HAROLD H. STEINMEYER

Harold H. Steinmeyer, 90, Independence, died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center. Mr. Steinmeyer was born May, 1, 1908, in Alma, Kan. He worked for Continental Trailways for 42 years, retiring in1981. He was a member of the Ascension Lutheran Church for more than 30 years. His survivors include his wife of 60 years, Alice Steinmeyer of the home; three daughters, Linda Friedebach, Victoria, Minn., Mary Beth Ballenger, St. Charles, Mo., and Jane Tignor, Liberty, Mo.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, 4900 Blue Ridge Blvd. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The family suggests contributions to the building fund at the church.

PEARL A. WILLIAMSON

Pearl Alene Williamson, 96, Independence, died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at the Maywood Terrace Care Center Mrs. Williamson was born Feb. 5, 1903, in Kingston, Mo., and had lived on the West Coast for several years before moving to Independence in 1990. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Williamson, and one daughter, Dixie Jean Rothschilds. Her survivors include one grandson, Michael Rothschilds, Victorville, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Carrie Sue Wheeler and Jeffrey Bruce Rothschilds; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation, with private family services. Arrangements are under the direction of the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel.

MARY J. YUNG

Mary J. Yung, 65, Independence, died Friday, June 18, 1999, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mrs. Yung was born Aug. 2, 1933, in Glasgow, Mo., and had lived in Independence since 1959. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Her survivors include her husband, Clarence L. Yung of the home; two sons, David Yung, Lee's Summit, and Larry Yung, Holden, Mo.; two daughters, Mary Beth Yung, Parkville, Mo., and Kathy Shaw, Deltona, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Services were today at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial was in Mound Grove cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.

DOROTHY JACOBY

Dorothy Jacoby, 75, Kansas City, died Saturday, June 19, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Jacoby was born April 7, 1924, in Kansas City. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, and had worked at S&S, Mauer-Neuer and Rodeo meat packing plants.

Her survivors include one son, Pete Jacoby, and one brother, Ted Greble.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Raytown. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the Sheil Independence Avenue Funeral Home, Kansas City.

ARTHUR R. KROLL

Arthur R. Kroll, 69, Independence, died Friday, June 18, 1999, at his home.

Mr. Kroll was born June 20, 1929, in Omaha, Neb. He retired as manager for Osco Drug Stores, and was an Army veteran.

His survivors include his wife, Janice V. Kroll of the home; one son, Douglas Arthur Kroll, Independence; four daughters, Lois Marie McDonald and Jennifer Jo Reynolds, both of Independence, Julie Rae Auch, Wichita, Kan., and Jill Annette Abbott, Albuquerque, N.M.; two brothers, Raymond W. Kroll and Gary A. Kroll, both of Omaha; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were today at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel, and will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Lefler United Methodist Church, Omaha. Burial will be in West Lawn Hillcrest cemetery, Omaha. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

JOHN L. BIDWELL

John L. Bidwell, 81, Blue Springs, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at the Summit Nursing Home.

Mr. Bidwell was born July 6, 1918, in Fort Worth, Texas. He retired in 1973 from Prier Brass Manufacturing, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blue Springs. He was awarded two Bronze Stars while serving with the U.S. Army's 5th Ranger Battalion in Central Europe and The Rhineland during World War II. His wife, Georgia E. Bidwell, died on May 5, 1999.

His survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bobbie G. and Tommye Taylor, Grain Valley; two daughters and one son-in-law, Louise E. and Howard Hennessey, Blue Springs, and Jacqueline McLeod, Simms, Mont; a sister, Iris Trotter, Topeka; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.

LIBERTY M. PHILLIPS

Liberty Marie Phillips, 79, Blue Springs, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998.

She had been an office clerk.

She is survived by her son, Alfred H. Phillips, Blue Springs; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services are pending in California. Burial will be in Forest Lawn cemetery, Glendale, Calif. Arrangements are under the direction of the Webb-Freer Funeral Home.

EDNA M. REEDY

Edna M. Reedy, 80, Independence, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998, at St. Mary`s Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mrs. Reedy was born in Oklahoma and lived there until moving to Jackson County in 1959. She had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 340 in Sugar Creek for 18 years. She had been an Avon representative for 20 years. She was a former member of the Waldo Avenue Baptist Church and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Reedy Sr., in 1994, a son, Larry Mansolo in 1990, and a stepdaughter, Pat Higbee in 1988.

Her survivors include a son, George B. Reedy Jr., Douglasville, Ga.; a daughter, Susan M. Cyr, Clinton, Wash.; and five grandsons.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at New Salem Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Salem cemetery, Independence.

EDNA TADLOCK

Edna Whitesell Tadlock, 66, Blue Springs, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Tadlock was born Oct. 23, 1931, near Elmo, Mo. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service until retiring in 1991. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Blue Springs. She loved to square dance and was a member of the Swinging Oaks of Oak Grove. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dwane Whitesell in 1990, and her son, Paul Whitesell in 1989.

Her survivors include her husband, Roy Tadlock of the home; two daughters, Cheryl Potter, Culleoka, Tenn., and Diana Nelson, Grain Valley; a son, Steve Whitesell, Independence; two stepsons, Douglas Tadlock, Norton, Kan., and David Tadlock, Bonner Springs, Kan.; three brothers, Harold Larabee, Shenandoah, Iowa, Eldon Larabee, Clearmont, Mo., and Dillard Larabee, St. Joseph, Mo.; her twin sister, Essie Brands, Kansas City; grandchildren, Travis and Austin Potter, Culleoka, and Chelsea and Amanda Whitesell, Independence; stepgrandchildren, Lisa, Scott, Chris and Curtis.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to ALS or to St. Mary`s Hospice.

TIMOTHY D. CULBERTSON

Timothy D. Culbertson, 46, Blue Springs, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998.

Mr. Culbertson was born Feb. 3, 1952, in Kansas City. He was a member of the Wings Flying Club of Grain Valley, All American Fitness of Blue Springs, and was in charge of organizing the ATA Golf League.

His survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Culbertson, Kansas City; a son, Timothy Culbertson II, Lee's Summit; a sister, Glenda Casey, and three brothers, Louie Culbertson, Mike Culbertson and Pat Culbertson, all of Raytown; and his companion, Henrietta Valdivia, Independence.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs. Burial will be in Marshall cemetery, Collins, Mo. Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

CHARLOTTE P. ENLOE

Charlotte P. Enloe, 78, Independence, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Enloe was born in Kansas City. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Lewis Nelson Enloe Sr., died Nov. 10, 1996.

Her survivors include one daughter, Judy Herndon, North Little Rock, Ark.; one son, Nelson Enloe Jr., Independence; six grandchildren, Capt. Mark Herndon, Capt. Kim Bigelow, Eric Herndon, Becky Wooten, Stacy Enloe and Craig Enloe; and five great-grandchildren, John, Melissa, Billie, Caleb and Carlie.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Independence Regional Health Center Hospice.

HILDRED F. HATCHITT

Hildred F. Hatchitt, 77, Kansas City, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, in Independence.

Mrs. Hatchitt was born Jan. 23, 1921, in Trenton, Mo., and had lived in the Greater Kansas City area most of her life. She worked for several years in the late 1970s as a library aid for Gladstone Elementary School. Her husband, Russell G. Hatchitt,

died in 1975.

Her survivors include three daughters, Joan Smith, Independence, and Jane Williams and Judy Walker, both of Blue Springs; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Moriah cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Salvation Army.

NELLIE B. MASSEY

Nellie B. Massey, 82, Independence, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at the Rosewood Care Center.

Mrs. Massey was born in Centralia, Kan., and had lived in the Independence area since 1936. She was a secretary for E.C. Harrington and Sons Inc., retiring in 1980. She was a member of the RLDS Stone Church congregation. Her husband, Lloyd Massey, died in 1984.

Her survivors include her cousins, John and Maxine Harris, Raytown, Stanley and Frances Harris, Westminster, Colo., and Lucille Surdez, Onago, Kan.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Red Cross.

GARY J. SCHUMACHER

Gary Joseph Schumacher, 49, Independence, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998.

His survivors include his parents, Robert and Anna Schumacher, Independence; his wife, Linda Schumacher of the home; two sons, Chris and Tim of Independence; one daughter, Tina Hand, Lee's Summit; one sister, Mary Swarts, Independence; and three grandchildren, Bradley, Paige and Brittany.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Lee's Summit cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Charter Funerals/Blue Ridge Chapel, Kansas City.

EDITH L. TACKETT

Edith L. Tackett, 86, Odessa, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mrs. Tackett was born April 25, 1912, in Kansas City. She was a medical technician for the Munson Army Hospital at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. She was a Catholic by faith.

Her survivors include one son, Raymond D. Tackett, Clovis, Calif.; one daughter, Maria Vaught, Odessa; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday at Fort Leavenworth National cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Husman-Sparks-McDowell Funeral Chapel, Odessa.

MARGARET S. "PEGGY" BUCHER

Margaret S. "Peggy" Bucher, 82, Blue Springs, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mrs.. Bucher was born Sept. 9, 1916, in Cameron, Mo., and lived in Independence most of her life, moving to Blue Springs nine years ago. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Baptist church. Her husband, William Bucher, died June 24, 1981.

Her survivors include three daughters, Betty L. Pendleton, Wichita, Kan., Mary A. Stowell, McCall, Idaho, and Barbara J. Grace, Independence; two brothers, Victor P. Meador and Henry Meador, and one sister, Viola Bever, all of Independence; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel. Services will be in Longview Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Friends may call from 7 to 8 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, 6800 W. 93rd St., Overland Pak, Kan., 66212-1461.

MINNIE L. NOLAND

Minnie Lee Noland, 80, Independence, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Noland was born March 10, 1918, in El Dorado Springs, Mo., and had lived in Independence most of her life. She was a purchasing clerk for the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant for 27 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Her survivors include her husband, Forrest E. Noland of the home; one daughter, Sharon Newhard, Independence; one sister, Mildred Crosley, Everton, Mo.; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.
