Barbara “Barbie” Thomason, age 51, of Gravois Mills, passed away Sunday morning, November 9, 2003 at her home. She was born September 20, 1952 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Roy and Geneva Belt Dean. She was married
in January of 1971 with Jerry Ray Thomason who preceded her in death in August of 1979. Barbie was a nurses aide. She is survived by her mother, Geneva Bauermeister of Gravois Mills; three sisters, Rachel White of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Carolyn Runager of Weatherford, Texas, and Saundra Harrison of Tulsa, Oklahoma, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, her husband, and two half brothers, Claude Wayne Bark and George Edward Stewart. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 13, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Brother Tim Hurtle officiating. Interment will be in the Versailles cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Trasher Pearl Loretta

Loretta Pearl Trasher, age 92, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Gravois Mills, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park. She was born March 30, 1911 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Oscar Allen and Loretta LaFountain Felch. She was united in marriage on August 20, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri, with John Leonard Trasher who preceded her in death on June 4, 1983. Mrs. Trasher was a cook at Millstone Lodge and Rock Harbor restaurants. She was a member of Kent Memorial Lutheran Church in Sunrise Beach, the Gravois Mills Business & Professional Women’s Club and enjoyed bowling. She is survived by one son, Joseph A. Trasher, and wife Paula of Overland Park, Kansas; one sister, Alberta Evans of Nevada, MO; two grandsons, Joe Paul Trasher and John Rea Trasher, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Garber Memorial Estates cemetery in Laurie. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie.
Weber Eileen Frances

Frances Eileen Weber, age 81, of Sedalia, formerly of Stover, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2003 at Sylvia C. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia, Missouri. She was born June 13, 1922 in Easton, Missouri, the daughter of Peter Frederick and Mary Catherine Sullivan Karl. On July 6, 1946 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Jacob Weber in Chicago, Illinois, who preceded her in death on September 6, 1996. Mrs. Weber was raised and educated in Easton, Missouri where she graduated from high school. She moved to Chicago with her sister where she worked for SW Bell Telephone Company. In 1968, she and her husband moved to Stover, Missouri where they raised cattle. She was a member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Versailles, Missouri for many years and was a member of the Women’s Alter Guild. She moved to Sedalia in 1996 and became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading and crocheting. She is survived by five daughters, Mary Ann Reyburn, of Sedalia, Missouri, Dolores E. Marriott, of Gravois Mills, Valerie J Bloess of Sedalia, Missouri, Karen P Burr of Olathe, Kansas; Kathleen M. Metcalf, of Sunrise Beach; one sister, Margaret Gach of Carroll, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Weber; one granddaughter Nicole Weber; two sisters, Rose Miller and Agnes Vacco; and one brother, Thomas Karl. Mass was at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, August 30, 2003 at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Versailles, Missouri with Father Fred Barnett officiating. Burial was in the St. Patrick cemetery in Laurie, Missouri. Casketbearer were David Baer, Traci Marriott, Chris Riley, Jennifer Reyburn, Kyle Riley, Melissa Reyburn, Dru Bloess, and Teresa Stiles. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
Wenger L. Roy

L. Roy Wenger, age 77, of Versailles, MO, went to be with the Lord on Friday afternoon, October 24, 2003 at Golden Age Living Center in Stover, MO. He was born February 6, 1926 on the farm near Versailles, son of Jesse and Ella Lehman Wenger. Roy was united in marriage on September 19, 1948 to Glendola Alta Bentch in a double ceremony with his brother Paul and her sister, Lela at Mt. Zion Mennonite Church. Roy accepted Christ as Savior and was baptized at age 13 and was a member of Mt. Zion and Cornerstone Church of Versailles. He attended grade school at Prairie Valley and then Versailles High School. Roy went to CPS in lieu of military in 1944 to work on a dam in Hill City, South Dakota, and then to Pennsylvania to do dairy testing. Roy became a dairy farmer and in the late 50’s he began an International Implement business, Versailles Truck and Tractor. Roy enjoyed being a member of Gideon’s International. He was a loving husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. We will miss him greatly. Roy is survived by nine children. Seven daughters, Delores Miller and husband Marlin of Versailles, MO, Charlene Yoder and husband Cleo of Wolford, ND, Darlene Reimer and husband Leonard of Omaha, NE, Marilyn McKee and husband Michael of Omaha,NE, Janice Miller and husband Clifford of Versailles, MO, Judith Redcay and husband Elmer of Jefferson City, MO, Vivian Good and husband Jeff of Murphy, ID; two sons, Philip Wenger and wife Helen of Versailles, MO, and Frederick Wenger and wife Natasha of Jefferson City, MO; three brothers, Albert Wenger of Versailles, MO, Norman Wenger and wife Mary of Versailles, MO, and Paul Wenger and wife Lela of Hesston, KS; one sister, Bertha Swarr and husband Paul of Richmond, VA; 27 grandchildren, 1 step-grandson, and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Glendola in January 2003, two sisters, Barbara Wenger and Viola Ramer, an infant brother Emmanuel, also one infant daughter Grace, and one infant great-granddaughter, Lydia. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 27, at Cornerstone Church of Versailles, with Dale Bentch and Leonard Reimer officiating. Musicians will be Dan Wenger, Bob Wenger, Clifford Miller, Kerby Miller, and Jeremy Wenger. Interment will be in Mt. Zion cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kerby Miller, Brandon Redcay, Eric Stevens, Jake Good, Zachary Wenger, Micah Good, Aaron Wenger and Kelvin Wenger. Honorary pallbearers will be Galen Miller, Chet Yoder, Carlon Yoder, Nathan Redcay, Slava Puyat and Jeremy Wenger. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Gideon’s International or Cornerstone Church of Versailles. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
Six E. Mildred
Mildred E. Six, age 89, of Versailles, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2004 at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover. She was born July 8, 1915 at Gravois Mills, Missouri, the daughter of William S. and Lottie Cecil Webster Washburn. She was united in marriage on June 16, 1935 in Fulton, with Ralph Emerson Six, who preceded her in death on October 29, 1968. Mrs. Six was a homemaker, had worked for Woolsey & Yarger Law Firm in Versailles, and was a longtime member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Versailles. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Alexander of Kansas City, Kansas, and Barbara Marriott of Versailles; one sister, Shirley Bauer of Versailles; 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Washburn, Dr. J. Loren Washburn and Dr. William Otho Washburn. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 12, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Versailles, with Pastor Diane Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Versailles cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Slinker Peggy "Stacey"
Peggy “Stacey” Slinker, age 53, of Gravois Mills, passed away Sunday morning, November 7, 2004, at her home. She was born January 12, 1951, in Sanford, North Carolina, the daughter of Roscoe and Frieda Lou Fanning Oldham. She was united in marriage in Jackson County, Missouri, with Scott E. Slinker, who survives of the home. Stacey was a cook for various restaurants in the Laurie area for several years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Tony Corona of Stover, MO, and Joe Corona of Houston, TX; one daughter, Jennifer Corona of Houston, TX; one brother, John Oldham of Joplin, MO; two sisters, Jessie Couch of the state of Nevada, and Roxanne Oldham of Concord, CA; one grandson, Vincent Corona of Stover; several half-brothers and half-sisters; and many other relatives and friends. There will be a private family memorial service at a later date.

Carole E. Smith, age 57, of Fountain Inn, South Carolina, passed away Saturday morning, February 1, 2003 at Hillcrest Hospital in Simpsonville, South Carolina. She was born, November 7, 1945 in Gravois Mills, Missouri, the daughter of John and Elaine Power McKinley. Mrs. Smith was homemaker and nurses aid. She is survived by her mother, Elaine McKinley of Gravois Mills, Missouri; one son, Mark Smith of Greer South Carolina; one daughter, April Lambe of Simpsonville, South Carolina; four brothers, John McKinley of Plano, Texas, Richard McKinley of Collins, Missouri, Charles McKinley of Converse, Texas, and Mike McKinley of Bessemer, Alabama; one grandson, Aaron Lambe, and several step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, John McKinley. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Reverend Sidney Robbins officiating. Burial will be in the Holst cemetery in Gravois Mills. Deanna Lea Smith, age 60, of Versailles, passed away Saturday afternoon, August 30, 2003 near Gravois Mills. She was born December 29, 1942 in Duncan, Oklahoma, the daughter of Alexander and Loeta Williams May. She was united in marriage to Scott Smith in 1987. Mrs. Smith worked at Millstone Lodge Boutique near Laurie. She is survived her husband Scott Smith of the home; one daughter, Kimberlee Olesen of Gravois Mills; one son, Mark Sherard of Seattle, Washington; her father and mother, Alexander and Loeta May of Versailles; one brother Larry May of Spring Branch, Texas and two grandchildren, Corey and Taylor, many other relatives and friends. Memorial Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 6, 2003 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie. In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 7730 Carondelet Suite 135 St. Louis, Missouri 63105. Smith Harold "Bob" Robert
Robert “Bob” Harold Smith, age 68, of Versailles, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born July 26, 1936 at Nauvoo, Illinois, the son of the late Sherman and Garnett Sanders Smith. He was united in marriage on October 5, 1962 to Jean Happs in Keokuk, Iowa. Bob was a retired farmer, U.S. Army Veteran, avid hunter, fisher, and loved life in general. He is survived by his wife Jean Smith of the home; one son Roy Joseph Smith of Denmark, Iowa; two daughters, Melissa Ann Shaw of New London, Iowa, and Susie Belle Twyman of Versailles, one sister Ruth Bolte of Burlington, Iowa; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Memorial Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 9, 2004 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Smith Jo Deanna
Deanna Jo (Dye) Smith, age 44, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, passed away Wednesday morning, May 11, 2005 near her home. She was born April 19, 1961 in Salina, Kansas, on her father’s birthday. She was known to her friends as “Dee.” Her parents are Bobbie and Elan Olson Dye, of Assaria, Kansas. She is survived by her parents, her sister, Ronda Russell, of Assaria, Kansas, her brother-in-law, Randy Russell and her nephew, Ryan Russell, also of Assaria, Kansas; Other family members include her uncle and aunt, Bill and Helen Dye, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, her uncle and aunt, Clarence and Brenda Dye, of Farmington, New Mexico, her aunt, Kathy Johnson of Lincoln, Nebraska, and her aunt, Jolene Dye, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Deanna is also survived by her fiancé, Howard Waldrop, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, and many loving cousins and friends. Deanna was raised on a farm east of Assaria, Kansas, where her passion for the outdoors began. She loved horses and dogs. She learned to hunt and fish in her early teens and soon became an accomplished sportswoman. Deanna was baptized, confirmed and married
in the Assaria Lutheran Church, of Assaria, Kansas. She attended Southeast of Saline School and graduated in 1979. She was a member of the Mentor 4-H Club, the Salina Chapter of Job’s Daughters and many school clubs and organizations. As a child, Deanna learned to play the piano, clarinet, and guitar. In 1978, she helped her family build their new home east of Assaria. Deanna was a very talented painter, landscapes and animals being her favorite subjects. Following high school, she attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas for one year, where she expanded her interest in computers. Deanna’s first marriage brought her to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1981, where she began a new life, forming friendships and relationships dear to her heart. She remained in the lake area and remarried
in 1997. Deanna’s world focused on hard work and enjoying life to the fullest. She spent most of her time waitressing, but often held-down two or more jobs. She also worked in retail-sales, construction and plumbing. Deanna’s leisure hours were spent gardening, canning, hunting and picking blackberries. She loved her dogs. They were her constant companions, often sharing a fondness reserved for close family and friends. Deanna loved life and the lake. She enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. She could always be counted on to lend an ear, give a hand, share a smile or offer encouragement. She greatly looked forward to beginning a new life at her new lake home with her new husband, Howard, and his sons Chris and Aaron. Deanna will be greatly missed. Although she left us much too young and much too soon, her family knows that God needs special people, like Deanna, in heaven. If there are blackberry bushes in heaven, we know that God will be having jelly on his toast. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Smith Louella Ethel
Ethel Louella Smith, age 75, of Versailles, passed away Saturday morning, April 23, 2005 at her home. She was born July 7, 1929 at Boonville, Missouri, the daughter of Golden and Lydia A. Vaughan Williams. She was united in marriage on September 8, 1966 in Independence, MO with Burnice Smith, who survives of the home. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and member of the Barnett Baptist Church. In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, Ronnie Smith of Barnett, and Mike Smith of Stover; one daughter, Melva Vogt of Versailles; one brother, Thomas C. Williams of Versailles; two sisters, Juanita Campbell of Gravois Mills, and Patricia Farris of Jefferson City; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one son, Darrell Wayne Smith, and two brothers, George Williams and Merl Williams. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. Everett Rayl officiating. Vocal selections of “One Day At A Time” and “Beyond The Sunset” were played. Interment was in the Hopewell cemetery near Versailles. Memorials are suggested to the Barnett Baptist Church. Ruby Songer, age 54, formerly of Laurie, passed away Friday, July 1, 2005, at her home in Carthage, Missouri. She was born September 8, 1950, in Sedalia, the daughter of Robert and Ruby Van Riper Dore. Ruby was a waitress at various restaurants around the lake. She is survived by one son, Clint Montgomery of Dexter, MO; one daughter, Ramona Mason of Dexter, MO; four brothers, Mike Dore and Richard Dore both of Carthage, MO, and David Dore and John Dore both of Wichita, KS; three sisters, Evelyn Pryor of Springfield, MO, and Rosalie Deckard and Jane Johnson both of Carthage, MO; three grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Ruby was preceded in death by one brother Robert Dore, and two sisters, Trish Norman and Jean Bolin. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 7, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie. Inurnment will be in the Garber Memorial Estates cemetery in Laurie. Soper "Jan" Rachel
Rachel “Jan” Soper, age 82, of Laurie, Missouri passed away Monday morning, May 30, 2005 at her home. She was born March 28, 1923 in Garrad County, Kentucky, the daughter of Price and Grace Durbin Flannery. She was united in marriage on October 24, 1942 to Kenneth K. Soper who survives of the home. Jan was a card processor for Hallmark Cards and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sunrise Beach. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Soper of the home; one son Ken Soper of North Kansas City, Missouri; one daughter Kathy Goodwin of Liberty, Missouri; two brothers Bob Flannery and Milton Dean Flannery of Winchester, Kentucky; three sisters, Marie Brown of Liberty, Missouri, Virginia Simpson of St. Joseph, Missouri, Mary Frances Chipley of Kannapolis, North Carolina; three grandchildren Britney Soper, John Goodwin, Brian Goodwin; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Goodwin, Jason Goodwin, and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by six brothers. A Celebration of life will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 2, 2005 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie with Mearl Laswell officiating. Musical selections are “Going Down The Valley” and “Rock of Ages”. Della J. Spink, 1932-2003, Versailles Della J. Spink, 70, of Versailles, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born May 25, 1932, in Russellville, a daughter of Ray E. and Erma Klindt Jones. Surviving are three sons, Tim Lawrence of Thompson, Randall Eikel of Pikeville, Tenn., and Mike Eikel of LaGrange, Ga.; a daughter, Tammie Baker of LaGrange, Ga.; a brother, Earl Jones; two sisters, Wilma Righter and Juanita Cameron; 9 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Enloe cemetery near Russellville, with the Rev. Alan Earls officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.

Virgil Dene Stauffer, age 5 months, of Versailles, passed away Saturday morning, October 4, 2003 at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia. He was born April 16, 2003 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Missouri, the son of Reuben and Elizabeth L. Weaver Stauffer. He is survived by his parents, Reuben and Elizabeth Stauffer of the home; one brother, Christopher Stauffer of the home; paternal grandparents Alvin and Lizzie Stauffer, of New Holland, PA; maternal grandparents Noah and Edna Weaver, of Versailles, MO; paternal great-grandparents, Anna Stauffer of New Holland, PA, and Martin Zeiset of Narvon, PA; maternal great-grandparents Elizabeth Weaver of Fleetwood, PA, and Lydia Leid of Kutztown, PA; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, at Versailles Mennonite Church near Versailles, with Bishop Ray Weaver, Pastor Leroy Martin and Pastor Joel Martin officiating.
