EDWARD J. "JERRY" BRENNAN

Edward J. "Jerry" Brennan, 77, Lee`s Summit, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Lee`s Summit Hospital.

Mr. Brennan was born May 24, 1921, in Grand Forks, N.D. He retired from the General Motors Leeds Assembly Plant after 25 years of service, and was a member of the United Auto Workers 24 Retiree Club. He was an American Division veteran of World War II. He was active with Alcoholics Anonymous and the National Council on Alcoholism, and had celebrated 32 years of sobriety. He was a member of John Knox Village. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Brennan.

His survivors include a sister-in-law, Marjory Brennan; nephews and nieces, Sister Rebecca Brennan, James and Patricia Ornce, Tim and Heather Brennan, Jack and Jackie Cruise, and Olin and Terry Karch; three great-nieces; nine great-nephews; and one special great-nephew, Jacob Ornce.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 800 S.W. 150 Highway, Lee`s Summit; cremation. The family suggests contributions to Alcoholic Anonymous, 9912 Holmes, Kansas City, Mo. 64131. Arrangements are under the direction of the Langsford Funeral Home, Lee`s Summit.

VIRGIL MUNDEN

Virgil Munden, 85, Bates City, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at his home.

Mr. Munden was born April 4, 1913, in Kansas City, and lived in the Clinton and Lebanon, Mo., areas before moving to Bates City three years ago. He was a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II, serving as a chief cook aboard ship. He enjoyed farming and was an avid outdoorsman. His daughter, Beverly Ann Munden, died in 1950.

His survivors include his wife of 43 years, Betty J. Clark of the home; one son, Virgil W. Munden, Raymond, Neb.; one daughter, Norma Grainger, Greenwood; two sisters, Pearl Schwausch, Independence, and Berniece Johnson, Lee`s Summit; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery, Independence.

LINDA L. CLIFTON

Linda L. Moreels Clifton, 41, Independence, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mrs. Clifton was born Feb. 16, 1957, in Kansas City. She was a case worker for the Housing Authority of The City of Independence Section 8. She was a graduate of Van Horn High School. She was of the Catholic faith.

Her survivors include her husband, John "Jack" Clifton, and a son, Andy Clifton, both of the home; a stepdaughter, Ivy Farmsworth, North Kansas City; a stepson, Loren Clifton, Independence; her father and mother, Lucien and Dora Moreels, Independence; two brothers, Henry Moreels, Grain Valley, and David Moreels, Stewartsville, Mo.; and an aunt, Louise Moreels, Independence.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the chapel, where a prayer service will be at 7 p.m.

H. ELLIS REINKING

H. Ellis Reinking, 82, Lone Jack, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at Lee's Summit Hospital.

Mr. Reinking was born Feb. 23, 1917, in Oak Grove. He had worked in construction for 40 years and was a member of the Carpenters Union. He had also worked for the Jackson County Road Maintenance Department for 10 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member and past president of the Lone Jack School Board and a member of the Lone Jack Baptist Church.

His survivors include his wife, Leona M. Lang Reinking of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and David Rice, and a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Deborah Reinking, all of Lone Jack; one sister, Nadine Spencer, Independence; four grandchildren, Bryan Rice, Michelle Moore, Stephanie Reinking and Stacy Reinking; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. Burial will be in Lone Jack cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the chapel.

RACHEL KATHERINE KNIGHT

Rachel Katherine Knight, 83, formerly of Independence, died Thursday, March 19, 1999, in Albuquerque, N.M.

Mrs. Knight was born Jan. 8, 1916, in Osborn, Mo. She retired from Allis-Chalmers, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She served as a Girl Scout leader and den mother. She was a member of the Ladies Firefighters Auxiliary in Independence, and earned a teacher's certificate from William Jewel College.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Knight, and son, Rayburn Hastings.

She is survived by her sons, Mike Knight and his wife, Alexa of Tijeras, N.M., Emmett Knight of Albuquerque, N.M. and David Knight of Ariz.; daughters Sherrelyn Green and husband Paul of Independence and Gloria Edmondson and husband Don of Independence; her brother, Wilfred Eugene Hutton and wife Mya of Tuscon, Ariz; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Mt. Moriah and Freeman Chapel; burial at Mt. Moriah cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Lung Association.

JAMES L. MARRIOTT

James Leroy Marriott, 57, Kansas City, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at his home.

Suvivors include his daughter, Charlasue Marriott of Blue Springs; a son and daughter-in-law, Delbert and Kerri Marriott of Oceanside, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Matthew, Macy and Marc Marriott.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Plaza Heights Baptist Church, 1500 S. Clark Road, Blue Springs; cremation. Send flowers and or cards to the church. Memorial contributions can be made to Gennessee R. Norland. Contact the church for details. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mortician Service.

DOROTHEA A. DANAHER

Dorothea A. Danaher, 83, Blue Springs, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at St. Mary's Manor in Blue Springs.

Mrs. Danaher was born June 12, 1915, in Kansas City. She had been a secretary, and a member of St. John LaLande Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 499 Ladies Auxiliary, both in Blue Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Danaher in May 1960, and two stepchildren, William Danaher and Jane Bradish.

Her survivors include one son, Leo Danaher, Blue Springs; two daughters, Charlene Dinicola, Altamont Springs, Fla., and Helen McDonald, Blue Springs; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Danaher, Kansas City; 14 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Services will begin at 7:30 tonight at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs. Burial will be in Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.

MABLE F. EASON

Mable Florence Eason, 98, Independence, died Monday, March 22, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Eason was born Dec. 10, 1900, in Chillicothe, Mo. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Independence.

Her husband, Leonard Eason, died in 1989.

Her survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Charles Ross, Overland Park, Kan.; one sister, Dorothy Jacobs, Northeast Kansas City; grandchildren, John Ross, and his wife, Lisa of Merriam, Kan., Sue Ross, Merriam, and Joyce Ross, Roeland Park, Kan.; and one great-granddaughter, Caley Ross.

Services were today at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial was in Mount Washington cemetery.

HENRY L. KUSICK

Henry Louis Kusick, 81, Independence, died Monday, July 27, 1998, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. Kusick was born Nov. 22, 1916, in Kansas City, and was a lifelong area resident. He retired from Exide Industrial, where he had worked since 1937. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Kusick.

His survivors include two sisters, Anne Lehman and Lillian J. Cornell; two brothers, Charles V. Kusick and Joseph F. Kusick; and 14 nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Raytown. Friends may call from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.

ROBERT L. BEERS

Robert L. Beers, 74, Kansas City, died Friday, July 31, 1998, at the Lee`s Summit Hospital.

Mr. Beers was born March 20, 1924, in St. Joseph, Mo. He worked for the Kansas City Missouri School District for 23 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Mill Creek Rifle Club.

His survivors include his wife, Dorothy Beers of the home; a son, Grady Beers, Minneapolis, Minn.; two stepsons, Steven Downing, Liberty, Mo., and Mark Downing, Peculiar, Mo.; a brother, Donny Beers, Warsaw, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Travis and Dawn.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Langsford Funeral Home, Lee`s Summit; cremation. The family suggests contributions to the National Kidney Foundation of Kansas and Western Missouri, 1900 West 47th Place, Suite 310, Westwood, Kan. 66205.

JOHN R. BAUER

John R. Bauer, 57, Kansas City, formerly of Independence, died Thursday, July 30, 1998.

Mr. Bauer was born in Independence and had lived in the Lee`s Summit area for the past 20 years. He was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church of Lee`s Summit, and served on the board of trustees. He owned a family printing business, and was a past member of the Rotary Club, Veterans Motor Car Club of American and the K.C. Chuggers. He was a master craftsman, who has restored an 1850s farm home and applied his skills to many building projects at his church. He also restored touring antique auto.

His survivors include his wife of 35 years, Brenda; a daughter, Kathy Bauer; his mother, Evelyn Bauer; two sisters, Judy Shelton and Linda Davis; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Langsford Funeral Home, Lee`s Summit. Burial will be in the Lee`s Summit Historical cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Liberty Baptist Church building fund, in memory of John Bauer, at P.O. Box 6436, Lee`s Summit, Mo. 64086.

GERTRUDE A. WILLIAMS

Gertrude Augusta Ferrell Williams, 88, Independence, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Williams was born Nov. 28, 1910, in El Reno, Okla., and lived in Nevada, Mo., before moving to Independence in 1962. While in Nevada, she worked for Pokorny Drug Store for a time, and after moving to Independence, she worked for a pharmacy. She spent the majority of her life as a homemaker. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints in Nevada, and then in Independence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Williams on March 28, 1995, and a grandchild.

Her survivors include three daughters, Joy Taylor and Sue Gose, both of Nevada, and Jo Benson, Alpharetta, Ga.; one son, Harry Williams, Bedford, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services were today at the Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Burial was in Newton Burial Park. The family suggests contributions to the RLDS Racine Reunion Grounds Pool Fund, in care of the funeral home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada, Mo. 64772.

ROBERT A. WILSON

Robert A. "Rabbit" Wilson, 48, Bates City, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, in Independence.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his soul mate, Cynthia Wilson; children, Catrina and Robby; daughter-in-law, Beth Anne and grandson, Austin; brother, Wendell Wilson and family; parents, Walter and Betty Wilson; four sisters, another brother and many extended family members.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bates City RLDS Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kansas City Funeral Directors.

BONNIE J. SPURLOCK

Bonnie J. Spurlock, 89, Independence, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at Hidden Lake Care Center, Raytown.

Mrs. Spurlock was born Dec. 11, 1909, in LaRussell, Mo., and had lived in Independence for many years. She was a member of Glenwood Park United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Spurlock in 1977.

Her survivors include cousins, Vincil Baker and Cleo Upchurch.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Glenwood United Methodist Church in Independence. Burial will be in Floral Hills cemetery, Kansas City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to KC Hospice or to the church.

Larry George

Larry George, 67, Independence, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, in Liberty (Mo.) Hospital.

Mr. George was born May 26, 1932, in Concordia, Kan., and had lived most of his life in this area. He had been a pastor for 29 years of the Pleasant Grove Bible Church, retiring in 1997. He had been on the Board of Directors of Calvary Bible College for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church West Side.

His survivors include his wife, Kay George of the home; a son, James L. George II, Barnesville, Mo.; a daughter, Terri L. Warkentien, Sao Paul, Brazil; two brothers, David George, Grandview, and Bill George, Lake Lotawana; two sisters, Joan Turn and Jeannie Barber, both of Independence; three grandchildren, Chelise, Heather and Rachel Warkentien; three stepgrandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Pleasant Grove Bible Church, Independence. Burial will be in the Longview Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the mission program at Pleasant Grove Bible Church.

Marjorie S. Heaviland

Marjorie Sarah Heaviland, 93, Lee's Summit, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Lee's Summit Hospital.

Mrs. Heaviland was born Sept. 17, 1906, in London, Ontario, Canada, and had lived in the Forest View Independent Living Center at The Groves from August 1994 to September 1999. She moved to Wilshire Nursing Home in Lee's Summit in November. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Independence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence T. Heaviland, and one son, Ronald J. Heaviland on Dec. 20, 1997.

Her survivors include three sons, Russell Lee Heaviland, Independence, David Lawrence Heaviland, Lee's Summit, and Edward Heaviland, Eaton Rapids, Mich.; one daughter, Ruth Ann Etnire, Las Vegas, Nev.; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at The Groves in Independence. Cremation, with inurnment in the Tarpon Springs (Fla.) RLDS Church cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Restoration Trails Foundation, P.O. Box 1059, Independence, Mo. 64051.
