Buena L. Tucker

Buena L. Tucker, age 78, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away on April 17, 2009 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.

She was born January 3, 1931 in Iola, Kansas the daughter of Fred Morton and Verena Gertrude (Churchhill) Pugh. She attended school in Humbolt, Kansas.

On April 12, 1947 she married Elmer Gordon Watts, in Iola, Kansas, then later married Jesse O. Tucker on June 9, 1979 in Savonburg, Kansas, he preceded her in death on August13, 2004.

She worked at Banquet Foods, and at the Methodist Church Day Care Center.

Buena was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Carrollton, Missouri, and a member of the Red Hatter’s.

Buena is survived by one son, Rodger Watts and wife Helga, Harrisonville, Missouri, a step-son, Gordon Watts, Lawson, Missouri, one brother, Bob Pugh, Dunkerton, Iowa, three sisters, Shirley Haddan, Stark, Kansas, Freda Bell, Chanute, Kansas, Linda Sandage, Raymore, Missouri, five grandchildren, Carah Watts, Tyler Watts, Haley Watts, Eric Wilson, Brent Wilson, and six great grandchildren.

Her parents and one daughter, Sandra Joyce Wilson, preceded her in death.

Gravedside services were held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 20, 2009 at Oak Hill cemetery with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating.

Visitation was held from 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

The family suggests contributions be made to H.E.L.P. Services Cancer Fund in memory of Buena. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Billy Allen Martin

Billy Allen Martin, age 78, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at North Kansas City Hospital.

Billy was born May 31, 1930 in DeWitt, Missouri, the son of George Raymond and Ethel Evelyn (Francis) Martin. He attended Carrollton schools.

On September 17, 1949 he married Barbara Van Deventer in Ephrata, Washington. She preceded him in death on April 18, 1997.

Billy married Doris Jean (Stanley) Hardin on May 9, 1998 in Warsaw, Missouri. She survives at the home.

Billy served in the United States Air Force from 1947 to 1950. He was stationed at Moses Lake Airforce Base in Moses Lake, Washington and was discharged with the rank of Corporal. Billy and his wife Barbara owned and operated Martin Plumbing and Heating. He was an active member of the Carrollton community serving as Councilman for Ward I for three years; on the Carrollton Fire Department from 1952 to 1983; was Secretary-Treasurer of the Fire Fighters Association of Missouri for eighteen years; was a member of the Wakanda Lodge #52 where he served as Worshipful Master and District Deputy Grand Lecture; was the first President of the Carrollton Band Booster Club and was one of the founders of Girls Softball which later expanded into Carroll County Girls Softball Little League. He also held the responsibilties of manager, coach and umpire. He had also served as Fire Chief for the North Central Carroll Fire Protection District for five years, retiring in 1999. Billy was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Carrollton and the I.O.O.F.

Billy is also survived by his daughters, Scarlet Horine, Carrollton, Missouri; Sherry Pippin and husband Glen, LaPlata, Missouri; Shelly Arth and husband Michael, Grand Pass, Missouri, Shelia Arnold and husband Dale, Grain Valley, Missouri, Sandi Bjerrum and husband Bill, Gladstone, Missouri; step-children, Tony and Pam Oden, DeWitt, Missouri; Debbie Lynn, Independence, Missouri; Ron and Christine Oden, Welsh, Louisiana; Vicky and Rick Carlson, Merriam, Kansas; one sister, Shirley Pankau, St. Joseph, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Erin Brockert and husband Henry, Carrollton, Missouri; Kristin Parkinson, Columbia, Missouri; Andy Horine and fiance, Pam King, Kirksville, Missouri; Billy Pippin and Clifton Pippin, LaPlata, Missouri; Kimberly Byerly and husband Derek, Waverly, Missouri; Katie Schowengerdt and husband Brian, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Danielle Arnold, Grain Valley, Missouri; Brett Bjerrum and Alex Bjerrum, Gladstone, Missouri; step-grandchildren, Amy Barrick, Brandon Oden, Samantha Warner, Brandy Gary, Dana Gary, Carrie Hartwig, Bryan Lynn, Chad Oden, Casey Oden, Phillip Schott Henderson, Jennie Scott, Ryan Oden, Megan Oden; two great grandsons, Chase Pippin, Kirksville, Missouri and Tucker Byerly, Waverly, Missouri.

His parents, step-father, Roy C. Martin, step-son, Tim Oden; step-grandsons, Wade and Cory Oden and step-granddaughter, Brandy Oden, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2009 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Ken Prewitt officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Park cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

The family suggests contributions be made to the Fire Fighters Association of Missouri Memorial or the Wakanda Lodge Scholarship. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Kenneth Edwin Gottschalk

Kenneth Edwin Gottschalk, 88, of Whittier, CA and a former Brunswick, MO resident died on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Dove Hospice House in Whittier, CA. He was born on October 29, 1920 at Brunswick, MO the son of Louis Henry and Beulah Belle Dill Gottschalk. He served his country during WWII as a member of the U.S. Army. He had been a Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his fiancé Esther Coladi of Whittier, CA and one sister-in-law, Doris Gottschalk of Brunswick, MO. He was preceded in death by one brother, Leslie Gottschalk and his parents. Graveside services were held in the Elliott Grove cemetery at Brunswick, MO, Friday, April 24, 2009, Pastor Glen Drewitz officiated. Military Honors were provided by Rucker-McAllister Post # 7 American Legion of Brunswick, MO. Funeral arrangements were by the Gibson Funeral Home at Brunswick, MO.

Kenneth Burl Musick

Kenneth (Burl) Musick, age 90, passed away April 26, 2009, at the Life Care Center in Carrollton, MO. Burl was born March 15, 1919 to Roscoe Burton and Elvina (Tietjens) Musick in rural Brunswick, MO. Burl was united in marriage to Lois E. (Irick) on June 8, 1945 in rural Carrollton, MO. She survives at the Life Care Center in Carrollton, MO.

Burl was educated in country schools in Carroll County and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1937. Burl spent most of his life farming. He worked for Kassen-Earickson Ford, D & L Sheet Metal and the Carrollton School District. He was a member of the Carrollton United Methodist Church.

Burl is survived by his wife and four children, Kenneth J. Musick and wife, Susan, Bogard, MO; Jean A. Lee and husband, Ed, Columbia, MO; Nadine E. Hays and husband, Stanley, Mexico, MO; and Wanda S. Witthar and husband, David, Carrollton, MO.

He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Jonathan T. Pardeck and wife, Megan, St. Louis, MO; James K. Pardeck, Springfield, MO; Jeremiah Hays and wife, Lorrie, Mexico, MO; Matthew S. Musick, Bogard, MO; Zachary Hays, Mexico, MO; Loralee Hays, Mexico, MO and Molly and Abigail Pardeck, St. Louis, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Eleanor Gonder, and one son-in-law, Dr. John T. Pardeck.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 3:00 p.m., at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri. Burial will be in Van Horn cemetery, Bogard, Missouri.

Mr. Musick will lie in state until service time on Wednesday.

Margaret Lewis

Margaret Ellen Lewis, 87, Raytown, MO went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 18, 2009, one day after her 87th birthday. Friends may call 7-8 pm, Friday, April 24, 2009 at Missouri Funeral Care, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO at 816-353-1700. Funeral service will be 10 am, Saturday, April 25th at the funeral home. Burial in Floral Hills cemetery. Mrs. Lewis was born April 17, 1922. Margaret was the daughter of the late Oscar and Hazel Adamson. She was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, MO and Raytown, MO, graduating from Northeast High School. A longtime member of First Baptist Church of Raytown, Margaret was active in that fellowship for many years. She was a member of Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church before that and a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick H. Lewis, Jr. Mrs. Lewis is survived by her three sons, Patrick III, Michael, and Terry; five grandhcildren, Shawn, Dana, Ashley Lewis Cheek, Patrick Lee, Camille; and six great grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be greatly missed.

Skyler Tolson

Skyler D. Tolson was born July 15, 1985, to the late Walter T. Tolson and Renee C. Tolson of Blue Springs, Mo. They raised Skyler and his brothers, Xavier O'Neil and Zachary Stonemichael, in Blue Springs. Skyler attended and completed his education in the Blue Springs School District. Sky's education began with Thomas Ultican Elementary followed by Delta Woods Middle School and completed with his graduation from Blue Springs High School in May 2004. He was in his senior year of college at Missouri State University when a second cancer was discovered. He succeeded in defeating that cancer as well as a cancer when he was 12 years old. Due to an odd set of circumstances and a terrific battle, Skyler joined his dad on Monday, April 27, 2009. To cherish Skyler's memories are his immediate family, mother, Renee; brothers, Xavier and Zachary; aunts and uncles, David L. Diuguid, MD and Caryn of Teaneck NJ; Lewis Diuguid of Kansas City, Mo., Vincent Diuguid of St. Louis, Mo.; and maternal grandfather, Lincoln I. Diuguid, Ph.D.; Gail Alexander of Brunswick, Mo.; Diana T. Buckner and Earl of Columbia, Mo.; Judy T. Turner and Robert of Warrensburg, Mo.; a host of cousins, and very, very dear friends. Skyler made everyone he met feel special, loved and respected with his charming and truthful personality. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday April 30, at Missouri Funeral Care 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Mo., and a graveside at 11 a.m. Friday May 1, at Blue Springs cemetery.

Estelle Randol

ESTELLE D. RANDOL
Estelle D. Randol, 81, Raytown, MO passed away April 30, 2009 at home after a long battle with breast cancer. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church, Raytown, MO. Estelle was born July 18, 1927 in Carl Junction, MO to the late Floyd and Lena Green. She graduated from East High School in 1944. In 1948, she married Donald Keith Randol, who precedes her in death. They were married for 49 years. Estelle was a librarian at Westridge Elementary in Raytown for 15 years. She was an active member of numerous organizations including the Children’s Mercy Women‘s Auxiliary and REAP, and was a devoted longtime member of Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church. Estelle is survived by her son, Mike Randol (Sandy), York, PA; daughter, Donna Jones (Bill), Belton, MO; sister, Evelyn Thomson; 5 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church or REAP

Esther Fern Elliott

Esther Fern Elliott, 83, of Brunswick, MO died on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Brunswick Nursing Home. Memorial services will be held at the Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, MO Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 4:00 P.M. Mark Schuchmann officiating. Esther was born on September 13, 1925 at rural Triplett, MO the daughter of Frank and Eloise Ehrett Meyers. She was married to James L. Elliott on July 18, 1944 at Brunswick, MO, he survives her at the home. She had been a housewife and homemaker. She was member of the Brunswick Christian Church and the Rucker-McAllister post # 7 American Legion Auxiliary at Brunswick, MO. She is also survived by one son, Randall Elliott of Boonville, MO; one sister, Geraldine White of Slater, MO; three granddaughters, Cheri, Randi and Tammy; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and one eight month old daughter Tammy. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Estin Wayne Riley

Estin Wayne Riley, 92, formerly of Brunswick, MO died on April 17, 2009 at the Mt. Pleasant Nursing Center in San Jose, CA. He was born on May 3, 1916 at Brunswick, MO the son of William Carl (Sam) and Lula Roberts Riley. He was married to Kathryn Fromm on October 21, 1938 in Lexington, MO. Kathryn preceded him in death on August 18, 1999. In WWII Estin served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the European African Middle East Theatre Campaign. He retired from working as manager of the Kelliker’s Cigar Store in Brunswick for thirty years. He was a over fifty year member of the Rucker-McAllister Post # 7 American Legion at Brunswick, MO. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, card games and spending the last nine years in Las Vegas.
Survivors include: daughter Trudy Barton of Rio Dell, CA and daughter and son-in-law Toni and Rodger Heishman of San Jose, CA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Patricia and Denny Meyer, William Fromm, George and Mary Fromm, Donald and Patsy Fromm, Bob and Sue Fromm, Donald Garner and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held in the Elliott Grove cemetery at Brunswick, MO Monday, May 4, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. Military Honors were provided by and memorials may be made to, Rucker-McAllister Post # 7 American Legion of Brunswick, MO.

Frances Wells

Frances Wells, 88, passed away in Omaha, NE on April 29, 2009. A visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:00 am with funeral service at 11:00 am at Missouri Funeral Care, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64133.

Anna May Stanley

Anna May Stanley, age 86, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009 at Carrollton Life Care Center.

Anna May was born November 9, 1922 in Carroll County, Missouri, the daughter of Oscar and Mattie May (Wiley) Stanley. She attended Powell School and Dieterich Elementary School. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Carrollton.

Anna May is survived by two brothers, Oscar Stanley, Jr., Greenwood, Missouri; Sammy Stanley, Independence, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Her parents, four sisters, Mable Stanley, Opal Frances Miller, Eulah Stanley, Cecil Littleton and one infant brother, Austin, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 4, 2009 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Evangelist Louis Garbi officiating. Burial was in Powell cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.

Visitation was held prior to the service at the funeral home.

Louise Troy Springer

Louise T. Posey Springer, 99 of Carrollton MO passed away on May 4, 2009. A Memorial Service will be held at Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton on Thursday, May 7th at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery in Carrollton following the Memorial Service.

Mrs. Springer was born June 13, 1909 in Sheridan Arkansas, daughter to E. A. and Eva Toler Posey. On March 26, 1927 she married her high school sweetheart Louis Howard Springer, her loving husband of seventy years. Louis and Louise moved to Carrollton in 1950 from Hillsboro TX and she has been a member of First Baptist Church Carrollton since then.

Mrs. Springer was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Elmo Posey and Frank Posey, one sister Lois Duncan, a daughter, Eva Loise Harvey, and her husband Louis Springer.

Louise is survived by three children, Lucille Pricer and husband E.J., Garland TX, Howard Springer and wife Dorothy, St. Louis MO and Loretta Rahm and husband James of Carrollton; 9 grandchildren, Julie Wolfe and husband Mark, Dudley Thomas and wife Pam, Steven Thomas and fiancé Joyce, Mickey Erwin and husband Larry, Linda Dayhoff and husband Randy, James Pricer and wife Becky, Jeanneta Page and husband Randy, Troy Springer and Deanna Springer; 15 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Missouri Baptist Children’s Home or First Baptist Church, Carrollton. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Lloyd Merrill Struck

Lloyd Merrill Struck
1931-2009

Lloyd Merrill Struck, age 78, of rural Carrollton, MO., died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital.
Merrill was born on January 24, 1931 in Carroll County, the only child of Lloyd William “Jack” and Laura B (Fuller) Struck. He attended Calloway School and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1949.
On December 20, 1952 he married Lois Marie Audsley at the First Christian Church in Carrollton. They were blessed with two daughters, Gayle Marie, Merrilyn Bea, and one son, Gary Merrill.
Merrill was in the Air Force from 1951-1955 during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany for three years, serving as an aircraft fire fighter. After his years in the service he returned to Carroll County and began farming with his father, retiring in 2005.
He was a member of the First Christian Church where he had served as a deacon and on the church board. He was also a member of the IOOF Lodge in Carrollton. Merrill and Lois enjoyed attending auctions and had a business of collector plates for several years. Merrill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Spending time with his family brought great joy to him.
Merrill is survived by his wife, Lois, of the home and their three children, Gayle Marie and her husband Doug Gentry of Kansas City, MO; Merrilyn Bea and her husband Ted Williams of Sedalia, MO; and Gary Merrill and his wife Amy of Olathe, KS; seven grandchildren, Kelly Marie (Gentry) McCloud and her husband Chris; Kathy Lea (Gentry) Stewart and her husband Ryan; and Gregory Earl Gentry, all of Kansas City, MO; Laura Leann and Melissa Nicole Williams, of Sedalia, MO; and Annamarie Rose and Sophia Merrill Struck of Olathe, KS.; and three great-grandchildren, Erin Lea and Chase Matthew Stewart, and Mattox James McCloud. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant grandson, Kevin Lynn Gentry.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9 at 11:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Carrollton. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be at Carroll Memory Gardens. The family suggests memorial gifts to the First Christian Church in Carrollton.

Janet Leanah Wehmeyer

Janet Wehmeyer of Carrollton, Missouri, died peacefully on Mother’s Day, leaving five grateful and adoring children and six grandchildren. She was a kind and gentle woman who devoted her life to her family and to teaching. She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Kenneth Wehmeyer, and by a brother and sister: Joseph Nolte and Elma Lucile Rosebrugh.

Janet Leanah Nolte was born in Rockville, Missouri to Joseph Martin and Edna Yeamans Nolte. She graduated from Rockville High School and Central Missouri State College, where she met her husband, Kenneth Wehmeyer. Janet taught in Higginsville and Deepwater, Missouri before she and Kenneth married in 1945, following his Army duty in World War II. In 1951, they moved to Norborne, Missouri where they both taught high school—she in typing and business and he in science—until his death in 1987 and her retirement in 1991. They eventually moved to Carrollton, Missouri where they raised five children who survive them: Connie Wells (husband Bob) of Prairie Village, KS; Larry Wehmeyer of Carrollton; Fred Wehmeyer of Augusta, GA; Don Wehmeyer of Nevada, MO; and Rick Wehmeyer (wife Cindy) of Lake Jackson, TX.

After retirement, Janet contributed her time to leadership and service in her church and in her community, serving in the choir and in the Women’s Fellowship of the church, and in several terms as president of the Carroll County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Janet is also survived by her sister, Irene Anderson of Hilton Head Island, North Carolina, and six grandchildren: Nathan Evert of Kansas City, MO; Bryan Evert of Overland Park, KS; Austen Wehmeyer of Orlando, FL; Zachary Wehmeyer stationed at Camp Normandy, Iraq; Daniel Wells of Prairie Village, KS; and Matthew Wells of Prairie Village, KS. She also leaves behind many friends, neighbors, and past students whom she remembered fondly—usually by name—to her very last days.

She was an exceptional person—not in status or wealth—she put her family and students first, herself last, and God in all things.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Grand Pass, Missouri. Burial was in Mt. Nebo cemetery, Grand Pass, Missouri.

Visitation was from 6-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

The family suggests contributions be made to St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Grand Pass, MO. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.
