CRAIG A. HUSCHER
Craig Anthony Huscher, 27, Kansas City, formerly of Independence, died Friday, May 1, 1998.
Mr. Huscher was born Oct. 7, 1970, Independence. He was a 1989 graduate of Raytown High Shcool, and in 1993, he received a bachelor`s degree in accounting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and Meyer Boulevard United Methodist Church. He was an associate accountant for Mayer-Hoffman-McCann Accountants.
His survivors include his parents, Ronald and Linda Huscher; a brother, Brent Huscher; paternal grandparents, John and Gladys Huscher; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Angotti; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Park Lawn Chapel, Kansas City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Dream Factory, P.O. Box 33685, Kansas City, Mo. 64120.
MARK A. HYZER
Mark Anthony Hyzer, 38, Independence, died Friday, May 1, 1998.
Mr. Hyzer was born Dec. 8, 1959, in Kansas City, and was a lifelong area resident. He was an over the road truck driver for 17 years.
His survivors include his wife, Jacquetta Susan Constable Hyzer of the home; his parents, Nancy and Harold Hyzer Jr., Warsaw, Mo.; a brother, Harold "Chip" Hyzer III, Pleasant Hill, Mo.; maternal grandmother, Naomi Crouthers, Pleasant Valley, Mo.; paternal grandfather, Harold Hyzer Sr., Warsaw; three stepchildren, Yvette Batye, Yvonne Smith and Troy Waldron, all of Marshall, Mo.; and 11 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Tuesday in Green Lawn cemetery, Kansas City. Arrangements are under the direction of Park Lawn Funeral Home, Kansas City.
CHERRY C. JONES
Cherry C. Jones, 78, Kansas City, formerly of Independence, died Saturday, May 2, 1998.
Ms. Jones was born in September 1920 in Independence and was a lifelong area resident. After a long career in the garment cleaning industry, which included owning her own shop, she retired from Scotch Cleaners in 1985.
Her survivors include a brother, Wynne D. Jones, Independence; two nephews, William L. Jones, Independence, and David H. Jones, Williamsburg, Va.; and many other relatives.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to your favorite charity. Arrangements are under the direction of the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel.
KENNETH W. McVEY
Kenneth W. McVey, 87, Independence, died Friday, May 1, 1998, at Oakwood Manor Care Center.
Mr. McVey was born July 6, 1910, in McCredie, Mo., and had lived in this area for 50 years. He was a baker for Butternut Bakery for 52 years.
His survivors include two sons, Kenneth Duke McVey, St. Joseph, Mo., and Nelson McVey, St. Louis; a sister, Alva McDonald, Independence; a brother, Hugo McVey, St. Louis; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Kansas City. Arrangements are under the direction of Park Lawn Funeral Home.
MARY E. REDDELL
Mary Elizabeth Reddell, 74, San Angelo, Texas, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, in a Houston hospital.
Mrs. Reddell was born Nov. 30, 1923, in Pynett, Ark., and had lived in San Angelo since 1977. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Her survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Jarratt, San Angelo; two sisters, Maude Adams, Independence, and Vera Richardson, Los Angeles; three grandchildren, Brandon Fletcher, and Brittany and Crystal Jarratt; and a special friend, Ora Thornton, San Angelo.
Services were Saturday at the White Funeral Home Chapel, Idalou, Texas. Burial was in Idalou cemetery.
HENRY A. RENNE III
Henry Aloysius Renne III, 59, Independence, died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.
Mr. Renne was born July 28, 1938, in Kansas City. He was manager of the Campbell Oil Gas Station at 8301 Truman Road. He was a retired Navy chief, having served in the Vietnam War, and was a Catholic by faith.
His survivors include his wife, Cleta Renne, and a son, Andrew James Renne, both of the home; and four sisters, Betty Beninghoff, Freemont, Ind., Leah Johnson, McAlester, Okla., Evelyn Limmer, Boscawen, N.H., and Lucille Rankin, Belton, Mo.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs. Burial will be in Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Contributions are suggested to the family.
OTIS E. "ED" SPEAKE
Otis Edward "Ed" Speake, 71, Independence, died Friday, May 1, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Speake was born Nov. 6, 1926, in Springfield, Mo., and was a lifelong area resident. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, an Army veteran of World War II, and received the Victory Medal.
His survivors include his wife, Maude Ellen Speake, Independence; a daughter, Jo Ellen Tucker, Denver; a stepson, Scott Hildebrand, Parkville, Mo.; five stepdaughters, Cherrian West and Denise Fisher, both of Independence, Alnita Anderson, Grain Valley, Donna Remmer, Blue Springs, and Diana Elbert, St. Louis; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Sheil Colonial Chapel, Kansas City. Cremation, with inurnment at Floral Hills East cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
RUTH R. WILLIAMS
Ruth Regina Williams, 85, Independence, died Saturday, May 2, 1998.
Mrs. Williams was born July 2, 1912, in Aurora, Colo., and had lived in this area since 1949. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert L. Williams in 1996.
Her survivors include a sister, Burnadette Belmonte, San Francisco; three daughters and one son-in-law, Regina Cammack, Debbie and Phil Morreale, and Nana Maenza; one son, Del Roy Williams; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Side cemetery, Sumner, Mo. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Independence Regional Health Center Hospice.
JOHN M. JONES
John Mayes Jones, 89, Raytown, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at Research Medical Center.
Mr. Jones was born Aug. 18, 1909, in Warrensburg, Mo. He attended high school and Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg. He served in the U.S. Air Force, where he attained the rank of staff sergeant, and served in Panama for two years. He joined the Fighter Squadron Commandos, and served in C.B.I. for two years. He worked for the Phillips Petroleum Co. and after retiring, he became a house painter, which he did for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
His survivors include his wife, Mary Jones of the home; one cousin, Keith Jones, Warrensburg; a brother-in-law, G.C. Hull, Raytown; a sister-in-law, Helen Potts, Jackson, Miss.; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. There will be no family visitation; however, friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Raytown Christian Church.
JAMES M. LONG
James Munsey Long, 63, Independence, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Long was born in San Jose, Calif., and lived in San Jose before moving to this area in early 1998. He was a self-employed construction worker, and was an Army veteran of the Korean War era.
His survivors include one son, Alva Long; three daughters, Dede, Cheri and Renee; one brother, Clarence; three sisters, Maxine, Viola and Lorraine; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services were today at Leavenworth National cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Speaks Suburban Chapel.
HERBERT W. WILLMARTH
Herbert W. Willmarth, 81, Kansas City, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Willmarth was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Independence, the MO Show Me Camping Club, and the Unity Church of Independence.
His survivors include his wife, Leta Willmarth of the home; one son, Herbert R. Willmarth, Jefferson City; two daughters and one son-in-law, Janice Ro-Trock, Mission, Kan., and Dolores and Joe Riddle, Lee`s Summit; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at D.W. Newcomer`s Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the church.
DEAN HENDERSON
Dean Henderson, 63, Blue Springs, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at St. Mary`s Hospital of Blue Springs.
Mr. Henderson was born Sept. 8, 1935, in Monett, Mo., and lived in Monett and Southern California before moving to Blue Springs in 1991. He was a member of Moose Lodge in Paradise, Calif.
His survivors include his wife, Linda Henderson of the home; one son, Paul Dean Henderson Jr., Orthez, France; two daughters, Debbie Henderson, Ventura, Calif., and Cathy Peppas, Paradise; two stepdaughters, Laura Allen, Grain Valley, and Pamela Lawton, Bates City; two brothers, Richard Henderson, Blue Springs, and Phil Henderson, Independence; one sister, Shirley Rhae, Monett; his father, Chester Henderson, Monett.
Private family memorial services. Arrangements are under the direction of New Salem Funeral Home.
WILLIS JACKSON
Willis Jackson, 77, Prescott, Kan., died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Jackson was born June 15, 1921, in Bates County, Mo. He had been a farmer, laborer and a security guard with the power plant. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion and the United Methodist Church in Prescott. He was preceded in death by his wife, Naoma Bell White Jackson in 1995, and one son, Bradley White Jackson.
His survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Alice and Jack Jeserick, LaCygne, Kan., Willa Mae and Paul Jones, Gardner, Kan., and Zo Ann and Don Casida, Prescott; two brothers, Orrie Jackson and Marvin Jackson, both of Independence; four sisters, Mary Catherine Brittingham, Belton, Mo., Della Campfield, Independence, Marilyn Wise, Bates City, and Betty Thornburg, Rich Hill, Mo.; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Prescott. Burial will be in Prescott cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Coffel-Schneider-Torneden Funeral Home, Pleasanton, Kan.
JAMES W. "J.W." KING
James W. "J.W." King, 80, Independence, died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.
Mr. King was born April 24, 1918, in Arlington, Ky. He was an iron worker and a member of Iron Workers Local 10. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1000.
His survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James and Linda King, Independence; one daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Robert Wheeler, Lawson, Mo.; three grandchildren, James King, Kristina Porter and Teri Wilmes; six great-grandchildren, Michael and Matthew King, Staci and Jerron Porter, and Megan and Shayna Wilmes; one brother, Eugene Hedrick, Memphis, Tenn.; and one sister, Lottie Morgan, Clinton, Ky.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the chapel.
RILLA L. JOHNSON
Rilla L. Johnson, 94, Independence, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at the Rosewood Care Center.
Mrs. Johnson was born Dec. 13, 1904, in New Trenton, Ind., and had lived in Independence most of her life. She was a member of the Enoch Hill RLDS congregation. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Delbert Johnson.
Her survivors include two sisters, Vera G. Riddle, Independence, and Gladys Thomas, Lee's Summit.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. The family suggests contributions to The Groves.
