GEORGE W TRITLE JR.

George W. Tritle Jr., 68, Independence, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. Tritle was born Sept. 26, 1930, in Kansas City, Kan., and was a lifelong area resident. He retired in 1996 from Truman Medical Center-East, and was a member of Calvary Sounds Church.

His survivors include his wife of 45 years, Loretta Tritle of the home; two sons, George A. Tritle, Independence, and Mike L. Tritle, Kansas City; two daughters, Wanda M. Braden and Sherry B. Crain, and one brother, Benny Tritle, all of Independence; two sisters, Georgia Alber and Margie Hazard, both of Kansas City, Kan.; and four grandsons.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. The family suggests contributions to Calvary Sounds Church, 2119 N. Whitney Road, Independence, Mo 64058. Arrangements are under the direction of New Salem Funeral Home.

ELSIE K. ROWE

Elsie K. Rowe, 90, Independence, died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at the Rosewood Care Center. Mrs. Rowe was born April 3, 1908, in Pittsburg, Mo., and moved to this area as a young girl. She was a member of the Independence Christian Union Church and a homemaker. She attended Antioch School and church when she was young. Her survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Retha and Glenn Mallott; one sister, Delta Tuttle; three grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, George E. and Joan Lynn, Larry E. and Penny Lynn and Michael R. and Lynda Mallott; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the chapel.

DOROTHEA E. LOVEALL

Dorothea E. Loveall, 72, Lone Jack, died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at her home. Mrs. Loveall was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Hartford, Kan., and had lived in Lone Jack for more than 20 years. She retired from the Unity School of Christianity in 1992. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Loveall. Her survivors include three sons, Michael L. Loveall, Lee's Summit, Richard D. Loveall, Fairplay, Mo., and Brian E. Loveall, Kansas City; two daughters, Kathryn Loveall, Columbia, Mo., and Karen Loftis, Lone Jack; three brothers, John Link, Stilwell, Kan., Elmer Link, Kansas City, and Eugene Link, Osceola, Mo.; two sisters, Marie Evans and Mildred Robinson, both of Kansas City; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Langsford Funeral Home, Lee's Summit. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6:30 to 7:30 tonight at the funeral home, where a rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m.

ASHLEY D. BRIDGES

Ashley Dean Bridges, 32, Independence, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at his home.

Mr. Bridges was born Oct. 1, 1966, in Butler, Mo., and had lived in Adrian, Mo., before moving to Independence at an early age. He was a carpenter for CMW Construction and had been a printer with Treasure Chest Printing. He was a member of the Disciple of Jesus Christian Fellowship. He was preceded in death by a sister, Melissa Widmer in 1995, and his grandparents, Alvin and Ruby Bridges, and Leonard Jackson.

His survivors include his father and stepmother, Alvin and Sue Bridges, Climax Springs, Mo.; his mother, Linda Bridges, Independence; two stepbrothers, Tracy Myers, Deepwater, Mo., and Lance Long, Independence; a stepsister, Carrie Carlson, Kansas City; maternal grandmother, Virginia Jackson, Adrian; and maternal stepgrandmother, Ethel Autry, Harrisonville, Mo.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Graveside services and burial will be 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Crescent Hill cemetery, Adrian. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel.

KATHERINE J. CAIRNS

Katherine J. Cairns, 74, Independence, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at Columbia Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Cairns was born March 29, 1923, in Kansas City, Kan., and had lived in Independence since 1937. She was a 1946 graduate of St. Mary`s Academy and had attended the College of Commerce. She was vice president of Cairns Flowers for 34 years, retiring in 1986. She was active in Missouri State Florist Association and the Society of American Florist. She and her husband were florists to President and Mrs. Harry S. Truman. She was also a member of the Missouri Humane Society. She was a member of St. Mary`s Catholic Church and the St. Mary`s Guild for many years, but was currently a member of St. Mark`s Catholic Church.

Her survivors include her husband of 51 years, Thomas D. Cairns of the home; three nephews, Dr. James Gracheck, Leawood, Kan., Dr. Stephen Gracheck, Ann Arbor, Mich., and William Gracheck, Albuquerque, N.M.; and three cousins.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary`s Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 tonight at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Noland Road Chapel, where the rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m.

MARY L. LAURITZEN

Mary Louise Lauritzen, 80, Independence, died Feb. 5, 1998, at the Baptist Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 6, 1917, In Lebanon, Mo., and had lived in Kansas City before moving to Independence 31 years ago. She was a member of the Sycamore Hills Baptist Church. She was also a 50-year member of the Blue Springs Rebekah Lodge, where she was treasurer for 15 years. She was past Noble Grand and Past President of the Rebekah Assembly of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry E. Lauritzen, in 1983.

Her survivors include her son, Frederick James Laurtizen, Kansas City, Kan.; a daughter, Barbara Lee Sharp, Lee`s Summit; two sisters, Willeta Smith, Overland Park, Kan., and Pauline Jones, Raytown; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Rebekah Lodge memorial services will be immediately prior to the 11 a.m. Tuesday funeral services at the D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Noland Road Chapel. Burial will be in Green Lawn cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the Chapel.

STEVEN R. "RICK" MANNING

Steven Richard "Rick" Manning, 45, Odessa, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, in Odessa.

Mr. Manning was born Sept. 30, 1952, in Odessa, and was a lifelong Odessa resident. He had been owner/manager of Manning Appliance Service and Sales in Odessa since 1991, and had worked for AT&T in Lee`s Summit from 1977 to 1987. He was a 1972 graduate of Odessa High School and was a four-year letterman in wrestling. He was a race car driver, street car class, at I-70 Speedway from 1977-1981. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

His survivors include his wife, Julie Lynne Coskey Manning of the home; a son, Michael Wayne Manning, Odessa; two daughters, Wendy Jo Manning, Nashville, Tenn., and April Lynne Manning of the home; three brothers, Harold A. Manning, Kansas City, Clifton L. "C.L." Manning, Lee`s Summit, and Ron Manning, Odessa.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Ralph O. Jones Chapel, Odessa. Burial will be in Greenton cemetery, Odessa. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Odessa Ambulance Service.

EULA M. MOORE

Eula Marie Moore, 77, Grain Valley, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at St. Joseph Health Center.

Mrs. Moore was born March 20, 1920, in Lamar, Mo., and had lived in Grain Valley for the past 40 years. She was a custodian for the Grain Valley Civic Center, and a member of the Grain Valley First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard N. Moore in 1971, and a grandson, Billy Gregg.

Her survivors include two sons, Denzil "Scotty" Moore, Golden City, Mo., and Leonard Moore Jr., Holden, Mo.; six daughters, Esther Perry, Independence, Katheleen Pycior, Raytown, Shirley Schriever, Bates City, Carol Powers, Odessa, Dorothy Drummond, Lone Jack, and Nancy Bushey, Grain Valley; 27 grandchildren; and 55 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. Burial will be in Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

DELBERT H. SIMPSON

Delbert H. Simpson, 81, Blue Springs, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at St. Mary`s Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mr. Simpson was born Aug. 10, 1916, in Sibley and had lived in Blue Springs for 40 years. He was a real estate agent. He was a member of the American Legion Post 499, Blue Springs, a lifetime member of VFW Post 1000, a 32nd degree Mason of Masonic Lodge 76, both of Independence, and was a Shriner of Jackson County 313. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. His survivors include his wife, Dorothy Simpson of the home; two daughters, Linda A. Harrell, Buckner, and Diane Nelson, Independence; a sister, Lucille Dodson, Blue Springs; two brothers, Johnny Simpson and Charlie Simpson, both of Independence; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial, with VFW services, will be in the Buckner cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. at the chapel.

ELMA B. ALDRIDGE

Elma B. Van Riette Aldridge, 98, Independence, died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997, in the Rosewood Health Care Center, where she lived.

Mrs. Aldridge was born Jan. 3, 1899, in Rich Hill, Mo., and moved to this area in the 1920s. She was self-employed, owning and operating the Maid-Rite Sandwich Shop in Independence and Welborn`s Grocery in Blue Springs. She was a member of the Rosewood RLDS congregation. She was preceded in death by her son, W.H. Welborn.

Her survivors include a granddaughter, Renee Wells, Grenola, Kan.; a grandson, Rocky Welborn, Wichita, Kan.; six great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were today at Mound Grove cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Salvation Army. Arrangements were under the direction of the Speaks Memorial Chapel.

HILDA M. BRUMFIELD

Hilda M. Brumfield, 83, Independence, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997, at Columbia Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Brumfield was born on Oct. 28, 1913, in St. Paul, Neb., and lived in Sioux City, Iowa, before moving to Independence in 1940. She attended nursing school in Sioux City. She worked for The Salvation Army for 32 years, retiring in 1976. She had been a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Auxiliary Lodge 50, and the Tea Cup Square Dancing Club.

Her survivors include her husband of 63 years, Frank K. Brumfield of the home; two daughters, Frances Nonnweiler and Eva Barnes, both of Independence; a son, Frank L. Brumfield, Kansas City; grandchildren, Venus Hegle and Star Tebbe, both of Independence, David Brumfield, Grandview, Frank S. Brumfield, El Dorado Springs, Mo., and Robert Brumfield, Kansas City; a step-grandson, Edward Nonnweiler, Milwaukee, Wis.; three great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to The Salvation Army, 3637 Broadway, Kansas City, Mo. 64111.

CHARLES A. FERGUSON

Charles A. Ferguson, 90, Independence, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997, at Columbia Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. Ferguson was born in Wellston, Ohio, and lived in Columbus, Ohio, before moving to this area in 1976. He worked for The Press of Hollenback for 50 years, retiring as plant superintendent in 1972. He was a member of the East 39th Street RLDS congregation and held the office of patriarch evangelist. He had previously been the pastor of the North Columbus (Ohio) RLDS congregation for 27 years, and had been a member of the Southern Ohio District Presidency. In 1946, the Mayor of Columbus presented him with a certificate honoring him as the Father of the Year. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Ferguson in 1980, and a son, Robert C. Ferguson in 1964.

His survivors include his wife, A.Marie Ferguson of the home; three sons, Donald G. Ferguson, Columbus, John R. "Jack" Ferguson, Independence, and Ed Ferguson, Boise, Idaho; five stepsons, Jay Glandon, Charlotte, Mich., Joseph R. Glandon, Columbus, David E. Glandon, Springfield, Va., John L. Glandon, Independence, and Robert A. Glandon, Lampasas, Texas; a stepdaughter, Donna Orbegoso, Bayamon, Puerto Rico; a sister, Helen Dougherty, Columbus; 12 grandchildren; 17 stepgrandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the South India Mission, in care of the World Church, 2001 S. High, Independence, Mo. 64055 or to the Boise Education Foundation, Taft School, 1207 Fort St., Boise, Idaho 83702.

LOUIE P.K. HERNANDEZ

Louie Pony Keith Hernandez, 11 months, Independence, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997.

Louie was born Sept. 26, 1996, in Independence. His survivors include his parents, Pony Hernandez and Carolyn Persinger; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Persinger; paternal grandparents, Juan Hernandez Jr. and Alicia Menchaca; uncles, Jacky Bresee, Eric Hernandez, Juan Hernandez, Joe Menchaca and Abel Salazar; and his aunts, Cora Pearce, Peggy Persinger, Judy Mohrenberg, Veronica Hernandez, Leslie Menchaca and Nena Menchaca. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Charter Funerals/Blue Ridge Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 5:30 to 7:30 tonight at the chapel.

RUTH E. MacDONALD

Ruth E. MacDonald, 78, Blue Springs, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997, at Columbia Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. MacDonald was born Dec. 23, 1918, in De Witt, Mo., and had lived in Blue Springs for 30 years. She was a homemaker.

Her survivors include her husband, George MacDonald of the home; a son, Danny MacDonald, Independence; two sisters; a brother; and two grandchildren.

Cremation. Arrangements are under the direction of the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel.

MARY I. MARTIN

Mary Imogene Bradley Martin, 69, Sedalia, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997, at Monterey Park Nursing Home.

Mrs. Martin was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Sedalia. She was raised and in educated in Sedalia and graduated from Smith Cotton High School in 1947. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for many years. She was a homemaker and a member of Victory Worship Center in Sedalia.

Her survivors include a son, Randy Martin, Sedalia; a daughter, Terry Frerking, Blue Springs; a brother, Lloyd Bradley, Versailles, Mo.; a sister, Betty Dittmer, Sedalia; and five grandchildren.

Services were today at the McLaughlin Brothers Funeral Chapel, Sedalia. Burial was in Crown Hill cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Mary Imogene Martin Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral chapel.

VERNA MCGRATH

Verna Franke McGrath, 79, Blue Springs, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997, at St. Mary`s Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mrs. McGrath was born Feb. 21, 1918, in Bland, Mo. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge and American Legion Post 499, all in Blue Springs. She worked for Lake City Army Ammunition Plant and owned a cleaning business.

Her survivors include a son, Donald Franke, and two brothers, Herb Franke and George Franke, all of Blue Springs; one granddaughter, DeAnna Chambers, Grain Valley; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were today at Maple Wood cemetery, Alma, Mo. The family suggests contributions to the church. Arrangements were under the direction of Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs.

IMOGENE L. RADDE

Imogene L. Radde, 90, Blue Springs, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997, at St. Mary`s Manor Nursing Home in Blue Springs.

Mrs. Radde was born Oct. 4, 1907, in Fairview, Kan., and had lived in Blue Springs for five years. She was a homemaker.

Her survivors include a daughter, Donna V. McLean, Independence.

Cremation. Arrangements are under the direction of the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel.

LaVERNE O. RICE

LaVerne O. Rice, 72, Clinton, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997, at Clinton Health Care.

Mrs. Rice was born Aug. 24, 1925, in St. Charles, Mo., and lived in Independence for 37 years before moving to Clinton 10 years ago. She was a beautician for 45 years and owned her own salon for 40 years. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Clinton. Her survivors include her husband, Charles M. Rice of the home; two daughters, Deborah Wallen and Jeanne Roberts, both of Independence; a son, Carl Rice, Overland Park, Kan.; three sisters, Geneva Sontag, Gasconade, Mo., Viola Sanders, Jefferson City, and Myrna Cunningham Smith, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Elston Pack, Parkville, Mo., and Paul Marvin Pack, Jefferson City; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer`s Association.
