He is survived by two daughters, Martha Evan of St. Louis, and Katherine Evan of Los Angeles, CA, by a sister, Louise Gajdos of Gonzales, TX, by seven nieces and nephews all of the State of TX.
He proudly served his nation in the U.S. Army
Mr. Evan worked for the General Motors Company for 30 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Farmington, Knights of Columbus, and the Amvets. He also volunteered at the Senior Citizen Center for 15 years.

She is survived by her husband, David Brann, by three sons, Richard Brann and wife Rochelle of Franklin, TN, Matt Brann and wife Lisa of Farmington, and James Brann and wife Lupe of Doe Run, by four daughters, Helen Weiss, Terry (Mrs. Don) Duncan, Susan (Mrs. Dan) McCarron, and Carol Brann all of Farmington, by a brother, Calvin Bird of Piedmont, by two sisters, Delsie Cloin of Jefferson County, and Joan (Mrs. Richard) Falcetti of Imperial, by 16 grandchildren, by four step-grandchildren, and by a great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Brann was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Farmington.

Goldwyn Hughes Smith of Kimmswick, formerly of Farmington, passed away on December 30, 2002, at her residence at the age of 81 years. She was born on March 18,1921, at Tuscaloosa, AL, the daughter of the late Lonnie and Ettie (Epperson) Hughes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Smith, a son, Michael R. Smith, anda grandson, William Nunn. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Mrs. Bill) Effan of Kimswick, a son, Bill Nunn and wife Barbara, a step-mother, Mollie Dean McKinney, a half sister, Anne Bozeman, a brother-in-law, John Edwards and children, all of Wetumpka, AL, 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, the Effan family of Doe Run, Farmington, and St. Louis, and all of whom adopted her as their grandmother when she moved to Missouri.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Smith was a salesperson in the mobile home industry. She sold them in the Portland and Vancouver area for 30 years. She also went into the coin-operated laundromat business, sold mausoleum property, worked for the country club in Mobile, AL, was a technician at Brookley Field, installing gyroscopes in bombers, and worked at Constantine’s Restaurant in Mobile for 17 years.
Goldwyn loved crossword puzzles, played Scrabble like a wizard, and had a personal library that filled a room in her house.

George John Griffin of Farmington passed away on December 30, 2002, at the Parkland Health Center, at the age of 91 years. He was born on November 18, 1911,in Ste. Genevieve County, the son of the late Frank B. and Belle (Williams) Griffin. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Arleen Griffin, second wife, Viola Griffin, and two brothers, Walter and Elbert Griffin. He is survived by three sons, Gerald McDaniel of Wentzville, David George Griffin of the State of Texas, and Darrell Griffin and wife Jeanie of Farmington, three daughters, Connie (Mrs. Harold) Simms, June (Mrs. David) Lamb, both of St. Louis, Karen (Mrs. Art) Pappas of the State of North Carolina, 16 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Before his retirement, Mr. Griffin was a self-employed farmer. He was also a member of the Three Rivers Baptist Church for many years where he was a deacon.

Paul Sylvester Polete

Paul Sylvester Polete, formerly of Farmington, passed away January 5, 2003, at the Jackson County Rehabilitation Center at Murphysboro, IL, at the age of 86 years. He was born on December 31, 1916, at Mine LaMotte, MO, the son of the late Jesse J. and Gertrude Heidenreich Polete. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Meador, and by two brothers, Clifford and Glen (Red) Polete.
Mr. Polete taught school at Farmington beginning in 1938 before working as a small business owner. From there he went to work for Dow Chemical Co., in Illinois.
He is survived by a son, Paul C. (Pete) Polete and wife Linda of Murphysboro, and by three daughters, Barbara A. (Mrs. Tony) Barth of Ann Arbor, MI, Margaret S. Barth and Mary L. Fleck, both of Farmington. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren: Rick Polete and wife Janet of Newburgh, IN, Michele (Mrs. Bob) Allard of Murphysboro, Stephen Barth and wife Michelle, Patrick Barth, Kathleen Hirth, and David Barth, all of Ann Arbor, Shelly (Mrs. Tim) Thomure, Julie (Mrs. Danny) Nicholson, and Brian Barth and wife Crystal, Melanie Fleck and Bobby Fleck, all of Farmington, Kimberly (Mrs. Tim) Richbourg of St. Louis, and Alice (Mrs. Jeff) Gregson of Atlanta, GA. Eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson also survive.
Friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2003, at the Cozean Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will follow at Polk Cemetery at Arcadia. Memorials may be directed to the Polk Cemetery.

She is survived by a son, Larry Lewis and wife Mary Anne of Bloomington, MN, a daughter, Carol Ray of Palmyra, MO, two step-children, Maxine Smith of St. Louis and Norman Grooms of Lebanon, MO, two brothers, Al Sherman and wife Gayle of Crystal City, MO, and Wesley Sherman and wife Dot of Columbia, MO, a sister-in-law, Roberta Sherman of Pevely, MO, four grandsons, Larry Lewis and wife Renee, Michael Lewis and wife Grete, Scott Lewis and wife Michelle, all of Cottage Grove, MN, and Mo Davis of Valley Park, MO, eight great-grandchildren, and by a most special niece, Rena Womble of Ironton. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
Before her retirement, she worked for the Co-ed Garment Co. in Festus, MO. She was a member of the Baptist Church of Festus and formerly of the Knob Lick Baptist Church.

Agnes Marie Medley of Farmington passed away on January 11, 2003, at the St. Francois Manor at the age of 82 years. She was born on October 16, 1920, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Noah and Ada (Arnold) Hibbits. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Medley. She is survived by a son, Dale Medley of Farmington, a daughter, Francie Ingracia and husband Larry of Nixa, MO, a grandson, Stephen Ingracia and wife, Heather, and a granddaughter, Diane Mickey, and by four great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Rose, and Benjamin Ingracia and Durham Mickey.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Knob Lick and the Friendly Folks Club of Knob Lick. She loved animals and was an avid supporter of the Humane Society.

Bernetta Marie Pearsall of Park Hills passed away on January 12, 2003, at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center at the age of 83 years. She was born on May 29, 1919, at Fredericktown, the daughter of the late Leonard and Nora McCarver. She was also preceded in death by husbands, Eugene Cox and Lee Pearsall, a daughter, Jean Marie Cox, a sister, Margaret McCarver, two half-brothers, Albert and Gerald Short, and three half-sisters, Helen Short, Betty Thomas, and Violet Rosemary Burnham. She is survived by a daughter, Patsy (Mrs. William) Orr of Fredericktown, by four brothers, Robert Short and wife Joan of St. Peters, Charles McCarver and wife Judy of Terre Du Lac, Johnny McCarver and wife Darlene of Fredericktown, and Vernon McCarver of Ironton, and by two half-sister, Mabel Roark of Park Hills and Doris (Mrs. Jim) Jones, three grandchildren, Stephen Glenwood Tripp and wife Pam of Fredericktown, Kathryn (Mrs. John) Bruton, and Elizabeth (Mrs. Eric) Barton, both of Farmington, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephew, and other relatives also survive.
Before her retirement, she worked at Holiday Inn as a cook. She was also a life-time member of Assembly of God Church of Farmington.

Carl Glenwood Sebastian of Farmington passed away on January 13, 2003 at Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center at the age of 92 years. He was born on November 6, 1910 at Libertyville, the son of the late Nathaniel Cook and Victoria (Heitman) Sebastian. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Harry Sebastian and a sister, Bernice Martin. He is survived by his wife, Glenda (Mills) Sebastian of Farmington, two sons, Jack Sebastian and wife Diane of Farmington, Jerry Sebastian and wife Susan of Monett, Mo, a daughter, Joan (Mrs. Loyd) Turnbeau of Springfield, Mo, 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, a brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Carl was a farmer and raised horses. He was also a member of the Libertyville Christian Church.

Dora Eleonore Meyermann of Farmington passed away on January 13, 2003, at the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center at the age of 81 years. She was born on March 3, 1921, in Chattanooga, TN, the daughter of the late John and Jennie Margaretha (Hansen) Pfitzer. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Pfitzer and Richard Pfitzer, and a sister, Mary Ehmler. She is survived by her husband, Armin Meyermann, three daughters, Natalie (Mrs. John) artwig of Salem, VA, Karen (Mrs. Joel) Berkeland of Canyon Country, CA, and Beata (Mrs. Dale) Halter of Chicago, IL, a sister, Grace Pfitzer, a brother, Emil Pfitzer, seven grandchildren, Berith Hartwig, Shereth (Mrs. Peter) Tran, Daniel Berkeland, Matthew Berkeland, Jill (Mrs. Carlos) Mejia, Jacob Halter, and Andrew Halter, and a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Mejia. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Before her retirement, she worked at Concord Lutheran School, Pagedale, MO, as a first grade teacher. She was also a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Timothy Brent Cole of Farmington passed away on January 13, 2003, at Parkland Health Center at the age of 47 years. He was born on October 26, 1955, at Kennett, Mo, the son of Bonnie (Stewart) Cole and the late Robert Cole. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Ian Cole and wife Tisha and Brandon Cole, all of Imperial, two grandchildren, Selena and Kane Cole, three sisters, Sandy Stroud and Robie Brosseau, both of the State of Florida, and Jeanne Rider of Pevely, three brothers, Dannie Cole and Tony Cole of the State of Florida, and Randy Cole of Farmington.
