RACHEL V. WOLF

Rachel V. Wolf, 71, Kansas City, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at the Barry Health Care Center.

Mrs. Wolf was born June 22, 1928, in Trenton, Mo., and had lived in this area most of her life. She had worked for Hallmark Cards, and was a member of Sterling Acres Baptist Church.

Her survivors include her husband of 45 years, J.E. Wolf of the home; two daughters, Christie Wolf, Kansas City, and Marie Fairweather, Cheyenne, Wyo.; a granddaughter, Erin Fairweather; three brothers, Elgin Ferguson, Wataga, Ill., Robert Ferguson, Knoxville, Ill., and Ralph Ferguson, Independence; two sisters, Lillian Scott, Sterling, and Leona Kinnamon, Bloomfield, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Green Lawn cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

LLOYD E. TEMPLE

Lloyd E. Temple, 59, Independence, died Friday, March 12, 1999, at his home. Mr. Temple was born June 12, 1939, in Independence and was a lifelong area resident. He was a dealer of antiques and collectibles. His survivors include one sister, Madeline Sackman; three nieces, Carol Taylor, Teresa Davis and Pat Paris; and three nephews, Kenneth Smedley, Gary Smedley and John Temple. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.

TEDDIE E. HUMPHREYS

Teddie E. Humphreys, 63, Independence, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at Baptist Medical Center.

Mr. Humphreys was born Oct. 12, 1935, in Competition, Mo. He worked for KCP&L for 39 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Ararat Shrine and the Masonic Lodge. He served in the Army for six years.

His survivors include his wife, Mary Humphreys, Independence; his mother, Esther Humphreys, Lebanon, Mo.; one son, Jonathan Humphreys, Kansas City; one brother, Donnie R. Humphreys, Lebanon; one sister, Suzann Gladan, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Nativity Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Raytown. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Sheil Colonial Chapel, Raytown.

ELVIN W. "BILL" SPARKS

Elvin Wayne "Bill" Sparks, 68, Marceline, Mo., formerly of Buckner, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia, Mo.

Mr. Sparks was born Feb. 27, 1931, in Brunswick, Mo., and lived in this area before moving to Marceline. He was an autobody repairman for Bates Automotive in Independence for 20 years, retiring in 1993.

His survivors include his wife, Wanda D. Sparks of the home; one son, Terry Sparks, Marceline; two daughters, Brenda E. Wynn, Las Vegas, Nev., and Cindy Esry, Camdenton, Mo.; one brother, Clarence L. Sparks, Warsaw, Mo.; three sisters, Inez Mae Mello, Emporia, Ariz., Rosie Sanders, Salisbury, Mo., and Shirley Sowers, Brunswick; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Anchor Point Baptist Church. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Parklawn Memory Gardens, Brookfield, Mo. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the chapel.

HENRY R. LAWSON SR.

Henry Ray Lawson Sr., 61, Sibley, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mr. Lawson was born Dec. 21, 1936, in Little Rock, Ark., and had lived in this area most of his life. He had lived in Sibley for more than 20 years. He was a driver for several truck lines, retiring from Yellow Freight. He was an Army veteran, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4616, Fayette, Mo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrna Lawson.

His survivors include two sons, Matthew Trevelli and Henry Ray Lawson Jr., and his companion, Barbara Krysa, all of the home; his mother, Ester Mae Lawson, Boonville, Mo.; two sisters, Joyce Bierman, Greenville, S.C., and Linda Smith, Inman, S.C.; two brothers, Jerry Lawson, Fayette, and Kenneth Lawson, Oakwood, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Boonsboro (Mo.) Christian Church cemetery, with military honors at the graveside conducted by VFW Post 4616. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Brown Funeral Home, Buckner. The family suggests contributions be mailed to the Boonsboro Christian Church or to the funeral home.

Francis L. 'Mickey' Ryan Jr.

Francis Leo 'Mickey' Ryan Jr., 77, Independence, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at his home.

Mr. Ryan was born March 15, 1923, in Linden, Mo., and had lived in Missouri most of his life. He was a Catholic by faith. He served in the Navy during World War II, and was honorably discharged after 2 1/2 years active duty in the American and Asian Pacific areas. He was awarded the Victory Medal. He had been a welder for Standard Steel Works/Trailmobile for many years.

His survivors include three sons, Jim Ryan, Mike Ryan and Pat Ryan, all of Independence; one daughter, Linda Chaney, Kansas City; a sister, Patricia Morris, and a brother, Leonard Ryan, both of Independence; four grandsons; and eight granddaughters.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Washington Forever Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.

WALTER E. POWERS

Walter E. Powers, 82, Independence, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. Powers was born Sept. 7, 1916, in Kansas City. He retired from Bendix after 20 years of service. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and was recalled into active duty in 1950 to serve in the Korean War. He was a member of Independence Masonic Lodge 76.

His survivors include his wife, Marian I. Powers of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Jeannette Powers, Kansas City; two grandchildren, Carey Reinsch and Corbett Powers; a niece, Helen Chorak and a great-niece, Sherri Chorak, both of Blue Springs.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City.

EDNA M. SOMERS

Edna M. Somers, 96, Independence, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at her home.

Mrs. Somers was born July 1, 1902, in Leonardtown, Md. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Independence.

Her survivors include one son, James Somers, Irving, Texas; one daughter, Elsie Seevers, Independence; one sister, Marion Robey, Bryans Road, Md.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the chapel.

EDNA M. JOHNSON

Edna Melissa Johnson, 88, Independence, died Friday, March 19, 1999, at the Rosewood Health Center.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Knob Noster, Mo., and had lived in the Independence area all of her life. She was a member of the Rosewood RLDS congregation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph R. Johnson in 1982.

Her survivors include a son, Richard Johnson, Houston; a daughter, Shirley Phelps, Independence; two brothers, George Hancock, Warrensburg, Mo., and Marion Hancock, Missouri; a foster brother, Noel Edson, Greenwood, Mo.; a foster sister, Carrie Larsen, Dalhart, Texas; five grandchildren, Kenneth, Ronald, Donald, David and Becky; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Rosewood Health Cetner.

NEVA L. KILGORE

Neva L. Kilgore, 69, Independence, died Friday, March 19, 1999, at the Independence Health Care Center.

Mrs. Kilgore was born Feb. 28, 1930, in Ben Hur, Ark., and moved to Independence in 1947. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.

Her survivors include her husband of 51 years, Amos Kilgore of the home; two sons, Gary M. Kilgore and Ron Kilgore, both of Blue Springs; a daughter, Donna Hersh, Fayetteville, Ark.; a brother, D.C. Johnson, Weslaco, Texas; four sisters, Gleema Wilson, Independence, Virginia Biggs, Collins, Mo., Ola McCabe, Baldknob, Ark., and Winnie Johnson, Gentry, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the New Salem Funeral Home. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

ANNA M. CARL

Anna Marie Carl, 93, Independence, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at the White Oak Living Center.

Mrs. Carl was born Sept. 28, 1905, in Madison, Ind., and had lived in the Independence area since 1983. She was employed by the B&O Railroad in East St. Louis, Ill., for many years. She was an active member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jo-Ann Goad in April 1982.

Her survivors include her husband of 77 years, Prosper Carl of the home; one son, James Carl, Houston; five grandchildren, Jackie Frinsthal, Curtis Goad, and Steven, Brad and Robert Carl; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the chapel at The Groves. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of the Speaks Midtown Chapel.

MARGARET M. KINGSREITER

Margaret M. Kingsreiter, 88, Independence, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at St. Mary's Manor of Blue Springs.

Mrs. Kingsreiter was born June 10, 1911, in Superior, Wis., and lived in Milwaukee, Wis., before moving to Independence 10 years ago. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert J. Kingsreiter.

Her survivors include one daughter, Nancy Makinen, Independence; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Kingsreiter, Franklin, Wis.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Cremation. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, where a rosary will be held at 8 p.m. The family suggests contributions to the St. Jude National Shrine, 3208 E. 91st St., Chicago, Ill.

DAVID A. KOLB

David Anderson Kolb, 39, Kansas City, formerly of Independence, died Friday, July 16, 1999, at his home.

Mr. Kolb was born Dec. 28, 1959, in Independence. He was employed with Sprint in the cafeteria.

Survivors include a brother, Josh Kolb, Branson, Mo.; and a sister, Tracy Kolb, Independence.

Following cremation, a memorial gathering of friends and family will be held at noon Saturday at Shelter House 7 at Lake Jacomo in Fleming Park.

THOMAS S. ANGOTTI

Thomas S. Angotti, 84, Independence, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, at St. Mary`s Manor in Blue Springs.

Mr. Angotti was born Jan. 1, 1914, in Pedevigliano, Calabria, Italy, and had lived in this area since 1930. He owned Ollies Shoe Shop in Northeast Kansas City for 50 years, and was a member of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church. His first wife, Clara M. Angotti, died in 1986.

His survivors include his wife, Juel Conway Angotti of the home; three sons, Joseph F. Angotti and Thomas Angotti Jr., both of Independence, and Vincent L. Angotti, Evansville, Ind.; a daughter, Christine Hoffman, Shawnee, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Raytown. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the Sheil Colonial Chapel, Raytown, where the rosary will be held at 7 p.m. The family suggests contributions to St. Mary`s Hospice.

PAULINE ASHCRAFT

Pauline Ashcraft, 91, Independence, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Ashcraft was born March 29, 1908, in Atchison, Kan., and had lived in this area most of her life. She was a stenographer for Benson Manufacturing Co., retiring in 1953. Her husband, Charles Ashcraft, died Sept. 8, 1987.

She is survived by a nephew, Warren Cooper of St. Joseph, Mo.

Graveside services were Tuesday at Mount Washington cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel.

RONALD R. HILDEBRAND

Ronald Richard Hildebrand, 62, Lee's Summit, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Hildebrand was born Sept. 19, 1936, in Kansas City. He owned and operated Brand Inc., a manufacturers representative firm dealing in commercial building products. From 1988 to 1994 he founded and was president of Panel Tech. From 1967 to 1988, he founded and was president and owner of Panels Plus, Inc. He attended Southeast High School, Kansas City. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in forestry from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was a "hard way" warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, and received one of the first God and Country awards. He was involved with sports all of his life and was a member of the KC Ski Club and skied the black runs of 46 different mountains.

His survivors include his wife, Mari Anne Hildebrand of the home, two daughters, Jeanne Morris, Oak Grove, and Jo Hildebrand, Kansas City; a son, Jason Hildebrand, Chicago; and a brother, Bruce Hildebrand, Kansas City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Sugar Creek cemetery, Rushville, Mo. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to Cancer Action, 1831 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan. 66102.

DOROTHY J. McNEIVE

Dorothy Julia McNeive, 80, Independence, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. McNeive was born Dec. 14, 1918, in Independence. She lived in Arizona before returning to Independence. She was a graduate of Graceland College. She retired from Western Envelope. She volunteered at the Independence Regional Health Center and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 10 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was preceded in death by a son, Floyd Martin Hugill.

Her survivors include her husband, Harry McNeive of the home; a daughter, Helen Marie Brosam, Talihina, Okla.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the Speaks Midtown Chapel.
