Ohio, Linda Kay Prochazka of West Salem, Ohio, Lou Ann McCullough of Shreve, Ohio, and Lisa Joan Bias of Versailles; one brother, Irvin Stocksdale of Wooster, Ohio; nine grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Eastern Star Services were held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. Bob Nichols officiating. Robert D. Ross sang “Nearer My God To Thee” and “Amazing Grace” accompanied at the organ by Virginia Ross. Interment was in the Versailles cemetery. Casketbearers were Gene Klein Sr., John Gerlt, Bill Brewer, Nathan Shelton, Mark Fields, and Tony Perryman, with David Turner serving as an honorary casketbearer. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
Alexander Lloyd Jr.
Lloyd M. Alexander Jr., age 83, of Versailles, passed away September 29, 2004, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born December 28, 1920, in Wooster, Ohio, the son of Lloyd Sr. and Wortha Mohr Alexander. He was united in marriage on February 24, 1946, in Orrville, Ohio, to Betty Jane Stocksdale, who preceded him in death on September 14, 2003. Lloyd was a farmer, a member of the Glensted United Methodist Church, the Ebenezer Lodge #33 F. & A.M. in Wooster, Ohio, O.E.S. Chapter 410 in Versailles for 25 years, and Valley College Grange for 68 years. He is survived by four daughters, Louise Marie Dudgeon of Fredericktown, Ohio, Linda Kay Prochazka of West Salem, Ohio, LuAnn McCullough of Shreve, Ohio, and Lisa Joan Bias of Versailles; nine grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral and Masonic Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 3, 2004, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Interment will be in the Versailles cemetery. Allee E. Price
Price E. Allee, age 89, of Versailles, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 24, 2005, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover. He was born on February 14, 1916, in Morgan County, the son of Jesse Lee and Jessie Merle Price Allee. He was united in marriage on December 29, 1946, in Versailles, with Billie Bellamy. Price was an over the road truck driver for Jack Cooper Transport in Kansas City, Missouri for several years until his retirement. He enjoyed making floats for the American Royal and enjoyed helping with bingo when he lived in Raytown, Missouri. In Versailles, he had Price’s Taxi Service, and loved taking care of the yard for the flea market. He was also a member of the Lions club in Raytown and Versailles. In addition to his wife Billie of 58 years, he is survived by one brother, Gene Allee of Boonville; one sister Helen Kinsel of Columbus, Ohio; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Allee, and one sister, Rachael Hixon. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 28, 2005, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Reverend Dinzel Webb officiating. Interment will be in the Versailles cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Golden Age Living Center in Stover. Anderson, Joyce A.
Joyce A. Anderson, age 77, of Gravois Mills, passed away Monday, January 23, 2005 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born October 1, 1928 in Malmo, Nebraska, a daughter of Edmund and Ruth Anderson Quincy. She was united in marriage on October 21, 2000 with Lloyd Anderson. Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker, member of Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie, American Business Women, American Legion Zack Wheat Post #624 Auxiliary, and the Osage Community Elks Lodge #2705 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Anderson of the home; three daughters, Connie Jean Killion of Fort Worth, TX, Kathleen Joyce Prell of Blue Springs, MO, and Jacquelyn Prell of Pahoa, Hawaii; one brother, Edmund Quincy of Bolder, CO; one sister, Bonnie Craven of Kingman, AZ; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a later date with inurnment in Lincoln Memorial Park cemetery in Lincoln, Nebraska. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.
ANNA LOUISE SNYDER-NICKELS
Anna Louise Snyder-Nickels, age 64, of Rolla, formerly of Versailles, passed away after a long illness Sunday evening, August 8, 2004 at Heritage Park Care Center in Rolla. She was born October 24, 1939 at High Point, Missouri, the daughter of Lynn C. and Norma A. Osborne Snyder. Anna lived in Versailles most of her life and attended Hopewell Union Church, West Union Baptist Church and later the First Christian Church. She was involved in several community activities including the Royal Theater and served on the Apple Festival Committee. She had worked in the dietician department at Good Shepherd Care Center and was a member of Upsilon Nu for many years. She is survived by two sons, Harry Nickels and wife Cindy, of Princeton, Illinois, and children Matthew and Shaylee; Dan Nickels of Versailles, and children Jeremy, Lindsay, Stephan and Dani; one daughter Lea Ann Rush and husband Rick, of Rolla, and children Gavin and Ryan; a sister-in-law, Patricia Snyder of Sunrise Beach, and her family Shari and Mark Grotheer and Ethan and Collin, many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond “Butch” Snyder, and one niece, Lori Ann Snyder. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Pastor Danny Owsley officiating. Shari Grotheer sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace” accompanied at the organ by Virginia Schad, and vocal recordings of “Word of God Speak” and “I Can Only Imagine” by Mercyme were played. Interment was in the High Point cemetery. Casketbearers were Harry, Dan, Matt and Jeremy Nickels, Rick Rush and Lance Newkirk. Mark Grotheer served as an honorary casketbearer. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Sue Ellen Ayers, age 64, of Gravois Mills, passed away Monday evening, September 1, 2003 at Ozark Care Center in Osage Beach. She was born March 28, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Virgil and Bernice Joyce Bradley. Mrs. Ayers was a retired dance instructor and choreographer. She lived in the Kansas City area most of her life before moving to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1995. She is survived by her husband, Marvin Ayers of the home; one daughter, Amie Ayers of Camdenton; one granddaughter, Kasey Katlyn Ayers of Camdenton, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, at Highland Park Funeral Home in Kansas City, Kansas. Burial will be in Paola, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, at Highland Park Funeral Home in Kansas City, Kansas. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Kidney Foundation.
