NICHOLAS G. ADAMS
Nicholas G. Adams, 34, Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of Independence, died Thursday, June 17, 1999, in Albuquerque.
Mr. Adams was born Dec. 22, 1964, in Independence. He was an engineer/technician for the Intel Corp. He graduated from Lee's Summit High School, where he excelled in track, he enjoyed golf, music and literature, and was a member of the Church of Christ, Temple Lot.
His survivors include his parents, Gary and Geraldine Adams, Blue Springs; and two brothers, Scott Adams, Warrensburg, Mo., and George Adams, Crossett, Ark.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the missionary fund at the church.
RUBY E. GREEN
Ruby E. Green, 82, Portage, Ind., died Saturday, June 19, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital in Hobart, Ind.
Ms. Green was born May 20, 1917, in Hodge, Mo., and lived in Waverly, Mo., before moving to Indiana 60 years ago. She was an office manager for Shaver Insurance Agency in Gary, Ind., before she retired. Her longtime companion, Charles Walter, died in April 1999.
Her survivors include a niece, Karen Highfill, Dallas; three nephews, Ray Wills, Montclaire, Va., Clifton S. Fenner, Sweet Springs, Mo., and Ernie Wills, Higginsville, Mo.; a cousin, Helen Fenner, Malta Bend, Mo.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Waverly cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday at the Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home, Marshall, Mo. The family suggests contributions to the Children's Cerebral Palsy of Northwest Indiana.
GLOYD G. SHORT
Gloyd George Short, 75, El Dorado Springs, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Friday, June 18, 1999, at the Cedar County Memorial Hospital, El Dorado Springs.
Mr. Short was born June 27, 1923, in Holden, Mo. He was a diesel mechanic for the Kansas City Area Transit Authority and later was the maintenance supervisor. He had also worked for Westinghouse, Bendix Corp., and the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, all in the Kansas City area, and had been a supervisor for Neoplan Bus Manufacturing Co. in Lamar, Colo. He was a 1941 graduate of Raytown High School, and an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European and Pacific theaters from 1943 to 1945. He attended the Holden RLDS Church, and as a child and later in life, the Englewood RLDS Church in Independence.
His survivors include his wife, Mildred Ann Willhoite Short of the home; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Lois and James Wells, Linda and David Williams, and Hollie Ellis, all of Independence, and Penni and Ed Rockwell, Bates City; one sister, Marie Pulley, Fayetteville, Ga.; one brother, Charles E. Short, Bentonville, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Williams Funeral Chapel, Holden. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Holden. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to Powell Gardens, Kingsville, Mo.
ALEXUS A. STORTO-SHELL
Alexus Ann Storto-Shell, 14 months old, Independence, died Sunday, June 20, 1999, at Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City.
Alexus was born April 11, 1998, in Kansas City.
Her survivors include her parents, Earl Shell and Crystal Storto, paternal grandparents, Linda Shell and Kelsy Shell, and maternal grandmother, Lorene Storto, all of Independence; and several aunts and uncles.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
ALLEN G. FERGUSON
Allen G. Ferguson, 37, Parkville, Mo., died Friday, Sept. 5, 1998.
Mr. Ferguson was born Jan. 8, 1961, in Kansas City. He was a roofer for Godard and Sons Roofing. He was a Christian.
His survivors include his wife, Linda Ferguson of the home; his mother, Leila Ferguson, Independence; two brothers, Robert Ferguson and Jimmie Ferguson, both of Kansas City; five sisters, Patricia Harrison, Pam Ferguson, Voneita Ferguson, Karon Smith and Brenda Shields, all of the Kansas City area; three stepdaughters, Tina Ferguson, Melissa Tetrick and Shaunna Coffman, and one son, Daniel Carrero; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Sheil Independence Avenue Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Allen G. Ferguson Memorial Fund.
ANDREW S. DENNIS
Andrew Stephen Dennis, 21, Independence, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998.
Mr. Dennis was born June 9, 1977, in Des Moines, Iowa, and had lived in Independence the past 11 years. He was a warehouse supervisor for Corporate Express, and a member of the Church of Christ.
His survivors include his parents, Kathy and Don Mackey, Independence, and Steve and Cindy Dennis, Evansville, Ind.; a brother, Simon Dennis, Corydon, Iowa; a sister, Emily Dennis, Independence; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Anna Dennis, Des Moines; maternal grandparents, Norman and Mary Jo Riekens, Corydon; and maternal great-grandmother, Lois Riekens, Mason City, Iowa.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.
GEORGE E. KENNEDY
George E. Kennedy, 81, Independence, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998, at the Independence Regional Health Center.
Mr. Kennedy was born Sept. 8, 1917, in Lone Jack, and had lived in this area most of his life. He was a truck driver for Montgomery Wards for 18 years, retiring in 1976, and was a member of Teamsters Union Local 41. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of American Legion Post 21. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pauline Kennedy in 1945.
His survivors include his wife, Marjorie M. Kennedy, Independence; a son, Harold E. Kennedy, Little Rock, Ark.; a daughter, Carol Kennedy Griffith, Denver; a brother, Roy N. Kennedy, Brighton, Colo.; two sisters, Frances Edwards, Kansas City, and Ann Laverne Forbis, Independence; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

JAMES F. O'ROURKE
James Francis O'Rourke, 84, Independence, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.
Mr. O'Rourke was born Aug. 8, 1914, in Kansas City, and had lived in this area most of his life. He worked for the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant for 33 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
His survivors include his children, James T. O'Rourke, Kansas City, Sean M. O'Rourke, Raytown, Terease Jean Marmaduke, Indianapolis, Ind., and Shelley Elaine Pearson, Harrisonville, Mo.; a sister, Bernadine Corine, Blue Springs; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel.
ANNA L. ROESSNER
Anna Lenora Roessner, 81, Osawatomie, Kan., died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, at the Villa St. Francis Care Center in Olathe, Kan.
Mrs. Roessner was born Dec. 21, 1916, in Kansas City, and had lived in Kansas City, Kan., Paola and Ottawa in Kansas, before moving to Osawatomie in 1991. She attended Kansas City, Kan., schools. She worked at the Osawatomie State Hospital in the Dietary Department for 18 years, retiring in 1973. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Robert Roessner in 1993, and a daughter, Bonnie Sager.
Her survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Norma Jean and Robert Kitchen, Osawatomie; three brothers, Myron Mantooth, Lenexa, Kan., and Earl Mantooth and Ray Mantooth, both of Shawnee, Kan.; four sisters, Florence Thomas and Pansy Manooth, both of Blue Springs, Janet Holdeman, Independence, and Frances Cowell, Overland Park, Kan.; six grandchildren, Teresa Kuhlmann, Rod Foster, Shelly Sullivan, Robbie Kitchen, Jodie Kelley and Randy Kitchen; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Tuesday at the Green Valley cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the College Church of the Nazarene, Olathe, Kan. Arrangements were under the direction of the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.
OLLIE M. SHROCK
Ollie Mae Fewel Shrock, 101, Rapid City, S.D., formerly of Independence, died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at a local nursing home in Rapid City.
Mrs. Shrock was born July 25, 1897, in Lewiston, Mo., grew up in Calhoun, Mo., and moved to Rapid City in 1990. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Fewel in 1954, her second husband, Dale Shrock in 1984, and her son, Mack Fewel, in 1992.
Her survivors include a daughter-in-law, Tiny Fewel, Rapid City; two grandsons, Robert Fewel, Rapid City, and Rick Fewel, Denver; a stepdaugher, Anne Dimmel, Independence; and two nieces, Kay Elliot and Eileen DeLozier.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Campbell, Paula &
Quinn Funeral Service, Rapid City. Burial will be at a later date in Calhoun.
BRYAN S. MORRIS
Bryan S. Morris, five-month-old son of Wes and Jennell Morris of Independence, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999.
Bryan was born Sept. 17, 1998, in North Kansas City.
His survivors also include his great-great-grandmother, Eva Ellingsworth, Independence; great-grandparents, George and Mary O'Bleness, Raytown, Jim and Faye Belshe, Eldon, Mo., Tom and Nancy Armstrong, St. Petersburg, Fla., William and Terry Ham, Raytown, Cecil and Pat Lundsford, Glendale, Ariz., and Les and Shirley O'Dell, Independence; grandparents, David and Elise Morris, Smithville, Mo., Nancy Belshe, Raytown, and Jack Belshe, Newton, Kan.; two uncles, Michael Morris, Smithville, and Jason Belshe, Kansas City; one aunt, Jacklyn Belshe, Raytown; and many great-uncles, aunts and cousins.

MILDRED M. HENDERSON
Mildred Marie Henderson, 79, Independence, died Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at the Independence Regional Health Center.
Mrs. Henderson was born Dec. 13, 1918, in Kansas City, and had lived in the Independence area for most of her life. She was a homemaker. She was a Jehovah`s Witness. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Henderson in 1994.
Her survivors include three brothers, Frank Davidson Jr., and Gerald Hughes, both of Independence, and Edward Davidson, Lake Lotawana.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah`s Witness, 2885 Hardy, Independence. Private burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel.
THOMAS J. HUXLEY
Thomas John Huxley, 68, Independence, died Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Huxley was born Nov. 21, 1998, at Kansas City. He was an ironworker.
His survivors include his wife, Helen K. Huxley of the home; a son, Michael J. Huxley, Independence; a daughter, Jill J. Huxley, Independence; and a grandson, Brandon J. Huxley.

EUNICE A. STEVENS
Eunice A. Stevens, 86, Blue Springs, died Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.
Mrs. Stevens was born Oct. 8, 1911, in Heber Springs, Ark. She was a homemaker and a member of the Little Blue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Marjorie Mahan and Betty Hibdon.
Her survivors include a son, Clarance Daniel Simmons, Lawson, Mo.; several brothers and sisters; 12 grandchildren, Debbie Bennett, Pat Newman, Stan Mahan, Sue Rhode, Cheryl Cowley, Vicki Mehrer, Shawnalee Arnold, David Hennessy, Daniel Simmons, and from Independence, Mike Mahan, Curtis Mead, Shelly Patrick; 24 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

LEONA M. ALLINDER
Leona Marie Allinder, 64, Grain Valley, died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at her home.
Mrs. Allinder was born Sept. 16, 1934, in Ottawa, Kan. She was a homemaker. She had been active for many years with the American Legion Post 499.
Her survivors include her husband, James T. Allinder, Grain Valley; four sons, James T. Allinder Jr., Belton, Mo., Larry D. Allinder and Rickie W. Allinder, both of Kansas City, and Michael J. Allinder, Lee's Summit; two daughters, Linda S. Latier, Blue Springs, and Jamie L. Ring, Raytown; three sisters, Mary E. Dannecker, St. Louis, Ellen L. Kiles, Texas, and Edith L. Weber, Grain Valley; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

LUCILLE C. BELL
Lucille Coleman Bell, 82, Independence, died Saturday, April 17, 1999.
Mrs. Bell was born June 29, 1916, in Rich Hill, Mo. She was a 10-year employee of Montgomery Wards, and a 25-year retiree of Amoco Oil Co. She was also a member of the Amoco Retirement Club.
Her survivors include her husband, Harold R. Bell, Independence; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Bill Reed, Rich Hill; a granddaughter, Goldie Rogers; great-granddaughter, Stacey Rogers; nephews, Kenny Bell, Scottie Bell, Mike Bell and Timmy Bell; and a niece, Angie Bell.
