FRANCES E. KING
Frances Elizabeth King, 85, Blue Springs, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at St. Mary`s Manor in Blue Springs.
Mrs. King was born Oct. 14, 1913, in Marshall, Mo., and had lived in Marshall and the Kansas City area all of her life. She was a graduate of Marshall (Mo.) High School. She had worked for the
Internal Revenue Serice in Kansas City. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Garden Club, Royal Neighbors, DAR and the Order of the Eastern Star. She had also worked in several community activities. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marshall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow King.
Her survivors include two sons, Jack R. King, Blue Springs, and Bob King, Raytown; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Marshall. Burial will be in Ridge Park cemetery, Marshall. Friends may call from 7 to 8 tonight at the Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.
JACK L. SMALL
Jack L. Small, 63, Independence, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Small was born March 18, 1935, in Pittsburg, Kan., and had lived in In-dependence and the Independence area for most of his life. He was a graduate of William Chrisman High School. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He had worked for Reliance Printing and the Herald Publishing House before starting his own business, Arrow Printing, in 1963. He retired in 1997. He was a member and priest of the South Crysler Restoration Branch of Independence.
His survivors include his wife, Kathleen Small of the home; a son and daugther-in-law, Jeffrey A. and Gail Small, two daughters and sons-in-law, Janna A. and Paul Willis and Angela K. and Gregory Porter, all of Independence; five brothers, James J. Small, Plattsburg, Mo., Gerald M. Small, Chance R. Small, and Donald D. Small, all of Independence, and Kenneth L. Small, Blue Springs; and five grandchildren, Zachary, Mallory and Madison Willis and Alexandria Porter and Matthew Small.
Services were today at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial was in
Mound Grove cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Center Place Restoration School or the Hospice Foundation.
LELLOUS H. "LUCKY" DILLS
Lellous H. "Lucky" Dills, 70, Kansas City, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Dills was born March 29, 1928, in Alton, Mo., and was a lifelong Kansas City resident. He worked for Kulmans Diecasting for 22 years. He had also worked at the Muehlebach Hotel, and was self-employed with Eastside Upholstering. He retired from the Alameda Plaza Hotel in 1993.
His survivors include his wife, Bonnie Dills of the home; five children, Ronald Dills, Kingsville, Brenda Dujakovich, Joyce Britt and Richard Dills, all of Independence, and Kevin Dills, Kansas City; his mother, Myrtle Dills, Independence; one sister, Shirley Swendener, Rowland Heights, Calif.; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel.
MILDRED L. FRANCIS
Mildred Lucille Francis, 80, Independence, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, at the Monterey Park Care Center.
Mrs. Francis was born in Independence and was a lifelong area resident. She was a 25-year member of the Centropolis Baptist Church.
Her survivors include her husband of 59 years, Kenneth Francis of Independence; two sons and daughters-in-law, David B. and Lynne Francis, Kansas City, and Louis F. and Kathy Francis, Gladstone, Mo.; two brothers, David L. Feiser, Lee`s Summit, and Stanley J. Feiser, Blue Springs; one sister, Shirley R. Hayner, Sugar Creek; seven grandchildren, Brad, Scott, Ridley, Brett, Lindsay, Emily and Mary Beth; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Lauren and Alexandra.

AUDREW CHARLES
Audrew Charles, 70, Independence, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at Independence Regional Health Center.
Mrs. Charles was born Nov. 18, 1928, in Lee's Summit. She attended school in Independence, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Lincoln University, and a Master of Science degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She began teaching in 1949 at Douglass Elementary School in Kansas City, Kan., and completed her career as an educator in the Kansas City School District, holding a variety of positions at several schools, including Booker T. Washington, Switzer, Cook and Troost. She retired in 1994. After she retired, she was a volunteer tutor with Youth Friends, and also volunteered for the American Association of Retired Persons in tax assistance for the elderly. She was on the board of the Child Abuse Prevention Association, and a committee member of Fast Forward Independence. She was also a member of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority and the Lincoln University Alumni Association.
She had been a member of the St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church for 48 years, and served in several capacities in her local church, including the Senior Choir, Trustee Board, Sarah Jane Johnson Missionary Society, and as a lay president. And, for the Northwest Missouri Annual Conference, she served as trustee, director of lay activity and was an alternate delegate to the past four Quadrennial sessions. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymon Charles.
Her survivors include one son, the Rev. Gary R. Charles, and his wife, Vallori; one daughter, Gloria D. Charles; two grandchildren, Donovan E. Charles and Jacquelyn D. Charles; three sisters, Eva Mae Smith, Elna Lou Cruikshank and Mary Jo Counts; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the Watkins Brothers Memorial Chapel, Kansas City, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
CHARLES R. LUPARDUS
Charles R. Lupardus, 90, Independence, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at the Medical Center of Independence.
Mr. Lupardus was born Jan. 31, 1908, in LaHarp, Kan., and had lived in Independence since 1933. He was an iron worker and steeple jack for Local 10 of the United Steel Workers Union for 35 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Second Ward, and a Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice M. Lupardus.
His survivors include one niece, Margaret "Margie" Chinn, and one nephew, Earl Williamson, both of Independence.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the LDS Stake Center. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church. The family suggests contributions to the LDS Second Ward, 705 W. Walnut St., Independence, Mo. 64050. Arrangements are under the direction of the Speaks Suburban Chapel.
ROY A. SOWERS
Roy Allen Sowers, 80, Independence, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998,
at the Independence Health Care Center.
Mr. Sowers was born June 9, 1918, near Mayview, Mo., and had lived in Odessa before moving to Independence 33 years ago. He was the owner of Sowers Construction Co. of Independence until his retirement. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Independence.
His survivors include his wife, Bonnie Sowers of the home; a daughter, Rosemary Rose, Blue Springs; a brother, James Kelly Sowers, Independence; a sister, Frances Beryl Meyer, McCloud, Okla.; five grandchildren, Tamara Oldham, Steven Oldham, Michael Fisher, Bryan Rose, Cheryl Thrasher; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Odessa cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Kansas City.
ORIE S. COIL JR.
Orie Steven Coil Jr., 80, Independence, died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at the Independence Manor Care Center.
Mr. Coil was born in Independence and was a lifelong Independence resident. He was a sheet metal worker for the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant from 1965 until he retired in 1983. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and received many awards, including the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Encore Theater Group at the Sermon Center, and Rockwood Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Coil in 1987.
His survivors include his wife, Frances Coil of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James and Sandy Coil, Bellevue, Neb., and Lanny Coil, Grandview; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Farhad Bandad, Kansas City, and Lou Ann and Mark Sauls, Conroe, Texas; four stepsons, Mickey Bramer, California, Bill Bramer, and his wife, Jan, Colorado, Jeff Bramer, Independence, and Wade Martin, Texas; one stepdaughter, Connie Francis, and her husband, Linden, and one brother, Franklin Coil, all of Independence; 25 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Rockwood Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
WILLIAM R. "BOB" HIGGINBOTHAM
William Robert "Bob" Higginbotham, 53, Independence, died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.
Mr. Higginbotham was born Feb. 25, 1946, in Kansas City. He was an over-the-road truck driver for Roadway Express for the past nine years, and a member of Teamsters Union Local 41. He was a member of the Plaza Heights Baptist Church.
His survivors include his wife, Kay Higginbotham of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Jacque Higginbotham, Gravois Mills, Mo.; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Wendy Kaske, Independence; eight grandchildren, John, Jeremy, Amy, Christopher, Holly, Kayti, Amanda and Julia; and one great-grandson, Jeremy.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. Friends may call from 6 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Carondelet Hospice in care of St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.
MICHAEL D. MATSON
Michael D. Matson, 43, Independence, died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at home with his parents, Anna and Walter Matson.
Mr. Matson was born Sept. 22, 1955, in Clinton, Mo., and was a lifelong area resident. He was a supervisor at the Independence Regional Health Center, and had previously worked at Liberty and University hospitals. He enjoyed sports, wrestling and music.
His survivors also include his wife, Carol Waddell of Independence; one sister, Dianne Sanderson, and her husband, David, and one niece, Shawnna Cooper, all of Independence.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesay at the Speaks Suburban Chapel; cremation. The family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice.
DOLORES A. "DODIE" MONGEON
Dolores A. "Dodie" Mongeon, 69, Lee's Summit, died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at the Foxwood Springs Living Center.
Mrs. Mongeon was born Sept. 22, 1929, in St. Louis and had moved to this area in1971. For many years she had been an active volunteer at various Catholic parishes. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church.
Her survivors include her husband, Ro Mongeon of Lee's Summit; two sons, Ronald K. Mongeon, Louisville, Ky., and Michael W. Mongeon, Denver; one daughter, Sue Mongeon, Lee's Summit; three grandchildren, Danielle, Michael and Leslie; one brother, Larry Belford, St. Louis; and two sisters, Mary Thomas, St. Louis, and Margaret Baker, Hot Springs, Ark.
Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 tonight at the church, with the funeral mass beginning at 7:30 p.m. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olivet cemetery, Raytown, with the funeral procession leaving the Speaks Suburban Chapel at 1 p.m. The family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.
ROBERT L. SEAVER
Robert L. Seaver, 69, Independence, died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.
Mr. Seaver was born Sept. 29, 1929, in West Burlington, Iowa, and had lived in this area since 1944. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Independence.
His survivors include his wife, Carol M. Seaver of the home; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services, with full military honors, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the church or your favorite charity.
HERBERT W. SHAW
Herbert William Shaw, 76, Independence, died Friday, March 26, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.
Mr. Shaw was born in Kansas City and was a lifelong area resident. He was a member of the Cadillac Crest Club, Cursillo, Knights of Columbus, Oldsmobile Vanguard Club, Ford 500 Club, Team Continental Club and St. Mark's Catholic Church, where he was an usher.
His survivors include his wife, Rosalie Ann Shaw of the home; five daughters, CeCe Higgins, Lenexa, Kan., Susan Biggs, Blue Springs, Jeannie Deering, Kansas City, Nancy Noland, Raytown, and Kathleen Garrett, Grain Valley; one son, Michael Shaw, Raytown; one sister, Helen Becker, Vancouver, British Columbia; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

MARY SHORE
Mary Agee Shore, 91, Independence, died Friday, March 26, 1999, at St. Mary's Manor of Blue Springs.
Mrs. Shore was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, and was a life member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy R. Shore.
Her survivors include her brother, Dr. W. Richard Agee, and his wife, Emma Jeanne; five nieces; and one nephew.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn cemetery; cremation.
DR. MICHAEL J. BUBALO
Dr. Michael J. Bubalo, 69, Blue Springs, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at his home.
Dr. Bubalo was born July 15, 1929, in Duluth, Minn., and had lived and practiced in Odessa from 1952 until moving to Blue Springs in 1975. He graduated in 1952 from Logan College of Chiropractic, Chesterfield, Mo. He was a 46-year member of the Missouri State Chiropractic Association. He was president of District 2 from 1981 until 1984. He was voted Chiropractor of the year in 1984 and received the Pioneer Award in his district in 1991. He was a member of St. Peter United Methodist Church of Blue Springs.
His survivors include his wife, Kathy M. Bubalo of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Kerry Bubalo and Mark and Susan Bubalo, all of Blue Springs, Alan and Vicki Bubalo, Washington, Ind., and Keith and Kim Bubalo, Fishers, Ind.; two brothers, Robert Bubalo, Duluth, and Rudy Bubalo, Cleveland, Ohio; and 14 grandchildren.
Services were today at St. Peter United Methodist Church, Blue Springs. Burial was in the Blue Springs cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the building fund at the church or to the Odessa Youth Inc., in care of the Bank of Odessa, Odessa, Mo. 64076.
