Vencil Beatrice Marjorie
Marjorie Beatrice Vencil age 89, of Kansas City MO, passed away, Wednesday evening, March 23, 2005 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City. She was born March 14, 1916 in Purdin, MO, the daughter of B.W. and Edna Stanturf Tattershall. She was united in marriage to Basil Twitchel in 1945. In 1958 she married
E.N. Vencil who preceded her in death on August 8, 2003. Marjorie worked in the printing department at High Quality Card Company and also worked for North American Aircraft during WW-II. She enjoyed fishing, camping, crocheting, gardening, playing music and everybody enjoyed her cooking. She attended the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie and was a member of the Sunrise Beach Extension Club. She is survived by “her little girl” Barbara Wagner and Willie of Kansas City, KS; Barbara’s children Missy and Rick Holzrichter, Scott and Kim Wagner and Debbie Wagner all of Kansas City KS; Barbara’s grandchildren, Merek and Kari Holzrichter, Wyatt and Sela Wagner. Marjorie is also survived by one step-daughter Vicki and Clinton Shipp of St. Joseph, MO; two grandsons Vince and Janene Shipp of Trimble, MO, Randy and April Shipp of Webb City, MO; four great-grandchildren Shannon, Zack, Jake and Felecia Shipp; one sister Betty Miller of Fruita, CO; one brother Richard and Donna Tattershall of Shawnee, KS; three sisters-in-law Bertha Twitchel of Kansas City, KS, Hazel Twitchel of Gladstone, MO, Edna Tattershall of Keystone Heights, Fl; one brother-in-law John Burns of Camdenton, MO, nieces and nephews, Becky LaRock, Judy Newland, Nancy Wardwell, Donald, Gary and Roger Twitchel, many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ivan, and Gerald, Tattershall; and one sister Florence Burns Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie with Reverend Rick White officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Monday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie. Burial will be in the Garber Memorial Estates cemetery in Laurie. Uptergrove B. Charles
Charles B. Uptergrove, age 51, of Climax Springs, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at his home. He was born June 16, 1953 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Charles Burton Sr. and Beneta Cantwell Uptergrove. He was a welder, member of the Iron Workers Union and U.S. Air Force veteran. He is survived by his fiancée, Kelly Greene of Independence; two step children, Aaron Greene and Stephanie Millikan of Independence; one brother, Darrin Kahler of Climax Springs; three sisters, Janet Wilkerson and Diana Crockett of Climax Springs, and Brenda Rice of Independence; several nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather Ed Kahler, and a great niece Sadie. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 23, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie. Interment will be in the Mose Clark cemetery near Climax Springs. Roll Hince Finas
Finas Hince Roll, age 85, of Versailles, passed away Monday evening, June 6, 2005 at St. Marys Health Center in Jefferson City. He was born December 15, 1919 at Osage Iron Works, Missouri, the son of James Peter and Flossie Kincaid Roll. He was united in marriage on July 24, 1948 in Versailles, with Pauline Croy. Finas was a World War II Army veteran, having served in Company F, 504th Parachute Infantry. He was a self-employed carpenter most of his life having built numerous homes and structures, and was a member of West Union Baptist Church near Versailles. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Roll of the home; one son, Finas Stephen Roll and his wife Christina, of Santee, California; one sister, Nadean Kindle of Versailles, two grandchildren, James Bradford and Sheena Brooke Roll, many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Peter Ira Roll, and one sister, Nettie Williams. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. Rod Campbell officiating. Military honors and interment will be in the Versailles cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. ROBERT L. (Red) ALUMBAUGH
Robert L. (Red) Alumbaugh, age 70, of Gravois Mills, passed away Friday evening, August 13, 2004 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born September 4, 1933 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Oscar and Amelia Hapney Alumbaugh. He was united in marriage on August 17, 1967 with Reva Dean James, who survives of the home. Red was a retired self-employed construction worker, served 13 years in the U.S. Army and was a member of the V.F.W. In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Diana Chambers of the home; three sons, Forrest Alumbaugh of Eldon, Chuck Alumbaugh of Gravois Mills, and Brian Alumbaugh of Tipton; one brother, Roy Alumbaugh of Bloomington, Illinois; one sister, Beulah Whiles of San Bernardino, California; seven grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Reverend Theresa Clyde. Robert Gary “Bob” Washburn, age 48 of Gravois Mills, passed away Saturday morning, September 20, 2003 in Versailles, Missouri. He was born July 27, 1955 in Laurie, Missouri, the son of Mary Anne Wittrock Henry and Ralph Washburn Jr. Bob owned and operated Washburn Real Estate for ten years and owned Washburn Bail Bonds in Versailles. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Pipes and daughter, Chelsea Pearl Washburn both of the home; mother, Mary Anne Wittrock Henry of Daytona Beach, Florida; one sister, Lisa Kelly of Daytona Beach, Florida; two brothers-in-law, Earl Wayne Pipes and family, David Pipes and family; four nephews, Scott and Joe Collins, Earl and Cody Pipes, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Ralph W. Washburn Jr. and maternal grandparents, Herman and Mary Ellen Wittrock. Memorial services will be from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Riggs Mavin James
James Marvin Riggs, age 81, of Versailles, passed away Tuesday morning, November 30, 2004 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. He was born September 4, 1923 in Morgan County, Missouri, the son of Osborn Lee and Lillie Mabel Broyles Riggs. He was united in marriage on March 12, 1944 with Dulcie Virginia Burk, who preceded him in death on November 3, 1971. On August 22, 1972 he married
Lois Cable, who survives of the home. Marvin was an over the road truck driver for Jack Cooper Transport for 13 years, and later worked at Fasco Industries for 5 years, and was a custodian and bus driver for the Morgan County R-II School District in Versailles for 7 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served in the South Pacific, member of the V.F.W. Post in Gravois Mills, and was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Versailles. In addition to his wife Lois, he is survived by two sons, James Marvin Riggs Jr., of Merriam, Kansas, and Daniel Clifton Riggs of Eldon; three daughters, Debra Kay Squire, Sharon Lee Peters, and Dee Ann Bunch, all of Paris, Arkansas; two sisters, Flossie Stevenson Williams of Versailles, and Helen Coit of Stover; 12 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and first wife he was preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Thatcher. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 2, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. Todd Forman officiating. Interment will be in the Versailles cemetery. Riffle Maxine Bonnie
Bonnie Maxine Riffle, age 81, of Raytown, formerly of Versailles, passed away Tuesday evening, February 8, 2005 at Independence Regional Medical Center in Independence. She was born March 16, 1923 near Barnett, Missouri, the daughter of Arthur and Lillie Cochran Kidwell. She was united in marriage on January 5, 1942 with Murray W. Riffle, who preceded her in death on December 25, 1991. Mrs. Riffle worked for Western Electric in Kansas City for 22 years. She is survived by two sons, W. Warren Riffle and wife Rosanna, of Cornelius, North Carolina, and Donald W. Riffle and wife Debra, of Independence; three grandchildren, Rodney Riffle, Sarah Christon, and Erin Riffle; two great-grandchildren, Katie and Keegan Riffle, many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, James Kidwell, and one sister, Ilene Moore. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 12, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Interment will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens cemetery in Barnett. Richey J. Tommy
Tommy J. Richey, age 50, of Gravois Mills, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2005 at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. He was born December 13, 1954 in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of J.D. Williams and Georgia Richey. Tommy was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. He is survived by his mother, Georgia Phillips of the home; six sons, Shon, Tommy J., Thomas, Doug, Robert and Jessie Richey; and one daughter, Amy Richey. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, at the Versailles cemetery, with Reverend Jerry Piker officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
Richeson O. Neil
Neil O. Richeson, age 73, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Sunday morning, June 19, 2005 at the Laurie Care Center. He was born December 13, 1931 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Harry A. and Cecelia Fox Richeson. He was united in marriage on January 16, 1965 with Verla M. Bierd Dunfee. Mr. Richeson was an electrician for Owens Corning in Kansas City, Kansas for several years prior to moving to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1979, where he was an electrician and partner with Richeson Electric Inc. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Thunderbird Classic Car Club. He enjoyed the Lake of the Ozarks, and classic cars, especially his 1957 Ford Thunderbird. He is survived by his wife, Verla M. Richeson of the home; three sons, Clifford Dunfee of Kansas City, Dennis Richeson of Sunrise Beach, and Kevin Richeson of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Kathi Richeson of Kansas City; one brother, Harry Richeson of Mission, Kansas; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son Brian Richeson, one brother John Richeson, and one sister Elaine Richeson. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie, with Dr. Jim Sutherlin officiating. Interment will be in the Rock Dale cemetery near Sunrise Beach, with military honors under the auspices of the Zack Wheat American Legion Post #624 of Sunrise Beach. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Missouri Cancer Society. RICHARD FRANKLIN MADOLE
Richard Franklin Madole, age 94, of Barnett, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2004, at St. Mary’s Health Center in Jefferson City. He was born August 16, 1909, near Barnett, the son of Hiram M. and Arminda K. Nichols Madole. He graduated from Versailles High School in 1925, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the University of Missouri in 1929. Richard worked for two years as a Chemist for the Bakelite Corporation in New Jersey. He then returned to the Barnett community and farmed most of his life. He enjoyed science, music, history, and politics. Richard was a Democrat. He is survived by three nieces, Carol Moore and husband Woodson of Kansas City, MO, Ann Shaw and husband Tony of Barnett, and Kathleen Jobe and husband Charles of Russellville, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at Big Rock cemetery near Barnett with Reverend Woodson Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Morgan County Historical Society. Raven Dobbins Bonnie
Bonnie Dobbins Raven, age 95, of Laurie, passed away Wednesday morning, November 10, 2004 at Lake Regional Hospital. She was born November 16, 1908 at Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of James A. and Essie M. Riley. She was united in marriage on September 4, 1930 with Glenn Oliver Dobbins, who preceded her in death on March 13, 1977. She later married
Ralph Wesley Raven, who survives of the home. Mrs. Raven was a retired bookkeeper, member of Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church and member and Past Matron of Mt. Washington Chapter Order Of Eastern Star. She had been a Cub Scout leader and Sunday School teacher. She is also survived by two sons, Richard Dobbins and wife Karen, of Laurie, and Robert Dobbins and wife Pat, of Wheeling; three stepsons, Gene Raven, Kenneth Raven, and Bill Raven, all of La Porte, Indiana; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 12, at Ozark Chapel cemetery in Laurie, with Rev. Rick White officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie. Memorial contributions are suggested to Ozark Chapel cemetery. Raines, Martha Josephine
Martha Josephine Raines, age 92, of Versailles, passed away Saturday evening, June 11, 2005 at the Medical Center of Independence in Independence, MO. She was born January 9, 1913 at Linn Creek, Missouri, the daughter of Draper and Susan Eva Holloway Ayres. She was united in marriage on June 13, 1934 in Booneville, with Thomas (Press) Raines, who preceded her in death on December 10, 1984. Mrs. Raines worked at the Kansas City Bifocal Plant, was a member of the First Christian Church in Versailles, and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #410 in Versailles. She is survived by one son, Donald Raines of Grain Valley; two daughters, Bonnie Huntington and Martha Jo Pointer, both of Kansas City; one brother, Sidney Ayres of Gladstone; one sister, Pauline Barr of Independence; four grandchildren, Gary Don Raines, Brenda Diane Curtis, Terrie Denise Burkhart, and Bennie Dale Pointer; seven great-grandchildren, Micheal Curtis, Jessie Lou Curtis, Joey Alan Curtis, Marcus Lee Burkhart, Kirstin LaRue Burkhart, Kyle Adam Pointer, and Kaylee Denise Pointer; three great-great-grandchildren, Derrick Curtis, Brendan Curtis, and Kadin Burkhart, many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Bud Ayres, and one sister, Irene Lafferty. Louis Edward Raines Jr., age 48, of Versailles, passed away Monday morning, April 18, 2005 at his home. He was born May 22, 1956 at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippine Islands, the son of Louis Edward Sr. and Lucille Hazel Colvin Raines. He married
Becky Carstensen who survives. He worked in the construction business most of his life. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Michael Edward Raines of Versailles; one daughter, Misty Clark of Versailles; his parents, Louis Edward Sr. and Lucille Hazel Raines of Versailles; one brother, Dennis Raines of Versailles; two sisters, Lyndia Brown and Leisa Frankilin of Versailles; and one grandson, Jack Clark of Versailles. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 21, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Versailles cemetery. Prody E. LaVonne
LaVonne E. Prody, age 78, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Friday evening, September 24, 2004 at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, Missouri. She was born February 10, 1926 in Breckenridge, Minnesota, the daughter of Earl and Cecil Lateer Balker. Mrs. Prody worked at Ozark Bar-Be-Que near Sunrise Beach for 27 years. She was a member of the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie, and enjoyed gardening. She is survived by two sons, Dennis Prody of Helena, Montana, and David Prody of Osage Beach; two daughters, Mary Gassen of Jefferson City, and Cheri Menke of Hazelwood; one sister, Gail Roberts of Farmington, New Mexico; fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death her parents and one grandson, Dennis Michael Prody. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, at the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie, with Rev. Father Fred J. Barnett officiating. Interment will be in the St. Patrick cemetery with grandsons serving as casketbearers. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the Rosary at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Church. Polski Ellen Martha
Martha Ellen Polski, age 86, of Gravois Mills, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2005 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. She was born November 18, 1918 in Woodward, Oklahoma, the daughter of Roy and Lenora Douglas Berrian. She was united in marriage to Frances Polski on February 17, 1942 and had one daughter. Martha went to nurses training in Tulsa, Oklahoma and during WW-II she was a army nurse. She was a superintendent on the O.B. floor at Independence Sanitarium for 30 years and retired in 1970 and moved to the lake with Fran. Martha was a member of D.A.R. and the May flower Club, she loved to sew and you could always find her in the garden or yard with her flowers. She is survived by her husband, Frances Polski of the home; one daughter Judy Dorsey of Kansas City; two grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie.
