GERTRUDE E. CULLEN
Gertrude E. Cullen, 79, Independence, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 1997, at the Medical Center of Independence.
Mrs. Cullen was born July 3, 1918, in Independence and had lived most of her life in Independence. She was a presser for many years with Johnson Cleaners and A&M Cleaners, both of Independence. She was a member of the Enoch Hill RLDS Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas G. Cullen in 1982.
Her survivors include a son, Michael T. Cullen, Independence; two daughters, Louise E. Kendall, Kalispell, Mont., and Jeannette Coffman, Grain Valley; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.
EDWIN C. GRAMLICH
Edwin Clarence Gramlich, 66, Kansas City, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at his home.
Mr. Gramlich was born March 4, 1931, in Peoria, Ill. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the church choir and the Young at Heart. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion. He was a member of Good Sams Club and American Association of Retired Persons. His survivors include his wife, Doris Gramlich of the home; a daughter, Carol Ackerson, Kansas City; three brothers, Russell Gramlich, Raytown, Gerald Gramlich, Independence, and Donald Gramlich, Blue Springs; his mother-in-law, Esther Mehner of the home; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Edgar and Hallie Reynolds; sister-in-law, Barbara Mehner; and two grandchildren, Kip and Drew Ackerson.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, 8240 Blue Ridge Boulevard. Burial will be in Brooking cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The family suggests contributions to the Peace Lutheran Church, Kendallwood Hospice or Cancer Action.
THOMAS F. HOUSE
Thomas F. House, 75, Kansas City, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at North Kansas City Hospital.
Mr. House was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Buckner. He was a new car salesman for many years at area dealerships. He was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church.
His survivors include his wife, Lora House of the home; a brother, James House, Grain Valley; and a sister, Wilma Mueller, Grain Valley.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel.
MURLIN R. "ROGER" ROGERS
Murlin R. "Roger" Rogers, 58, Blue Springs, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 1997, at St. Mary`s Hospital of Blue Springs.
Mr. Rogers was born Nov. 5, 1938, in Smith County, Kan. He worked in the truck maintenance department of Consolidated Freightways. He was a member of Teamsters` Local 552.
His survivors include his wife, Johanna Rogers, Blue Springs; two daughters, Jennifer Stevens and Theresa Van Ommeren, both of Blue Springs; four brothers, Jim Rogers, Smith Center, Kan., Charles Rogers, Hays, Kan., Jeff Rogers, Elkhorn, Neb., and Jerry Rogers, White City, Kan.; and two grandchildren, Shayna and Jacob Stevens.
Cremation with private memorial services. Arrangements are under the direction of D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Blue Springs Chapel.
ANNA HELENE BAILEY
Anna Helene Bailey, 82, Independence, died Friday, June 6, 1997, at Columbia Independence Regional Health Center.
Mrs. Bailey was born in North Kansas City. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a financial office manager for the Kansas City Holton Truck Line for 13 years. She was a member of the RLDS Heritage House Congregation. She had been a youth and women`s leader at the RLDS Bennington Heights Congregation in Kansas City. She was married
to her husband Charles for 62 years.
Her survivors include her husband, Charles, of the home; a son, Lee Bailey, Independence; a daughter, Wilma Brady, Barnwell, S.C.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Newcomer`s Noland Road Chapel. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Newcomer`s Noland Road Chapel.
FRANK BEHEE
Frank Behee, 56, Independence, died Monday, June 2, 1997 at his home.
Mr. Behee was born Nov. 16, 1940, in Kansas City. He was self-employed as an auctioneer for 20 years. He also worked at HEMCO as a production specialist for 10 years.
His survivors include his wife, Joyce Behee, Independence; four daughters, Christy Behee, Independence, Jenny McCubbin, Lincoln, Mo., Thelma Francis, Casdorf, Mo., Lori Ann Brown, Delaware, Mo.; two sons, Jimmy Gilcrest and Franklin Behee, both of Independence; three step-sons, Matthew Waters, Christopher Morrison and Justin Morrison, all of Independence; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at HEMCO, 111 Powell Road in Independence. Memorial contributions may be made to HEMCO c/o Frank Behee Fund.
ROBERT L. DELMONT
Robert Louis Delmont, 85, Bolivar, Mo., died Thursday, June 5, 1997, at the Golden Years Care Center, Harrisonville, Mo.
Mr. Delmont was born June 30, 1911, in Harrisonville and had lived in East Lynne, Mo., and Peculiar, Mo., before moving to Bolivar 10 years ago. He was a machinist for Bendix until retiring in 1978. He was a Methodist.
His survivors include his wife, Opal Delmont, Bolivar; two daughters, Roberta Rand, Sand Springs, Okla., and Carol Garrett, Independence; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Burial will be in the Pitts Chapel cemetery, Harrisonville. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel.
PAULINE M. MARTEL
Pauline M. Martel, 67, Independence, died Thursday, June 5, 1997, at the Medical Center of Independence.
Mrs. Martel was born March 2, 1930, in Kansas City and lived most of her life in this area. She had been a clerk at the TG&Y store in Independence for 10 years, retiring in 1980. She had been a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
Her survivors include her husband, Ray Martel, of the home; three sons, Raymond A. Martel Jr. and James M. Martel, both of Independence, and Robert L. Martel, Lee`s Summit; three daughters, Pauline M. Moyer, Lone Jack, Patricia Hazelrigg, Blue Springs, and Paula Rumsey, Warrensburg, Mo.; two sisters, Donna Rinehart, Odessa, Mo., and Frances Schulenberg, Sugar Creek; 15 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call 7 to8:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. The family suggest contributions to the charity of your choice.
HAROLD D. VARNER
Harold Don Varner, 71, Napoleon, Mo., died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Trinity Lutheran Hospital. Mr. Varner was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Macks Creek, Mo., and had lived in Napoleon for the past 39 years. He was an autoworker for General Motors before he retired, where he had been a member of the United Auto Workers Union, Local 93, for more than 30 years. He was a military policeman in Europe for the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, and also served with the Merchant Marines in Japan and the Philippines prior to his Army service. His survivors include his wife, Ingrid Varner of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia L. and Robert L. Adams, and a grandson, Josef L. Adams, all of Napoleon; and one brother, Edwin Varner, Raytown. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove.
VIVIAN M. REED
Vivian Mae Cox Reed of Independence, died Friday, March 12, 1999, at Research Hospital. Mrs. Reed was born Sept. 19, 1911, in Alton, Kan. She came to Kansas City after completing high school and worked at the W.T. Grant Co. She was the first woman to graduate from the Kansas City Conservatory of Music's Piano Technician Training Program. She retired from Weyer Beauty and Barber Supply in 1975. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Raymond Reed in March 1952. Her survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Morrison, Independence, and children, Stephanie Gamble, and husband Brad of Odessa, and Scott Morrison of Kansas City; one son, Ronald R. Reed, and wife, JoAnn, and children, Jason and Gabrielle, Buena Park Calif.; and three great-grandchildren, Lacey and Lindsey Gamble, and Marshall Jake Morrison. Cremation. Memorial services are pending.
WENDELL R. CRAYTON
Wendell R. Crayton, 75, Independence, died Thursday, July 22, at Climax Springs, Mo.
He was born April 16, 1924, in Pittsville, Mo. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired as Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of VFW Post 1000. He owned Crayton Siding in Independence from 1962 until his retirement in 1986. He moved to Climax Springs in 1990 and served on the Volunteer Coffman Bend Fire Department.
He is survived by wife, Carolee Crayton; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Steve Rounds, Independence; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Susie Crayton, Independence; step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Margaret Griffin and Duke, Independence; step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Rick and Melonee Burris, Kansas City; step-son Ronnie Burris; daughter-in-law, Sheryl Burris, Liberty, Mo.; brothers, Donnie Crayton, Belton, Mo., Bobbie Ray Crayton, Independence, Bill Crayton, Kansas City, LeRoy Crayton, Appleton City, Mo.; sisters, Joan Moore, Fairgrove, Mo., and Roberta Dines, Appleton City, Mo.; 15 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday at George C. Carson and Sons Home, with burial following at Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Monday.

JAMES L. EVANS
James Lenox Evans, 47, Blue Springs, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at Liberty Hospital.
Mr. Evans was born in Waynesville, Mo., and had lived in the area for the past 11 years. He was a senior field consultant with MO/KS Region IBP Inc. for the past eight years.
His survivors include his wife, Carol L. Evans, Blue Springs; two daughters, Sarah E. Evans, Eldon, Mo., and Lindsey M. Nelson, Blue Springs; his parents, Harry and Vernita Evans, and one sister, Sharlene Pietsch, all of Rolla, Mo.; a niece, Christa M. Copp; and a nephew, Eric E. Pietsch.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Rolla City cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the City Union Mission, 1108 E. 10th St., Kansas City, Mo. 64106.
PATRICIA L. BROWN
Patricia Lynn Brown, 42, Olathe, Kan., died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, in the Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 28, 1956, in Hannibal, Mo. She worked at First Mortgage Title Co.
Survivors include two daughters, Megan and Emily Brown, Belton, Mo.; her father Bobbie Stroker, Vandalia, Mo.; her mother and step-father Geraldine and Alvin Stout, Independence; brother Ronald Blentlinger, Louisiana, Mo.; step-brother Alvin E. Stout Jr., Arkansas City, Kan.; step-sisters Debbie Foster, Ponca City, Okla., and Kathy Kubick, New Kirk, Okla.; and an uncle Larry Husk, Bowling Green Mo.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore, Mo. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. All arrangements are under the direction of the Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore.
JOHN D. WILMOT
John D. Wilmot, 89, Independence, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Wilmot was born Oct. 18, 1908, in St. Joseph, Mo. He was Body Shop manager for Bill Gilmore Pontiac and Cadillac, now known as Galen Boyer. His wife of 60 years, Helen K. Wilmot, died in 1993.
His survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Sue Ann Wilmot, Lee`s Summit, Mary Kay Boutross, Cincinnati, Helen W. and Bob Hammer, Kansas City, and Janet and Dennis Roehl, Lee`s Summit; a sister, Elizabeth Wilhelm, Liberty, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ann`s Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the church.
JOSEPH S. SALUTO
Joseph Salvatore Saluto, 70, Independence, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Saluto was born Oct. 4, 1929, in Kansas City, and had lived in this area most of his life. He was a masonry contractor for many years, and was a member of Bricklayers Union Local 4. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of Sugar Creek Moose Lodge 10. He attended Outreach Missionary Baptist Church in Blue Springs.
His survivors include his wife, Bonnie Saluto of the home; three children, Vincent Saluto, Lake Lotawana, and Jim Saluto and Debbie Mason, both of Independence; four stepchildren, Sid Adamson, Raytown, and Robert Adamson, Mike Adamson and Todd Adamson, all of Independence; seven grandchildren; six step grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Steve Saluto, Northeast Kansas City, and Tom Saluto, Bel Air, Calif.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Lobb cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel. GENEVA A. PALMER
Geneva A. Palmer, 87, Independence, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at the Rosewood Care Center.
Miss Palmer was born Nov. 15, 1911, in West Plains, Mo., and had lived in the Independence area since 1945. She was a civil service employee for more than 30 years. She enjoyed traveling after her retirement, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Independence.
She is survived by a sister, Hazel Clark of Independence; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were today at Mount Washington cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society or the church.
