Houchens E. Donald
Donald E. Houchens, age 69, of Gravois Mills, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2004 at St. Marys Health Center in Jefferson City. He was born April 22, 1935 in Versailles, Missouri, the son of Earl Edward and Floy Etta Silvey Houchens. He was united in marriage to Donna Ruth Chamberlain on May 14, 1954. He was a member and elder of the First Christian Church, and was retired from the maintenance department at the Good Shepherd Care Center. He is survived by his wife Donna Houchens of the home; two sons Eddie Houchens and wife Bernie of Jefferson City, Missouri; Gary Houchens and wife Debbie of Waynesville, Missouri; one brother Larry Houchens of Versailles, Missouri; five grandchildren, Cherie, Tammie, Christie, Donnie, and David Houchens; one great-granddaughter Kirsten Houchens, many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry Lynn Houchens, and one sister Betty Campbell. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 4, 2004 at the First Christian Church in Versailles with John Wagner and Jim Randall officiating. Burial will be in the Versailles cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, December 3, 2004 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Houston "Jumbo" Kenneth
Kenneth “Jumbo” C. Houston, age 70, of Barnett, Missouri, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 19, 2003 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles, Missouri. Mr. Houston was born May 4, 1932 in Eldon, Missouri, the son of Eunice M. Houston. Jumbo is survived by several cousins and friends. Services will be at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Reverend Ronnie Hess officiating. Musical selections are “How Great Thou Art” and “In The Garden” Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens cemetery in Barnett. Housworth May Lorena
Lorena May Housworth, 89, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, May 27, 2005 at Jefferson City Manor Care Center. She was born May 28, 1915 near Versailles, Mo, a daughter of the late Hugh and Blanche Wahlers Smiley. She was married
September 6, 1936 to Ernest Housworth at Versailles, who preceded her in death March 22, 1995. Lorena was a devoted mother and grandmother. She taught Sunday School classes for many years, and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Jefferson City. She worked at Dillons Super Market and enjoyed gardening. She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Silvey and husband Bill, of Jefferson City; one son Loren R. Housworth and wife Betty, of Warrensburg; one sister Louella Byler of St. James; two brothers, Milfred Smiley of Pleasant Hill, and H.W. Smiley of Versailles; five grandchildren, Joy Bax and husband Bob, Jeff Silvey and wife Monica, Kamala Stevens, Byron Housworth, and Stacey Phelps, nine great grandchildren, Jeremy Silvey, Andrew Bax, Jennifer Beeler, Kamala Stevens, Lauren Bax, Lauren Rae Stevens, Becca Phelps, Kindall Phelps, Erick Feeley, and Jordan Bax, one great-great grandson, Brent Silvey, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. Shane Crum officiating. Howard, Gather J.
Gather J. Howard, age 78, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday evening, September 10, 2005 at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility in Jefferson City. He was born December 20, 1926 at Bagnell, Missouri, the youngest son of Lon and Zelia Hicks Howard. He was united in marriage on November 17, 1953 with Rosa June Sharpe, who preceded him in death on November 3, 2003. Mr. Howard served in the United States Army as a paratrooper receiving an honorable discharge. He was a merchant seaman in the MSTS for 27 years earning a 3rd Engineer License. While in the Merchant Marines he traveled the world and participated in artic expeditions, Deep Freeze I and II, worked with tracking of Apollo flights, nuclear sub testing, and in supplying troops during the Vietnam Conflict. After retirement from MSTS he worked at St. Mary’s Health Center and Lincoln University. Remaining to mourn his death are six children, Gloria Beveridge of Jefferson City, MO, Jessie Moyers of Pacific, MO, Jackie Moyers of Virginia Beach, VA, David Pinney of Pensacola, FL, Sondra Schwehn of Grand Island, NE, and Lynn Howard of Jefferson City, MO; two brothers, Leslie Howard of Versailles, and Ralph Howard of Independence; one sister, Opal Kreiling of Versailles; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by one son, James Moyers, granddaughter Lorrie Beveridge, sister Etta Campbell, and five brothers, Ernest, John, Porter, Gail and Oscar Howard. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery near Eldon. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Child Advocacy Center for Abused Children. Howser Wayne Timothy
Timothy Wayne Howser, 28, of Barnett, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia. He was born Oct. 9, 1974, in Columbia, a son of Darrell Wayne and Reva Ann Bowman Howser. Surviving are his parents of the home; three sisters, Lisa Howell of Prairie Home, Melissa Bransetter of Eldon and Carrie Brown of Montgomery City; his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth "Bessie" Bowman of Versailles; and six nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Timothy Wayne Howser Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
Hunter Helen
Helen D. Hunter, 89, of Versailles, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born Nov. 26, 1913, in Berryville, Ark., a daughter of William Denver and Flossie M. Fanning Wilton. On March 23, 1940, she was married
to Miller T. Hunter, who died Jan. 7, 2002. Mrs. Hunter was a homemaker. She was a member of Versailles United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star Grandin Chapter. Surviving are a sister, Billie Barnett of Berryville, Ark.; a nephew, Don Kelley of Gravois Mills; and 11 great nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Versailles cemetery with the Rev. Sidney Robbins officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Saturday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.
Hyde Stevens Doris
Doris F. Stevens Hyde, age 73, of Tipton, passed away Wednesday morning, May 25, 2005 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. She was born August 18, 1931 at Farwell, Texas, the daughter of Timothy and Evelyn Miller Morse. She was united in marriage on May 24, 1948 with Claude Jay Stevens, who preceded her in death on July 27, 1996. She later married
Jack Hyde. Doris was a music teacher for many years at Morgan County R-I School in Stover, and later taught G.E.D. Courses for Lincoln University. She was a member of the Tipton United Methodist Church, choir director at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Versailles, and member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 410 in Versailles. Doris loved music, fishing, camping and the outdoors, and was an avid fan of the N.B.A. She enjoyed swimming and taught lifesaving for the American Red Cross. She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey J. Stevens and wife Cindy, of Land of Lake, Florida, and John Mark Stevens of Versailles; three daughters, Cindy L. Leuthen of Jefferson City, Claudia J. Burris and husband Ken, of Versailles, and Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Stevens of Stella; four brothers, Rollin E. Morse of Ocean View, Washington, Raymond Morse of O’Fallon, Illinois, Billy B. Morse of Springfield, and Robert Morse of Florida; ten grandchildren, Audra Schneider, Carrie Stevens, Christopher Stevens, Katie Stevens, Kristen Boatright, Michael Boatright, Melissa Anderson, Melanie Stevens, Matthew Stevens, and Jaynie Stevens, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one son, James Matthew Stevens on June 20, 1962, and one sister, Mary Lou Wilkerson. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 29, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. Diane Miller officiating. Interment will be in Ozark Chapel cemetery in Laurie. Pallbearers were Matthew Stevens, Christopher Stevens, Michael Boatright, Ron Anderson, Tony Kotik and Tim Morse. Honorary pallbearers were Audra Schneider, Carrie Stevens, Katie Stevens, Kristen Boatright, Melissa Anderson, Melanie Stevens, and Jaynie Stevens. Eddins Sue "Patti" Patricia
Patricia “Patti” Sue Eddins, age 68, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Saturday evening, August 6, 2005, at Lake Regional Hospital. She was born June 12, 1937, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of William F. and Harriet Morash Eisman. She was united in marriage on June 2, 1983, in Liberty, Missouri, with Ralph Eddins, who survives of the home. Patti worked most of her life as a dental technician. In her spare time, she loved to read, write poetry, and listen and sing to music. In addition to her husband, she is survived by five sisters, Madelyn Fotovich of Kansas City, Kansas, Dorothy Fritz and husband Delbert of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Jean Hunziker of Riverside, California, Phyllis Schmalz and husband James of Kansas City, Kansas, and Aileen Leach and husband Murrell of Independence, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 10, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 9, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Garber Memorial Estates cemetery in Laurie. Judy Ann Ehrhardt, age 66, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2005 at her home in Sunrise Beach, MO. Ever thoughtful of others, Judy enjoyed cooking, crafting, shopping, and most importantly her family and friends. Judy was born July 15, 1939 in Independence, MO to Ima Jean and Chester Marler. in Hollywood, CA on October 25, 1957. She is survived by her husband Thurman, of the home; her son Michael L. Ehrhardt and his wife Kathy, grandson Brent and granddaughter Amanda, all of St. Louis, MO; her daughter Stacy A. Shockley and her husband Andy, granddaughter Kailey and grandson Kellen, all of Lee’s Summit, MO; her stepmother Mary Ellen Marler of Arlington Heights, IL; her half sisters Beverly Marler Sowa of Naperville, IL, and Barbara Marler of Arlington Heights, IL; her half brother James R. Sebastian of Ramona, CA, and her sister-in-law Judy Marler of Brighton, MI. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ima Jean Sebastian, her father Chester Marler, her stepfather James R. Sebastian and her brother Larry Marler. Graveside services will be at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, at Garber Memorial Estates cemetery in Laurie, with Rev. Rick White officiating. Eugene Donald "Doc" Tryon
Donald Eugene (Doc) Tryon, age 73, of Versailles, passed away Thursday morning, September 9, 2004 at his home. He was born October 22, 1930 at Proctor, Missouri, the son of William R. and Ithna Belle Hayes Tryon. Doc was a retired truck driver and U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by three daughters, Debra Kay Tryon of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Lori Maxwell of Cowlington, OK, and Angel Weaver of Warrensburg; one brother, Robert W. Tryon of Spiro, OK; one sister, Loretta Stevens of Lincoln; six grandchildren, Eric and Amanda Norton, Charles and Heath Owens, Patrick and Starla Weaver, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Donna Tryon and Shelia Norton. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 13, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Pastor Ron Hess officiating. Evans J. Junior
Junior J. Evans, age 82, of Versailles, passed away Friday morning, October 22, 2004 at his home. He was born January 12, 1922 in Pettis County, Missouri, the son of Charles Glovis and Della Mae Evans. Junior was a buyer/seller most of his life and owned Versailles Salvage Yard for several years and later a salvage yard in Sedalia. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of the Versailles Church of Christ. He is survived by his significant other, Katherine Moodie of the home; one son, Jimmy Evans of Rolla; one daughter, Renie of Sedalia; three sisters, Evelyn Haggerman of Versailles, Frances Merriott of Neosho, and Wyoma Small of Marion, Indiana; several grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 25, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Brother Lloyd Camp Sr. officiating. Interment will be in the Versailles cemetery. Charles P. Evans, age 86, of Gravois Mills, passed away Friday evening, September 26, 2003 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. He was born August 11, 1917 in Sedalia, Missouri, the son of William Henry and Nora Lewis Evens. He was united in marriage on August 13, 1974 to Marye Grayce Clark. Mr. Evans worked for Millwright Construction Local #102 of Detroit, Michigan. He is survived by his wife Marye Grayce Evans of the home; one son, Charles Henry Evans of Gravois Mills; three daughters, Joyce Snelling of Lake Orion, Michigan, Carolyn Graves of Pontiac, Michigan, and Charlene Beegle of Barnett, Missouri; two step-sons, Roger Snelling of Waterford, Michigan and Charles Snelling of Maryland; one step-daughter, Norma Hanks of Flint Michigan thirteen grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Perry Evans and a sister, Ruby Chamberlain. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Evelyn W. Petry, age 86, of Edina, Mo, formerly of Laurie, passed away Sunday morning, February 29, 2004 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville. She was born March 7, 1917 at Coleraine, Minnesota, the daughter of Benjamin and Katherine Whitehouse Grice. She was united in marriage on November 10, 1940 with Oscar Henry Petry Jr., who preceded her in death on June 4, 1997. Mrs. Petry was a homemaker and member of Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Henry Petry and wife Betsy, of Kirksville, and Dr. Thomas Petry and wife Susan, of Rolla; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14, at Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie. Entombment will be in the Garber Memorial Estates Columbarium in Laurie. Muretta M. Farr, age 57, of Versailles, passed away Friday afternoon, October 1, 2004 near Sedalia from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born April 21, 1947 at Versailles, Missouri, daughter of the late Frank Mitchell and Juanita Melba Ferguson Marvin. Mrs. Farr was a homemaker and member of Family Worship Center in Versailles. She is survived by four sons, Donald Snow of Versailles, Curtis Farr Jr., of Gravois Mills, Timothy Farr of Rocky Mount, and Frank Farr of Stover; one brother, Charles Cleveland of Colorado; four sisters, Karen Todd of Versailles, Sherry Luttrell of North Carolina, Lorraine Krivohlavek of Kansas, and Nadine Brower of Nevada, MO; eight grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one grandson. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Pastor Danny Owsley officiating. She is survived by her husband, Mark Farrelly of Marshall; one son, Gregory Johnson of Jefferson City; her mother, Helen Payne of Versailles, her father, Rashid Rashad of Jefferson City; one brother, Anthony Johnson of Jefferson City; one sister, Angela Whitiker of Cleveland, Ohio; and three grandchildren.
