Stevens Lena
Lena Inez Stevens, 94, of Versailles, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born April 7, 1908, in Camden County, a daughter of John and Lucinda Crane. On Aug. 8, 1928, she was married
to George Calvin "Cal" Stevens, who died Jan. 4, 1999. Mrs. Stevens was a retired school teacher. She taught for more than 30 years, mostly at the junior-high level. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Versailles, where she was the church secretary for 10 years and a Sunday school teacher. She was president of the local P.J.A.'s and the 4-H Club. Surviving are a son, J.C. Stevens of Versailles; two sisters, Icel Kidwell of Columbia and Lela Ayres of Bolivar; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Crane; and four sisters, Pearl, Rena, Lettie and Edrie. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with the Rev. Diane Miller officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike Stevens, Craig Stevens, Rodney Stevens, Bryce Wood, Wayne Fry and Nicholas Morgan. Burial will be in Versailles cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the church.
Stevenson R. Steven
Steven R. Stevenson, age 52, of Stover, passed away Sunday evening, May 22, 2005 near Stover. He was born February 7, 1953 in Independence, Missouri, the son of Glen C. and Anna Jane Ellis Stevenson. Steven attended Morgan County R-I Schools in Stover, was a U.S. Army veteran, and a truck driver for Freightways Inc. in Eldon. He was saved in 1968 at the age of 15 and a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons, Waylon Stevenson of Stover, and Billy Stevenson of Akron, Ohio; his mother, Anna Jane Stevenson of Versailles; one brother, Dale Stevenson of Kingsville; two sisters, Anna Marie Winningham of Springfield, and Patti G. Haggerman of Versailles; two grandchildren, Shay Hernandez and Kristopher Robert Stevenson, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, and one brother Don Stevenson. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26, in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles cemetery with Rev. Dinzel Webb officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Stockham "Hilly" Hulda
Hulda “Holly” Fey-Stockham, age 84, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Versailles, Missouri passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Somerset at Claridge Court in Prairie Village, Kansas. She was born September 3, 1920, the daughter of Edward and Minnie Hauschild Johnson. She was united in marriage with Lee Fey who preceded her in death in 1954. She later married
Don Stockham who also preceded her in death. Hulda was a voluminous reader with a marvelous sense of humor and a quick wit. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning. Although she was a very strong woman, she had a hard life and has finally found peace. She is survived by one daughter, Michele Janchar and husband Jim of Overland Park, KS; one brother, George Johnson and wife Rosemary of Raytown, MO; two sisters, Marjorie Hensley and Julia Wingate both of Raytown, MO; and two grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Janis Fey. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 2, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Grace Hospice, 9200 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO 64114. Special thanks to the staff at Somerset. Stockham C. Don
Don C. Stockham, age 80, of Versailles, passed away Monday evening, November 1, 2004 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. He was born July 25, 1924 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of C.S. and Millie Loffer Stockham. He was united in marriage on December 18, 1965 to Hulda Johnson in Oklahoma. Don grew up and went to school in OK, NE, SD, and MO. He served in the 517 Parachute INF in Europe during WW-II. Don returned from WW-II on August of 1945 and went to work for General Motors. After 30 years of employment for General Motors Don retired and moved to a little farm near Versailles, owned a cabin in Golden Beach from 1956 to 1976 where he spent the weekends. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Rising Sun #13 for over 50 years and member of the UAW for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Hulda Stockman, and many other relatives and friends. Graveside services & Military Honors will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 4, 2004 at the Oak Grove cemetery near Versailles, Missouri. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriners Hospital for Children 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd St. Louis MO, 63131-3597.
Sturgill I. Ruth
Ruth I. Sturgill, age 79, of Laurie, formerly of Kansas City, passed away Friday morning, July 22, 2205 at the Laurie Care Center. She was born June 30, 1926 in Camden County, the daughter of William Henry and Ollie May Cleveland Hibdon. She married
Ernest Sturgill who preceded her in death. Mrs. Sturgill was a homemaker and member of the Baptist Church. She is survived by three brothers, Uriah Hibdon of Sunrise Beach, Wilford Hibdon of Camdenton, and Jack Hibdon of Dunnegan; several nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Hibdon, and one sister Melinda Snyder. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 25, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Moriah cemetery in Kansas City. Suddarth E. Chester
Chester E. Suddarth, age 83, of Versailles, passed away Wednesday morning, September 1, 2004 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. He was born March 2, 1921 in Olathe, Kansas, the son of George and Lilly Williams Suddarth. He was united in marriage on September 1, 1946 to Lilly Mae Keller in Olathe Kansas. Chester was a retired painter, packer and crater for the Civil Service, member of the Versailles United Methodist Church, Versailles Masonic Lodge # 320 A.F. & A.M., and a U.S. Army and Air Force Veteran of WWII and the Korean War. Chester Suddarth served as a combat engineer with the 45th Thunderbird division in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France, Germany and Australia. He was awarded six major battle stars, the Bronze Arrowhead for D-Day landings in Sicily, Italy and Southern France, and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in Italy. He was discharged from the Army October 7, 1945. He is survived by his wife, Lilly Mae Suddarth of the home; one brother, Clarence Suddarth of Gardner, Kansas, Clifford Suddarth, of Kansas City, Missouri, Harold Suddarth of Olathe, Kansas and Bill Suddarth of Yates Center, Kansas; one sister, Dorothy M. Hamblin of Olathe, Kansas, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 4, 2004 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Reverend Teressa Clyde officiating. Military honors and interment will be in the Versailles cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Taylor Folz Bernice
Bernice Folz Taylor, age 94, of Laurie, Missouri passed into the Lord’s hands on November 4, 2004. She was born on October 30, 1910 to Henry and Minnie Warner Coll in Kansas City, Mo and became the third of their four children. After her father’s death, Bea worked as a cashier and bookkeeper to help support her mother. In 1939, Bea married
John G. Folz who was employed by K.C. Power and Light. The couple retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1967. Following the death of her first husband, Bea married
William I. Taylor of Gravois Mills in 1976 and remained married
to him until his death in December of 2000. Bea is survived by her younger brother, Russell Coll, of Kansas City, KS along with many nieces, nephews, and good friends. She was a faithful member of the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1096, Laurie, MO 65038. Prior to her death she requested that contributions be made to her church in lieu of flowers. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 7, 2004 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie with Steve Ronnekamp officiating. Musical selections will be “Peace In The Valley” and “How Great Thou Art” sang by Steve Ronnekamp and accompanied by Nelda Ronnekamp. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Thistle Barton Charles
Charles Barton Thistle, age 89, of Gravois Mills, passed away Monday morning, July 11, 2005 at his home. He was born October 28, 1915 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Charles Ernest and Imogene Barton Thistle. He was united in marriage on August 23, 1945 with Mary S. Shipman. Mr. Thistle was a retired gemologist and owned and operated Woodstock Hoeffer Wholesale Jewelry Company in Kansas City, and was a diamond salesman for Harry Winston of New York. He graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, was a member of the PHI PSI Fraternity, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mary S. Thistle of the home; three daughters, Elaine V. Graham of Stover, Jeanette Gaches of Springfield, and Charlene Thistle of the home; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one nephew, Laurence Garceau of Maine. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Iris Garceau. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 15, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie, with Rev. Chester Hedrick and the Honorable Bob Dixon officiating. Military honors and interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Mount Moriah cemetery in Kansas City, MO. Casketbearers will be Bob Dixon, Lewis Graham III, David Graham, Matthew Graham, Tommy Dixon and Chris Gaches. Thomas Carl Wayne
Wayne Carl Thomas, age 49, of Versailles, passed away Thursday morning, July 7, 2005 near Watson, Missouri. He was born March 3, 1956 in Smithville, Missouri, the son of William Ray and Gladys B. Grunice Thomas. He was united in marriage on August 30, 1974 to Stephanie Ann Slota. They have made the Versailles area their home for the last 20 years. Wayne loved to hunt and fish. He was a heavy equipment operator and used his talent in several construction projects in the Lake Ozark area. He was an amateur HAM radio operator, a hobby he enjoyed and shared with family and friends, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Versailles. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Ann Thomas of the home; six children, Michael Thomas and wife Donna, Michelle Berry, Rachael Thomas, and Jordan Thomas, all of Versailles, and Mark Thomas, and Daniel Thomas and wife Jeanelle, of Holt Summit; one sister, Wenona Fischer and husband Danny, of Watson, MO, seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Amber, Vered, Alex, Nicholas, Nicole and Dakota, five nieces and great nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Wendall Ray Thomas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 11, at Calvary Baptist Church near Versailles, with Rev. William Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Versailles cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday at the church. Thompson E. Gail
Gail E. Thompson, age 62, of Versailles, passed away Wednesday morning, February 23, 2005 at his home. He was born November 6, 1942 at Enon, Missouri, the son of Hadley H. and Stella Hardcastle Thompson. He married
Lynda A. Peoples. On December 7, 1989 he married
Loretta “Rita” Braden, who preceded him in death on February 8, 1995. Gail retired in 1995 as a supervisor for Solar Optical where he worked for 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by one son, David Thompson of Versailles; three brothers, Lloyd Thompson of Fulton, Wayne Thompson of Versailles, and Glen Thompson of Nebraska City, Nebraska; two sisters, Joyce Monfort of Eldon, and Coleen Lee of Centerview, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Thompson, and one sister Doris Birdsong. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 27, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Thoss Shannon Goldia
Goldia Shannon Thoss, age 97, of Versailles, passed away Thursday morning, September 2, 2004 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born October 17, 1906 at Akinsville, Missouri, the daughter of Porter and Mary Emily Peoples Akin. She was united in marriage on May 27, 1927 with Charles William Thoss, who preceded her in death on October 22, 1970. Mrs. Thoss was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church in Versailles. She is survived by one daughter, Joan Stoyanoff of Stuart, Florida; one grandson, James Stoyanoff of New Orleans, Louisiana; one great-grandchild, Svenya Stoyanoff, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 4, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. Todd Forman officiating. Interment will be in the Versailles cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.
Timmerman Joshua
Joshua Shane Timmerman, son of James and Janet Timmerman, was born October 11, 1981 in Sacramento, California. He departed this life Sunday, June 26, 2005 at the age of 23 years, 8 months, 15 days due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Laurie, MO. Josh is survived by his parents, James Maurice and Janet Lee Timmerman of Sunrise Beach, MO; his lil’ sis’ Jamie Lynn Timmerman, of Laurie, MO; his grandfather, Bob Sizemore and his companion Darlene of Mission Viejo, CA; his grandmothers, Elaine Martin of Camdenton, MO, and Mimi Juarez of Huntington Beach, CA; uncles Don Sizemore of Carmichael, CA, Scott Juarez of Huntington Beach, Ca; great uncle, Joe Miller of Newport, CA; one cousin, Barrett Sizemore and his wife Sarah of Sacramento, CA, and many great friends and relationships. Josh was an avid sport fan. His favorite teams were the Sacramento Kings and the Oakland Raiders. He was always right on top off all the stats and trades, as a true sports fanatic should be. He had a heart for music and especially loved “Jammin with his buddies” and singing karoke. Although he loved these things, his true love was his family and pets. This was always his priority. Joshua’s heart and compassion will be truly missed and always remembered. We love you Joshy, and will see you when its our time. We know you’re watching over us. Tomasic Ann Cynthia
Cynthia Ann Tomasic, age 57, of Versailles, passed away Saturday morning, June 4, 2005 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born November 14, 1947, in Clinton, South Carolina, the daughter of John Robert and Letha Mae Ray Hamrick. She was united in marriage on January 29, 1994 with Joseph F. Tomasic. Cynthia drove a school bus for Turner School District in Kansas City, Kansas, and was a member of the West Union Baptist Church near Versailles. She is survived by her husband, Joseph F. Tomasic of the home; one son, Johnny Deaner of Kansas City, Kansas; one daughter, Melissa Lavigne of Dallas, Texas; one grandson, Nicholas Deaner, many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 9 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. Rod Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
VIRGINIA L. “VIRGIE” RYNBRAND
Virginia L. “Virgie” Rynbrand, of Inverness, FL, formerly of Kansas City, MO, died peacefully in her sleep on August 22, 2004, at New Horizon Senior Citizens Home in Inverness, Florida. She was born in Kansas City, MO, on January 10, 1917, and graduated from Central High School. After graduation, Virgie managed the Gibson Family Restaurants, and later she served as private secretary to Tom Johnson Insurance agency and retired from that company. In 1945, Virgie was married
to Robert Rynbrand and they made their home in Kansas City, MO until 1978 when she and Bob moved to the Lake of the Ozarks until his death in 1980. Since 1981, Virgie has made her home in Inverness, FL. Virgie was preceded in death by her father and mother; two sisters, Viola Gibson and Vivian Juvinal, and two brothers, George Goodrick and Rev. Francis Goodrick. She is survived by one brother; Robert Goodrick and wife Alene of Columbia, MO, one sister-in-law, Frances Roberts of Plano, TX, and nephews, Allen Goodrick of Plano, TX, David Goodrick of Palm Beach, FL, Dan Gibson of Kansas City, MO, and nieces Louise King of Texas and Patricia Amerine of Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at Hooper Funeral Home in Inverness, FL. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Graveside service and interment will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 27, 2004, in the Versailles cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association since Alzheimer’s disease caused the death of three of Virgie’s siblings. Virgie will be greatly missed by many great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and many good friends over the years. Vernette Jeanette
Jeanette Vernitte, age 70, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. She was born January 1, 1934 at St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Martin W. and Pearl Warner Seals. She was united in marriage on August 22, 1953 with James Vernitte. Mrs. Vernitte drove a bus for special schools in St. Louis for several years, and was a Catholic. She is survived by her husband, James J. Vernitte of the home; one son, James R. Vernitte of Winfield, MO; one daughter, Deborah Ash of Ferguson, MO; one sister, Betty Fletcher of Sunrise Beach; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Theodore Seals, and one sister Geraldine Becher. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 9, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie with Father C.D. “Bo” Ryan officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.
