THELMA M. GARRISON
Thelma M. (Jones) Garrison, 87, Raytown, died Wednesday, July 23, 1997, at Research Medical Center.
Mrs. Garrison was born in Carthage, Mo. She was a cashier for the Jones Store Co. before she retired.
Her survivors include one daughter, Jawana Ozburn, Raytown; one brother, Clyde Case, Independence; two sisters, Nellie Resch, Independence, and Iva Wiscarver, Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Hickory Point cemetery, Greenridge, Mo.Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Association.
FRANK MCKAY
Frank McKay, 89, Blue Springs, died Tuesday, July 22, 1997, in Blue Springs.
Mr. McKay was born July 8, 1997, in Holden, Mo. He was a farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church of Blue Springs.
His survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lucille Starr McKay of the home; one daughter, Barbara McKay, Independence; two grandchildren, Debbie Bailey and Michael Knight; and four great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Tabitha, Nicholas and Travis.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs. Burial will be in Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to Blue Springs Hospice.
JOHN P. MORGAN
John Paul Morgan, 68, Los Angeles, formerly of Independence, died Saturday, July 5, 1997, at his home.
Mr. Morgan was born March 27, 1929, in Independence, and had lived in California most of his adult life. He was a travel agent.
His survivors include his mother, Bessie M. Morgan, Harrisonville, Mo.; and one sister, Jane Rahn, Los Angeles.
Cremation, with memorial graveside services at3 p.m. Friday at Mound Grove cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home in Harrisonville.
MARY V. McKINNEY
Mary Velva McKinney, 66, Independence, died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at her home.
Mrs. McKinney was born Nov. 23, 1932, in Kansas City. She was a member of Souls Harbor Church.
Her survivors include her husband, Wade McKinney of the home; a daughter, Junett Blatt; sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy D. and Debi McKinney, Darrell D. and Vicky McKinney, Daniel M. and Vivian McKinney, David M. and Christina McKinney, all of Independence; a sister, Barbara Bowman, a brother, Everett Barksdale, both of Lowry City, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.
EDNA HOBBS
Edna Hobbs, 86, Independence, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City.
Mrs. Hobbs was born Feb. 21, 1912, in Grain Valley and was a lifelong resident of Grain Valley. She was a member of the RLDS Stone Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Joe Hobbs on Jan. 14, 1982.
Her survivors include two sons, Wayne Hobbs, Independence, and Edward Hobbs, Richmond, Va.; two daughters, Beverly Boyd, Hamilton, Mo., and Jeanette Melton, Independence; a brother, Ret. Lt. Col. B.A. Snodgrass, Atlantic Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Knights Templar Eye Foundation.
MARY E. COUTTS
Mary Evelyn Coutts, 95, Ashtabula, Ohio, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, at a nursing home in Ashtabula.
Mrs. Coutts was born May 22, 1903, and was a former resident of Kansas City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Coutts, and two children, George Antonio and Ruth Slay.
Her survivors include three daughters, Thelma Brown and Katherine "Kitty" Shineman, both of Independence, and Viola Canter, Columbiana, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services and burial were Wednesday in Ashtabula. Arrangements were under the direction of Zaback Funeral Home, Ashtabula.
FRANCES R. DeANGELO
Frances Rose DeAngelo, 76, Kansas City, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, at her home.
She was born Dec. 1, 1921. She was a lifelong resident of Kansas City's northeast neighborhood. She graduated from Northeast Senior High School in 1937. She was an accomplished pianist and made her first professional appearance at age 16 on a weekly 15-minute program on radio station KXBY. She was an execute secretary and worked for many business firms and non-profit groups in Kansas City. Her last position was with Roto-Rooter. She was a member of The Friends of Corinthian Hall and was dedicated to preserving the Kansas City Museum. She worked on the yearly Scarrit Renaissance Neighborhood homes tours.
Her survivors include her brothers, Frank DeAngelo, Rancho Mirage, Calif., and Pete DeAngelo, Gladstone, Mo., and a sister, Dory DeAngelo of Kansas City; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at noon at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 5100 St. John. Friends may call from 5 to 7 tonight at the Sheil Funeral Home, 6606 Independence Avenue, where the prayer service will be at 6 p.m. The family suggests contributions to the Friends of Corinthian Hall, in care of the Kansas City Museum or to the St. Aloysius Church Food Pantry, 2611 East 11th, Kansas City, Mo. 64127.
ROBERT I. FULLER
Robert Irvin Fuller, 83, Independence, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Fuller was born Dec. 28, 1914, in Wilcox, Mo., and had lived in Independence most of his life. He was a self-employed truck
driver for 45 years, retiring in 1977. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Fuller.
His survivors include a daughter, Marion R. Moore, Independence; two sisters, Alberta Lyons and Roberta Madden, both of Kansas City; two grandchildren; and five great-granddaughters.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel. Burial will be in Brooking cemetery, Raytown. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Independence Regional Health Center Hospice.
DREXEL LINCOLN
Drexel Lincoln, 89, Independence, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Lincoln was born Feb. 15, 1909, in Fremont, Neb. He had been a poultry handler. He had been a member of Carlisle Baptist Church, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda.
His survivors include his wife, Nora E. Lincoln of the home; a daughter, Betty Hensley, Lakewood, Colo.; five sons, Gordon Lincoln, Jack Lincoln, Truman Lincoln, Wayne Lincoln and Larry Lincoln; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Leavenworth National cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Monday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. GARY D. PRINCE
Gary D. Prince, 52, Independence, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Prince was born April 3, 1946, in Kansas City. He lived in the Independence area his entire life. He served as a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. He worked at AGCO for 30 years. He was active in the United Steel Workers Local Union 1958, serving three years as vice president and three years as president. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1000.
His survivors include his wife, Karen Prince of the home; his children, Phillip and Melanie, also of the home; his mother, Gracie Prince, Independence; a sister, Connie Joyce, Independence; and many other relatives.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Independence. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. The family suggests contributions to Cancer Action or to the American Cancer Society.
ANGUS E. "BUD" WILLIAMSON
Angus E. "Bud" Williamson, 92, Independence, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.
Mr. Williamson was born Oct. 22, 1905, in Independence and had lived in Independence most of his life. He was co-owner and operator of Young and Williamson Standard Service Station in Independence for 10 years, retiring in 1968. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Independence, and a graduate of William Chrisman High School.
His survivors include his wife, Juanita Parrett Williamson of the home; and two sisters, Dorothy Wahrenbrock and Frances Burk, both of Independence.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, 100 N. Pleasant St., Independence, Mo. 64050.
KENNETH D. ANDERSON
Kenneth Duane Anderson, 71, Independence, died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at Research Medical Center.
Mr. Anderson was born March 6, 1927, in Kansas City, and had lived in Independence for the past 20 years. He was a shop manager for Yellow Freight Truckline. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
His survivors include a son, Jeffery D. Anderson, Independence; three daughters, Lisa J. Anderson, Austin, Texas, Kendra D. Minnick, Rayville, Mo., and Laura L. Mineo, Independence; his mother, Viola M. McGovney, Oak Grove; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Newcomer`s Noland Road Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel.
THOMAS F. BOUTROSS
Thomas F. Boutross, 69, died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, in Kansas City.
Mr. Boutross graduated with a bachelor`s degree in philosophy from Bonaventure University in New York. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He then attended the University of Southern California School of Cinema working towards his master`s degree in communications. He was a member of the Director`s Guild of America and the Film Editors Guild. He worked on Disney`s wildlife shows on the Wonderful World of Color and Hanna-Barbara`s Banana Splits.
His survivors include his three brothers, George Boutross, Oak Grove, John Boutross, Independence, and Pete Boutross, Comanche, Texas; three sisters, Rosebud Welker, Colorado Springs, Colo., Lucille Bergin and Agnes Walters, both of Independence; and other relatives.
Visitation and rosary was today at St. Ann`s Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann`s Catholic Church, 10109 E. Lexington, Independence. Internment will be in St. Mary`s Catholic cemetery.
EVA G. HOPKINS
Eva Grace Hopkins, 71, Wellington, Mo., died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at the home of her son in Wellington.
Mrs. Hopkins was born April 13, 1927, in Purvis, Mo., and had lived in Wellington for the past 47 years. She had worked as a machine operator at S&K Industries, Lexington, Mo. She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Hopkins on Jan. 11, 1977.
Her survivors include three sons, Randy E. Hopkins, Independence, Ray Hopkins, Wellington, and Aubrey E. Hopkins Jr., Linn Creek, Mo.; a daughter, Laura Mullins, Odessa; three brothers, William F. Fields, Kenneth E. Fields and Henry L. Fields, all of Versailles, Mo.; 29 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Snow Funeral Home, Wellington. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Conway cemetery, Osage Beach, Mo. Friends may call from 7 to 8 tonight at the Snow Funeral Home. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.
FLORENCE "FLO" I. KING
Forence "Flo" I. King, 78, Eastgate Village, Peculiar, Mo., died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at Research Medical Center.
Mrs. King was born April 23, 1920, in Kansas City. She worked for many years for Waids and Hoopers Cafe and later worked for Electronic Business Equipment and Danka Industries, retiring from Danka Industries in 1990 after 12 years of service. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 18. She was preceded in death by a grandson.
Her survivors include a daughter, Judy Surls, Peculiar, Mo.; a son, James F. Anthony, Yuma, Ariz.; a brother, Bruce R. Copenhaver, Grain Valley; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
