H. DEAN MARQUARDT

H. Dean Marquardt, 84, Independence, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, at the Liberty Terrace Care Center.

Mr. Marquardt was born Dec. 12, 1913, in Garfield, Kan., and had lived in Independence most of his life. He was the owner and operator of Teefey Flowers, retiring in 1985. He wasa member of the First United Methodist Church, Breakfast at Eight Club, McDonald Masonic Lodge 324, Northland Seniors Golf Association and the Southland Seniors Golf Association. He was past president of the Sertoma Club and had been an assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 173 in Independence. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. Marquardt in 1997.

Her survivors include a son, John Marquardt, Liberty, Mo.; a daughter, Pat Agnew, St. Louis; three grandchildren, Peggy Baker, Michael Agnew and Sarah Marquardt; and two great-grandsons, Brian Baker and Brent Baker.

A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Sertoma Club of Kansas City, Vencare Hospice, Hospice Care of St. Mary`s Hospital of Blue Springs, or the First United Methodist Church of Independence.

RONALD W. MARRIOTT

Ronald Wayne Marriott, 56, Blue Springs, died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Marriott was born in Stover, Mo. He was a self-employed salesman and land developer, and was a member of the Plaza Heights Baptist Church.

His survivors include his wife, Pat Marriott, Blue Springs; a son, Kevin Marriott, Independence; a daughter, Kim Carroll, Oak Grove; three brothers, Don Marriott, Lee`s Summit, Lonnie Marriott, Grain Valley, and Loren Marriott, Harrison, Ark.; one sister, Darlene Francis, Peculiar, Mo.; and one grandson, Seth Marriott.

Services were today at the church. Burial was in Woodland cemetery, Richmond, Mo. The family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer`s Association.

JOHN P. PRUETTING

John P. Pruetting, 60, Independence, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, at St. Luke`s Hospital.

Mr. Pruetting was born April 28, 1937, in St. Charles, Ill., and had lived in this area since 1941. He worked for Midland Lithographing for 42 years, retiring in 1996. He was an active member of the Kansas City Lithocraftsmen`s Club and the Breathe Easy Support Group, which helped him with his emphysema. He supported the American Lung Association, and felt strongly about its continued research. He was also a member of the GICU Union, American Association of Retired Persons, and St. Mark`s Catholic Church.

His survivors include his wife of 41 years, Wanda J. Pruetting of the home; two sons, John Phillip Prueting Jr., Independence, and Mike Pruetting, Lee`s Summit; a daughter, Nora Jean Pruetting, and his mother, Nora Pruetting, both of Independence; a brother, Jim Pruetting, Kansas City; and three grandchildren, Natalie Pruetting, Madison Pruetting and Jake Pruetting.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church, and a funeralmass will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Moriah cemetery, Kansas City. The family suggests contributions to the American Lung Association.

ROSEMARY A. STALLSWORTH

Rosemary Ann Stallsworth, 35, Kansas City, died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, in Independence.

Mrs. Stallsworth was born in Mount Ayr, Iowa. She was a homemaker.

Her survivors include her husband, David L. Stallsworth; a son, Erik, and two daughters, Jennifer and Lakota, all of the home; four brothers, Bill, Charles, George and Joe; one sister, Eugenie; and her father, Walter Baldwin. Services will be at 7 tonight at the Blue Ridge RLDS Church, 3371 Blue RidgeBlvd. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up for the children with the church, in care of Joe Baldwin.

RUBEN R FULLER

Ruben R. Fuller, 84, Knob Noster, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at his home.

He was born March 17, 1914, in Dresden, Mo. He married Marjorie F. Pittenger in Warrensburg, Mo., Aug. 27, 1938.

Mr. Fuller lived most of his life in the Knob Noster area, where he was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Fuller, of the home; son James W. Fuller, Columbia, Mo.; three daughters, Janet Scott, Blue Springs, Sharon Kay Reynolds, Warrensburg, Mo., and Sherry R. Wessing, Pilot Grove; three sisters Ada Bell Vest, Kamiah, Idaho, Ruth Grandestaff, Knob Noster, and Anna Mae Funk, Stebnight Idaho; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m Sunday in the Sweeney-Phillips & Holden Funeral Home, Warrensburg, with burial in Knob Noster cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Johnson County Hospice.

All arrangements are under the direction of the Sweeney-Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.

ORA F. SARVER

Ora F. Sarva, 95, Independence, died Feb. 25, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Sarver was born Nov. 4, 1903, in Rising City, Neb. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Independence and had lived in Independence for 59 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne M. Sarver, in 1990.

Survivors include one son, Patrick Sarver, and two gransons, Eric and Matthew Sarver, all of Bernardsville, N.J.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m Tuesday in the George C. Carson and Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m to 7:30 p.m. Monday in the George C. Carson and Sons Independence Chapel.

YVONNE M. ADAMS

Yvonne M. Adams, 69, Buckner, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at the Monterey Park Nursing Home.

Mrs. Adams was born July 9, 1929, in Portland, Maine, and had lived in Buckner for the past several years. She was a homemaker, and a Jehovah's Witness. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Bryan Siedler.

Her survivors include four daughters, Linda L. Tate and Lorrie A. Smith, both of San Diego, Anita M. Stroud, Buckner, and Karen J. Granahan, Blue Springs; one brother, Robert Saunders, Florida; one sister, Norma Twiombly; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Graveside memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Buckner Hill cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the American Lung Association, for emphysema research. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brown Funeral Home, Buckner.

BOBBIE STEWART

Bobbie Wikke Stewart, 61, Independence, died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mrs. Stewart was born March 30, 1937, in Tucson, Ariz., and had lived in Independence most of her life. She was the women's editor for The Examiner from 1959 to 1961. She was past president and a member of the Independence Young Matrons, a member of the Jackson County Historical Society, and was the editor of its newsletter. She was also a member of the Delta Sigma Upsilon sorority, and the First Presbyterian Church of Independence.

Her survivors include her husband, Hugh Stewart of the home; three daughters, Heather Stewart and Holly Stewart-Joy, both of Independence, and Hayley Stewart Carter, Greenville, S.C.; one sister, Bonnie W. Haldeman, and her parents, Ralph and Jewell Wikke, all of Lakeland, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 8 tonight at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Friends may call from 7 to 8 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Stroke Foundation, 5350 W. 94th Terrace, Kansas City, Mo. 66207.

LEONARD E. "LENNY" BALCER

Leonard E. "Lenny" Balcer, 72, Odessa, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. Balcer was born April 3, 1926, in Chicago, and lived in Cicero, Ill., before moving to Odessa in 1991. He worked for Danly Machines Specialty Co. in Chicago from 1947 to 1986, and was a member of the United Steel Workers of America. He was a member of St. George's Catholic Church, Odessa, and an Army Tank Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a 1944 graduate of Harrison High School, Chicago, a member of Holy Names Society at Mary, Queen of Heavens Church in Chicago, and was formerly a member of the Moose Lodge in Cicero.

His survivors include his wife, Rose C. Paone Balcer of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Nancy Balcer, Bartlett, Ill., and Timothy and Jessica Balcer, Cambridge, Mass.; one brother, Raymond Balcer, Chicago; one sister, Esther Poda, Palos Hills, Ill.; and two grandchildren, Crystal and Justin Balcer.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. George's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Carmel cemetery, Cicero. Friends may call until 9 tonight at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, Odessa, where the rosary will be said at 7 p.m. The family suggests contributions to your favorite charity.

GLAPHA A. ELLIOTT

Glapha Adeline Elliott, 99, Oak Grove, died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at the Crescent Health Care Center of Oak Grove.

Mrs. Elliott was born April 14, 1899, in Carroll County, Mo., and had lived in Oak Grove since 1948. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sanford Elliott in 1979, and two sons, Roger and Charles Elliott.

Her survivors include three sons, Donald Elliott, Grandview, Joe Elliott, Odessa, and John Elliott, Blue Springs; two daughters, Louise Henderson, Springfield, Mo., and Mavis Oksa, Plano, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

TERRY G. WHISENAND

Terry G. Whisenand, 51, Independence, died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at Research Medical Center.

Mr. Whisenand was born Sept. 21, 1946, in Brookfield, Mo. He was employed by the ROM Corporation.

His survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Bill Jewett, Blue Springs; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Paul Whisenand, Fort Madison, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel.

PHILOMENA K. CAVANAUGH

Philomena Katherine Cavanaugh, 97, Kansas City, died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at the Little Sisters of the Poor.

Mrs. Cavanaugh was born Feb. 11, 1901, in Weir, Kan. She formerly worked for National Bellas Hess.

Her survivors include a son, Richard Joseph Cavanaugh, Kansas City; a sister-in-law, Dorothy A. Fiechtl, Independence; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Little Sisters of the Poor, 8745 James A. Reed Road. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the Little Sisters of the Poor, where a rosary/prayer service will be held at 6:45 p.m. The family suggests contributions to the Little Sisters of the Poor. Arrangements are under the direction of the McGilley Midtown Chapel.

COLENE CONSTANT

Colene Constant, 62, Centerview, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Constant was born Dec. 7, 1935, in Martinsville, Mo., and lived in Independence from 1961 until moving to Centerview in 1977. She was a homemaker. She was baptized at the Beaumont Baptist Church in Kansas City, and was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Independence. She was formerly active in PTA, Boy Scouts of America and was a room mother. She was a graduate of Mount Moriah Elementary School, Hatfield, Mo., and graduated from high school in Sheridan, Mo.

Her survivors include her husband, Roy Dale Constant of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Roy and Vicki Constant, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lynda and Charles Passiglia, Lee's Summit, and Tricia and Kevin Manning, and Nancy and Chad Davis, all of Warrensburg, Mo.; a brother, Royce Groom, Shawnee, Kan.; a sister, Lois Craig, Ridgeway, Mo.; and eight grandchildren, Robert, Holly and Steven Mannering, Ryan Davis, Darren Nipper, DeAnna Passiglia, Kelsi Constant and Brettni Bishop.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home, Warrensburg. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

MILFORD M. NACE

Milford M. Nace, 88, Independence, died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. Nace was born Nov. 17, 1909, in Independence, and was a lifelong Independence resident. He was a piano tuner for many years, was a former member of the Lions Club, an elder in the Farview Restoration Branch Church, and an avid domino player. He was head chaplain and assistant pastor of Resthaven, a long time choir director at Walnut Park RLDS Church, and a well revered celloist.

His survivors include his wife of more than 60 years, Vera Nace of the home; two sons, Norman E. Nace, Renton, Wash., and James M. Nace, Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel.

DEBORAH A. "DEBBIE" DURRILL

Deborah A. "Debbie" Durrill, 47, Sugar Creek, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at Park Lane Medical Center.

Ms. Durrill was born July 22, 1951, in Paducah, Ky.

Her survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Shawn Hibdon, Blue Springs; her father and stepmother, John and Mary Tryon, Independence; three sisters, Vicki Boss, Muscatine, Iowa, Theresa Wright, Independence, and Beverly Luther, Dallas; a brother, John Tryon, Independence; two grandchildren, Ciara and Steele Hibdon of Blue Springs; and her fiance, Mike Jones, Sugar Creek.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the chapel.
