ALLYNE SHEDDRICK
Allyne Sheddrick, 89, Independence, died Sunday, May 17, 1998, at the home of her son in Blue Springs.
Mrs. Sheddrick was born Oct. 31, 1908, in Brooklyn, Mo., grew up in Metz, Mo., and moved to Independence in 1942. She worked for Montgomery Wards for seven years, and retired from Russell Stovers Candies after 27 years of service. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Metz and Independence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. "Cot" Sheddrick in 1974, and a son, Paul R. Sheddrick Jr. on Sept. 2, 1997.
Her survivors include a son, M. Wayne Sheddrick, Blue Springs; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Sheldon-Booth Funeral Home, Rich Hill, Mo. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home in Blue Springs, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Rich Hill. The family suggests contributions to Hospice Care of St. Mary`s.
MARY C. STEYAERT
Mary Clarice Steyaert, 82, Independence, died Thursday, May 14, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.
Mrs. Steyaert was born Aug. 30, 1915, in Wrigley, Ky., and lived in Cleveland, Mo., from 1951 until moving to Independence in 1976. She was a homemaker and a charter member of the Country Meadows Baptist Church, where she served in the church nursery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. Steyaert in 1972, and a daughter, Gail Lisette Reichart in 1996.
Her survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Louis T. and Joan Steyaert, Bethesda, Md., Roger J. Steyaert, Lee`s Summit, and David J. Steyaert Jr. and Jennie, Aurora, Colo.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Joyce F. Brown, Independence, and Jane and Marty Sekulic, Round Lake, Ill.; a sister, Frances L. Evans, Polo, Mo.; and 14 grandchildren, Douglas, William and Nathan Sekulic, David Reichart and Tom Reichart, Paul J. and
Benjamin Lewis Steyaert, David J. Steyaert Jr., Pamela L. Reichart, Holly M. Stevens, Cynthia L. Morley, Gwendolyn A. Brown and Amanda L. Brown and Jen Clarice Steyaert.
Services were today at the church. Burial was in Sharon cemetery, Drexel, Mo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the building fund at the church or the American Heart Association.
Norma J. Goldsmith
Norma June Goldsmith, 70, Kingsville, formerly of Independence, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Goldsmith was born Sept. 9, 1929, in Orla, Mo. She was a 1948 graduate of Plato (Mo.) High School. She was a certified nurses assistant, and a farm wife. She was an active member of the Forest Grove Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, Mo. She married
Harley E. Goldsmith on March 24, 1949.
Her survivors include her husband, Harley, of the home; three daughters, Judy Gann and husband, Glen, Raymore, Mo., Lori Goldsmith-Ashley, South Carolina, and Vicki Lynn Anstine, Clinton, Mo.; three brothers, Danny Goldsmith, Blue Springs, Mark Goldsmith, Holden, Mo., and Eric Goldsmith, Weatherford, Texas; two sisters, Joretta Painter and Joy Jones, both of Lebanon, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the church, and at 1 p.m. Friday at the Embree Community Church, south of Plato. Burial will be in the Dutch Chapel cemetery, Plato. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the Williams Funeral Chapel, Holden. The family suggests contributions to the South Entrance Fund at Forest Grove Baptist Church, and may be left at the funeral home.
Willa M. 'Billie' Royer
Willa M. 'Billie' Royer, 78, Independence, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at the Medical Center of Independence.
Mrs. Royer was born Feb. 5, 1921, in Green Ridge, Mo., moving to Independence in 1960. She was a waitress for Golden Ox steakhouse, retiring in 1981. She was preceded in death by a son, William E. 'Cappy' Todd.
Her survivors include her husband of 26 years, Floyd Royer of the home; two sons, Willis Todd and Wayne Todd, both of Sedalia, Mo.; three daughters, Judith Ann Haag, Raytown, Janice Lea Stoor, Lee's Summit, and Dale LeAnn Callahan, Mayview, Mo.; one brother, William Roberts, Warsaw, Mo.; three sisters, Mary Fielder, Sedalia, Mabel Stephson, Independence, and Audrey Jones, Edgerton, Kan.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Heckart-Gillespie Funeral Home, Sedalia. Burial will be in Crown Hill cemetery, Sedalia. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Heckart -Gillespie.
Blanche E. Wallace
Blanche Etta Wallace, 81, Kansas City, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Wallace was born Sept. 29, 1918, in Tyron, Okla., and had lived in Independence most of her life. Recently, she resided at the Truman Medical Center Long-Term Care Facility. She worked at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant during World War II and into the early 1950s. She was a gifted artist. She worked for the Tierra Royal Pottery Co. in Kansas City, retiring in 1983. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Wallace.
Her survivors include three sons, David Webster, Redding, Calif., Larry Gene Martin, San Francisco, and Meriweather Lewis Jr., Rancho Cordova, Calif.; one daughter, Beverly Ingle, Raytown; two brothers, Liddy Norris, Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Millard Norris, Lexington, Mo.; one sister, Margie Wilson, Vista, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
Lois V. Wardlow
Lois V. Wardlow, 92, Independence, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at the Cedar Valley Health Center.
Mrs. Wardlow was born Nov. 19, 1907, in Logan, Kan.
Her survivors include three daughters, Doris Cahill, Independence, Helen Wardlow, Kansas City, and Virginia Goldman, Daytona Beach, Fla.; one son, Arnold Wardlow, Grandview; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City.
JAMES J. "JIM" SLANKARD SR.
James J. "Jim" Slankard Sr., 72, Holden, Mo., died Sunday, July 26, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Slankard was an Army veteran of World War II and served in Korea. He was a member of Holden American Legion Post 2, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1999, and the Charles S. Gleed Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a past cubmaster of Boy Scout Pack 284.
His survivors include his wife of 54 years, Gennylenn Slankard of the home; one son, James Slankard Jr., Holden; one brother, Bill Slankard, Blue Springs; one sister, Myrtle Inman, Lone Jack; five grandchildren: Austin Slankard, Michael Slankard, Jessica Slankard, Elizabeth Slankard and Sarah Slankard; and many nieces and nephews.

VINCENT L. PUTTHOFF
Vincent Lee Putthoff, 41, Lake Tapawingo, died Tuesday, March 17, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.
Mr. Putthoff was born March 25, 1958, in Kansas City. He was a roofer by trade, and a member of St. John LaLande Catholic Church, Blue Springs.
His survivors include his parents, Glennon Michael Putthoff and Jean Marie Putthoff of Lake Tapawingo; two brothers, Cris Putthoff, Austin, Texas, and Flip Putthoff, and his wife Debby, Larue, Ark.; and his fiance, Susan Thorp, Blue Springs.
Cremation. Memorial mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday St. John LaLande Catholic Church, Blue Springs. Arrangements are under the direction of the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs.
RALPH E. DAVIS
Ralph E. Davis, 77, Kansas City, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.
Mr. Davis was born April 26, 1922, in Edwards, Mo., and had lived in this area since 1954. He had worked in construction from 1951 to 1966. He also worked at Lake City Army Ammunitions Plant from 1966 until retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Blue Summit Baptist Church.
His survivors include his wife, Leona Davis of the home; his mother, Lulu Forth, Independence; a son, Jesse Davis, Cameron, Mo.; four sisters, Rosemary Jones and Elsie Doubnmeir, both of Independence, Ann Peters, Warsaw, Mo., and Virgie Oliver, Clinton, Miss.; a brother, Jim Forth, Calhoun, Mo.; and a grandson Jesse L. Davis II, Independence.

RAYMOND H. NORTON
Raymond H. Norton, 98, Blue Springs, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at St. Mary's Manor of Blue Springs.
Mr. Norton was born June 8, 1901, in Sweden, New York. He has lived in the Kansas City area since 1968.
He was preceeded in death by his wife of 68 years, Evelyn M. Norton, in 1997.
His survivors include a sister, Helen Szarlacki, Washington, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, William G. and Dorothy L. Norton, Independence; a daughter, Clara B. Foley, Mount Dora, Fla.; and 5 granddaughters, Linda Dennis, Sandy, Utah, Susie Brownrigg, Woodlands, Texas, Valerie Wanner, Sioux City, Iowa, Becky Suarez, Fairfax, Va., and Nadine Foley, Mount Dora, Fla.

DEBRA L. RAINES
Debra Louise Raines, 47, Buckner, formerly of Independence, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, following a car accident.
Mrs. Raines was born July 24, 1952, in King City, Mo. Her dream of owning her own restaurant became a reality when she opened Debby's Diner on U.S 40 Highway five years ago.
Her survivors include her husband, David, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Darin and Mary Raines, Independence; son and daughter-in-law, Dustin and Sara Raines, Buckner; father, Darrel 'Buck' Propes, Colorado Springs, Colo.; mother, Ermel Propes, Cosby, Mo.; three brothers, Donnie and Douglas, both of St. Joseph, and David, Kansas City, two sisters Dea, St. Joseph, Mo., and Dovie, Gower, Mo.; and four grandchildren, Tommi Lynn, Zack, Darby, and Jamison.

WILLIAM D. ROBISON
William D. Robison, 39, Kansas City, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.
Mr. Robison was born Sept. 13, 1960, in Kansas City. He was a cabinet maker, and an Air Force veteran. He was preceded in death by two sons.
His survivors include one son, Trevor Robison of the home; two daughters, Nichole Robison and Shannon Robison, both of Overland Park, Kan.; his parents, George and Peggy Robison, Blue Springs; his maternal grandmother, Ruby Powell, Kansas City; and two brothers, Fred Blaker, Oak Grove, and James Robison, Grandview.
Cremation. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, where a service will be held at 8 p.m.
GEORGE L. ROUCHKA JR.
George Lawrence Rouchka Jr., 53, Independence, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Rouchka was born Sept. 20, 1946, in Kansas City. He worked for General Motors for more than 30 years, and was a member of the United Auto Workers Union. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and was an avid outdoorsman.
His survivors include his wife of 31 years, Linda Rouchka of the home; two sons, Brian Rouchka and George R. Rouchka, both of Independence; three grandchildren, Michael, Ashley and Kody Rouchka; his mother, Gladys M. Rouchka, and a sister, Judy True, both of Independence; and one brother, John Rouchka, Raytown.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Chapel of Memories, Grain Valley. Burial will be in the Jackson County Veterans Field of Honor, Grain Valley. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the family.
MOHLER L. COTTEN
Mohler Lorenzo Cotten, 80, Wichita, Kan., died Saturday, March 15, 1997, in Wichita. Mr. Cotten was born April 24, 1916, in Natoma, Kan. He was a Navy veteran. He was a sheet metal worker and had retired from Beechcraft.
His survivors include his wife, Doris E. Cotten of the home; four sons, George Cotten, Austin, Texas, Forrest Cotten, Wichita, and Larry Cotten and Ricky Cotten, both of Derby, Kan.; a daughter, Pat Alley, Blue Springs; and 12 grandchildren.
Services were today at the Smith Mortuary, Derby, Kan. Burial was in El Paso cemetery, Derby.
THORALF K. OLTVEDT
Thoralf Kenneth Oltvedt, 77, Lee`s Summit, died Sunday, March 16, 1997, at the Columbia Independence Regional Health Center. Mr. Oltvedt was born in Minneapolis, Minn., and had lived in the Independence area since 1960. He worked for Electric Machinery in Minneapolis, Worthington Electric in New Jersey, and retired from Pitman Manufacturing/Emerson Electric in Grandview. While at Pitman, Oltvedt was sent to France to help educate country officials in how to use Pitman machinery. Oltvedt also helped establish a school of Pitman engineers in the United States. After he retired, he became a chaplain at the Sanitarium, continuing in that service at the Columbia Independence Regional Health Center until his death. He was also head of the audio/visual department at the RLDS Stone Church, an Elder in the RLDS, and a guide for many years at the RLDS Temple. He was also active with the Lee`s Summit Social Services. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II.
His survivors include his wife, Alice Oltvedt of the home; two sons, Gregory T. Oldtvedt, Minnetonka, Minn., and Reed Oltvedt, Kansas City; two daughters, Carol Carter, Blue Springs, and Shauna Holmes, Fort Washington, Md.; one stepdaughter, Glenda F. Johnson, Independence; one sister, Irene Shuster, Brooklyn Center, Minn.; 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the RLDS World Hunger Fund, the Temple Endowment Fund, or to the Lee`s Summit Social Services Fund.
