Jack McQueen
Jack McQueen, age 82, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at his home.
Jack was born July 24, 1929 in Fairbanks, Texas, the son of Porter and Selma (Gipson) McQueen. He attended Lowground Grade School and graduated from Unionville High School in Missouri.
On February 3, 1951 he married
Mae Leonard in Lowground, Missouri. She survives of the home.
Jack served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as an auto mechanic for McClure Motors, Kassen Earickson, and Ford-Chrysler Motors in Marshall. He was a member of the Carrollton Church of Christ where he served as an elder.
Jack is also survived by five children, Jane Hill, Greenwood, Missouri; Pam Rafferty and husband, Tom, Marshall, Missouri; Ronald McQueen, Carrollton, Missouri; Eldon McQueen, Manassas, Virginia; Joe McQueen and wife, Alberta, Carrollton, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
His parents, one brother, Robert McQueen, and one sister, Daisy Jane McQueen, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2011 with funeral services following at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri. Steve Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Trotter cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.

Jewell Icel Newton
Jewell Icel Newton, age 79, formerly of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at St. Lukes North Hospital.
Jewell was born June 22, 1932 in DeWitt, Missouri, the daughter of Tracey and Icel (Wolfe) Newton. She attended Breckenridge High School. Jewell was retired from Banquet Foods in Carrollton, and attended the Southside Baptist Church. She had recently resided at Grand River Health Care in Chillicothe, Missouri.
Jewell is survived by one sister, Genevieve Newton, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, November 7, 2011 at Rock Branch cemetery, Tina, Missouri.

Nina Jane Niederjohn
Nina Jane Niederjohn, age 90, formerly of Waverly, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 4, 2011 at Lafayette Regional Health Center in Lexington, Missouri.
Nina was born July 31, 1921 in Waverly, Missouri, the daughter of Lee Algin and Maymie (Crank) Kappelman. She graduated from Waverly High School and Warrensburg Teachers College.
On February 21, 1945 Nina married
Edwin Theodore Niederjohn. He preceded her in death on February 18, 1978.
She taught kindergarten and preschool at Waverly, and had also taught school at Three Groves, Dover, Hazel Hill and Hickory Grove. Nina was a member of the United Methodist Church of Waverly, and a charter member of the Hazel Hill Extension Club.
Nina is survived by two children, Donna Windmeyer, Mooresville, Missouri; James Niederjohn, Boonville, Missouri; a former daughter-in-law, Diane Schmidt, Waverly, Missouri; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Her parents, two sons, David Robert and Henry Eugene Niederjohn, and one brother, who died when he was three days old, also preceded her in death.
Visitation was from 6-8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the Waverly United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 7, 2011 at the Waverly United Methodist Church with Reverend Bill Milligan officiating. Burial was in Waverly cemetery.

Zelma Jean Brown
Zelma Jean (Ocheltree) Brown passed away on Friday, May 11th at Timberlake Care Center. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 14th from 10:00am – 11:30am at Missouri Funeral Care in Raytown followed by burial at 1:00pm at Rowland Family cemetery outside Orrick,MO. Zelma was preceded in death by her husband John I. Brown Jr and her parents Jean H and Zelma E. Ocheltree. She was born in Kansas City, MO on January 31, 1932, graduated from Westport High School in 1948, was married
in 1949, and resided in Raytown, MO for much of her life. After her children were raised Zelma worked in Raytown where she wrote a weekly column entitled “Pondering This and That” and sold advertising. Zelma was also active in several volunteer organizations in Raytown, MO and Cold Spring Harbor, NY. She was a charter member of Countryside Methodist Church. Zelma enjoyed painting, reading, gardening and genealogy. Zelma and her sister caught the genealogy bug and spent untold days combing courthouses and cemeteries in their quest for family roots. She is survived by three sons, John I Brown III (Irene), Tom Brown (Sue Moon), and Ken Brown, grandchildren John, Laura, Peter, Bryan, Abby Jean, Penny and Molly, sister Nancy B Seward (Don), four nieces and one nephew. The family would like to thank Timberlake Care Center for the care they provided to Zelma for the past four years. The staff at Timberlake told us many stories of how Zelma kept them in stitches with her comments and observations while there. We would also like to thank Angela, Trudy and Rosetta of Grace Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Zelma. The family suggests memorial contributions to Grace Hospice (9233 Ward Parkway, Suite 201, KCMO 64114) in lieu of flowers.
Betty J. Lawson
Betty J. Lawson, age 87, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Carroll House.
Betty was born April 14, 1925 in Kirksville, Missouri. She graduated from high school in Kirksville, Missouri.
On April 14, 1942 she married
Harm D. Lawson in Greentop, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1988. .
Betty worked at McGraw-Edison in Kirksville until she and her husband moved to Carrollton where she worked for Banquet Foods until retiring. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Carrollton.
Betty is survived by five children, Paul Lawson, Carrollton, Missouri; Cheryl Anthony and husband, Allan, Raymore, Missouri; Dale Lawson and wife, Kyoko, Warrensburg, Missouri; Dennis Lawson, Carrollton, Missouri; Brenda Boling, Lexington, Missouri; one sister, Lucille Dabney, Kirksville, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, Richard Lawson, Lisa Meisenheimer, David Lawson, Rhonda Clavin, Mary D. Bristow, Jimmy Boling, Alan D. Lawson, Charlie Lewis, Rebekah Wright, William Wright, Jennifer Charlton; and numerous great grandchildren.
Her parents, one son, Frank Lawson; one daughter, Debra Wright; and one granddaughter, Sarah Beth Wright; also preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Oak Hill cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating.
Family and Friends may sign the guest book at Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton until service time on Thursday.

Amos "Jewell" Heddings
Amos “Jewell” Heddings, 77, of Carrollton, Missouri went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Life Care Center in Carrollton, Missouri.
Jewell was born May 20, 1935 in Roads, Missouri to Amos Robinson and Inez (Green) Heddings, both of whom preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Peggy (Rowlett) Heddings of the home, two sons, Larry Heddings of Carrollton, Missouri; David and Traci Heddings of Carrollton, Missouri; one daughter Shelley and Donal Pangborn of Richmond, Missouri; Grandchildren; Paul Heddings and Taylor Heddings of Carrollton, Missouri; Danielle Pangborn and Donnie Pangborn of Richmond, Missouri; two great grandchildren, Abe Arthur and Eli Bowman of Richmond, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Jewell was preceded in death by one brother, Elvin Heddings, and granddaughter, Allison Pangborn.
Jewell was a farmer and owned Heddings Breeding Service, and enjoyed gardening, until his stroke 28 years ago.
Visitation was held from 6-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.
Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Ebenezer cemetery, Bogard, Missouri.

Robert Hohimer
Robert M. "Bob" Hohimer, 82, Independence, MO, passed away May 9, 2012. Burial will be in Enon cemetery, Dawn, MO. At Bob's request, there will be no services. Bob was born September 3, 1929 in Brookfield, MO. He retired from Kerr-McGee after 34 years. He is survived by his wife, Mildred (Heath) Hohimer of the home; and many nieces and nephews.
Beverly Jean Baggs
Beverly Jean Baggs, age 73, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Carroll House.
Beverly was born January 19,1939 in Mandeville, Missouri, the daughter of Glennie C. and Emma C. (Moore) Hall. She attended school in Bogard, Missouri, and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1957.
On April 16, 1960 she married
Robert W. Baggs at the First Baptist Church in Carrollton, Missouri. He survives of the home.
Beverly was a homemaker and had been employed as a secretary. She was a member of the Carrollton Church of Christ.
Beverly is also survived by four sons, Roger F. Baggs and wife, Ginny, Higginsville, Missouri; Timothy P. Baggs, Odessa, Missouri; Curtis R. Baggs, Carrollton, Missouri; Charles W. Baggs and his partner, Keith Frank, Las Vegas, Nevada; two sisters, Betty Brown, Dickson, Tennessee; Pat Brazier, Old Hickory, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, John Baggs and wife, Brea, Independence, Missouri; Traci, Joshua, and Jacob Baggs, Higginsville, Missouri; Jordan and Christopher Baggs, Columbia, Missouri; Charles Warner Baggs-Frank, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Her parents, uncle, Wayne Moore, and several other aunts and uncles, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2012 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri.

Waynema Cecil Peltier
Waynema Peltier, 84 of Carrollton went to her heavenly home on June 11, 2012 at Life Care Center in Carrollton. Waynema Cecil Gray was born on March 27, 1928 in Wakenda to Wayne and Alyce (Ballenger) Gray. She was the firstborn of three children. Her siblings, who preceded her in death, were Charlene Mildred Gray (Parton) and James Edward Gray. She attended school in Wakenda and graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1946. She was a star percussionist in the Excelsior Springs High School band.
Waynema met John “Doris” Peltier at the Church of Christ in Wakenda and they married
on May 30, 1952 in the home of Marvin and Roberta Mayden in Rural Wakenda. Shortly after they were married
, they moved from Kansas City and resided on a farm north of Wakenda, in a house built by Doris’ hands, for most of their married
years, relocating to a home in Carrollton at retirement. The marriage was blessed with two daughters, Rebecca Jane and Deborah Kay. They spent 40 happy years together until Doris left this earth on December 1, 1992.
Waynema was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and could always be found in church whenever a service was held. She and Doris diligently raised their daughters to live in the faith and values they shared. Waynema was a founding member of the TOPS organization in Carrollton, an active member of the Wakenda PTA and the Sunshine Society, and was a project leader in the Peppy Workers 4-H Club. In later years, she was a zealous volunteer at the Life Care Center of Carrollton, sharing her musical talents by playing the piano and singing, and leading Bible Study. She also donated her time to help children with difficulties in reading at the elementary schools. Waynema received many honors and awards for her volunteerism in the community.
Waynema worked in offices in Kansas City, a shoe factory, Stanford Laundry, sold Avon, and spent 16 years working at Marshall State School and Hospital. She also cared for sick relatives in their homes, even in her late 70’s. While their daughters were growing up, she worked at home, selling eggs and milk and tending to the livestock and a large garden.
Waynema is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca Jane Smith and husband Ron of Carrollton, and Deborah Kay Perry and husband Keith of Elgin, Illinois; four grandchildren, Aaron Perry and wife Angela, Adam Perry and wife Lindsay, Cecelia Sears and husband Zach, and Murrell Louis Smith and wife Katie; four great grandchildren, Gavin Thomas Perry, Indiana Alexander Sears, Camryn Bryn Perry, and Landon Thomas Perry; and several cousins, nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held at Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton on Sunday, June 17, 6-8 p.m., and the funeral service, a celebration of Waynema's life, faith, and entry into heaven will be held on Monday, June 18 at 11 a.m. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Life Care Center Volunteer Program. Kenneth George Emmett
Kenneth George Emmett, age 95, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Carroll House.
Kenneth was born November 11, 1916 in Carroll County, Missouri, the son of William and Sylvia (George) Emmett. He attended Star Grade School, Grace Grade School and Carrollton High School. He was in the United States Army during World War II.
Kenneth had worked in maintenance at the Missouri State School in Carrollton; had operated Mary Ann Flower Shop for a number of years, and worked for Gibson Funeral Homes for a short time. He was a member of the Carrollton United Methodist Church.
Kenneth is survived by two children, William K. (Bill) Emmett and wife, Cheryl, Foley, Alabama; Nancy Volkart and husband, Randy, Bradenton, Florida; one sister, Corinne Pence and husband, Harold, Carrollton, Missouri; one grandson, Christopher Volkart, Sarasota, Florida.
His parents, two spouses, one brother, Eugene Emmett, and one sister, Margaret Morgan, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012 with funeral services following at 11:00 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Anselm Williams officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer cemetery, Bogard, Missouri.

Hazel Janiese Chambers
Hazel Janiese Chambers, age 84, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Carroll House.
Janiese was born February 13, 1928 in Bosworth, Missouri, the daughter of Lester Clyde and Ollie Mae (Kuhn) Chambers.
Janiese graduated from Bosworth High School. She had been employed in housekeeping at Carroll County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Bosworth Christian Church.
Janiese is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Her parents and two sisters, Neva Smalley and Nedra Sutherland, preceded her in death.
The body will lie in state at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, on Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 2-5:00 p.m. and on Friday, July 20, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until the graveside service time at 1:00 p.m. at Wharton cemetery, Bosworth, Missouri.
