F. MARIE CARTER

F. Marie Blocher Carter, 59, Buenos Aires, Argentina, formerly of Lee`s Summit, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at British Hospital, Buenos Aires.

Mrs. Carter was born June 28, 1938, in Adrian, Mo. She was commissioned a missionary by the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention in 1986, and with her husband, Richard Carter, was serving as witness and teacher, student worker and mission hostess at the time of her death. The Villa Centenario Church and its affiliated school were a special part of her ministry. She was a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia. She earned a master`s degree in education from Central Missouri State University. Prior to the foreign missions appointment, she was a teacher at Hazel Grove Elementary School in Lee`s Summit.

Her survivors include her husband of 38 years, V. Richard Carter of the home; a son, Jeffrey Carter, Lawrence, Kan.; two daughters, Karen Marie Carter Riffle, Holden, Mo., and Elizabeth "Beth" Carter Myers, Lee`s Summit; three grandchildren, Blayne and Kristen Riffle and Anna Myers; her mother, Ruth Blocher, Adrian; a brother, Edwin Blocher Jr., Leeds, Ala.; an aunt, Esther Marie Summers.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Lee`s Summit. Burial will be in Lee`s Summit cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. at the church. The family suggests contributions to the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, Development Office, P.O. Box 6767, Richmond, Va. 23230, in honor of Marie Carter.

BIDDY CHANCELLOR

Biddy Chancellor, 96, Excelsior Springs, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at the Excelsior Springs Medical Center.

Mrs. Chancellor was born Sept. 26, 1901, in Benton County, Mo. She was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olen Chancellor Sr., one son and three daughters.

Her survivors include two sons, Olen Chancellor and Duane Chancellor, both of Kansas City; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.

MYRTLE E. COOPER

Myrtle E. Cooper, 85, Olathe, Kan., formerly of Independence, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Center, Olathe.

Mrs. Cooper was born June 30, 1912, in Kansas City. She was a member of the Northern Boulevard United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Cooper in 1989.

Her survivors include a son, John Richard Cooper, Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter, Gloria Ruth Scholl, Highland, Calif.; two sisters, Ruth Grabb, Independence, and Betty Klamm, Louisburg, Kan.; six grandchildren, Mike, Greg, Mark, Paul, Kristy and Michelle; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Mount Moriah & Freeman Chapel. Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Association or to Animal Haven.

WM. STERLING GREEN

Wm. Sterling Green, 88, Independence, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. Green was born Nov. 30, 1909, in Centralia, Mo., and was a lifelong Independence resident. He was a bus operator for ATA for 42 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Fairmount Christian Church and Modern Woodman.

His survivors include his wife, Helen Phillips Green of the home; three sons, Fred Green, Kansas City, Richard Green, Cleveland, Mo., and Tom Green, Fulton, Mo.; a nephew, Sterling M. Green, California City, Calif.; a niece, Inez Punchard, Hesperia, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at D.W. Newcomer`s Noland Road Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice.

MAURICE E. GRIMES JR.

Maurice E. Grimes Jr., 46, Independence, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Grimes was born June 26, 1951, in Wichita, Kan., and he had lived in Granby, Mo., for several years before moving to Independence in 1973. He was a U.S. Marine veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church.

His survivors include his wife, Jerri Grimes of the home; four sons, Morris Grimes, David Grimes and Jeff Grimes, all of Independence, and Maurice Grimes III, Granby; a daughter, Jamie Grimes, Independence; his parents, Maurice and Hazel Grimes, Granby; three brothers, Tommy Grimes, Lee`s Summit, James Grimes, Independence, and Don Grimes, Colorado; two sisters, Kathy Lackey, Independence, and Frances Johnson, Richmond, Mo.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Granby Gospel Tabernacle. Burial will be in Granby Memorial cemetery. American Legion Post 163, Neosho, Mo., will conduct flag folding ceremonies at the graveside and graveside Indian rites will be conducted by Chief Floyd Leonard of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. Friends may call from 7 to 8 tonight at the Clark Funeral Home, Granby. Additional memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Independence.

ETHEL M. LEVIKOW

Ethel M. Levikow, 87, Independence, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Levikow was born June 15, 1910, in Nevada, Mo., and had lived in Independence for the past 60 years. She was a meat wrapper for Milgrams Grocery Stores for 10 years. She was a member of the Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Levikow in 1989, and a granddaughter, Linda Carter in 1959.

Her survivors include a stepson, H.J. Levikow, Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter, Helen Carter, Lexington, Mo.; and a nephew and a niece.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Noland Road Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.

ALMEDA L. MCMONIGLE

Almeda L. McMonigle, 90, Independence, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. McMonigle was born in Radical, Mo. She was a Christian for many years and a member of the Blue Rige Baptist Church of Independence for 23 years. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Galena, Mo. She was an elementary school teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit L. McMonigle.

Her survivors include a niece, Betty Edmoundson; and three great-nieces and four great-nephews.

Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at the D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Floral Hills Chapel. Burial will be in Philibert cemetery, Kimberling City, Mo. Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Blue

Ridge Baptist Church.

FRANCES L. WELLS

Frances L. Wells, 73, Kansas City, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Mrs. Wells was born April 21, 1924, in Leavenworth, Kan. She was a homemaker and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary 61, North Kansas City.

Her survivors include three daughters, Pamela Christian, Olathe, Kan., Constance Duncan, Kansas City, and Deborah Wells, Kansas City; three sisters, Betty Dennis and Margaret Ann Driscoll, both of Kansas City, Kan., and Barbara Orrick, Bonner Springs, Kan.; a brother, Richard August Klasinski, Kansas City, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Chapel Hill cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs.

LOETA L. KEISTER

Loeta Lillian Keister, 85, Lee's Summit, formerly of Blue Springs, died Monday, May 25, 1998, at the John Knox Village Care Center in Lee's Summit.

Mrs. Keister was born Feb. 6, 1913, in Macon, Mo., and lived in Hannibal and Shelbyville in Missouri and Blue Springs before moving to Lee's Summit. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church of Shelbina, Mo. Her husband, Alvin L. Keister Sr., died Sept. 1, 1996.

Her survivors include two sons, Jerry Keister, Blue Springs, and Alvin L. Keister Jr., New York City; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Blue Springs cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of D.W. Newcomer's Sons Blue Springs Chapel.

NEVA OEHRING

Neva Oehring, 92, Webb City, Mo., died Sunday, May 24, 1998.

Mrs. Oehring was born Oct. 1, 1905, in Carterville, Mo., and moved to Webb City at the age of four. She attended Webb City Public Schools, graduating from Webb City High School in 1923 and attended Joplin (Mo.) Business College. She worked for the Missouri Division of Employment Security-Job Service in Joplin for 22 years, retiring in 1970. For many years she was active in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Webb City and, more recently, the Carthage (Mo.) Restoration Church of Jesus Christ. Some of her many activities included organist, teacher, secretary/recorder, women's leader and district women's leader. She was past president of the Webb City Business and Professional Women's Club and a member of their Joybelles. She was a charter member of the Webb City Historical Society and a member of the Webb City Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Trimble in 1946, and her second husband, Roy G. Oehring in 1967.

Her survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert R. and Joan Trimble, Columbia, Mo., Richard H. and Marjorie Trimble, Webb City, and Thomas C. and Virginia Trimble, Blue Springs; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra A. and John Decker, Evergreen Park, Ill.; two brothers, C. Houston Hobart and Gail D. Hobart, both of Independence; two stepdaughters, Ruth Louise Gray and Sylvia Patterson, both of Webb City; 13 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Hedge Lewis Funeral Home, Webb City. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence.

Neva Oehring, 92, Webb City, Mo., died Sunday, May 24, 1998.

Mrs. Oehring was born Oct. 1, 1905, in Carterville, Mo., and moved to Webb City at the age of four. DELMER J. O'NEAL

Delmer Jerald O'Neal, 74, Bogard, Mo., died Friday, May 22, 1998, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

Mr. O'Neal was born Aug. 6, 1923, on the family farm in Bogard, Mo. He was a farmer and lived on the family farm for 74 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Coloma (Mo.) Baptist Church and the Carrollton (Mo.) Veterans of Foreign Wars. He attended Maple Grove Elementary School and Tina High School.

His survivors include his wife, Veva Jean O'Neal; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Pam O'Neal, Bogard, and Keith and Lori O'Neal, Overland Park, Kan.; one daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and Delbert Carpenter, Independence; one brother, Leonard O'Neal, Tingley, Iowa; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were Monday at the church. Burial was in Coloma cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the church and may be mailed to the Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton.

EDITH L. FARES

Edith Louise Fares, 87, Clinton, Mo., died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Fares was born Sept. 19, 1910, in Salina, Kan., and had lived in this area most of her life, moving to Clinton in 1989. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sameul W. Fares, and a daughter, Mary Gray in 1992.

Her survivors include four sons, Walter D. Fares, Independence, Charles E. Fares, Kansas City, Albert L. Fares, Mission, Kan., and John F. Fares, Clinton; three daughters, Jean Wilson, Phoenix, Ariz., and Vera L. Graham and Darlene Fabyanic, both of Clinton; 35 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one niece.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Park Lawn Funeral Home, Kansas City. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

WILLIAM L. BARKER

William L. Barker, 71, Strasburg, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at St. Mary`s Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mr. Barker was born Feb. 12, 1927, in Kansas City, and had lived in Fontana, Calif., before moving to Strasburg in 1961. He was employed for 28 years at the Ford Claycomo Plant, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Bridget`s Catholic Church, Pleasant Hill, Mo. He was a member of UAW Local 249 and had served as a trustee, vice president and president of the local. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy R. Fox on Jan. 9, 1983; a daughter, Margo Barker, and a son, William L. Barker.

His survivors include his wife, Barbara Barker of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Earl Wingard, Strasburg; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Wilkinson, Lathrop, Mo.; a stepson, Chris Noel, Stewartsville, Mo.; five sisters, Margaret Whiteside, Blue Springs, Anna Lewis, Independence, Alice Barker, Kansas City, Joe Helen Barnett, Torrance, Calif., and Jerrie Hogue, Pleasant Hill; three grandchildren, Keith, A.J. and Caitlyn Wingard; and four stepgrandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bridget`s Catholic Church. Burial will be in Strasburg cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Stanley & Son Funeral Home.

MABEL K. CARTMELL

Mabel K. Cartmell, 97, Independence, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Cartmell.

Her survivors include her daughter, Marietta, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Charter Funerals/Blue Ridge Chapel, 5000 Blue Ridge Cutoff, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
