Boyd, Pansy Joan

Pansy Joan Boyd, age 78, of Versailles, formerly of South Dakota, passed away on November 18, 2005, at her home in Versailles. She was born in Ft. Thompson, South Dakota, on April 6, 1927, the daughter of Thomas and Grace Moore Eagleman. Pansy was united in marriage to Malcolm Clarence “Sport” Boyd on May 31, 1948. The couple resided 10 miles north of Murdo, South Dakota, and were engaged in farming and ranching. She is survived by one daughter Bonita Boyd Noldner and husband Rodney of Versailles; a step-son Harold James “Jim” Boyd and wife Merna of Stover; two grandchildren Kelsey Euper of Tipton and Kaslyn Noldner Marriott and husband Donnie of Versailles; two great-grandchildren Wyatt Euper of Tipton and Kade Marriott of Versailles; one sister Fairy Twiggs of Salina, Kansas; one special niece Norma J. Iverson Huhn of Wausau, Wisconsin; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Pansy was preceded in death by her husband “Sport” on July 28, 1980, her parents Thomas and Grace Eagleman, four brothers Donald, Benjamin Charles, and Thomas, two sisters Alene Vanwald and Carmen Wade and one special niece Wanda Tews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 21, 2005, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. A second funeral service is pending at the Community Bible Church in Murdo, South Dakota. Interment will be in the Murdo cemetery in Murdo, South Dakota. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Morgan County Animal Orphanage Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Boyd, Shirley

Shirley A. Boyd, age 70, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Thursday evening, October 25, 2005 at her home. She was born April 2, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Paul P. and Nellie K. Ballew Breitenstein. She was united in marriage on February 15, 1980 in Kansas City, Missouri, with Bill G. Boyd. Mrs. Boyd was a secretary for Trans World Airlines for 35 years, member of the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie, the American Legion Zack Wheat Post #624 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Osage Community Lady Elks #2705 of Laurie. She is survived by her husband, Bill G. Boyd of the home, one son, Patrick O’Neil of Johnson County, Kansas, many other relatives and friends. Memorial services was held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, at the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie, with Father David Buescher officiating. Private family inurnment will be in St. Patrick cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

BOYER MARIE RUBY

Ruby Marie Boyer, age 75, of Kansas City, formerly of Versailles, passed away Saturday morning, September 4, 2004 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. She was born January 31, 1929 at Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of John and Hattie Ellen Hummingbird Watterson. She was united in marriage on January 10, 1946 with Clyde Boyer, who preceded her in death on July 22, 1992. Mrs. Boyer was a homemaker. She is survived by one daughter, Sheila Doolin of Kansas City; three grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Versailles cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.

Breedlove Vonita

Vonita Breedlove, age 68, of Columbia, formerly of Sunrise Beach, passed away Friday, December 20, 2002 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. She was born May 15, 1934 in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of Von and Frieda Knoblock Wright. She was united in marriage on November 14, 1952 with Nim Breedlove. Mrs. Breedlove was a retired mail clerk for Shelter Insurance in Columbia. She is survived by her husband, Nim Breedlove of the home; one daughter, Glenda Bell and husband, Mike of Columbia; one granddaughter, Kimberly Brinkman of Columbia; one great-granddaughter, Brianna Brinkman, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jon Wright. Services were at 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 2002 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie with Reverend Todd Forman officiating. Burial was in Garber Memorial Estates cemetery in Laurie. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

Breit Evelyn Cora

Cora Evelyn Breit, age 84, of Gravois Mills, passed away Monday morning, April 4, 2005 at the Laurie Care Center. She was born December 2, 1920 at Rochester, Missouri, the daughter of Commodore Perry and Josie Marie Caldwell Hines. She was united in marriage on March 20, 1948 in Independence, Missouri with James Otto Breit. Mrs. Breit was a homemaker, member of Westlake Christian Church in Laurie and life member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary in Camdenton. She is survived by her husband, James Otto Breit of the home; one daughter, Sharon Kay Schenherr of Gravois Mills; one brother, Charles Hines of Rogers, Arkansas; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, James Edwin Breit. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie, with Rev. Jim Sutherlin officiating. The vocal selections of “In The Garden” and “How Great Thou Art” were sung. Graveside services and interment will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Brooking cemetery in Raytown. Casketbearers will be Rober Raulie, Trevor Schenherr, Mike Elliott, Zachery Elliott, Doug Kinder and Rusty Darnell. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Laurie Care Center or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

Bridges Samuel James

James Samuel Bridges, Jr., 84, of Sunrise Beach, MO, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2003, at Lake Regional Hospital after a four-week illness. Jim was born September 22, 1919, in Kennett, Missouri, the son of James S. Bridges, Sr. and Rosie Johnson Bridges. Jim was united in marriage in 1954 with Phyllis Williams, and she preceded him in death earlier this year. He was also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and two sisters. Jim was a retired supervisor for the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District and moved to Sunrise Beach upon his retirement in 1984. He served several years during World War II with the United States Army Air Corps, 8th Air Force, North Africa ETO. He was the recipient of numerous medals, including the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. He is survived by two sons, James S. Bridges, III, and Dennis Bridges, both of Patterson, California; two grandsons, James S. Bridges, IV, and Dennis Bridges, Jr., plus three great-grandchildren, all from California; his brother, Daniel W. Bridges, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Ann Stockton of Kennett, Missouri, and Ophelia Ostrom of Seabrook, Maryland, plus many nieces and nephews. Jim was a very warm and caring person and leaves behind many friends and neighbors who, along with his family, will dearly miss his bright smile and hugs. A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday evening, October 21, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie. Cremation will follow, with arrangements under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

Bridges, Madeline C.

Madeline C. Bridges, age 95, of Versailles, passed away Saturday morning, June 11, 2005 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born July 1, 1909 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Howard and Grace Frierson Simpson. She was united in marriage on November 8, 1947 in Basehor, Kansas with Melvin L. Bridges, who preceded her in death on July 21, 2002. Mrs. Bridges was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She is survived by her dear friends and caregivers for many years, Frank and Mary Reed of Gravois Mills. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. Todd Forman officiating. Interment was in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

DUANE BROWNFIELD

Duane Brownfield, age 58, of Versailles passed away Wednesday morning, January 1, 2003 at Bothwell Regional Hospital in Sedalia. He was born June 17, 1944 in Sedalia, Missouri the son of Gordon F. and Elaine Ray Brownfield. Duane graduated from Green Ridge High School in 1962 and he owned and operated Mini Mart in Gravois Mills and Brownfield Amusement Company for several years. In the recent years he owned and operated Brownfield Mini-storages in Versailles. Duane was a kind, generous, and gentle man and always helped many people in need. He is survived by his mother Elaine Brownfield of Versailles, many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Brownfield and a sister, Sheri Lyn Brownfield Butler. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 4, 2002 at the Kidwell Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Reverend Jeff Cochran officiating. Burial will be in the Versailles cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 4, 2002 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Show-Me Christian Youth Home near LaMonte. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Brownfield Elaine L.

L. Elaine Brownfield, age 81,of Versailles, passed away Saturday evening, July 16, 2005 at Rest Haven Retirement Home in Sedalia. She was born January 27, 1924 at Green Ridge, Missouri, the daughter of Ransom and Lena F. Smith Ray. She was united in marriage on May 31, 1941 in Green Ridge, Missouri, to Gordon F. Brownfield who preceded her in death on August 12, 2001. Mrs. Brownfield graduated from Green Ridge High School. She was a bookkeeper for the Green Ridge School and later Morgan County Gas in Versailles. She was a member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Versailles. She is survived by two brothers, Dale Ray of Sedalia, and Melvin Ray of Green Ridge, several nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sheri Lyn Brownfield Butler on February 25, 1977, and one son, Duane Brownfield on January 1, 2003. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Cremation will follow services with inurnment at a later date in the Versailles cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Show Me Christian Youth Home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Bumgarner E. Norma

Norma E. Bumgarner, 90, of Gravois Mills, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born Oct. 9, 1912, in Harrisonville, a daughter of Henry and Mary Norman Dickinson. On June 30, 1934, she was married to Earl Bumgarner, who died Sept. 14, 1994. Mrs. Bumgarner was a homemaker. Survivors include a son, Richard Bumgarner of Gravois Mills; a daughter, Patricia Dahl of Billings, Mont.; nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Nancy Allison, two brothers, John and Junior Dickinson, and two sisters, Rebecca Ross and Joann Slocum. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie, with the Rev. Jerry Piker officiating. Cremation will follow services. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Opened Door Christian Fellowship Building Fund in Laurie.

Burgess, James Mack

James Mack “Jim” Burgess, age 64, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Sunday morning, September 18, 2005 at his home. He was born June 22, 1941 in Bokchito, Oklahoma, the son of Coley M. and Beulah M. Brackett Burgess. He married Mary M. Hamilton Roland on December 18, 1992. Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran and member of the Eagles. He was a retired automobile body repairman, self-employed truck dispatcher, and worked at the Country Corner near Sunrise Beach. Survivors include his wife, Mary M. Burgess of the home; two daughters, Sherry White and Jeanna Green of North Kansas City, MO; one son, James Coley Burgess of Blue Springs, MO; one brother, David Gabbard of Overland Park, KS; one sister, Susanne White of Bucklin, MO; three grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Don Burgess on March 25, 2005. Graveside services and entombment will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 22, at Garber Memorial Estates Columbarium in Laurie, with Pastor Nick Stutesman officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

Burris Raymond

Raymond Lee Burriss, age 81, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Friday morning, February 28, 2003 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. He was born September 14, 1921 in Warrensburg, Missouri, the son of Aubrey Fred and Minnie Catherine Custer Burriss. He was united in marriage on April 2, 1946 in Fayette, Missouri with Floura Maye Lawson. Mr. Burriss was a janitor at Raytown South School in Raytown for several years and later worked for Vendos Vending Company in Kansas City for 36 years. He was baptized in the Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Maye Burriss of the home; two daughters, Janet Lee Ray, and husband Kenneth of Sunrise Beach, and Betty Ruth Wilhelme, and husband William of Campbellsport, Wisconsin; one sister, Ruth Virginia Copas of Sedalia; two grandchildren Stacy Lynn Pintor and Matthew James Dearth; two great-grandchildren, Kristine Arin Pintor and Katelin Janai Pintor, many other relatives and friends. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie with Reverend Dick Sanders officiating. Interment will be in the Garber Memorial Estates cemetery in Laurie. The family will receive friends from 5;00 to 7:00 Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

Bush Hagan Gladys

Gladys Hagan Busch, 97, of Dothan, Ala., formerly of Versailles, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan. She was born Jan. 28, 1905, in Morgan County, a daughter of Aubrey Arthur and Clara Ella Clark Hagan. Ms. Busch lived in Versailles when she was young. She was a graduate of Versailles High School, William Woods College in Fulton and Central Missouri State Teachers College. She taught elementary and high school students for seven years. She later worked for the state of Missouri Division of Employment and Security for 27 years, before she retired. She moved to Dothan 20 years ago. She was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church, where a new United Methodist Circle was named in her honor in 2000. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Leota Busch of Jefferson City; and several cousins including, Mildred Frisbie, Doris Smith, Juanita Yarnell and Jack Clark, all of Versailles, and Margaret Wetzel of Kansas City. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Versailles cemetery, with the Rev. Gailya Dow officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.
