Alfred Stobart Sr.

WINFIELD - Alfred Brian Stobart Sr., 61, of Winfield, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Father Gregory Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Mr. Stobart was born Sept. 14, 1941, in St. Louis to Alfred H. and Mary C. O'Brien Stobart.
He was married to Lorraine Jeanette Wolk on April 8, 1961, in St. Louis. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Alfred (Brian) Stobart Jr. of Irondale and Larry Stobart of St. Charles; two daughters, Theresa Callaway of Winfield and Shelly Fozzard of Scott AFB, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Ralph Stobart of Goose Creek, S.C.; his mother-in-law, Virginia Wolk of Winfield; and one sister-in-law, Barb Stuckmeyer of Lesterville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Stobart was employed for 30 years by Simon Sign Co. in St. Louis.
William W. Roth
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - William W. (Bill) Roth, 82, of San Antonio, Texas, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in San Antonio.
Porter Loring Chapel in San Antonio is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Roth of San Antonio; one sister, Mary Osterloh of Hannibal; three grandchildren, William Timothy Horan of McKinney, Texas, Tammy Adams of Fairfax, Va., and Timothy F. Horan III of San Antonio; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler Horace Horan and Ashley Louise Horan, both of McKinney.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise.
Mr. Roth served in the U.S. Air Force from 1941 to 1946. In 1947, he began a career with Lone Star Brewery. He worked there for 47 years and was involved in more than 100 civic positions. He was awarded the Outstanding Civilian Service Medal by the U. S. Army and the Exceptional Service Medal by the U.S. Air Force, both of which are the highest civilian awards respectively.
Ervin A. Bier
PALMYRA - Ervin A. Bier, 91, of Palmyra, died at 10:10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday Jan. 11, 2002, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral chapel.
Glenn Donald Baker Menees
Glenn Donald Baker Menees, 81, of Fayette and formerly of Hannibal, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services are pending at Smith Funeral Home and Chapel in Hannibal.
Carl and Sonia Reddick
APPLE VALLEY, Calif. - Memorial services were conducted recently for Carl and Sonia Reddick in Apple Valley, Calif.
Mr. Reddick grew up in the Mount Zion area in the 1920s and late 1930s.
Survivors include his only daughter, Mrs. James (Carolyn) Conrad of Hannibal; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward of Hannibal and James (Buck) of Marblehead, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. John (Ruth) Large of Hannibal; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. J.W. (Thelma) Baxter.
Ervin A. Bier

PALMYRA - Ervin A. Bier, 91, of Palmyra, died at 10:10 a.m. Thursday, Jan, 9, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. The Rev. Dewayne Larenson will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services today at the funeral chapel.
Mr. Bier was born Sept. 14, 1911, in Marion County to John and Sophie Staus Bier.
He was married to Ella Louise Schnitzer on Nov. 12, 1936, in Palmyra. She preceded him in death March 30, 1990.
Survivors include one son, Michael E. Bier and wife, Pam, of Kearney; three granddaughters, Staci Bonderer of Centerville, Iowa, Katie Cox of Kansas City, Mo., and Emily Bier of Kearney; and great-grandchildren, Morgan and Reagan Bonderer of Centerville and Alexis and Brayden Cox of Kansas City, Mo.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Everette Bier.
Mr. Bier was a Marion County grain farmer, cattleman and dairy producer. He was a 1929 graduate of Palmyra High School. He was an avid fisherman.
Memorials may be made to Blessing Hospice.
Pallbearers will be Tim Bonderer, John Bier, David Bier, Brad Bier, Jack Lewis, Carroll Ragar and Jimmy Joe Clark.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Johnson and Herman Nelson.

CLARKSVILLE - Ray Ziegler, 93, of Clarksville, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at Maple Grove Lodge in Louisiana.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Clarksville. Father Tom Waickman will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery near Clarksville.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a rosary service at 7 p.m. today at Collier Funeral Home in Clarksville.
Mr. Ziegler was born April 25, 1909, in Scott County to August and Anna L. Hahn Ziegler.
He was married to Elva Rae Robison on March 10, 1930. She preceded him in death Oct. 18, 1996.
Survivors include one son, Larry Ziegler of St. Genevieve; and three daughters, Anna Collard of Rockport, Ill., Nora Wilson of Clarksville and Karen Heuer of Titusville, Fla.; three brothers, Vernon Ziegler of Lexington, Ky., Nelson Ziegler of Camdenton and James Ziegler of O'Fallon; one sister, Mary Handing of San Benito, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

LOUISIANA - Troy Morgan Ahart, infant son of Jim Jr. and Jennifer Kehr Ahart of Louisiana, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at University Medical Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. Pastor Marshall Adams will officiate. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Troy Morgan was born Dec. 30, 2002, in Columbia.
Survivors include parents; two brothers, Jamie Christian Ahart and Tanner Wyatt Ahart, both of the home; grandparents, Jim and Katherine Ahart, grandmother, Jeanette Kehr, paternal great-grandparents, John and Rose Davis and Arlene Carley, all of Louisiana; and paternal great-great-grandparents, Sidney and Nora Shedd of Eminence.
He was preceded in death by grandfather, Robert Kehr; and aunt, Pam Ahart.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Stoops and Tim Strieker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Curt Ries, Bill Bratcher, Steve McCulley and Jim Pruitt.
Charles Griffaw Jr.

ELSBERRY - Charles Griffaw Jr., 76, of Elsberry, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at Crossroads Hospital in Wentzville.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Father Bill Beier will officiate. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the church.
Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Griffaw was born Aug. 2, 1926, in Cape Girardeau to Charles and Jewel Martin Griffaw Sr.
He was married to Estel Germaine Schoreck on Oct. 30, 1947, in Salem, Ill. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Charlie Griffaw of Winfield; six daughters, Scherry Griffaw of Austin, Texas, Germaine Jeffrey of Louisville, Ky., Wanda Piechoinski of Elsberry, Elizabeth Dunn of Vandalia, Ill., Mary Jane Jayroe of Austin, Texas; 32 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.
Pauline M. Krietemeyer

TROY - Pauline M. Krietemeyer, 96, of Troy and formerly of Overland, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Lincoln County Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home in Troy. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens in Pagedale.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Krietemeyer was born Oct. 29, 1906, in Salem, Ill., to Caleb and Ida Allen Wilkerson.
She was married to Gus Krietemeyer. He preceded her in death Jan. 15, 1988.
Survivors include one son, James Krietemeyer of Troy; and one daughter, Norma Harrenstein of Bridgeton; one daughter-in-law, Margaret Krietemeyer of Bridgeton; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three children, Betty Morgan, Imogene Krietemeyer and Billy Krietemeyer; one granddaughter, Pamela Whitford; one sister, Darline Mihelich; and two brothers, Merle Wilkerson and Robert Wilkerson.
Thelma V. Baldwin
HANNIBAL - Thelma V. Baldwin, 79, of Hannibal, died at 3 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Grand View Funeral Chapel in Hannibal. The Rev. David Johnson will officiate.
Inurnment will be at Grand View Burial Park.
There will be no visitation.
Hazel I. DeFrenne

SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. - Hazel I. DeFrenne, 90, of Sun City West, Ariz., and formerly of Hannibal and St. Louis, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, in Sun City West.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 20, at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. The Rev. George Major will officiate.
Ms. DeFrenne was born March 6, 1912, in Arzenville, Ill., to Orville P. and Lola Bridgeman Scoville.
Survivors include one sister, Dorothy Prosser; three nieces, Donna Chatham, Sharon Barrowman and Sandra Worthington; and two nephews Jack Scoville and John Scoville.
Ms. DeFrenne was a member of Desert Palms Presbyterian Church in Sun City West, Briarwood Country Club, Sun City West Lawn Bowlers and the Pioneer Club of Sun City West. She attended Hannibal-LaGrange College and Kirksville State Teachers College. In 1977, she retired from Cupples Product Co. in St. Louis after 23 years of service where she was a material analyst in production control and in 1979, she moved to Arizona.

Donald R. Hevel Jr.

PALMYRA - Donald R. Hevel Jr., 60, of Keokuk, Iowa, died at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at his home.
Private family services will be Saturday, Jan. 18, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.
There will be no visitation.
Mr. Hevel was born Oct. 6, 1942, in Moberly to Donald R. Sr. and Marguerite Kinworthy Hevel.
He was married to Dorothy Stuhlman on Aug. 18, 1962, in Palmyra. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Donald R. Hevel III and wife, Lauren, of Wentzville; one daughter, Dawn M. Kearney and husband, Paul, of Springfield, Ill.; his parents of Palmyra; three brothers, Dr. Robert Hevel of Palmyra, David Hevel of Hannibal and Steve Hevel of Aiken, S.C.; one sister, Irene Meyers of Palmyra; three grandchildren, Samantha and Michelle Kearney, and Dalton Hevel; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Kerry W. Hevel Sr.
Mr. Hevel was director of administration for Keokuk Community School District. He retired in 1995 due to health reasons. He was a graduate of Palmyra High School. He received a bachelor of science degree and a master's degree from Kirksville State Teachers College and had done graduate work at the University of Georgia.

Barbara Sharp

SHELBINA - Barbara Sharp, 56, of Kansas City, Mo., died at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at her home.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Chapel in Shelbina. Ken Harland will officiate.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sharp was born Feb. 12, 1946, in Shelbina to Thelbert and Dr. Gladys E. Simpson Bower.
She was married to George Sharp on Sept. 26, 1992, in Bethel. He survives.
Other survivors include one son, Jay Jacobs of Kansas City, Mo.
Mrs. Sharp was a member of Blue Ridge United Methodist Church in Kansas City. She graduated from Kirksville State Teachers College.
